I was skeptical to try this product, but I am glad I did. I am half Asian, and have fair skins. So, I use self tanners or glimmer lotions in the summer time - avoiding sun bathing. This product goes on brilliantly, and smells wonderful (cinnamony, spicy, hot). I leave the bar in the plastic bag only pulling out a small section to rub on my legs. This keeps my hands clean. On fair skin, it gives a nice sun bathed look with a beautiful shine. I did make the mistake of wearing this with white pants. In the heat, it will transfer color - so be careful. Otherwise, it is beautiful on.

Put this on right out of the shower. I LOVE the shimmer and natural looking tanned look it gave my legs. And my legs glow in the dark they are so light! Melted right into my skin, it's just like putting lotion on. No streaks. I can't wait to go out and show off my new legs!

I bought two of these bars based on the reviews I read here. I have pale skin and was looking for a nice natural glow with the warmer summer months coming up. I expected this to smell tropical but instead it smells kind of like cherry almond or something - not a bad smell but not as wonderful as I had expected. It is OK and I will definitely use this - but it is somewhat difficult to rub into my skin - even after applying body lotion before hand. It is messy and does rub off on clothing and sheets etc. Not a home run for me but not a complete disaster either.

I've been using various Lush products for a while now, but I've never tried Black Stockings. I'm super pale and always use some kind of fake tanner during the warmer months, but most fake tanners have tons of chemicals and are a pain to apply.

I'm so glad I finally decided to give this product a shot. This stuff really works! It gives a nice healthy, natural looking tint to my arms and legs and is super easy to apply. I've used a lot of fake tanners in the past and this is my new favorite.

It does take a little time to rub onto your skin so it looks blended, but I don't consider it a huge hassle. As you can see from the product photos, it has a shimmer to it, but it's very subtle once it's been applied to your skin. It's also incredibly moisturizing and you can easily add more or less depending on how tan you want to look. And like most Lush products it smells wonderful.

I think this might be the only self tanner ever that looks like a real tan. It makes for kind of an olive skin tone, which as a pasty white girl, I have always wished I had.
Putting it on, it feels very moisturizing and soft, but you have to rub pretty hard to get it to coat your skin evenly. This was no problem on my legs, but trying to get my tummy evenly coated was kind of a challenge.
Also this didn't hide stretch marks, as another reviewer said it would, probably because the difference between tan skin and white stretch marks is a lot more noticeable than white stretch marks on white skin.
Still a nice product though, very natural glow, even if you have very pale skin.

When my mom first showed me this product, I didn't really pay much attention to it because I was already a loyal user to another self-tanning product. However, now that the colder months are here, I'm SO grateful for this product so I don't have to choose between a moisturizer or a self-tan (the thought of applying your typical, chemical-laden self-tan to my dry, chapped skin just makes me shudder...). Now, I get 2 in 1! It's gentle and very moisturizing to dry skin (no burning!), and there's no strong scent so it feels very clean on. Plus, it's a temporary color (rather than something that interacts with your skin) so you don't have to worry about any missed spots or patches appearing hours later. The only downside is that you have to really massage it into your skin, so it's not a "slap-on-and-go" product. But given how luxurious this lotion bar is, it's actually a rather nice process so I highly recommend this for a self-tan!

Not wanting to waste the product by getting it on my hands, I've found the perfect method of applications for my lower legs. This is the area I use this product most, as my arms and shoulders tan easily, but my lower legs are naturally pasty white.

I run the bar in stripes along the length of my lower legs, covering all over.
Then, I rub my lower legs together. The color infuses easily, and it is totally mess free. Then, if I see some bare spots. I dab the bar into that area and rub it in with a finger.

I realized that on the days I wasn't shaving, (I recently had my legs waxed) the color stayed on my legs for an extra day or two. Shaving removes all of the color. The color does not come off onto clothing or sheets.

Easily, this is the best tanning product I've used so far. Application is direct, it lasts, and the color is spot on.

I am often torn between having moisturized, liquid-paper white legs and having dry, bronzed gams. Black Stockings feels great going on, has a lovely spicy scent and lasts a good long while after applying. I find it to be a little bit red in color, but combining it with the Lustre body powder (good gold color) results in a gorgeous olive tone and smelling like a goddess. I use this bar all over, anywhere below my chin works with a little massaging. Anyone that complains about having to rub the bronzer in is silly---you wouldn't smear any other bronzer on without rubbing it in, would you? Most of all, Black Stockings washes off easily and doesn't stain clothes. Love love love love it.

