I had been using fresh pharmacy for about 6 months when I noticed it wasn't as effective for me. I went in to my local LUSH store and sat down for a skin consultation. The result- I kept continued with the fresh pharmacy (because I love it sooo much) and added in Dark angels about 2-3 times a week.

NOW my skin is the clearest it's been in years and soo soft. I cannot believe it!

I was a little hesitant at first because I thought the roughness of this would hurt my sensitive skin, but I use this in the shower and mix it with water which means it hasn't bothered my skin yet. It is fabulous.

After tireless searches for the right products for my dull, acne prone, oily, blackheads and large pores! aka a hot mess of a face--- I've finally found the cure! SERIOUSLY! Dark Angels works amazingly well the first time to exfoliate and clean (I mean this stuff has shrunk my pores and totally improved my skin!!!), I spot treat with Grease Lightning and finish off with Enzymion moisturizer ---which I am obsessed with. Using Grease Lightning even 2x daily gave me no problems (ie. dryness, peeling, tightness, etc.) like so many other acne products out there do! Now that I've used it for just over a week, I already have no need to use it daily! If I see a zit coming, I zap it morning and night and problem solved. It's so silky soft and smooth to use, and you BARELY need any. This lil' magic bottle will last a looong time. (The combo of products - Dark Angels - has greatly contributed to clearing my skin and totally brightened my dull skin!!!). From a person with cystic acne, I'm a believer!!!! LOVE LUSH and now a forever LUSHIE!!!! I am currently alternating Dark Angels at night and Fresh Farmacy in the a.m., treating as needed with Grease Lightning, and moisturizing with Enzymion), It's just a nice clean natural smell! From greasy, large pores - dull skin and hormonal acne - after less then a week I noticed smaller pores, clear and bright skin--- it only improves even more each time I wash with it! I could probablly use Dark Angels morning and night, but I find Fresh Farmacy is a nice soothing wash in the am. Thought I can hardly wait to wash my face again each night... some say it's messy, but I don't think so. You only need a pea sized amount. I wet my face first, then take a pea sized amount in my palm, mix is around a bit with some water or mix and dot around my face... working a small area at a time, then working the entire face, spash and rinse, then use a washcloth to lightly scrub the remaining off... it's just SUCH a great wash. I still want to try so many other Lush washes, but I'm totally hooked on this lil life saver! THANK YOU LUSH!

i had never tried any lush products before, after spending forever trying to figure out which cleansers to get i finally went out on a whim and bought dark angels. i have acne prone skin, i take medications & creams both prescribed by a dermatologist and i've never seen my skin clearer than before i used this product. little to no breakouts at all, and its gentle enough (for me anyway) to use as a daily facial cleanser. my routine: herbalism in the morning followed by imperialis & dark angels at night followed by imperialis, i will definitely be repurchasing this product!!

I got this product after a handful of my fellow lushie friends told me how great it was. And, they were right. This product is gentle enough to use daily, but strong enough to see improvements within a few uses.

I use this product twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. I love how fresh and clean my face feels without that tight, dried out feeling. I wasn't sure about its effectiveness when I purchased it, but after a week --my skin was glowing and the breakouts on my cheeks were gone! Its a little messy, but once you get the hang of it --whatever! I am thrilled to have found this product and so very happy to put natural ingredients instead of chemicals on my face. This one is a keeper!

Okay, I really do not want to talk bad about this product, because I do believe that it has the up most potential to work wonders for others. I had read numerous reviews, saw videos, ect, about this product, and the type of skin is works well for, which was just like mine, so after research, I purchased it. I had expected my face to react to it, not exactly harshly, but maybe a pimple or two.. which it did bring the existing pimples I had to a '' head'', so I thought, okay that's a plus I guess. I know there were comments about the black residue or film, and messy tubs, but I didn't experience that.. I continued to try for well over a month and a half, and I still had/have pimples. I will say that it does clean your face very well. I really wanted this to work y'all, I can't express how much hope I had in this product. But I still think Lush makes wonderful products, because it seems a lot of people have success, I just didn't this time around. I sadly would not purchase this again, because after weeks and weeks, still not much progress for my skin.

