When I first got this I was a bit disappointed because, honestly, this soap smelled weird. Just plain weird. I didn't like it at all. However, after I used it a few times, I realized how moisturizing it was and started using it to shave with. I've never had a closer shave than when I use this. It leaves my legs silky smooth and moisturized and without razor burn! Now I actually really enjoy the scent and don't like using anything else to shave with. I have repurchased this several times and plan on doing so in the future.

This is my favorite soap ever. I have pretty dry skin and a lot of soaps dry me out. This lathers very nicely and leaves me soft and smelling yummy. The scent reminds me of the beach for some reason. It leaves a nice light scent that isn't overpowering.

This was my first soap that I ever bought at Lush because I simply adored the smell - still do. However, I found that after being in my shower in a dish for about a week, the soap got very cracked and lumpy and eventually just became rock solid and impossible to use. This might have been because I kept it in the shower rather than outside of the shower and maybe the water got to it or something but, well, I feel like something meant for the shower should be able to withstand water. Also, whenever I rubbed it over my skin and then rinsed, I felt like my skin was a little sticky. It didn't feel sticky once I dried off, just in the shower, so that wasn't really a big deal. I'm a huge Lush fan - not sure I'd buy this soap again, though.

I absolutely adore Alkmaar. I have tried other Lush soaps, but I just keep coming back to this one. I try to use only natural body products, but I have severe allergies to chamomile and avocado, usually making it nearly impossible for me to use the products out on the market. However, Alkmaar has neither of these, making me a happy, soft, and yummy smelling Lushie. :)

OMG! This soap is wonderful! It is soooo creamy and moisturizing. The is great for shaving because i have very sensitive skin and it makes shaving painless and effortless! This smells like honeysuckle and just a touch of jasmine. It has a light scent and its just wonderful! I recommend this soap to anybody! It may look boring but honestly, this is super creamy! Love it!

Alkmaar is by far my favorite soap. Sure, it doesn't look fancy, but it's always the quiet ones, eh? This soap creates the most wonderful, creamy lather and leaves my skin soft. The scent is pleasant and stays with me all day, but is never too overpowering. I would (and do) recommend this to anyone!

This is by far my favorite soap from lush. I use it as a hand soap and cut chunks off to keep by the sink. It is creamy with a really lovely light honeysuckle scent that stays on my hands for hours. It lathers great and feels so soft. I always make sure to have a large chunk of it on hand at home. I store the part I'm not using in store wrapper and then in a ziplock bag to keep it fresh.

This soap doesn't smell anything like honeysuckle or jasmine. Smokey undertones of vetivert? yeah, vetivert that someone rolled and smoked. Feels soft and creamy but sorry smells awful, more like fermented hippie. Going straight into the trash.

This soap is nice because the smell is sexy and feminine, but not overpowering. This is a good soap to use if you want to layer another scent over it. It blends well with floral/romantic scents or earthy (patchouli/musky) scents.

Alkmaar is simple, yet decadent. My skin feels soft and smells fantastic after a nice bath with this soap. While I have been a fan of Lush products for a long time, this is a new find for me, and has quickly become my favorite Lush product.

A little bit of luxury goes a long ways. The scent is a light floral that won't overpower you or make it so that you can't wear perfume later. It's a really relaxing scent. The soap itself is really creamy and will leave you clean without stripping your skin. One of my favorite soaps.

I got a sample of this soap and now I want to buy it next time I place an order with Lush. It smells just like Silky Underwear, so if you like that sent, you'll love this soap. I think it lathers nicely and is very moisturizing as well. I just love the pleasent light scent that is girly but not too overpowering. I'm excited to order a full size of this!

Loved this product in the bath with a bath bomb and some nice music. It lathers so well and leaves your skin feeling really soft afterward. Very soothing and I love the fragrance.

I really do love this soap for its scent, as it is so aromatic but does not suffocate either. I wish it was a bit more moisturizing though :/

Every time I've walked into Lush I've looked at this soap, picked it up and smelled it, but always walked out with something "prettier". However, having tried the majority of their soaps and still being curious about this one I finally picked a chunk up. I wish I would have bought it sooner! I LOVE the scent, it is absolutely intoxicating! It also has this silky white lather, and moisturizes my skin beautifully. And while I love how lush puts things in their soaps (i.e. oats in porridge, peels in sexy peel, fruit in sultana) it was nice to not have to catch bits of anything in the drain. I guess I'd have to say my only complaint is that it doesn't seem to linger on my skin which sucks because I'm pretty into the smell, but at the same time it's great because I can enjoy it in the shower, but it allows me to use multiple lush products and I don't have to worry about the scents clashing or being too strong. I will be buying this soap for a long time!

This soap is so beautiful! A nice flower smell that doesn't stay on your skin so you can wear perfume, or put on lotion afterwards. The lather is thick and creamy. Smells great on the bar, great in the shower, and is my #1 lush soap! can not wait to buy some once my sample runs out!

Its great in the shower when you have time to truly appreciate the fragrance. It is subtle and beautiful, warm smokey jasmine, quite floral like a royal garden. The scent does linger and its great to store in your linens as it does scent them nicely. Alkmaar is quite plain to look at when you are in the store with so many other pretty soaps to buy as Lush soaps are quite lovely to look at. Do not be deceived as sometimes the most plain can be the most beautiful. No nuts and berries here, pure deliciously luxurious soap and wonderful to use.
As a reference, my favorite soaps are Sultana, Karma and Porridge.

This soap smells lovely and is quite simple in regards to other intense smelling Lush soaps. It is not my favorite as I prefer intense smells. The jasmine smells pretty though it does not linger on skin after a bath. It smells like a 17th century garden party and that is great when your in a mild mood. After the last sliver melted away last night in the shower I was bummed though my skin itched: seems to be a bit drying for me. Might buy again if the mild mood strikes;)
