Honestly, I can't say much about the volume this shampoo may give because my long long hair would weigh any volumizing product down, but the advertised shine it gives to hair is the truth. Smells great, cleans great, hair is left very soft. I was worried the salt would tangle my hair, but using the Big conditioner actually made my hair easier to comb through after getting out of the shower. Not only did I find it really nice to use on my hair, it is also helping with my dry scalp/flakes while most other drugstore AND high end shampoos dry out my scalp like crazy. I'm excited to keep using this shampoo!

I am a professional hair stylist with fine hair, and I don't have a lot of it. As a professional I was skeptical about using non-salon professional shampoo, but I have come to LOVE Big.

I find that it really does smell like the ocean, but it doesn't overpower your soap or perfume. I lathers well, cleanses completely, and leaves my hair silky soft once it's dry. It gives a great shine all by itself, and I don't need to use products to add shine anymore. Almost ALL products are too heavy and weigh my hair down, but this doesn't. It also doesn't affect my color (a dark brown-red), which is very important.

You WILL want to use a conditioner or detangler, as Big does create a LOT of tangles, which are not easy to comb out while the hair is wet. I use a wide tooth comb to detangle after I've rinsed out my conditioner (don't use a brush - hair is more fragile while wet!). If you're lucky and it doesn't tangle your hair, you will still want to use a conditioner regularly because sea salt -will- began to dry your hair out. I recommend the Big Conditioner. It is an AMAZING partner to this great shampoo, giving you all the benefits of Big while conditioning and detangling! It doesn't counter-affect Big at all.

I am absolutely in love with this shampoo. I was shopping around Lush the other day just playing with all the cool products they have and the woman helping me showed me Big. I was hesitant at first because i had never seen a shampoo with salt in it lol i was also hesitant in buying it because of the price. However, the lady gave me a sample and i tried it that night. After the first use I was hooked!! I used it until the sample was gone and went back to buy the bottle. This product lasts foreverrrr! A good 2-3 months i would say, so the price is actually pretty cheap if you think about it. you're only buying it every few months. My hair is very fine and most shampoos are wayyy too heavy on my hair. Big is amazing and leaves my hair amazingly clean without drying it out. It has really changed the quality of my hair for the better!! Try a sample if you're unsure, but I'm telling you, you'll go back to buy the bottle lol

I was excited to try BIG, especially after reading so many positive reviews. I have thin hair that tends to be fragile, and I have been looking for something to give my hair more oomph. Unfortunately, this shampoo actually weighed my hair down and made it look even thinner. Also, if you color your hair, be warmed that this product might cause significant fading. The reason I'm giving this two stars is because BIG did leave my hair incredibly shiny and lovely smelling. All in all, I understand how this product works for so many, but sadly it isn't for everyone.

this shampoo gives my locks that salty sea air with lots of shine and volume that you get after swimming in the ocean, but without the sand! the salt gives my scalp a little exfoliation and it lathers up well. I like to rub a little bit of American Cream on my ends after because it can be a bit tough to run a comb through after using it. all around best shampoo I've used!

I am always all over the place on shampoos, buying whatever is on the latest commercial or recommended in a magazine. My sister got this for my birthday last September, and I have used it ever since. No other shampoo compares. It gives my hair just the right amount of volume, makes it smell great, de-greases it, and keeps it so healthy. I have noticed a significant decrease in split ends, and I always get compliments on how shiny and soft my hair is. I would 100% recommend this shampoo to anyone, especially those looking for a little volume.

I just washed my hair with BIG this morning and the difference was astounding. I'd been using Seanik on my hair for about half a year now, and though Seanik did help me with volume and big, fluffy curls when my hair was shorter, it just wasn't cutting it as I tried to grow my hair out. I got a gift card for my birthday and finally caved in and bought the black pot instead of a shampoo bar. I'd been resisting switching over to BIG because I'd never paid that much for a shampoo before, but it was totally worth the price. I barely had to use any of the shampoo before I had a big, soapy lather worked up and when my hair dried it was basically styled for me! A little bit of The Big Tease rubbed through my hair and it was styled exactly how I wanted it, no hairspray required! My hair is soft and fragrant and so full of bounce and shine! Goodbye hairspray and backcombing, BIG is here to stay!

I use this once a week as a nice little massage for my scalp and to get my hair super clean. It lathers up nicely and feels amazing on my scalp. I have oily hair that is super thick so I need something like this to get rid of any buildup.This works beautifully and leaves my hair so shiny and soft. I do use Happy,Happy Joy Joy afterwords as I do need conditioner in my hair.

Since last year my hair is been falling out and becoming thin but my hair has become more volumous since using this product. Came by it by chance. I use about three times a week. I love the smell and the sea-salt exfoliates the scalp. Big leaves the the AWESOME and VOLUMOUS!

