Q:I have oily combination skin. When i used Dark Angels for the first time,i notcied that it was a little rough on my skin so i massaged it slowly. After two days of use i noticed that all my blackheads started popping out like crazy. i had 5 on my left cheek and 3 on the other. Soon my left side of my cheek got bloody red . I didnt feel any irritation but my skin had a bad reaction to it. Does this happen to most people?Should i switch to Herbalism instead?Asked on 2/25/2015 by Lisa
A:It sounds like you had a reaction to the Dark Angels cleanser. It is designed to help prevent and cleanse blackheads, not cause more issues! Herbalism might be a better fit for you. It is much less abrasive, with ground almonds instead of black sugar, and will exfoliate in a much more gentle fashion.Answered on 3/21/2015 by Emily from LUSH Direct
A:Oh switch... Definitely switch. Your skin should go through a purge stage but not like that... Give it to someone else and let your face rest with plain old bar soap until it heals... Try tea tree oil spray and then work in the herbalism to wash with...

Q:Is Dark Angels Cleanser okay to use on dry skin?Asked on 2/10/2015 by hannah from United States
A:Dark Angels is typically used on oilier problem skin, as the powdered charcoal helps greatly to absorb excess oil on the skin. The cold pressed avocado oil is a great moisturizer, but I would recommend Angels on Bare Skin or Aqua Marina as a fresh cleanser for skin that is more on the dry side.Answered on 2/12/2015 by Meg from LUSH Direct
A:I wouldn't be opposed to someone with dry skins using dark angels cleanser. However, if you do have a drier skin, I wouldn't encourage you to use it every day. Hope this helps!

Q:I was wondering what body product can I use on top of this one?
I use this all over my body and it works amazingly but it always leaves residue making my skin grey. I was wondering what other product I could use on top, still be as effective but not too harsh since I'm already using Dark Angels as an exfoliator.Asked on 2/7/2015 by Kay from Texas
A:Our Buffy body butter would be a nice companion to Dark Angels! It also exfoliates the body with a ton of ground almonds, and the cocoa and shea butters will put a ton of moisture into the skin. It will remove any residue while gently exfoliating and making your skin soft to the touch.Answered on 2/13/2015 by Meg from LUSH Direct
Q:How often should you use it? Is it ok to use everyday, or just a few times a week?Asked on 1/13/2015 by Kayla
A:Personally, my skin is very sensitive during the winter so I have to space out my usage during this month but on a normal basis, I use it nearly every day. I find that my results are better with the continuous usage. I hope I helped

A:Hi there! Thanks for your question.
Its totally up to you, and your skin type, and how sensitive your skin is, but you can most definitley use it as a everyday cleanser!! :)Answered on 1/13/2015 by Anonymous
Q:I bought this last week with enzymion and the first couple of days were okay. After the third day, I wanted to try enzymion as a primer because I was going out to Universal. It was much hotter outside than I thought it was going to be and I came home with 6 blind pimples (the huge under-skin ones that hurt really bad). I'm trying to figure out if it was the face wash or the moisturizer that caused the reaction. I think I'm allergic to enzymion because after a few days of leaving my face alone I used it over night and my face puffed up. No extra pimples though. I used the wash again today and i'm anxiously waiting to see if I'll break out again. If I do, what would be your recommendation for the next wash I should try? I don't think my face is particularly oily and it's definitely not dry. I get a lot of stress pimples though. I haven't had a blind pimple in years.Asked on 12/22/2014 by Nidia Newcomer from Orlando, Fl
A:If you are experiencing puffiness or irritation at all it sounds like you may be experiencing an allergic reaction. I would recommend discontinuing use to see if your skin settles down, and then you may want to choose a different moisturizer that will suit your needs better.Answered on 2/13/2015 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:Hey there! for now I would recommend you to stop using enzymion, and let your face rest for a couple days. It is possible that you could have stripped your natural oils. I usually use Dark Angels once or twice a week to clean out my pores. I do recommend you buying Angels on Bare Skin and combine it with Dark Angels.Answered on 1/7/2015 by Em from New York
Q:If I have an oily face, acne (which is improving because of Dark Angels), using Dark Angels and Mask of Magnaminty, what should I use for acne scarring/dark areas on my face from old acne? I've only been using Dark Angels for about a week (with fantastic results!), so should I wait and see if Dark Angels will help with the scarring? Or does that not work, and if not what product should I use for scarring? Help please!Asked on 12/10/2014 by Samantha
A:Dark Angels will start to make a difference in evening your skin tone over time, as the coarse sugar will slough away dead skin to reveal clearer, more even skin. Ocean Salt is a nice choice as well, as it will exfoliate and clarify with citrus and vodka!Answered on 2/13/2015 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
Q:How do I/can I use Dark Angels with Mask of Magnaminty? I have them both but I want to know how to use them together properly. I'm not sure if I use the Mask first or how often I should use them in the same day. Help please!Asked on 12/9/2014 by Samantha
A:Hi there! Thanks for your question! I would recommend using Dark Angels first, as the cleanser, then scrubbing it off with warm water to completely wash off any dirt or oil left on your face. Then, I would apply Mask of Magnaminty and let it sit on your face for the designated time, or until you feel like it!Answered on 12/31/2014 by Anonymous
What I normally do is apply Dark Angels first. Scrub it off with warm water completely to wash off any dirt or dead skin cells in your face. Then, I apply the mask and let it sit on my face for the designated time. I personally like to do before I jump in the shower, but you can always just do it over the sink.
I hope this helps and you enjoy! Happy Holidays!

