I was so excited to put on lush henna. Making of the henna was not that bad as people say it is. Putting it on was a mess!!!!I wish they would make it easier or have like a hair dye applicators. Anyways I slept with it for about 8 hours. Washing it out was horrible!!!It took me at least good thirty minutes to wash it out. When it dried I could still see lot of grey hair. I was so disappointed. My husband put it on so well but there were still lot of greys!!!!I am very disappointed.

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
This was the easiest hair color application ever. I read all the reviews about application being messy and I have to diagree with all of them. Color was thick enough not to spill all over like most dye. You can rub it into your scalp and it wipes right off if you line your face with grease. I used Coconut oil and a handmade shea butter lotion. A few quick tips: Instead of chopping up the 2 block sections that I used, I put them both in a magic bullet blender and blended into a powder. It was super easy to stir the hot water into it. I also took a mirror into the garage and applied the hair color there so I didn't make a mess. I only wiped up 3 small drops from the garage floor. Hair looks so dark and still natural because you still retain your natural highlighs. I had bleached tips and everything came out perfectly!

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
I tried this product for the first time today and I love it. I have extremely dry, curly hair and I wanted to make my naturally dark brown hair look darker. When you first purchase this product, it smells a bit like fresh tea. But once you add the hot water to it the smell can be a bit unbearable. I left the henna in my hair for four hours then rinsed it out. Rinsing for me was the hardest part of this process. I first rinsed it with just hot water, then conditioner, then shampoo, then twice more with conditioner to get all of the dye out. Once, all of the dye was out I put R&B in my hair for extra moisture. My hair is finally dry and it looks healthier, thicker and darker. I will definitely continue with this product

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
So I am a 16 year old girl who has naturally light brown hair. I had never dyed my hair before and I didn't want to damage it because its so shiny. I usually have very low expectations with beauty products so my hopes weren't high. This henna completely exceeded my expectations. Not only did it make a beautiful dark brown black color, but it made my hair even shinier. Ive discovered that instead of replacing the color, it sort of creates a layer over the hair, making it thicker. Ive had it in for 5ish weeks now and its still mostly maintained its color. Ive been getting tons of complements. People have been telling me how much shinier my hair is now and how natural it looks. Ive never been more happier with my hair.
When I first bought it, it smelled fine. The man who worked there told me to use gloves and grind it up. I had done a lot of research before so I had a good idea of what to do. I highly suggest doing your research. Youtube is the best for this product.
1) I ground it up with a cheese grater first. Its longer and and harder than it looks. Your arms eventually wear out. I used half the block because I have very long hair. When I ground it I ground it directly into a large glass bowl so it wouldn't make too much of a mess. Be careful of where you grind.
2) I poured hot microwaved water into the bowl with the henna. MAKE SURE NOT TO USE TOO MUCH WATER. IT WILL MAKE IT RUNNY. I learned that the hard way the first time I used it. It continuously dripped down my face and neck and made a giant mess. Add just enough water to make it into a paste. In my opinion the thicker it is, the better. Stir it up the immediately start applying it
3) When you apply it make sure you have gloves on. The first time I used gloves and the second time I didn't. Big mistake. I had smurf fingers for the next weeks.
4) I started applying it at the top. Then I'd twist it into a sort of curl and stick it to the top of my head. Every time I'd get more, I would just keep adding to the top. Make sure you get every little hair.
In the end I looked like I had a boy cut. It was flat mud against my head and I looked ridiculous. People say the smell is terrible. Its not completely terrible, its just the fact that you smell it for hour and hours straight. I kept mine in for 3 hours the first time and my hair came out very dark. The next day I did the same and it came out a little darker. When you wash it out its grainy so you know when its all out. Start with a ton of conditioner and a comb then shampoo then conditioner again. Your hair will smell for a couple days, but not too bad.
I never write reviews about anything but this was something I really really loved. I price is actually very good too considering I used one big block for three uses.
I would 100% recommend this. AMAZING PRODUCT.