I'm biracial with very long, wavy, thin, frizzy hair. I'm able to blow-dry my hair straight; however, if I want it frizz-free, I have always had to follow up with a flat iron. I was skeptical at first with the consistency of both BIG and Veganese, but the combination of these two products is nothing short of miraculous. When I bought these items, I let the Lush salesperson pitch the benefits of these products but not thinking too much of it (it's their job to tell me how wonderful the products are, right?) Holy Mother Of Bliss! She was 100% right! I guess I really didn't realize how much traditional shampoo and conditioner coated hair leaving nasty residue. I loved how light, clean and healthy my hair felt after only one use! Just to play devil's advocate, I washed my hair with my old shampoo and conditioner the next night... I could feel its inadequacy immediately. BIG and Veganese blow my mind, and there is now no going back. The best part is, (with a few drops of Frizz Ease for fine hair) I don't even need a flat iron anymore!!! I can blow dry straight achieving the softest locks I've ever had in my life... literally can't stop touching my hair. The only downside I can think of is if Lush ever discontinues these two products. Thinking about having to find replacements for these lovely wonders is just dreadful.

This is the most amazing shampoo I have ever used. I started using it about a year and a half ago and am completely hooked! My hair tends to get oily easily and fall flat. This shampoo thoroughly cleans my hair AND gives it volume! I have also noticed that my hair doesn't get as oily anymore, which is awesome! It was a bit strange to use at first as I had never used a salt shampoo before, but now that I am used to it, I love it!! When I use it I scoop out about a tablesoon's worth (maybe a bit less) and put it on my crown. I lightly place my hand over my crown and quickly dip my head back into the water. This allows just enough water to help lather the shampoo, but not enough to wash it away before I've had a chance to use it. I lather it up and give my scalp a good scrub all over. When I rinse my hair it feels very clean, almost as if I had used a clarifying shampoo. I would recommend using conditioner with this shampoo as it may leave your hair a bit dry without. Since my hair gets oily I only apply conditioner to the ends of my hair. The shampoo leaves a light citrus smell, but it certainly isn't overpowering. I love, love, LOVE this shampoo and would definitely recommend it!

I never write reviews, in fact this is my first one! This is the most ah-mazing product I have ever used. My hair is oily and fine and requires daily washes and multiple products and hours of blow drying to achieve the results I have gotten from Big. My hair is so fine that it never holds a style or curl, but with Big my hair did as it was told and easily curled with just a round brush, even better the style lasted All Day. I honestly didn't think that it was possible to have bouncy, voluptuous, shiny hair, like seen in the commercials, but with Big it is! The best part is it smells great, lathers crazy good, and not alot of product is needed to achieve results. It also has this incredible tingly feeling on my scalp. This pot is going to last a long time seeing as how I need only wash my hair every few days. LUSH I am in LoVE!!!

I have had Big for a week now and used it a few times and I love it overall! I can't help but try products that are new and unique and it is a huge plus when the product is phenomenal. It gave my limp, straight hair so much volume and shine that even my husband noticed the difference! The lather is amazing and if the shampoo accidentally gets in my mouth, it just tastes salty and not chemically ;)

The only downside to this for me is the smell. Ick! Most people love the smell but it really turns me off; I think I'm just weird because I don't like Honey I Washed The Kids, either. Ha!

I typically have sad, straight, upside-down triangle hair; you know, big on the bottom and flat on top. After using Big in tandem with Retread conditioner, my hair is the exact opposite in the best way possible. Tons of volume and shine and my hair feels so clean I can go two days between washes if I want.

I would say that Big could be very drying if used every day or every other day depending on your hair. For some it might be best as a weekly deep cleansing shampoo and I would definitely reccomend using a heavier conditioner like Retread if your hair is light and straight like mine.

That being said, I have princess hair and I couldn't be happier.

Wow, my friend and I both bought this last week while on vacation in Orlando, Florida. First of all, the associate who helped us at the Florida mall was fantastic!! SO friendly and not condescending to be helping two middle aged Mommas :-)
This shampoo lathers enormously, smells divine and gave my hair a ton of volume! My friend agrees, her hair had ALMOST too much volume :-)
We both used it with the American Cream conditioner and we couldn't be happier!

I enjoyed the volume I got from this shampoo, but when I went to the hairdresser (after using a pot of it regularly) she had to cut off way more from the ends than she usually does.

Using this product I wondered whether the salt would bother my hair, but I thought Lush might have provided at least a hint of that on the label, were that the case. Hm. I don't know what caused this, but I'm unlikely to risk it with Big again.

this is literally the best shampoo i have ever used. the lather is unreal, the smell will remind you of an all inclusive beach vacation. my bf (who doesn't even have hair) uses it bc the lather is so addicting. leaves my hair surprisingly shiny and soft and volumous. I do not use everyday but i do not think it would hurt your hair.

BIG is one of my favorite shampoos from LUSH. The salt exfoliates my scalp and adds volume. Since my hair is thin, one container of BIG lasts me about 2 months. Plus, the lather on this thing is amazing and really all you need is a dime size amount of product. I only use it on my scalp because it does tend to dry out your ends so make sure to use conditioner!
*This may sound weird, but I like to store it in the fridge because the cold shampoo feels SO GOOD on the scalp haha. Don't knock it till you try it! :P
