I was really excited to use Curly Wurly because so many people with curly hair have been raving about it. I have really curly, unmanageable hair and I heard this was a dream product.

When I first went to use it, the texture really through me off. It didn't lather very well in my hands and it wouldn't spread in my hair the way I wanted it to. I realize now my hair probably wasn't wet enough (apparently you need your hair and hands to be incredibly wet) and the coconut flakes were everywhere. All over the bathtub, and all in my hair. It was awful. But then when my hair dried, it was so soft and curly, I decided to give it another whirl. I through it in the blender with a little bit of water and made it into a really nice puree that's really creamy. It still has some coconut flakes, but not the big chunks like it had before. This time it was a dream to use! It lathered up so nicely and went in so smoothly. I love it!

So that would be my suggestion to anyone. It's a shame it doesn't come creamy, but it's still wonderful and I would definitely recommend it to anyone with curly hair, as long as they have a blender ;)

I have a love-hate relationship with Curly Wurly. My hair is short, curly, and pretty ordinary. But, since it can get very frizzy, I'm always looking for conditioning products. Enter Curly Wurly. Once you get past the learning curve for optimal use of this product, it's excellent. Unfortunately, that learning curve is pretty steep.

First, it smells incredible, both in the pot and in my hair. The coconut and vanilla smell sweet and clean. Its actual texture, though, is clumpy and waxy; scooping it out of the pot and getting it to lather is a bit of a pain. Even after adding water, it is hard to get the clump to break apart and lather without dropping a lot of it. With some care, I rub my hands together while continuing to add water until the lump of Curly Wurly gets to be the texture of a paste. I spread that paste through my hair, and if Curly Wurly was a conditioner, it would be just fine. But I need my shampoo to be slick and sudsy, otherwise it just sits in lumpy patches in my hair. With a little bit of practice and patience, I continue adding small amounts of water to my scalp to get the shampoo through my hair. As soon as I start scrubbing (running my fingers through my hair helps to accelerate the lather), my hair immediately feels thicker, healthier, and more voluminous. Fortunately, unlike other reviews, I don't have an issue with the coconut flakes. I don't care for them, especially because they contribute to the lumpy texture, but they always rinse out with the rest of the shampoo just fine. Finally, if you want your hair to be both clean AND soft, you might need to use a bit of conditioner even after Curly Wurly. Something thin like Veganese is perfectly sufficient.

Overall, this product is great as an occasional hair treatment. (Personally, I alternate Curly Wurly and Big.) It leaves my hair smooth, healthy, and does wonders against frizz. However, the process of actually USING Curly Wurly can be such a hassle that it sometimes just doesn't seem worth it. When I get it right, I like it quite a bit. I'm not sure if I'll buy it again, though.

Comments about Curly Wurly Shampoo:

This was my first shampoo from Lush. I was very skeptical at first. The shampoo itself is a tad hard to lather, but while its in your hand just mix it with water and it will be fine. I find that coconut is left in my hair, but it brushes right out.

The shampoo itself made my hair super nice and curly looking. This is I HAVE to use conditioner after this, it makes my roots oily and my ends dry. Most shampoo does, but this does especially. After a bit of conditioner to the roots it's all fine.

I just love the way this shampoo curled my hair.

I use this shampoo every few days, simply to switch up my daily routine and since it was a little pricey, but I find it worth every penny. My hair feels so much healthier in the days following the use of it. I live in a very humid climate, but I find that it has positive effects on my hair and minimizes frizz as well as giving me some body to my hair.I love the fact that it has coconut pieces in it, too, though it could lather a little better.

      Comments about Curly Wurly Shampoo:

I have very fine tight curly colored hair, and these products have brought it back to life. I get compliments everyday and the smell when all products are together smell divine and my co-workers love the smell too because it lingers in the air. I have been using curly wurly for 2 weeks now and my curls love it. I had to get over the coconut pieces and the fact that they don't all come out when I rinse, until I use a conditioner. My curls have become more defined and less frizzy, I go to bed with my hair wet and wake up with bouncy curls. I do not use heat products or brush my hair except right before I shower. I love lush products, you just have to sample everything to come up with the best products for YOU! Price yes it's high but worth it, you know what you are using and you know it's a product that doesn't hurt animals. Yay!

