2,540 kg/5,600 lbs of fresh lemons get zested, juiced and squeezed into our cosmetics each year. We love using lemons in our cosmetics because they’re cleansing, antibacterial, full of vitamin C, vitamins B1 and B2, and are a powerful antioxidant. Fresh organic lemon juice is an ideal ingredient for shampoos and conditioners to tone the scalp and flatten the hair cuticles, giving lustrous shine. We use lemon in Curly Wurly and Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoos, as well as Coolaulin hair conditioner. Marilyn hair treatment, I Love Juicy shampoo and Veganese conditioner contain lemon oil for its cleansing properties and its ability to lighten blonde hair. Lemon infusion also works in our Big Shampoo to cleanse and degrease the hair.
Lemons also work wonders cleansing and brightening the skin. Our Enzymion facial moisturizer contains both lemon infusion and fresh lemon juice to help clear oily skin, and our Gorgeous moisturizer contains lemon juice, along with other ingredients to stimulate and brighten congested skin.
We use lemon oil with other citrus essential oils in some of our bath and shower products because not only are lemons cleansing and full of vitamins, but also because the fragrance of lemon is so uplifting. Big Blue and Dragon’s Egg Bath Bombs, Amandopondo and Rose Jam Bubble Bars, You've Been Mangoed and Floating Island Luxury Bath Melts all contain lemon. As the bombs and melts sink into the hot water of the bath, the essential oils are released and the fragrance is very uplifting. Our Sexy Peel soap inspired by breakfast marmalade contains fresh lemon juice and lemon oil for their fresh scent and cleansing abilities, and organic lemon peel is sprinkled in its top layers for interesting texture, visual impact and gentle exfoliation.