Q:Hello I was just wondering a few things about this product, like would it help with sensitive skin more along the lines of skin irritated by eczema? Or skin that is just sensitive in general, also is this good for naturally lightening the skin? Thank you so much!Asked on 11/22/2014 by Morgan from Fort Carson, CO
A:Dark Angels is great for oily skin, congested pores and dull skin. The rhassoul mud and charcoal will draw impurities out of the pores while the black sugar will remove dead skin cells on the surface. Also, cold-pressed organic avocado oil will re-hydrate the skin. We don't carry any products that will lighten the skin. However, exfoliating the skin will help speed up the skin cell renewal process which will give your skin youthful glow. If your skin is very sensitive, check out Fresh Farmacy and Aqua Marina.Answered on 11/24/2014 by Jeanine from LUSH Direct
Q:I'm worried about an expiration date. How long will it stay good?Asked on 11/16/2014 by First time frustrations from Nashville, AR
A:Check out the "Made Fresh By" sticker! It has all the information you need, including the date of when the product was made as well as the best before date. As a general rule, fresh cleansers are usually good for around 3-4 months after their made by date!Answered on 11/19/2014 by Serena from LUSH Direct
A:I honestly always use it longer then the expiration date and I've never had a problem. Except maybe w/ the fresh face masks and other fave masks. But not the dark angels. It's my fave!! I hope that helps a little

Q:After the first time using this product after a bath, it was really hard for me to get the charcoal off my face so i glided it across my face into my hairline as best as I could. My question is if it is ok to just leave it on overnight until it gets washed off the next day if yes will it cause breakouts and can I apply the tea tree toner and moisturizer after?Asked on 11/13/2014 by Steppi from Brooklyn, NY
A:Hi there! I definitely do not recommend leaving it overnight. I would suggest washing it off gently with a warm wash cloth. I'm not too sure if it will cause breakouts, but I'd rather be safe than sorry!Answered on 11/14/2014 by Anonymous
I personally have never left it on overnight. I'm unsure of the potential for breakouts to happen. However, I wouldn't recommend it. Do your best to gently scrub while you're rinsing it off in all the applied areas. Stand under the water for a bit to make sure you don't have any grainy bits on you.
Hope this helps!