      Comments about Curly Wurly Shampoo:

An amazing Lush employee in the Pentagon City store gave me a sample and I was hooked. I have (kind of) a lot of fine, wavy to curly, frizzy hair and its always been hard to find products that encourage the curl but tame the frizz. This. Is. It.

I usually wash my hair every 2-3 days and this will still leave it feeling clean. It doesn't lather very much but I've gotten used to it. It encourages my natural curl pattern, leaves my hair light and bouncy but in control. Paired with a great conditioner this shampoo is a god send for me.

Last bit of testimony- The first time I used it, I came out of the bathroom after styling and my boyfriend said "Did you get your hair cut? It looks fantastic."

        Comments about Curly Wurly Shampoo:

I started looking up different Lush shampoos to replace my current. The last couple of shampoos I have tried have left a lot of build up in my hair and have made my wavy/curly hair look very weighed down and drab. I started reading reviews on Curly Wurly and got mixed signals about the product. I went into Lush and the lady gave me a couple of samples and I think it is amazing. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and plan on buying a container tomorrow.

Honestly, I think people are not lathering the shampoo well when they are in the shower. Just get your hands wet and lather in palm of your hand until it becomes a bit pasty and most of the flakes are broken down. Then add a little water to your shampoo paste to make it more liquified and there ya go! All the flakes rinse out when I do it like this and I have seen major results.

My hair has more bounce and is back to it's normal, full self. I don't get build up and the dandruff that my hair developed with the other shampoos has gotten so much better and is at a bare minimal. I'm hoping a few more weeks will get rid of it all together.

While the shampoo has made my hair less corse, I wish it softened it up a little bit more but besides that it's perfect. I have definitely found my favorite shampoo!

        Comments about Curly Wurly Shampoo:

My partner went to Lush and specifically asked about coconut shampoos because coconut oil is such a hair essential for many with thicker hair. She has extremely thick, coarse, tightly waved hair, and finds it difficult to manage. Our cheerful and extremely nice salesperson recommended Curly Wurly and it seemed to be everything she was looking for in a shampoo.

She tried it a couple of days ago, and was extremely disappointed. It's thick and clumpy, didn't lather well, she couldn't get her hair wet enough for it to work properly, and the coconut just kept getting stuck in her thick hair- even after conditioner and two thorough rinsings, we were picking out bits of it. She said her hair felt clean, but the next day, her hair was as frizzy and unmanageable as ever.

Curious, I decided to try it on my hair. My hair's thick, but each strand of my hair is finer than hers, and it's much shorter and gets wet more easily. Mine also has a loose wave. On me, with my hair very wet (that seems to be one of the keys to this product working), it lathered beautifully, all the coconut bits rinsed out, and it left my hair feeling extremely clean. I figured that's all it would do, clean hair, especially after my partner's results on her frizz.

To my shock, my hair the next day dried (with nothing more than just the shampoo and American Dream conditioner) glossy, smooth, and with just a hint of wave, not the crazy uneven loose waves and frizz I usually have. It looks like I flatironed it it's so sleek, but with more wave and volume.

In short, please, please, ask for a sample before you buy this shampoo. The Lush salesperson we talked to was happy to give me a sample of American Dream conditioner to pair with it, so I urge you to consider that. For some, like me, this shampoo can be a dream product, but for others, like my partner, it can be a clumpy, coconutty nightmare.

          Comments about Curly Wurly Shampoo:

Before using this product my hair was always fried and dried. Not necessarily because I heat styled my hair it is just the nature of curly hair. So I went into lush and asked the people what shampoo I could use to clean and not dry out my hair. The guy and girl recommended Curly Wurly. The way they told me to use the product is to take a little bit of it and apply to VERY WET hair. The way I do it is I place my head under the running water and lather it on my head. Once it is lathered I step out of the water to lather it all over my head. If your head is not drenched and soaking wet the product will not lather and will not clean your hair. Also something I like to do is let the product stay in my hair for 5 or 10 minutes (like a masque) because the ingredients in the shampoo are very moisturizing. I follow with retread and my hair feels like silk and has so much shine. :]
Also a tip from the people from my lush. If you find yourself picking out pieces of coconut throughout the day you're probably using too much of it.

It does seem to help with friz, and my hair feels nice after washing but, it lathers poorly and smells odd. It's not a bad smell, but I wouldn't call it good either. I'll use the rest of the pot, but I doubt I'll be buying it again.

I was so excited to try this product, but it ended up being a big disappointment. I knew about the coconut flakes and was expecting it to be tricky the first few times. However I did NOT expect this shampoo to tangle my already wild curls even more. The coconut flakes are difficult to rinse out thus adding to my tangle problem. I would look past this if it had made my hair soft and manageable like it advertised, but my hair felt dry and slightly crunchy. That texture your hair gets after swimming and drying out in the sun. :( I really love the smell and was complimented on that but the cons outweigh the pros with this product. I'll just have to try some other products and hope for better results.

                    Comments about Curly Wurly Shampoo:

I have long, thick, corkscrew curls & I have wanted to try Curly Wurly for a while but was hesitant because of price. Luckily, I received a jar as a gift along with some other Lush goodies back at Christmas. I was really excited to use it, but soon became disappointed. It did not later well at all, and it left bits of coconut behind in my hair to the point where I looked like I had a bad case of dandruff. I thought perhaps I was doing something wrong, so the next time I visited my local Lush I asked one of the ladies who worked there for help. She told me to scoop some into my palm, get it wet and rub my hands together to work up a good lather. I've tried washing my hair with it again in the manner recommended to me. Unfortunately, I am still yet to get the results I had hoped for. I think I will stick to Lush's solid shampoo bars instead.

I wasn't really sure what to expect when I ordered this since I have a mixture of waves and curls; but now the curls are super defined and have a lot more pep in their step, it has also cut down on much frizz I have. I have been looking for something to help me out with it. My only problem with the shampoo is that sometimes the coconut flakes take a bit more to wash out, other than that this product is amazing.

                      Comments about Curly Wurly Shampoo:

So for most of my life I have had ringlet curly hair but for a couple years in college my hair went flat and lifeless for some reason. It had absolutely no volume anymore and it used to be so wonderful. It was so awful, I was sad. Several months ago I started using Curly Wurly and it really started bringing my hair back to its old self. In general, my hair was getting curly on its own again but this shampoo is amazing and really is a great aid in making it healthy and super curly. The shampoo was different in how it lathers and I had to get used to using it. At first I did waste a lot but I looked on reviews and learned that you don't need alot but you just have to rub it between your hands a bunch to get it going. I use this with American Cream Conditioner and the R and B leave in if my hair needs extra conditioning. It is quite expensive for how little of a container in it, however you are paying for quality and I noticed that my hair is so much healthier. The smell really stays in for a long time too. So amaxing, I really hope everyone with curly hair can try this sometime!

Also I want to say this about all Lush products in general. My finance has a very severe sensitivity to chemicals including all "regular" household cleaners and regular body products from say the grocery store or whatever. He starting using all Lush products instead-soap, solid shampoo, super balm, shaving cream, massage bars for lotion (they are cheaper and are solid lotions!). His previously very oily skin, acne and his dry itchy danduff scalp all disappeared. His skin overall feels so much better and he doesnt have allegeric reactions to these products. I was excited when he finally tried them after all my harassing ( lol) and actually got hooked. These products are great for people who are sensitive to the harsh and often dangerous chemicals that are put in so many body products of today. He was hesitant at first because well he is a male haha, but he saw instant physical changes in his skin and was very pleased. LOVE LUSH!

This product is amazing! My hair is a mixture of waves and curls, and the curls are extra defined and springy now. I also don't have as much frizz anymore. One tip i'd reccomend is making sure your hair is pretty wet when you put it on. Also, rub it in your hands before you apply it to make sure it's evenly spread and lathered up. The only complaint I have is when I rinse it out, the ends of my hair are pretty dry but that's easily fixed by my conditioner. Overall, it's prety much a must-have if you have wavy or curly hair, as it really brings your curls to life and makes them extra bouncy :)

                          I love this product!!!!!