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
This is my first time ever writing a review on a product but when I was researching henna dye I found so little information (about the noir color specifically) and how it would work on Caucasian hair. I am Italian and have extremely thick, black, curly hair about shoulder blade's length. I started going grey very young (20) and tried to hold out as long as possible before I started to color. This past summer at 27 almost all my roots and new growths were grey so I gave in. My hair dresser recommended a semi-permanent color from Sally's. I used it a couple times and it did the job. Covered the grays nicely but totally destroyed my hair in the process! My curls went limp, the chemicals burned and dyed my scalp (resulting in bad dandruff) the ends of my hair became dry and split, and on top of that the color kept fading to a brownish red after only three weeks. After three rounds of box dyes I started looking for alternatives. When I read about henna I noticed I had to wait 8 weeks if you've previously used chemical dyes. I waited about ten.
The product arrived and I was surprised that people complain about the smell because I found the bar smelling like any essential oil. However once you add the water it really does smell like poop! I used 4 squares because my hairs so thick, figured better to have more than not enough but turns out three would have been just fine. I grated them down (even though in directions it says it's not necessary I had watched a couple YouTube blunders so decided to do it anyway). I didn't add any addition ingredients. Some of the videos I had seen people were adding coffee and tea. I recommend using newspaper on the floor, and sink of your bathroom while applying. It makes for very easy cleanup. The application was messy but I liked the consistency of the paste, I was able to tell exactly where it was going and if I needed more. I left the henna uncovered for 2 1/2 hours and couldn't be happier with the results! My hair is sooooo shiny, and bouncy. The color is completely even and my grays are 97% covered. The black color came out beautiful and looks very natural. My scalp feels great with no burning or itching (hopefully no more dandruff but we'll have to wait and see). I recommend this product to anyone who is sensitive to chemical dyes or just wants to be more conscious about what's being absorbed into their body. Things to keep in mind: I applied to clean dry hair. When I rinsed out the henna I didn't use shampoo or conditioner and I didn't add any styling products because I want the color to continue to develop for the first couple of days without interference. After rinsing the smell is totally gone. Yes, it is messy but the results far outweigh the mess. I'll never use chemical dye again!

I put the brick of henna into a paper bag and smashed it with a hammer - took no time at all to soften up! It is gross, tho - I accidentally dropped some on the floor, and my dog started rolling in it, as dogs are wont to do with smelly things. Beyond that, it is very gentle. My hair feels about the same, but whatever - I was aiming for the color!

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
First of all I've literally tried all of Lush's Hennas. I have to say this one has to be my all time favorite! The other ones are so red, which isn't really a bad thing I just wanted something darker and more of a brown. I did't really get a black, but I am not complaining on that. Its such a beautiful dark chocolate color inside, but shines beautiful indigo in the light. I've only used half of my block so im sure the next time I do it the effects will be even better. I have to say i usually DONT use a cheese grater to break down my Henna. I just cut it into smaller chuncks and let it steep. But I did quite a bit of research before I used this one and found that indigo developes ALOT faster when it heats up then other colors so I decided to try the grater. Not only did it save me time with the whole steeping process and bowl over a pot of hot water but it just seemed to make my whole experience alot more enjoyable. Also I heated the water up to exactly 122°F. Its was hot enought to melt all my henna perfectly (even better cuz it was grated = ]) and put on my hair even faster. Yes Its time consuming and and yes its messy but worth all of the hassle. LOVE LOVE LOVE this!

