This is my absolute favorite soap(lush or otherwise). First of all, it is so silky. It doesn't dry out my skin, it lathers great and it also works really well for shaving. Second, the scent is AMAZING. I would love love love a fragrance that smelled exactly like this. It is sweet, soft, and just really light and lovely. I cut it into little bits and keep it by the sink and always pick up a new wedge every couple of months.

Alkamaar was among the items I purchased on my first ever Lush visit and I fell in love with it immediately. I thnk I wrote a review of it back then! But here I am years later and I purchased it again with my recent Lush haul.

This soap is amazing and for those that like florals at all, it should always be in their home. It is very simple and subtle, with a clean 'soap' smell. Yet it is also soft and sweet, being jasmine, and the soap itself is very very creamy and milky.

I absolutely love it and will continue to buy it for as long as it is available.

I will admit it....I judge things based on their looks sometimes. I never gave this soap a second glance, there were such prettier/interesting ones out there! (Honey I Washed the Kids, Sea Vegetable, Porridge, Demon in the Dark, Miranda, etc, etc). It may not look it, but this soap is awesome! It has a nice, creamy, skin softening lather and smells divine. It has the scent of jasmine, the exact same smell as Silky Underwear dusting powder. (I am sensing some product layering in my future!). I only have gotten a sample so far, but the next time I am at Lush I am going to get a huge chunk. If you like feminine smelling, creamy soaps, give this one a go!

The smell of this soap is what drew me to it. I love jasmine, so this just called out to me.

Using it in the shower for the first time, I was surprised at how well it lathered and how creamy it was. The smell stuck with me all day too.

The only downside for this is that because it's so creamy, it gets used up a little faster than some of the others. It's totally worth it to buy more though. This is definitely in my top ten.

I completely ADORE this soap. I first got it as a sample with one of my orders and I'm so thankful I did because I probably wouldn't have tried it otherwise. It's very plain looking, but it's by no means an ordinary soap.

It smells exactly like Silky Underwear dusting powder - like jasmine and vanilla and utterly gorgeous. It's a soft scent, not overbearing at all, just very calming and feminine. It's a soft soap and practically melts when you hold it, so while it doesn't last very long, it leaves my skin feeling extremely moisturized and clean. I use this to shave with also and I'm left with silky soft legs with no flakes or dry patches, which I'm prone to. If you're on the fence about trying this, do it! It's worth every penny.

I don't know why people say this soap doesn't last long... unless it is under constant running water I don't see how it would melt quickly. Mine sits on my shower catty in a place where water does dribble over is a little bit while I shower and it doesn't melt any more than any other soap I have ever used (from LUSH or not). It is my favorite everyday soap... it smells like cream and honeysuckle, with a great lather, wonderfully moisturizing, and fantastic for leg/underarm shaving!

Thank the Lush gods for this soap. It smells sexy and comforting at the same time and lathers up like the bubbles are made of cream. You want to make sure to keep this in a place where it will be able to drain and dry properly otherwise it turns into a goopy, stringy, sticky mess and you've wasted most of a beautiful bar of soap. I get to pretend that I'm a princess when I'm soaping up with this in the shower because it feels so decadent.

I passed on this soap for the longest time, since it looked so plain and boring. Then one day I was in a Lush store and mentioned to the salesgirl how much I love Silky Underwear powder. She asked if I'd ever used Alkmaar, which she said smelled exactly like that. I took a sniff and I couldn't believe it. The girl offered to make me a sample, but I told her there was no need and bought two big bars. I've used it ever since.

This is my shower soap, for before work or any time I don't need/want to have a long lingering scent (who wants to waste that on the boss?!) The scent is very subtle and I only notice it if I really sniff at my skin (no, I don't do that often ;)) For a long lasting scent before a date, I'll use a bath bomb (and All That Jas smells just like this, too!) But in the shower itself, it smells delicious - sweet and powdery and slightly floral. It gets me clean and is a nice bit of pampering for when I don't have time for a long bath.

This is officially my favorite LUSH soap! I am a huge fan of Silky Underwear, so I had been itching to try this. Luckily, the awesome person who packaged my last order sent me a sample! As soon as I opened it, I was hooked. It's such a lovely sweet, floral, slightly musky scent. You definitely get the jasmine, which I love. It's a super-creamy, moisturising lather that leaves you feeling clean. Pairs perfectly with Silky Underwear, which I am most excited about! ;) Alkmaar is going to be a staple in my shower!

I would love to recommend this soap because of the scent alone. I adore jasmine and vetiver. The scent is powdery but the floral is simple, not too heady and not overly complex. I wish that Silky Underwear perfume were still being produced. This soap smells of the dusting powder. However, the scent doesn't linger on the skin and the bar is rather small. It is an adequate soap, cleans you well if you aren't crusted with dirt and doesn't leave too much residue. It also isn't super melty like other Lush soaps, a factor that doesn't stop me from buying them but may matter to others. If the scent lasted I'd give it four stars. If it also had any property other than basic cleansing, I'd give it five. But alas, it's a nice soap. Little more.

I alternate Alkmaar with Sandstone and they leave my skin super-smooth and super soft. Alkmaar is so gentle and non-drying I can even use it on my face.

When I first got this I was a bit disappointed because, honestly, this soap smelled weird. Just plain weird. I didn't like it at all. However, after I used it a few times, I realized how moisturizing it was and started using it to shave with. I've never had a closer shave than when I use this. It leaves my legs silky smooth and moisturized and without razor burn! Now I actually really enjoy the scent and don't like using anything else to shave with. I have repurchased this several times and plan on doing so in the future.

This is my favorite soap ever. I have pretty dry skin and a lot of soaps dry me out. This lathers very nicely and leaves me soft and smelling yummy. The scent reminds me of the beach for some reason. It leaves a nice light scent that isn't overpowering.

This was my first soap that I ever bought at Lush because I simply adored the smell - still do. However, I found that after being in my shower in a dish for about a week, the soap got very cracked and lumpy and eventually just became rock solid and impossible to use. This might have been because I kept it in the shower rather than outside of the shower and maybe the water got to it or something but, well, I feel like something meant for the shower should be able to withstand water. Also, whenever I rubbed it over my skin and then rinsed, I felt like my skin was a little sticky. It didn't feel sticky once I dried off, just in the shower, so that wasn't really a big deal. I'm a huge Lush fan - not sure I'd buy this soap again, though.

I absolutely adore Alkmaar. I have tried other Lush soaps, but I just keep coming back to this one. I try to use only natural body products, but I have severe allergies to chamomile and avocado, usually making it nearly impossible for me to use the products out on the market. However, Alkmaar has neither of these, making me a happy, soft, and yummy smelling Lushie. :)

OMG! This soap is wonderful! It is soooo creamy and moisturizing. The is great for shaving because i have very sensitive skin and it makes shaving painless and effortless! This smells like honeysuckle and just a touch of jasmine. It has a light scent and its just wonderful! I recommend this soap to anybody! It may look boring but honestly, this is super creamy! Love it!

Alkmaar is by far my favorite soap. Sure, it doesn't look fancy, but it's always the quiet ones, eh? This soap creates the most wonderful, creamy lather and leaves my skin soft. The scent is pleasant and stays with me all day, but is never too overpowering. I would (and do) recommend this to anyone!

This is by far my favorite soap from lush. I use it as a hand soap and cut chunks off to keep by the sink. It is creamy with a really lovely light honeysuckle scent that stays on my hands for hours. It lathers great and feels so soft. I always make sure to have a large chunk of it on hand at home. I store the part I'm not using in store wrapper and then in a ziplock bag to keep it fresh.