AWESOME!!! My auntie recommended this for me, and I LOVE IT!!! It smells like licorice so I have no qualms about using it, but I LOVE THE WAY IT FEELS!!! New must have, definitely :)

I am eighteen years old, and I have struggled with moderate/severe acne since I was around the age of twelve or thirteen. When I was sixteen, my mom finally decided to take me to an dermatologist. I remember coming home with a bag full of harsh benzoyl peroxide gels and several other sample tubes, along with a prescription pill. Only a few days in to this routine recommended by the derm, my face was so red and so dry that almost an entire layer of skin had flaked off. I suppose it would have been worth it if it had cleared up my acne. But, it didn't. I remember standing in my bathroom literally crying over the state of my skin. (maybe that sounds silly, I know. But hey...I'm a teenager. Skincare/beauty/hygiene is a big deal.:) I remember being so frustrated I didn't even know what to do with myself. It actually even affected my social life. I didn't want to go to pool parties where I knew I wouldn't be able to hide my spots and bumps under layers of makeup. I didn't want to go to sleepovers because I didn't want to wake up in the morning with new breakouts for all my friends to see. I felt like a monster. (Once again, maybe that sounds silly and dramatic. But...hey. ;) Then a few good things happened. I began looking into more natural skincare products and DIY acne treatment masks. My skin actually began improving as I scavenged the internet looking for natural ways to improve my life-long battle with acne. Then one day, I ran across this little gem of a review on something called, 'Dark Angels'. I was skeptical, of course. Charcoal and sugar didn't sound like the best way to clear up skin with pores that were already so prone to clogging. But after reading several amazing reviews, I decided to be brave and try it out. My first Lush purchase was a small pot of Dark Angels, a small bottle of Tea Tree Toner Water and Grease Lightning. Within a few days of use, my skin had drastically cleared. Huge bumps that had plagued the bottom sides of my cheeks had smoothed out almost completely and the redness seemed to be fading. Needless to say, there have been many more Lush purchases since. :) My favorites have still remained Dark Angels and Tea Tree Toner. I've also fallen in love with Mask of Magnaminty. I still use Grease Lightning as a spot treatment and love it. I have yet to try Herbalism but plan to try a small pot sometime in the very near future, maybe to use in alteration with Dark Angels?
I've noticed a lot of people complaining about the messy-ness and smell. I really haven't had the much problem with either. The smell is a bit licorice like. I actually thought it smelled kind of good. As far as the mess, I think your water pressure in the shower has a lot to do with the mess left behind by DA. Also, I've found it's important to use hot water. Obviously, not too hot water that's going to burn your face. But as comfortably hot as you can get. It helps to wash the residue off of your skin and nails as well as anything that may have splashed onto the walls or shower floor. Try especially hard not to rinse with cold water. The few unfortunate times I have tried that ended up with me literally looking like I had a five o'clock shadow right around my chin and jaw line. So NOT attractive. ;) It was a bit hard to scrub off but nothing a washcloth and hot water couldn't handle.
I apologize (!!!) for the million-mile-long review. But, I just really wanted to make known how amazing and life changing Lush products have been. Here's to clear skin, higher self esteem and no more insecurity due to pesky breakouts!

I had been using a pro 3 step system for six years and still broke out all the time. I headed into Lush one day on a whim and this darling young lad working told me how wonderful it had worked for him. I believed him and bought a small amount to try and have been hooked ever since. My skin looks as nice as my 3 month old baby's now...no lie! It is soft, supple and no more oily shine! Yes the product is a little messy to use but sometimes messy is fun!

I'm 28 years old and I have oily skin, but no acne. I needed a cleanser to absorb excess oily and I've used all kinds of products. Dark Angel leaves me skin velvety matte. Don't get me wrong, I still get oily after a few hours so I have to use oil blot sheets. I would say this is a keeper since it makes me skin feel to clean and smooth after I use it in the shower (no kidding, it does leave a mess in the sink). I would buy it again :D

It does a great job of clearing up my skin but it is so messy! I took to using it in the shower rather than the sink because of the mess but it still gets all over my tiles and stains the bath. No matter how much water I put on my face after using it I always have a black residue all over. I end up having to rewash my face with something else to remove it. The smells isn't really appealing either. It does what it is suppose to but there are too many cons and not enough pros for me to buy it again.