The first time I ever saw this was shortly after i had gone to LUSH for my first time.

I was looking online at everything, and I scrolled through the shampoos and found this one.

This is my DREAM product because I have VERY curly hair and it is extremely thick as well.

This totally made it less frizzy, and makes it smell great.

After I went swimming with my BFF, in the showers, she could smell it, and she loves it!

even though she has non curly, un frizzy hair, I would buy this for her.

My hair is very curly and likes to pouf up like nobody's business.

Curly Wurly is awesome because it helps to hold down the frizz, define my curls AND make my hair super shiny!!

No, it doesn't lather like a mother, but that doesn't mean it's not cleaning your head. Lather does not equal clean, it equals more lathering agent (SLS).

The only thing I don't love about Curly Wurly is the shredded coconut. Is it necessary? It's only slightly annoying, but that my only thing.

                          Curly Wurly, I love you.

Curly Wurly has done wonders to my hair! Before, my hair would dry out frizzy and poofy. I have short curly hair and I am trying to grow it out. The coconut butter moisturizes my scalp and the actual shaves of coconut help in cleaning my hair. I love you Curly Wurly!

                              Comments about Curly Wurly Shampoo:

My hair isn't really curly, but it is very thick and long and tends to be a little dry, especially toward the ends and especially during the winter. I decided to try a sample of Curly Wurly in hopes of finding a good moisturizing shampoo and I am really glad that I did!

I was a bit worried after reading in some reviews that the creamed coconut pieces were getting stuck in people's hair, but I actually ended up experiencing no such problems. I made sure that my hair was thoroughly wet from scalp to ends and then I took a little blob of Curly Wurly in my hand, added some water to it to make it more liquidy, and then used it as I would have used any other shampoo. I rinsed and then conditioned (using American Cream), and the coconut pieces washed right out :)

When I brushed my hair afterward, one or two tiny pieces of coconut did fall out of my hair... but that wasn't a problem and, besides that, I could tell right away that the results of the shampoo were well worth it. My hair was so soft and shiny and had a yummy coconut scent that lasted all day long.

Bottom line: I will definitely be buying a pot of this when I get the chance!

I think it depends on the length of your hair. Mine is almost shoulder length. I always get a lot of uses of LUSH shampoos. I have had BIG for 6 months already, and I use it almost every day. Now, this is my first time trying Curly Wurly (I just got it yesterday), and I am pretty sure it will last me for a good 4 months for sure if I use it daily. I know it's pricy, but, what I know a lot of people do is order it through the UK website. It's cheaper that way and it takes about a week to receive it. For me the price is not too too bad because of the way it leaves my hair: moisturized, soft, shiny. So, it's worth it. It's much better than pricy salon brands, which don't work for me.

It is a little high up there in price but it is worth it. If you have super curly/frizzy hair like mine i would only wash it every other day (every 3 is best if you can) the frizz will be cut down and you will get more out of the pot. As long as you only use what you need and not more than you need you will have it for about 3 weeks depending on the length of your hair.

With Curly Wurly, just a little bit goes a long way, so you should expect to get many uses out of one container. This of course will vary depending on how frequently you shampoo, and how much you use each time. The shelf-life for this product is 14 months. We use wonderful fresh ingredients of the highest quality which is reflected in the value of this shampoo, absolutely.

You only need about a quarter size for each wash, I've had mine for about three weeks and I'm a fourth of the way through the pot! Hope I helped! The product is totally worth the price though, there's also the Trichomania solid shampoo bar that isn't too pricey and brings moisture to your hair!

It is pricey, but totally worth it. I had the same problem at first. I bought it in the beginning of Jan and I am at the very bottom of my jar just now. I feel like that is better than most drug store shampoos. So one jar has lasted about 5 months. I typically wash my hair every other day, but sometimes more frequently.