Being fair-skinned, I love lying out in the sun to give myself a nice tan during the summer. But living in western NY, I can only do this for about 3 months out of the year. I'm so happy that I found Black Stockings! I just take the bar and rub the underside directly onto my skin (I use it mostly for my arms) and it leaves a beautiful bronzed highlight! It looks very natural and the touch of shimmer just makes my skin glow! I'm actually dreading winter a little bit less now because now I can give my skin a little tan every day even without the sun. It melts easily on contact with skin, so after using it I just rinse off my hands really quick and I'm ready to go!

I have pretty fair skin. I absolutely LOVE laying out in the sun during the summer because it allows me to get a nice tan, but living in western NY means I only get to do this for about 3 months out of the year =( And I refuse to ever go to a tanning salon. I didn't think I would ever be able to have any color in the winter, but then I found Black Stockings! I just take the bar and rub it directly onto my skin and it leaves me looking bronzed and shimmery! I'm very excited about this product because now I don't have to worry about losing all my color in the winter because I can use this to give myself a little glow. Unlike other methods I've tried in the past, you don't need to use a whole lot and it's not messy at all. It hasn't rubbed off on my clothes or my bed sheets. I just wash my hands after using it because it melts easily in your hand, but that's it!

I would have never thought to buy a body tint since I'm already brown, but the sales girl at Lush suggested it and with one swipe on my forearm I couldn't leave without it. It showed up as a sparkly pink on my mexican brown skin and it was lovely. The smell is a bit strong, not like shimmy shimmy at all which is suttle so I tend to usually do my legs and just a small amount on my arms and chest. The color though is gorgeous. It comes off on my like a deep pink with small sparkles, its gorgeous.

I already had Shimmy Shimmy and Silk Stockings and decided to try Black Stockings. So in love! Shimmy is great for (you guessed it!) shimmer, and Silk gave me a subtle pinkish-bronze sheen of color. But Black Stockings goes perfectly with my skin!!! Just enough color to make me look tan without looking fake or orange. I tan easily and have olivey skin, and this bar blends well while leaving a nice tint of color. I would buy this again and again! Especially great for summer to enhance a tan!!

I got this because I have pail skin due to not being in the sun a lot. Not to mention it smells great. But when I got home and used it after I showered and shaved I found that not only did it look like I got some weird kind of sunburn but that It looks COMPLETELY different in sunlight then it did in indoor light. I was really disappointed so I washed it off. When I got into the shower I discovered how soft my legs where! So instead of taking it back I keep it to moisturize my legs when I have the time

I have fair skin that darkens just a few shades in the summer. I use this on my makeup-free days. Just some good moisurizer and add this to my cheeks for a little color and glow. LOVE IT. I also use it to add highlight to my legs when I want sexy-looking legs. This stuff will last FOREVER, too. Just make sure to wash your hands after applying it!

I've had Black Stockings for about a week, and now think it's a summer must have! I did order it online, and was dissapointed to see it had melted in the shipping process. I was worried about that happening considering it is summer and has been very hot. But, although it might not be the perfect shape afterward, it can be popped in the refrigerator to fix that. I'm naturally fairly pale but use self tanning to keep a glow during summer. This product suits my skin-tone perfectly and adds that extra tint and glow I love to have. It does smell like black licorice right off the bat, but does (to me) take on a more pleasent sent once on the skin. For me the smell is not a problem, in fact I kind of like it, but for some it could be off-putting. Overall, I really like this product and think it definetly adds that extra tint and glow everyone desires during those summer months!

I recently fell in love with LUSH, and was anxious to find a bronzer f!or the summer. Most bronzers are too light and leaves my skin looking very ashy. This product is OUTSTANDING! It leaves my skin with a lovely bronze glow that is to die for. I use this on my legs, arms and chest. Love, love, love this product

I rub a little of this on the front of my legs and rub it in and my legs look like they have seen sunlight! This is fabulous! I don't need a lot because when you first put some on you look a little orange until you rub it in. Since I use so little the change is just enough. It looks like my legs are sunkissed and not the glowing white they usually are.

Make me feel more confident when showing off my legs or any area that is in need of a little color. My skin also feels great and it smells lovely. Definitely okay for us pale folks! An item I don't plan on every being without.

I didn't like this product and i hate giving negative reviews for lush but this for me wasn't good. I put it on after my shower like others recommend so it doesnt streek. BUT you have to put it on fast so your legs are still pretty soaked. On top of that after I put it on and i looked at it in natural light i looked sunburned!!!
So I scrubbed it off in the shower which was nice that it came off so easily. After my first bad product from lush i was pretty down UNTILLLL! I rubbed my legs, wow where they smooth!!! I can't stop rubbing them.
So for over all, if you are going to try this make sure your legs are decently wet, do check the look in natural light, and if you don't like it at lest your legs will be soft :)