A friend introduced me to LUSH on a trip to Chicago and this product changed my skin! I have tried every acne product on the market, and nothing had worked for more than a couple of weeks. I've been using Dark Angels for almost 2 years and the difference in my skin is nothing short of miraculous. It is a little messy, so it's easiest to use in the shower, but I bought some black washcloths and use them in the shower and out to remove the cleanser completely. It is also great at removing makeup - even tough mascara. I can't say enough about how this has changed my skin and made me a believer in LUSH for life!

I use this 2x a day and it does wonders for my face. While it hasn't completely cleared my acne, it does a lot more than anything else I've tried (and believe me, I've tried it all). It's weird, but I simply love washing my face with this stuff, it leaves me feeling so clean and smooth, like my pores are just singing after I wash it off! Will probably be using this for a long long time!

I usually don't have time to write reviews, but I had to about this product. At first I was a little bit skeptical because the product isn't a creamy scrub, it's more of a clumpy, dry paste, and it's black. The first few times I had a bit of trouble figuring out the right ratio of water to mix into the palm of my hand, but, eventually, I got it right. The scrub feels great on, no harsh bits to scrape the skin. The charcoal really works to purify and cleanse. I had a zit forming underneath the skin on my chin, and, after one scrub, it disappeared! It's great for people living in harsh, dry cities with lots of pollution, like Los Angeles. I would definitely recommend it to anyone (just make sure you don't use the guest towels to wash it off).

I am likely the exception, but I use this everyday, sometimes 2x per day. I love it, it was my first Lush love and it has stayed true to me.

My cystic acne has really improved, and when I do get a few - they have started to heal REALLY quickly with no scarring. I am SO happy! I finally found something that will save my skin from permanent acne damage. I have spent plenty of $ elsewhere and at the pharmacy. Nothing, seriously NOTHING comes close to Lush face products. The more natural the product, the better, IMO!!!!

My mom got me this as a gift, and it is amazing! It's really invigorating. I will say, if you have low water pressure, it may take a while to rinse off.

I love using this, but I found that if I use it every day, my face starts feeling a bit greasy. So I use it every few days, with just plain Fresh Farmacy on the days in between.

I got this last July, and I still had half the pot left when I left school a few weeks ago. I accidentally left it when I came home from the summer, and I was very upset. I have started breaking out more often, which is no bueno. I can't wait til my paycheck so I can buy some more!

I am in love with this cleanser! A friend of mine used it and said it worked great for her acne, so I decided to try it. I was a little worried by reading all the reviews saying it was too messy, left residue, etc. I haven't had any problems with that! If you use an amount truly the size of a pea and add just a few drops of water, you have enough paste to cleanse your face without leaving a residue in the shower or sink. I use it both ways--in and out of the shower with no problems. It's GREAT for my acne, it cleared my face within 2 days! I would definitely recommend this cleanser.

Since the 5th grade I have always struggled with acne. I am now 23 and struggle from acne. I have tried every single product out there from, proactiv, antibiotics, acutune, medical treaments, perscription meds/ creams, clinique...etc literally everything! I thought about over to switching to natural products and that is exactly what i did. best decision of my life. My skin has cleared up, this product is amazing. I did break out initially from using this product, this breakout is usually called the purging process, when all of the toxins and dirts come to the skin at once causing an acne flare. DONT STOP USING THIS PRODUCT BECAUSE THIS HAPPENS. give it another week or so and everything will be clear! Your skin will look amazing.

I use this product at night since it leaves residue. I have tried everything under the sun to clear my acne and this is the only thing that keeps working after prolonged use! I'm so very in love with this product that the residue doesn't bother me, I usually use a toner to clean it off. definetly one of my favorites!