Q:how long should i keep it on for?Asked on 10/29/2014 by mandy from dartmouth, ma
A:Generally, you would wash the product off after a good scrub. However, you can leave it on for as long as you like. It contains rhassoul mud which will draw impurities out of the pores.Answered on 11/5/2014 by Jeanine from LUSH Direct
Q:I've been using dark angels for a couple of months and love what it does for my extremely oily skin. I recently moved and had to get back into a routine. I've started using it on a daily basis again but am still pretty stressed in my life. I'm looking for something to pair with it that will help me balance out my skin even when I am stressed. I also try to use mask of magnaminty once a week. I live 2 hours from any store so i can't use a fresh mask which is what I used to buy before when I would get stress acne. Any thoughts?Asked on 9/9/2014 by Brooke
A:My best suggestion based on the information that you have provided would be our Tea Tree Toner which is great to use with a cotton pad after cleansing and remove every trace of dirt and oil from your skin or can be used as a spray over your face anytime it feels sensitive as the tea tree with soothe any redness or irritation. Another product that would be great is our spot treatment: Grease Lightening - this can be used on any acne flare-ups as soon as you notice them and this helps to reduce the problem and soothe the skin. If you are not already doing so, you should be following up your cleanser with a moisturizer and I would suggest you look at either Vanishing Cream (super light and great for clearing problem skin), Enzymion (full of fruit extracts and great for clarifying and balancing the skin) and Imperialis (a little richer than the first two, but fantastic at balancing your skin if you have issues with some areas being oily and some areas being more on the dry side).Answered on 9/11/2014 by Michelle from LUSH Direct
A:I have been using angels on bare skin and ultra bland at night along with dark angels a couple times a week and that balances out my skin perfectly!

Q:I've been using this cleanser for about 2 and a half weeks now, and have been breaking out since. I'm aware of the "purging" period that occurs when you start a new skin regimen, but was wondering if this cleanser is going to work for me. This has made my skin very soft and decreased my oil production extremely! I just want to know if this is going to work for my acne. Is this normal or should I try a different product?Asked on 7/29/2014 by Chloe
A:A full skin cycle is about a month, so we usually recommend trying the product out for at least that length of time before deciding if it is right for you. It is absolutely normal to experience breakouts worse than usual in the beginning, as you said, but try to stick it out for a bit longer if you can before making your decision.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:I'm not a skin professional by any means, but if you weren't breaking out before and just oily, I'd give it another week and if there is no improvement breakout wise, stop using it. I've been using this cleanser for a year now and never had a breakout issue (save for super stressed and girl time acne). I however, also pair tea tree water with my regimen as well. Lush also has a spot cleanser that I've read on other reviews (on the lush site) that work well with acne prone skin and dark angels, it's called grease lightening. If you aren't ready to throw In the towel just yet... Try that.

Q:Can Dark Angles be used with a clarisonic or would that be too harsh on the skin?Asked on 7/22/2014 by Sarah E from Salisbury, MD
A:We wouldn't recommend using a Clarisonic with Dark Angels because it is made mostly of rhassoul mud which may clog the brush.Answered on 9/12/2014 by Anonymous
A:I don't use both of them at the same time. Dark angels in the morning, clarisonic at night.Answered on 7/22/2014 by Anonymous
Q:I wash my face with this product then afterwards i wash it with ocean salt cleanser, is that recommended?Asked on 7/18/2014 by Chanandler Bong
A:I would say that most people might find both of them right after the other too abrasive for their skin, but if it is working for out for you go for it.Answered on 9/12/2014 by Anonymous
A:I would definitely recommend it. The charcoal in the scrub cleans and strips so well that you need to follow with a gentler cleanser for preventative measures. And then of course a good moisturizer!

Q:Is this cleanser okay to use on all skin types? I'm considering buying this and I want to be sure that it will work for me.Asked on 7/9/2014 by Nate from Green Bay, WI
A:It is definitely appropriate for all skin types, however, it does tend to be very deep cleansing. If your skin is more on the sensitive side, we would suggest using it less frequently than you might if you prefer a rougher exfoliation.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:I think it might be a little too exfoliating for very sensitive skin. As long as you're skin isn't sensitive, I'd say go for it. It's amazing!Answered on 8/6/2014 by Shelberto from New Orleans, La
Q:Does this help remove acne scars and dark spots?Asked on 7/3/2014 by kellyboo
