Q:I've been using this cleanser for about 2 and a half weeks now, and have been breaking out since. I'm aware of the "purging" period that occurs when you start a new skin regimen, but was wondering if this cleanser is going to work for me. This has made my skin very soft and decreased my oil production extremely! I just want to know if this is going to work for my acne. Is this normal or should I try a different product?Asked on 7/29/2014 by Chloe
A:I'm not a skin professional by any means, but if you weren't breaking out before and just oily, I'd give it another week and if there is no improvement breakout wise, stop using it. I've been using this cleanser for a year now and never had a breakout issue (save for super stressed and girl time acne). I however, also pair tea tree water with my regimen as well. Lush also has a spot cleanser that I've read on other reviews (on the lush site) that work well with acne prone skin and dark angels, it's called grease lightening. If you aren't ready to throw In the towel just yet... Try that.

Q:Can Dark Angles be used with a clarisonic or would that be too harsh on the skin?Asked on 7/22/2014 by Sarah E from Salisbury, MD
A:I don't use both of them at the same time. Dark angels in the morning, clarisonic at night.Answered on 7/22/2014 by Anonymous
Q:I wash my face with this product then afterwards i wash it with ocean salt cleanser, is that recommended?Asked on 7/18/2014 by Chanandler Bong
A:I would definitely recommend it. The charcoal in the scrub cleans and strips so well that you need to follow with a gentler cleanser for preventative measures. And then of course a good moisturizer!

Q:Is this cleanser okay to use on all skin types? I'm considering buying this and I want to be sure that it will work for me.Asked on 7/9/2014 by Nate from Green Bay, WI
A:I think it might be a little too exfoliating for very sensitive skin. As long as you're skin isn't sensitive, I'd say go for it. It's amazing!Answered on 8/6/2014 by Shelberto from New Orleans, La

Q:How long does a smaller container of dark angels last with daily use?Asked on 4/12/2014 by Lexi from Spokane, WA
A:If used just on your face and twice a day, a small pot will last about 4-6 weeks. How often and how much is being used every time will shorten and lengthen this time frame, however.Answered on 5/3/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:A small container of dark angels lasts about 6-8 weeks:-)

Q:Is it typical to experience a "purging" period when using this product? I just started using Dark angels and i'm noticing a couple of small break-outs, but I'm unsure if it's just not compatible with my skin or if I should stick it out for the next week or two and let my skin re-balance.Asked on 3/22/2014 by jill
A:When starting out a new cleansing routine it is always important to give it at least 3 weeks, as it takes that long for the cells of the face to regenerate. After that time, you will see the most accurate results and benefits!Answered on 3/25/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT
A:When I started using this product I also got small break outs, for me I stuck with it and my skin rebalanced and became clear. I would recommend staying with it for a bit longer before giving up on it completely. :)Answered on 3/24/2014 by ElenKat from Lagrangeville, NY
Q:Is this product good with removing black heads?Asked on 3/6/2014 by Nica
A:The Dark Angels Cleanser is fantastic for removing blackheads. It contains rhassoul mud and charcoal which will work together to clean out the pores.Answered on 3/7/2014 by Jeanine from LUSH Direct
A:I have black heads on my nose and have not noticed them disappearing, but I don't use this daily, only a few times a week. It does cleanse the face real well and leaves it soft. I love the product, just haven't noticed the black heads disappearing.

Q:can this be used with a different brand cleanser afterwards?Asked on 11/22/2013 by xoxo from new york
A:Yes it can! You may use this as just an exfoliant for your skin then use another cleanser if you prefer! It can depend on what type of skin you have, combination or oily skin, as Dark Angels can be a little intense on the skin!Answered on 11/28/2013 by Anonymous
A:Yes! You can use it as an exfoliant and then a different cleanser. It depends on your skin type. Since I have combo skin this works great for me. If you find it too harsh id switch to angels on bare skin..something harsher; ocean salt. I find this to be a great go between.
Maria SantiagoAnswered on 11/22/2013 by Anonymous
Q:Is Dark Angles okay for combination skin? I'm currently using Angels on Bare Skin and I love it! I just need to exfoliate my skin a few times a week and I really want to try Dark Angels.
Thanks(: Have a wonderful day! <3Asked on 11/3/2013 by BrendaBabyface
A:With Dark Angels, this has different properties which are great for all skin types. Black sugar and charcoal in this product hep to gently exfoliate and absorb excess oils to leave dull, oily and acne-prone skin with a clean, matte finish. I hope this helps!Answered on 11/15/2013 by Lydia
A:I use both Angels on Bare Skin and Dark Angels, and prefer Dark Angels. It
smells wonderful, and leaves my skin very matte and clean feeling.

