Let me start off by saying, I am 24 years old, African American, female and I have battled Eczema my entire life. My skin is extremely dry and I would have to put on lotion about 4 to 5 times/day only to have what is considered "normal skin". I've gone to countless doctors, who have prescribed regimens consisting of steroid creams, putting moisturizers on while wrapping my legs up with plastic wrap overnight, oatmeal baths...etc. I've done it all NOTHING worked. A friend told me to try the Buffy bar, I was skeptical because to me nothing else was left to try. So, the Lush clerk did an in-store demonstration. Instantly!, Instantly! (No, I don't think you understand...after 24 years of trying different products...INSTANTLY!) my skin was soft. I am completely Amazed at how my skin has completely transformed over the past 3 weeks of using the Buffy bar. I now only have to apply lotion once a day and I am no longer ashamed/embarrassed of my skin. The Buffy bar has crushed almonds in it, it can be a bit rough on the skin, however, it doesn't bother me. I bought my mother the same bar, the course nature of the bar is to much for her so she uses the King of skin body butter. Which is basically, the Buffy bar without the roughness and chopped exfoliation pieces, just pure moisturizer for the skin. The smell is similar to the smell of pure Shea butter (not the best in the world, however, I don't mind because it moisturizes my skin, the smell is the least of my worries. I just put on some perfume or body spray after I shower). Rarely, do I write reviews unless it's a product I truly believe in. So, I just want to Thank YOU LUSH...for giving me Hope because I am extremely self-conscious about my skin. However, now I am learning my skin is beautiful. I am going to buy your products for the rest of my life! :-)

This is an expensive product, and I'm a little disappointed that it is disappearing so quickly. That said, it's disappearing because I'm using it A LOT! I have a rare genetic condition that makes my skin super soft and elastic--and also sensitive and prone to dryness. After scratching the &@!! out of my boyfriend first, I learned to swipe gently.
As a decades-long devotee of an entirely different moisturizing product, I was skeptical that this one could possibly be moisturizing enough to work alone. And, with my sensitive skin, I rarely exfoliate. But this is a winner on both counts--I can use it daily without a problem, and I haven't had to slather on additional creams or lotions.
The only real negative (aside from its short-lived nature) is the smell. Not bad, but I'm all about yummy smells. I don't like perfume--too strong--so I rely on bath and body products to scent myself. This one is a little clinical. But--followed by a generous dusting of Candy Fluff, I was inspired enough by my first Lush experience to order $150 worth of additional stuff online!
I included another body butter in that order--I'm sold on the concept, but I think I just haven't found "the one." Even so, it's a lovely product, and I'm certainly enjoying it. As a dedicated "green" consumer, I especially appreciate the packaging (or lack thereof!)

the store in Boston suggested it would derease cellulite sites and lumps and bumps, and they were 100 percent correct! The bar puts a smooth layer sealing your skin and making it super soft and it lasts.I am very tight with money, but I will never go without my "Buffy Bar".

I just recently bought Buffy and am so amazed by it! I was a little nervous to try it because of how scrubby the reviews said it was, but I am so glad that I tried this. I don't ever want to be without this product. I love Buffy because it buffs really nicely and leaves soft, gorgeous smelling moisturization on the skin. Some think it's too greasy, but I think it's perfect for my ultra dry skin. Did I mention the smell? It's herbal and very fresh smelling. My skin feels so so so soft and my husband even noticed!
Just a note to those worried about the bar melting. When in the shower, point the spray away from you while you scrub with Buffy and then put the bar aside, away from the spray before you rinse off. Rub the butters into your skin as well before rinsing. Blot your skin, don't rub, with a towel. You will be left with stunningly soft skin. No lotion needed, but if you want to, follow up with Vanilla Puff Powder.

For as long as I can remember I have had eczema and little red itchy bumps on my forearms and chest. I have tried numerous lotions (even prescription) and nothing has ever helped! So I thought I would try buffy. Amazing! After one use, my arms feel so smooth and are even less red! My skin does feel a little greasy after use, but no more so than after using any lotion.

The smell of the bar itself is a very strong herbal scent. It seems "practical" rather than perfumey. I didn't like it at first, but it has grown on me, and it definitely smells better on my skin than on the bar. The effects are quite nice, too. I'm not sure that it's actually helping my keratosis pilaris, but I AM sure that it makes my skin feel buttery soft and smooth for hours afterwards. Also, anyone who is worried about how long this lasts: break the bar into small pieces and keep it out of the water/spray.
One more thing-- cellulite is has to do subcutaneous fat. You can't get rid of it by exfoliating. Buy Buffy for rough skin and small surface bumps, not for cellulite.

