Cupuacu trees are a traditional rainforest food source native to Brazil and Cuba. Cold-pressing the seeds of the cupuacu fruit creates a thick, rich butter high in beneficial fatty acids.
We buy ours from a local co-operative on the banks of the Amazon River. The rich butter is sometimes used to make white chocolate!
We love using cupuacu butter because it’s incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for the skin and hair, and can be used as a vegan alternative to lanolin. We use cupuacu in our R&B hair moisturizer to soften brittle ends, and in The Big Tease styling gel to stabilize and add shine to the hair.