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
I'm kind of surprised by all the great reviews of this product, now that I've actually used it.
Application was fairly easy--it was messy, but I don't think it was much messier than my past home-dying experiences. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't stain my skin at all, which was nice. I added a lot of lavender oil to the henna, although I don't think it did much to alter the smell. I actually didn't notice the smell during application or while the henna was on my head, but I noticed it for about a day or two after...I just constantly was getting whiffs of my hair and I thought it smelled like wet freshly mown grass. Bleck.
The worst part of the actual henna-ing process was washing it out. Made a complete mess of my shower. Wasn't too difficult to get out of my hair but my entire bath was left with a greenish residue everywhere.
As for the effects and color: I started this process with healthy (completely un-dyed) hair, about medium brown. I don't use products on my hair or blow dry it or anything. After using the henna, it didn't feel silkier than usual or like it had been "conditioned" at all. I did notice the color change right away and was happy with the result--a nice natural black with some red undertones. I was hopeful that the color would deepen a little more but instead the opposite happened and it quickly began to fade over the next few days (now a week since I henna-ed it). There is still a slight difference from the color I started with--my hair is more of a dark brown. But it's a far cry from the black I was hoping for.
I still have about 3 1/2 blocks left, and can probably get another 2 treatments out of it. I'm hoping the color will darken with subsequent applications (I'll try again in 4 or 5 weeks), but for now I'm unimpressed, especially since it's basically an all-day process to use this stuff. I didn't see or feel any conditioning effects from this product and the color results were disappointing. The after-smell was also really irritating. I like that it's natural and was happy with the initial results (within the first 12 hours after I henna-ed my hair)...just wish my hair had retained that lovely natural black color instead of quickly fading to dark brown :(

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
I have hair that goes down to the middle of my arm and the thickness is medium. I have asian hair and it was color treated before. It was like a auburn/brown/orangy color. I wanted to tone down the color and match it with my original black hair because I dont want to do any further damage to it and want my black hair back.
The sales girl suggested me to use the whole bar to get a great effect so I did.
I am a college student so I don't have all the kitchen utensils to help me melt the bar.
I suggest you to add a little warm water to soften the bar a little bit and then break it into small pieces if you don't have a proper tool. Then add more warm/ boiling water to mesh it up. Make sure you have gloves, towels and things to keep your bathroom clean. I didn't so I had to spend some time getting them off the sink and the floor. It didn't stain my skin or clothes though.
I started off with the bottom half of my hair and realized that I should have been more organized in terms of sectioning my hair. It was a mess so I called up my friend and asked for her help.
It took me like an hour to put all the "cow poo" into my hair. I left it there for 2 hours counting from the time after all my hair was covered with the dye. the sales girl suggested to leave in 2.5 hours and she told me no matter how much time you leave that in your hair, after the indigo has oxidized, then it wont have any effect on hair.
So I left it there for 2 hours only because my neck was so stiff. I washed it off with silicone free shampoo twice followed up by a hair mask/ conditioner.
I am pretty satisfied with the color however... the lower part of my hair, which was the first part that i put dye on and the longest, turned black and greenish. Because my original color was sort of orangy, it produced greenish color. Which I am fine with because it is not so obvious. The top part was like a hazel/ cool brown color. It changes under different light. Sometimes it looks like dark brown, under the sun it was light orangy brown and in the dark its black! just kidding.
My hair felt really soft and today is my third day after dying. I haven't noticed any hair damage from the dye. So far so good!

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
I followed the method of reviewer "TobieH", (5th time the charm) and it was an easy and successful first time try for me. I'm in my early 40's and have virgin hair that hasn't been dyed. I have Asian black hair thats soft and thin, and have started to get a few greys that I can no longer ignore. My hair is dark brown black so even though I don't want raven black hair, I didn't want the red effects of the henna in this product, so by following "TobieH's" detailed methods, I got the indigo blue black effect I wanted, Thank you!
- rough cut 3 blocks for my just at shoulder length hair. I would grate it in future to melt the dye even faster as i did have a few tiny chunks that stayed lumpy.
- use water at 50 degrees Celsius(122 Fahrenheit)and 1 Tbsp Salt. I do agree with not using boiling water because ive researched that indigo activates within 30 minutes so you don't to waste extra time for the dye to cool down before you can get it on your hair. The added salt intensifies dyes, especially for dark colors.
- mixed it in glass bowl, got it on my head in 15 minutes.
- air dry unwrapped to get the indigo effect, for 3 hours.
- rinsed it all out with conditioner, then shampooed and condition again.
- soft and shiny hair, with my greys softened or ashened so that they were mostly not noticeable, with a few strands being still brighter grey, but no longer WHITE!
This dye is suppose to intensify with each application, i cant wait to apply again in 3 week's time. so thrilled with the softened grey effect. I no longer have stark shiny white strands of hair stuck through my Asian black hair, the overall effect is even, more black than my natural dark brown black, with just a few lighter grey strands of hair here and there.

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
My hair has never felt so soft. And shiny. I was bummed that the first application didn't give me the dark black I was hoping for, but after doing some research, I found that the color needs to build up. It was super messy, and on my thick hair I did have a hard time applying it. But like most things I will try it twice, just in case I messed up the first time. I'm going to chop it smaller and make it a little thinner. But I defiantly LOVE the way my hair feels.

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
Used Caca Noir for first time over the weekend, and was surprised that it was not nearly as messy for me as others have warned, and the smell was not overwhelming (especially once I wrapped up my hair). My hair, before starting, is a natural medium brown, dyed black for over ten years. I've been detesting the super coarse texture my hair has been in, and experiencing major hair fall out: needless to say, I couldn't bear to dye anymore. After hemming and hawing over the commitment, I bought Caca Noir after a few before/after shots impressed me with the improved hair condition.
I followed the instructions provided by Lush (chopped coarsely, steeped in hot water over a bain-marie, and blended adding more boiling water as needed). Half the brick/three squares used for thick, just past the shoulders length hair. Easy enough and not messy. Application is another story. This stuff is just like mud and doesn't easily work through thick hair. I could have used a second pair of hands for the back. Also, as it dries and cools, it hardens and flakes off. I did this part standing on paper, which I just rolled up. A little messy, but easy to clean.
I used a little lotion around my hairline, and was able to simply wipe away the stray bits of henna, once my hair was wrapped. I did not get any staining around my face, ears or neck. Also liked that my scalp did not turn black/blue which it always did with dye. I left it on for five hours, watching movies and cleaning house; no biggie.
For rinsing, I soaked my head in the shower and shook the hair/mud mass to loosen and release the henna muck. Once I got as much out as I could with just water (and my hair was thoroughly knotted at this point) I coated with cheap conditioner and rinsed again, then shampooed and conditioned as usual. About 15 minutes total and I was all rinsed. At first, I was underwhelmed with the color, which was not very dark, and my hair did not seem particularly conditioned though the shine was amazing. I cannot overstate this: The shine is worth the effort alone.
Next morning, my hair was darker and most grays covered. The few grays that remains appear as super shiny bits. My husband and best bud didn't notice them at all. For the record, I only have a splattering of grey throughout the crown. As for the smell, it lingered and by the next day I was totally over it. I used Jasmine and Henna Fluff Ease on Sunday, before showering, and now that's all I smell. Delicious! (Note: forgot to use a dark towel after second shower, and did not discolor my white one)
I will be giving it another go in two weeks, to further darken the color. Next time, I will have help for the actual application and plan to leave my hair uncovered for the darker/bluer tones described by others. So far so good, and worth the effort. I treated this as an experiment, knowing I may need to take a break from all forms of coloring for a while if it didn't work out. For now, I'm happy with the result. My hair is shiny, looks really healthy and is a nice change to the seriously damaging boxed dyes. (Note 2: clean up was easy. Anything in shower, around sink, on skin, came off with quick wipe up. Nothing stained.)

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
This took me more than a few tries to get it right. I understand the frustration of other reviewers, but it just takes a little patience, research and the end result is worth it! I don't mind the fragrance of the henna. It smells a little like alfalfa and tea. Earthy.
I have thick, dark chocolate brown/black, chin length bobbed hair and have been using gross chemical dyes for about 15 years. The frequency of use was increasing because the color just wasn't taking to my hair and greys were sprouting everywhere. My hair was breaking and dry.
I used Caca Brun the 1st 2 times, switched to an even mix of Brun & Noir, and then switched to Noir. I did all of these for 6-8 hours (or overnight) covered with either plastic or a towel turban. My 1st dye was awesome an then everything after that was too red and the grey coming in was looking weird, orange and stripey. I was getting very frustrated, but I'm not a quitter! So I read everything on Indigo & got it right on my 5th try.
So here is my trick:
I shampooed, and used a clarifying rinse to strip any buildup on my hair. I use only natural hair products, and we have very hard water, so I figured buildup might be getting in the way of this product. The rinse is 1 cup warm water + 1 tbsp baking soda. Massage through hair for a few minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. NO CONDITIONER!
Get a condiment bottle!! It's a life saver. I cut a bit of the tip off to widen the opening, so the thick bits in the Caca wouldn't clog. I also keep a bamboo skewer nearby in case the tip does clog.
Grated 2 blocks on a cheese grater. This made the mix incredibly smooth. I used Water this time(NOT COFFEE! Indigo doesn't need the acidity)at 50 degrees Celsius(122 Fahrenheit)and 1 Tbsp Salt. The purpose of grating is to get the Indigo mixed fast and on your hair ASAP. If you want the Red from the Henna instead, you don't need to do this, but the same darkness won't be achieved. Indigo activates fast and should be put on within 15 minutes of mixing. I had water ready in the coffee maker on warm and mixed the Caca the minute I got out of the shower. I did not use the bain marie method. I mixed it up in a glass measuring bowl with a small whisk so I could pour it into my bottle fast. I made it a little bit thinner than normal so it would stay relatively wet and be easier to get on quickly (like watery yogurt, not a paste)and got it on my head within 5 minutes. I put extra on my most noticeable reddish grey stripe. It was no more difficult or messy than a chemical dye. I DID NOT COVER IT with plastic. Indigo needs air. I kept it on for only 3 hours because everything I've read says that Indigo needs anywhere from 1-3 hours to dye. I figured that all the red I was getting previously was from leaving the Henna part on for a very long time and covered which brings out the red.
The Caca rinsed out easily in a few minutes. I shampooed once and conditioned. I am now THRILLED with the result. My hair is ridiculously shiny, smooth, healthy and is not breaking. Most importantly, my stripe is gone and the greys are covered. Try this method if you're having trouble getting the dark color you want. It's worth the healthy result and every time you color it will darken. I'm "coloring" every 3 weeks or so now. A 3 hour treatment that makes my hair healthier every time is not a big deal!

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
Use a grater it makes mixing simplar.
Add hot ( not boiling water )
Mix to a creamy, yogurtlike consistency.
Yes it smells, however it's tolerable.
live it on 2-3 hours unwrapped for a beautiful deep yet soft black result.
1-2 hours in cling wrap will give you a brown black result with beautiful red glow in the sunlight.
Use it every 4-6 weeks 3 times in a row and the color last what seems like forever.
After the 1st 3 uses you can touch up every 2-3 months for maintenance.
I wont down play the experience.
For beginners it seems very labor intensive.
after the 2nd and 3rd use and going forward it becomes second nature and much more simple.
Bottom line I get constant daily compliments on my hair ( to the point of being annoying )
I am a Lusher for Life..

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
I bought this on a whim to see how it measures up to the mix your own henna and indigo that I usually use. I've got to say I'm not impressed. While it might smell better - it's messier and doesn't grab onto my hair like the other henna/indgo mix I use. It takes twice as long to get the right consistancy as well. I love LUSH products but this won't be one that I use again.

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
First of all, this IS a time consuming product that smells like cow manure. HOWEVER... I will NEVER use anything else on my hair! Never has my hair had so much shine, nor has it looked so healthy as it has since I began using Caca Noir. I have quite a bit of gray and have to apply it once a month. I wait until I have a whole day when I will be at home because I like to leave it on for four to six hours.
My hair goes to about the bottom of my ears, so one block is enough for me. I keep a glass bowl expressly for mixing the henna, which I cut into pieces and mix with a tsp. of olive oil and hot black coffee. I wrap my head in Saran Wrap, cover that with a plastic grocery bag, and hide for the rest of the day.
Rinsing can be difficult. I rinse with water, then add conditioner and rinse, shampoo and rinse, and finally condition again. For the first few days, I do NOT use a good towel on my hair, as the henna will stain it. I also spray just a bit of perfume above my hair because there is a lingering wet grass/manure smell that is not very pleasant.
The results are well worth the difficulties though. My hair ALWAYS shines. It is thick and soft and natural looking. My scalp doesn't burn from chemicals and I don't feel guilty about what is going down my drain. I have used this for seven months now, and I am still in awe every time I color my hair! Just don't forget to put Vaseline around your hairline, neck, and ears to avoid henna stains!

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
The best thing about this hair dye is it is natural! I have lung issues and am extremely sensitive to smells (chemical) so being cautious I don't dye my hair, get nails done, etc. It stinks. So I thought I would try this. My husband says it stinks "a lot" and like a "plant". The smell isn't too noticeable to me though.
Regular hair dye is very smelly.
The biggest negative of this hair dye is the time!!!!!! 1 to 6 hours is a long time.
As I write this review I have the dye on my head and it has been about 45 minutes. I plan to keep it there another 3 hours. I hope it is enough. I did coat my face, neck and ears with petroleum and am happy I did!

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
Other than getting highlights or lowlights put into my hair at a salon, I have only dyed my entire head ONE time (well 2 times if you count the $7.00 bottle of black I used to dye my hair a few months before trying the Caca Noir) I loved the change so much but decided I needed to seek an alternative to the chemicals because I can't do that to myself every 6 weeks or so. I bought a brick of the Caca Noir, my girlfriend came over and we had a little hair dying party. Thank God she was there because it was a little confusing and very messy. I actually slept with the stuff caked on my head. My biggest and only complaint other than it being time consuming was the smell. It gave me the worst headache, and the smell didn't go away for a couple days after washing it out. Other than that I LOVE LOVE LOVE how the color turned out. I have dark brown hair to begin with, it made my hair a color that I don't think I could achieve with any bottle of chemical hair dye. It was black with blue and red tints. It really looked amazing! I have bought my second brick and will try to do it alone this weekend. I can't wait.
PS I forgot to mention I used coffee as the hot liquid that I mixed it with.

Comments about Caca Noir Mama Hair Henna:
I purchased the Caca Noir Mama Henn Bar yesterday after reading every blog written about the product. Let me start off by saying, most of the reviews I read stated the bar smelled bad. I sniffed the bar in the store and thought, "not so bad.'' Got it home and got all of the items I needed ready to do this. I grated the bar, so it would be easier to blend. I used two squares for my, just above the shoulder length hair. I warmed the water and poured it over my now powdered Caca Noir. The smell hit me and I now understand what other reviewers mean. It's like grass that's been mowed and left in the bag for a few days. I would like to think that I can leave this in my hair for six hours with no wrap, BUT, at this moment, it ain't gonna happen, lol! We'll see if the smell dies down after it starts to dry. As far as other reviewers saying its messy, I didn't have that issue. I don't know if it adheres to coarse hair easier, but I didn't have t put newspaper down. I did get a little on my sink, but it wiped away easily. I'll update as I start the rinse process, but for now, the only con is the smell.

How much of the block does one use at a time? Do you use a couple of pieces or the whole block?Asked on 1/14/2013 by AnonymousKnow the answer? Answer this question
1 answer
A:
The amount that you'll need depends on the length and thickness of your hair: short hair will only need one square from the six-square block, and shoulder-length hair may need 2 or 3. If your hair is so long that you can sit on it, you'll probably need the whole bar!Answered on 2/28/2013 by Brandy from LUSH

A:
We recommend using the products when they are fresh, and we label each one with a best before date. We don't recommend using the products after this date has passed, as their effects won't be good, and in some cases, the product may no longer be safe to use after that date has passed. Fresh is best!Answered on 10/26/2012 by Megan from LUSH

It's hard to predict how henna will react to each person's hair which is why we always recommend doing a strand test first to see how the henna will take to your hair. This way you can see if you will get the results you're hoping for before coloring your entire head of hair! Also keep in mind that you may need more than one application to achieve a shade you're happy with.Answered on 11/2/2012 by Anonymous