I love to use buffy bar at the end of my shower. I rub it between my hands under running water, then I rub in circular motions all over my legs & backside. I was surprised at how moisturizing this really is! I thought it might be too abrasive for my skin, but it's not at all. When you wash of the pieces before you get out of the shower the butter doesn't come off with it.

WARNING: this review is not for the faint of heart. i bought this to exfoliate and moisturize my legs. it did a great job of that. i also used it to exfoliate my butt and thighs and i was pleasantly surprised to find that it also made my cellulite way less noticeable after only one use! i didn't have much cellulite in the first place, but after using buffy i really don't! recently i've been too busy to work out as much as i want to, so buffy is a godsend. the backs of my thighs look smooth even if i don't have time to do a million squats. one warning, though: the first time i used it, i wasn't thinking and i used it to exfoliate BEFORE shaving my legs. bad idea. it gunked up my razor and i ended up slicing up my legs pretty badly! only use buffy after shaving. it will leave you soft and smooth and looking amazing. i'll be buying this product forever. i only wish it wasn't so expensive - i'm a college student on a budget.

I wanted to use this as a scrub before shaving my legs, but it left such a rich, oily layer that it clogged up my razor. So then I used it all over in the shower; it left a slick layer on my tub floor, and I didn't feel very clean afterwards. The seeds get everywhere in the tub. It's definitely moisturizing, but too greasy for me; doesn't seem to absorb, I can feel my skin sticking to tables + chairs afterwards- not pleasant. I have dry skin, too. i'll stick to the sugar scrubs.

Amazing Product does what it says very well. I have extreme dry skin specially after showering and this really helps with that. However I can understand why people say this is too heavy or greasy for them, this would best suit people like me who have dry skin but oily skinned people should think twice before getting it. Personally, I really like the scent.
One thing I don't like about the product is that is melts/gets used up waaay to quickly, however to combat this and also the slightly over abrasive texture, I usually cut my bar into three chunks which makes it last longer and makes the abrasiveness more tolerable.

I use this in the shower, I just point the shower head away from me while I use it because it will melt in your hand. Once you rinse it feels like you put on a really nice, heavy moisturizer, but during use, the ground almonds are a little harsh and scratchy. If you don't like a tiny bit of greasiness this may not be for you, but it feels amazing after I shave my legs, or when my skin gets dry and chapped. I will repurchase this over and over, it's so awesome.

Just amazing. Buffy really helps with my cellulite around my thighs. I am definitely going to continue stocking up on this for the rest of my life. It just feels so good after its washed off and smells really good too.
One of my good friends has keratosis and was recommended this product and the first day she used it (along with dream cream) the keratosis around her arm flattened out very nicely. It truly works and is definitely worth it. a MUST for me, especially after seeking out a bunch of different exfoliants and solutions to my cellulite. Thank you guys for being so amazing!!!!!!!

I was really intrigued to try this product. I used it in the shower and was very disappointed. It leaves a "thick" feeling on your skin. It is a greasy product that lef my shower floor slippery and I had to use shampoo on my shower sponge to "de-grease" it after use (my soaps would not suds after having this product on it). It would be perfect to use on your legs after shaving - but don't use it in the crease of your knees or arms...it will feel "sticky". Will not purchase this again.

This is the BEST thing that has ever happened for my husband!! He has tried EVERY lotion,criso, bag balm, soap around for his super dry, scaling skin. This is the ONLY thing that has ever worked!! I use Buffy in the shower about two or three times a week when my skin needs extra moisture. In the shower, it seems like Buffy makes my skin really greasy. However, once I'm done with the shower my skin no longer feels greasy - just smooth. Buffy does an excellent job of moisturizing and exfoliating.

There are no cleansing ingredients in the Buffy to remove dirt, oil, or bacteria, so I'd still recommend using a bar soap or shower gel before the Buffy. I used Buffy for the first time yesterday after leaving my Kertaosis alone for years (I had a prescription for it for a while but never faithfully used it as it didn't help that much). In one day, I've seen a noticeable difference in my skin! My bumps are disappearing and are less red! It's kind of amazing. This product 'body butter' is mainly used to soften skin. Keratosis is a skin condition where your hair follicles harden. This may help with the condition but it will not cure it. There is prescription medication to help with Keratosis.Answered on 1/25/2012 by Community Answer from NoneA:
