I am a hair stylist and was skeptical about trying this shampoo because it has lemon juice in it. Lemon juice is terrible for your hair because it is so acidic that it dries it out and makes it very delicate and brittle. I read great reviews and have always heard that beer is great for your hair, so I decided to give it a shot. SO glad that I did! My hair is like satin, shiny and soft. I have tried top salon brands and have never got such a shine from just a shampoo alone. My only complaint is that it did not lather well, so at first I was uncertain on how much I actually needed.

I have used shampoos with beer before and loved the result so I was quite optimistic. This shampoo did not lather well AT ALL with just one washing, I had to lather rinse repeat TWICE to get it to lather. Then my hair felt like straw and was very tangled. Thankfully the conditioner (alot of it) softened and detangled well.
The smell was awful. VERY strong and did not dissipate. I smelled the patchouli scent(which is no where on the bottle but I know that smell because I do NOT like it) for 2 days.
If you do like patchouli then this is the shampoo for you.

Having never used a Lush product before and after weeding through the negative reviews, I was skeptical that this shampoo would work for me. Boy, am I glad I went ahead and bought it. I have very thick, very frizzy wavy hair, and one use of Cynthia Sylvia Stout tamed it like nothing I've ever tried! My hair feels incredibly soft and has a great shine to it. I wasn't crazy about the smell prior to using it, but once I was in the shower and lathering my hair I found I actually enjoyed it.

Admittedly, I can see this product not being fantastic for some. People with thin, oily, or very straight hair might be happier with another product. And while the scent grew on me, even stout lovers might not enjoy this fragrance. But if you struggle with unruly frizz, by all means, give this one a try!

I cannot say enough good things about this shampoo!!! It rocks my world! I will never use any other shampoo other than Lush. I loved Curly Wurly too, but I'm smitten with this one.

This shampoo does exactly what it promises for my fine wavy hair that is on the thinner side.

It gives the volume that I get with Big, but it's much more gentle and I can use it more than once every few weeks without worrying about dry hair.

I don't generally use a conditioner with this shampoo, but I do condition between shampoos.

SO this shampoo has been directly telling me to use it.. seeing that my name is Cynthia.. (get it?) but yea so you know i was thinking i have to try out a shampoo that has the same name as me.. well i wound up loving it! now i'm not to keen on the alcoholic smell that it has, every time i smell it, it makes me think of being at a party and im talking to someone with WAAYY to much booze on their breath and their sitting to close and that breath is just evading my space majorly lol but yea i muster though it because it leaves my hair nice and voluminousness and after a couple days i can see a improvement in my hair , and this shampoo pairs nicely with veganese (whole other review) with that now not only is the volume there but its soft and my hair.. i gotta say it loves to have fly aways, its just a huge country of fly aways on my head all the time and now i'm seeing less of them.. it been tamed down to a little city now :) oh and those that love "BIG" this is a nice daily alternative so the days you don't use BIG you don't loose that volume you love so much!

I have a lot of hair so I use 2-3 quarter sized handfuls and massage into my scalp and work through to the ends. It smells amazing and makes my hair shine like glass!

I absolutely LOVE Cynthia Sylvia Stout. This was one of my first LUSH purchases. I had gone into my local LUSH store and was helped by a lovely LUSH employee. I had explained to her that I used to have very straight hair that everyone lusted after. I constantly got compliments on how nice my hair looked. Then a few years ago my hair changed into this crazy mass of frizzy flyaways. It was completely unruly and I had tried so many different products and nothing worked on my hair. She reccomended this shampoo. I used it once and my hair was transformed! I really love the smell of the shampoo with the lemon zest! It lathers super well, and the end result after using it with American Cream and R&B is COMPLETELY AMAZING. I've never loved my hair more! Thank you LUSH!

It's taken me a while to be brave enough to purchase Cynthia Sylvia Stout, and I just ordered the smallest size, but after a week and a half of use, I am ordering the largest size. When I saw beer shampoo all I could think of was the smell of rancid beer. I read the description over and over and it sounded just right for my hair, but it's beer shampoo.