Since we do not test our hennas on previously color treated hair, we definitely suggest waiting about 6-8 weeks before using the henna over synthetic dye. As always, we strongly recommend performing a strand test before coloring the entire head to ensure that you are happy with the final color.Answered on 11/5/2012 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
Q:
I've been reading in online henna forums that people like to add things to henna in order to release the dye, like green tea or apple cider vinegar, but we aren't instructed to do so for the LUSH Cacas. Is it really necessary to add those things into the henna and let it sit overnight for dye release, or is it all right to use the henna straight away? Thanks!Asked on 8/20/2012 by Maya S. from Queens, NYKnow the answer? Answer this question

In late November, we are launching a new gentle, SLS-free shampoo for treated, dyed or coloured hair. It's called Blousey. All of our conditioners are SLS-free, and for color-treated hair, it's best to choose one without any citrus-related ingredients. Retread, Okra and Coolaulin would be some great choices!Answered on 10/31/2012 by Anonymous
Q:
My natural hair color is light to medium brown; however, I have been coloring it a blackish brown with a chemical dye for almost three years. I would like to switch to LUSH's caca noir henna, but I understand that chemically treated hair is more porous and thus absorbs color more quickly than virgin hair. Should I wait a certain length of time before attempting to use henna, and do you recommend any special precautions for someone in my situation?Asked on 8/2/2012 by Dora from Castleton, VTKnow the answer? In cases like this, it's best to wait approximately 3 weeks to a month before applying the henna. As always, we strongly recommend doing a strand test, and it's especially important in cases like this. That way, you get to preview the results before taking the big plunge!Answered on 10/30/2012 by Brandy from LUSH

Since it dries and hardens, it may chip like fine sand around your nape. That's what happened with me! I wasn't left with any stains.Answered on 5/27/2012 by Jack Jack from Miami, FLA:
While henna can definitely stain the hairline and/or skin, it does not stain the way a synthetic dye would because it takes much longer to process. If you notice spots of henna touching the skin, simply wipe off the area. To prevent any staining we suggest applying Ultrabalm around the hairline, as it will block the color from dying the skin.Answered on 9/5/2012 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
Q:
Hi I have previously dyed black hair with brown roots and grey. I am allergic to hair dye now so cannot use PPD anymore. I am reading that I will have to put the caca rouge or caca marron on first in order to cover the greys. I am uneasy about red being on top of my previously dyed black hair since I am trying to keep the color. I was just wondering if the red or brown would not change my black much or if the caca noir would return it to its black state again. Does caca rouge and caca marron cover greys the same or is one better? Thank you so much!!Asked on 5/3/2012 by Alex from New Orleans, LAKnow the answer? Answer this question

A:
I'd recommend doing a strand test first with Caca Noir to see if it will cover your grey and brown hair, or if it will be necessary to do another step before the Caca Noir to get dark results. Some hair is more resistant than others, which is why I like to check beforehand. If you find that Caca Noir doesn't cover the gray and brown on your strand test, then I'd perform a strand test with Caca Rouge, to see if that will cover well, and then after that strand test is complete, apply Caca Noir on top of the Caca Rouge'd strand test to see how it takes. If the results are not to your liking, then I wouldn't perform a full hair application. I hope this helps!Answered on 5/8/2012 by Megan from LUSH

A:
The darker Cacas such as Caca Noir and Caca Brun can be tricky when you are trying to cover grays, as the indigo plant has trouble adhering to lightly colour hairs. If your hair is over 40% gray, I would not recommend using the products. Also, because the Cacas work as a varnish over top of your colour, the gray areas will still be lighter than other areas that are darker. You may want to use Caca Rouge or Caca Marron first to cover all the hair, and then the next day, or later the same day, you could apply Caca Noir on top. Please remember to do a strand test though!Answered on 3/7/2012 by Megan from LUSH

A:
The Cacas fade gradually over about 6-8 weeks depending on your hair and how frequently you shampoo. We find that there isn't a harsh regrowth line with the Les Cacas like there would be with a synthetic dye, but it may take the hair more time to fade if the hair is porous.Answered on 1/30/2012 by Megan from LUSH