A:I use Dark Angels on my face, neck and chest several times a week in the shower. I love the way my face feels after using it. I have noticed that as I get near the end of the tub it leaves a black residue on my skin that require soap or a toner to remove. I definitely have very combination skin.
Sent From my iPhoneAnswered on 11/3/2013 by Anonymous
A:Yes, it's good for that purpose. It cleans your skin really fast and really well. I have combination skin and I like it a lot. I use it every day. Angels on bare skin leaves me a bit oily so I use it in a really dry winter day.

Q:How often should I use this? Can I use it everyday? My skin is really oily and have acnes.Asked on 10/14/2013 by sof from China
A:While everyone is different, it is fine for most people to use every day. If you find your skin is getting dry while using it every day, it might be best for you to use it less often and integrate a gentler cleanser in between uses.Answered on 11/28/2013 by Anonymous
A:I use this every time I take a shower. Just love it. It smells great, and
keeps my skin nice and fresh and clean.

Q:I have the dark angels cleanser and the tea tree toner the only thing is that I forgot to ask the girl at the counter on instructions on how to use both of these, is it the cleanser first then the toner? also how often should I use it? twice a day?
ThanksAsked on 8/10/2013 by BEX from Houston
A:We usually recommend going through your facial regimen at least once per day; however, twice per day is alright, so long as your skin seems to be taking to the products well!
The order should be cleanse, tone, moisturize.Answered on 8/14/2013 by Anonymous
Q:Does this remove makeup?Asked on 5/21/2013 by Shelise from WV
A:While Dark Angels will work to draw the impurities out of the skin, it likely wont be as effective in removing makeup. We suggest either Ultrabland or 9-5, which should give you the results you are looking for!Answered on 9/27/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:It is definitely going to remove dirt from your pores, but getting this near the eyes might not be such a good idea. Lush has an all-purpose makeup remover: Ultrabland
If you don't want to use that, here's my method: I use tea tree toner and vanishing cream to help remove leftover mascara after I cleanse my cheeks/chin/forehead/neck. I was always told that using lotion to remove eye makeup is better for the skin around your eyes and doesn't promote wrinkles.Answered on 5/21/2013 by KM from Los Angeles, CAo
Q:Did anybody go through the 'purging process' after using this cleanser? If see how long did it last, and what did it look like?Asked on 5/20/2013 by lawrencb22 from Pleasanton, CA
A:In general, whenever you switch cleansers your skin will go through a purging process. A full skin cycle is about three weeks so you can expect to see things even out after the initial couple of weeks. This process can vary greatly from one person to another so it really depends on how you find your skin adjusts to new cleansers. Definitely don't let it discourage you, as it is a completely natural process!Answered on 9/27/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:Yes, I had gotten a small sample from the store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When I ran out of this sample my skin broke out like crazy! I now have my own large jar of Dark Angels & I'm hoping to get this all under control once again. Amazing product. Don't let this get you down!!! :)Answered on 7/3/2013 by Court2694 from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin
Q:Can this be used as a mask? Does it help clear up acne?Asked on 5/20/2013 by Shelise from WV
A:We don't suggest using Dark Angels as a mask, as it is formulated to benefit the skin as a cleanser. It is fantastic for acne-prone skin, as the clay base will help to draw out impurities and soak up excess oi.Answered on 9/27/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
Q:I was just wondering what the difference is between Dark Angels Cleanser and Coal Face?Asked on 5/20/2013 by lawrencb22 from Pleasanton, CA
A:Dark Angels is a little more intense than Coalface, as it contains coarse black sugar for exfoliation, and is a clay-based cleanser so it does not lather. The clay base will work to pull out dirt and impurities from the skin. Coalface, on the other hand, has lather to it, and is designed to work as a bar soap. Both are great for oilier, acne-prone skin!Answered on 9/27/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
