I can't decide if I like this product or not. I got it since I love chai tea but I've since surrendered it to my mom. It doesn't smell like chai tea with water, honey, and milk or whatever else you would put in a mug of chai it smells like the plain tea with added spice. Honestly, it reminds me of the potpurri balls you can buy around Christmas time at a craft store. I don't think I'll be buying it again

Well, well, well Chai, we know we have to say good-bye some day, but lets make the most of it while we can. I'm glad I purchased this shower gel in my first Lush order. It smells "dark" and spicy to me. Originally when I bought it I thought it was going to be my go-to soap for waking me up in the morning. Unfortunately the smell is more cozy than invigorating, reminds me of winter, and makes me want to go back to bed! The gel is pretty thin, but that isn't a problem when I use a loofa. Overall, it was a good little one-time treat, but not a favourite.

My first Lush purchase included Chai shower gel, back in 2003. I was going on a cruise shortly thereafter and brought it along. The amount of compliments I received, about how GREAT I smelled, shocked me. I am alergic to many perfume-based products and cannot by anything that is not labeled "no scent." Chai has saved me from "no scent."

I don't understand the any reviewer who thinks this has an "unpleasant smell," but then again even the most expensive perfume gives me a headache and makes my stomach upset.

I was VERY upset a couple of years ago when I heard Chai might be discontinued, but happy to se it in RETRO.

Love the smell, a rich, spicy, almost musky scent, not feminine at all. Ex-husband used it as a shampoo, too, loved the way he smelled afterwards and it lingered for at least a few hours. I found it dried my skin out after using it - usually I use Flying Fox and don't need to moisturize after a shower but with this I did, which meant I didn't get to smell like spices for the rest of the day. Bummer.

I love tea. I love chai tea. So, naturally, I thought that I'd love this shower gel. I found out otherwise. This shower gel has a spicy scent that did linger on my skin after use, but it didn't smell like chai tea at all. The smell actually reminds me of cough syrup. :\ I definitely won't be buying this one again. I'm glad I ordered a small bottle!

I opened this bottle expecting the smell of chai tea... What I hit my nose was NOT chai tea at all. It was awful. And it wasnt just me that didnt pick up a hint of chai, my mother also smelled it and agreed. The lingering scent was bitter and gave me a headache. Why would you sell something that doesnt smell a bit like its name?! I drink chai tea everyday, and I was hoping for something that would make me smell as good. This is NOT good at all.

If you like anything spicy, I would say you'll definitely like this. It doesn't smell like a chai tea latte you would get from starbucks or anything. It's not a sweet smell. Just spicy. If you have ever smelled 'the smell of freedom' perfume by Lush I think it is quite similar to that.

Just like the last person wrote, I am also an avid chai drinker. And honestly I think it's a pretty good "chai" smell. I mean it doesn't smell like chai tea lattes from starbucks, it's not a sweet smell. But very spicy and lovely. I would guess that most people who love spicy scents will definitely like this product. If you've ever smelled the smell of freedom perfume by lush, I think the 2 are QUITE similar. Oh and the scent lingered on my skin a while which is also a plus.

I am an avid Chai drinker, but I was skeptical of ordering this product after the reviews. PLEASE, if you love Chai...you MUST have a bottle of Chai in your shower, 24/7/365. It's smells exactly like it says and the wonderful warming sensation is not at all overwhelming and definitely kicks up the sexiness factor! A MUST HAVE!!

Today was a very cold, snowy day... so I decided it was time to try one of my newest Lush purchases- Chai Shower Gel.

I am an extreme lover of Chai and all things spicy and warm. When I opened the bottle, I wasn't sure what to expect. I could smell tea, cinnamon and spice. Te minute I put some on my shower scrub.. the bathroom filled with a spicy, cinnamon chai scent.

The gel is warming and spicy... yet moisturizing. It did not dry my skin at all.

I will definitely be using this from now on! My only con is that I wish the scent did stay on your skin longer... it seemed to fade rather quickly. If you're a lover of chai or things that are spicy and warm.. give this one a try!

Lush- please make more Chai scented products!

This soap is great in that it makes your skin feel wonderful! Unfortunately, it smells like a sick toddler, and it stays. Forever. I had to throw away my shower pouf because it just reeked of Chai. The smell is simply repulsive. I wish I hadn't spent [$] on it.

i was excited about this one until i smelled it and my stomach retched. i dont know if its the cinnamon or the ginger but i CANNOT get past the smell, it makes my stomach queasy. smells nothing like the tea...the smell sickens me. last time i'll ever buy this.

I bought this to go with several other spice scented products I'd purchased, thinking it would compliment them. I was so disappointed when I opened the bottle to sniff it and found what little scent it had was only vaguely spicy. If that was what my chai tea smelled like, I'd be getting it remade. It was faintly medicinal, with only the barest hint of spice. Add to that the fact that it's runny, doesn't lather very well and is extremely drying and you get one sad panda. I've had the bottle sitting in my shower for months now with little noticeable usage. I really only use it when I'm quick showering off at night and don't care how I smell or when I'm showering my son. It leaves more of a spice scent on him, but still, really only faintly. You have to have your nose touching him to smell it at all.

Do not judge how this product smells in the bottle. It smells a little weird in the bottle, but once you start to lather it the sweet smells of cinnamon and vanilla a hint of ginger are released. I really like the scent that it leaves on my skin. My one complaint is it is a little runny, but is taken care of once you start to lather it. I like it!

I love that Lush has such unique fragrances. I got this as a sample in my last order and it smells pretty much exactly like chai tea. I LOVE the smell! When I make my next order, I'll be buying this because it's great. In a world of shower gels that smell like fruit or flowers or whatever, it's nice to come across one like this that has a bold, one-of-a-kind great smell.

Service and delivery comments:

I just want to say for the record (and I'll say this more than once) that my package got held up by the FDA and customs and UPS couldn't tell me anything. It was so frustrating. Then I sent an e-mail to Lush and within 24 hours, my package was back in circulation, my shipping was refunded, and my stuff got here a few days later, just fine. Love + trust = Lush.

I decided to try this after reading of it in the catalogue -- I never used this during its original run. I expected it to smell like a chai spiced tea. In fact, it smells nothing like that at all, though that's not to say the fragrance is bad. It's a very woody, spicy scent; in fact it would be a nice product for a man to use.

For the actual body gel, it's good quality, and actually seemed to make my skin feel unusually slick when I was out -- I don't know if it's just it cleans better or if it's got a glycerin in it or something, but I felt very clean and smooth. I think it might make a really good blend for a foot-bath.

I got this in the mail today and couldn't wait to use it. I opened the bottle and took off the protective seal and all I could smell was cough syrup. I thought that it might change scent once it hit water, so I used it in my shower and the cough syrup smell remained.

Luckily it didn't linger on my skin, so I can't rightly complain about that. But I was sooo eager to try this and to like it. Never before have I tried a product from LUSH that didn't smell at least a LITTLE like what the description said it did.

Maybe I just got a bad batch, but 4 stars is all I can give because it is very good at cleaning, and other than the smell there is nothing wrong with it.

I was surprised by the smell, it doesn't smell like Chai to me, but it does smell wonderful. I catch the scent faintly throughout the day, but it doesn't linger... Leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. And I smile. It's not a die-hard favorite of mine, but I've thoroughly enjoyed every time I've used it. If I order online again, I might have to get another bottle...