I am so glad I finally bought it, the small is so light and amazing, it's calming and enrgizing, it settles nerves while getting your brain ready to go. It is different from other shampoo brands so it surprised me when it was a little runnier than I was used to, but it lathered amazingly well. I have very very very thick hair, so I did not want anything that was volumizing, that is the last thing in the world I need, but I do need fly away control. This has left my hair feeling very light and clean as well as softer to the touch.

I just used this product for the first time tonight and am absolutely head over heels in love! This product help put moisture back into my dry, frizzy, hair. Having the smell of beer in the shower was a little different but I was totally into it!!

This shampoo is amazing. I used it with American Cream conditioner so I don't know if it was one, the other, or just both. But my hair smells amazing, it's so shiny and feels so soft. I let it air dry and it made my naturally wavy hair look like I took time to style it. It's less frizzy than it usually is, but it doesn't eliminate frizz. (I've yet to find a product that does that for me though.) The smell isn't for everyone. While it smells awesome, it lingers for a long time, and I got a slight headache from smelling it constantly. Other than that, I can't wait to buy some for my mom so she won't use mine!

After just one wash with Cynthia I was hooked. My frizzy and hardly controllable hair was suddenly tamed. And I was shocked to find that my childhood waves had returned! This shampoo is highly effective when used in very small doses. Before Cynthia I was left using all sorts of gunk trying to tame my mane, but now I can towel and go.

I have thin hair, but lots of it. Cynthia manages to make my thin hair look a little thicker without adding a lot of weight. And the smell is amazing. I secretly think my boyfriend uses this just for the smell.

So, so, so recommended!

I was so nervous buying this product because the smell right out of the bottle is actually quite offending to the nose. BUT once you pop open that bottle in the shower and smother your hair with it the smell is godly. It's a little strong for some people but the way that it cleans your hair is amazing. I've never had hair that is as clean and as soft as it is now.

The only problem is that it might clean a little too well which is why I follow it with American Cream or Veganese, both work fine for me.

For light and fluffy hair that shimmers every time that you move I would give this a try.

I have found the best shampoo for my hair and I absolutely love it. Don't let the smell straight from the bottle put you off, you kinda have to let it grow on you/smell it a few times. One the hair it's a totally different beast.

This is the second shampoo that I've tried and this one is THE best. I tried Rehab and my hair had that straw feeling to it even when it was wet, with Cynthia Sylvia Stout I do not get that feeling at all. It actually feels like I don't even need a conditioner.

I tried this with Veganese Conditioner and I'm not sure if it was both combined that made my fly-aways and frizz disappear but I am in love.

I did notice my hair looked a whole lot healthier after I used this just ONCE. It is a tie between life-saver and a must have because to me it is both.

Let me start off by saying that I have very thick, curly hair. I found myself interested in Cynthia Sylvia Stout because of reviews stating buyers saw a difference in hair health as well as a decrease in frizz. I would say that I can agree with half of these reviews.

Cynthia Sylvia Stout without a doubt makes my hair a lot shinier. I'm naturally a brunette, but I recently find myself with these beautiful, almost red in color highlights throughout my hair. I also love the smell of this shampoo, I think the strong lemon scent is very relaxing while I am showering and it is not a strong lingering aroma when I get out of the shower.

Frizz, however, is definitely not controlled by this shampoo. I actually find that after I rinse out my hair, it feels a lot dryer than it did beforehand. For those of you that may not know, dry hair = absorbing moisture from the air = major frizz. Fortunately, I use a deep moisturizing conditioner afterwards, so I do not have to fear a puffy do.

Ultimately, I enjoy the smell and the benefits of hair shine enough to continue using this product. I already have plenty of hair volume so I'm not sure what volume effects Cynthia Sylvia Stout has, but the natural glow my hair has outweighs the con of this product drying out my locks on its own. Just invest in a quality conditioner and there's no reason you shouldn't find great results with Cynthia Sylvia Stout!

I love this shampoo - the way it smells, the way it makes my hair look healthy and shiny - but I noticed I kept getting what I thought was dandruff while using it. Turns out, (and this is my fault for not reading the label closely) that it contains sea salt, a product to which I am quite sensitive. It causes welts when rubbed on my skin. I stopped using it - no more "dandruff"/sores, but now my hair is lackluster. I have noticed it more with my last bottle of Cynthia, which I noticed had a lot of white gunk at the bottom. Is that sea salt? If so, do some batches of shampoo contain more than others?
