Devilishly intoxicating

An earthy, mystical fragrance inspired by the mythology behind The Agglestone, or the Devil's Nightcap, a megalithic rock outside the town of Studland, England. The story goes that his Satanic Majesty hurled the rock in an attempt to hit a nearby town. With bitter oakwood, oakmoss, clary sage and ylang ylang to capture the magic.

Features

  • Imagine: A walk through whispering oak woods on a dark night. The old English trees moan and creak around you. Druids murmur as they prepare their herbal concoctions.
  • Clary sage: Sharpens perception and shows the auras of the ancient magic that abounds
  • Ylang ylang: Befuddles and delights the senses.

I like it alone, or paired with a really flowery fragrance that would be too sweet by itself. And if you really like this, you might also really like Tramp Shower Gel. It's got some similar notes to it, and I think it pairs really well.

                    Comments about Devil's Nightcap Perfume:

This is probably the most unique perfume I've ever owned. It's quite androgynous and would smell incredible on a man, which is interesting because I don't usually like masculine scents of any kind, but this is just so different. It's like fruity, sexy, tobacco stuffed inside a smoky flower. I love it. I love pairing it with Strawberry Feels Forever to bring out it's feminine wiles, it smells great with Heavanilli, as well.

                        Comments about Devil's Nightcap Perfume:

I went to Lush looking to sample Gorilla's newest collection. The sales associate introduced me to the collection and had me close my eyes so I could decide easier. I already had a few favorites from the previous collections, like Cocktail and Lust. Normally I love, love things like Smitten hand cream, Snowcake or Vanilla DeLite body lotion. So I was surprised that I didnt pick something flowery. I like to use Devil's Nightcap during the day. It is a bit unusual for me. Earthy yet flowery/pretty scent. Hard to describe. Sort of a greeney/browny/orangey feel. I guess it's the oakmoss and orange in the ingredients. I also liked Sikkim Girls but they only had the large size.

                              Comments about Devil's Nightcap Perfume:

For a first time blind buy of the Gorilla Perfumes, this particular one was more than I hoped for. I have terribly easily triggered migraines so I try to stick to the natural stuff when I can, but even so (given what I had heard about the throw of LUSH perfumes,) I was leery. I made it through the entire day in this with nothing even approaching a head-whimper, and have made it mostly through today (Flower's Barrow) without one either.

Scentwise, this is fantastic! On me, it's got a lot of smoke with an herby, resious, slightly flowery and fruity balm skimming along just underneath the smoke. The smoky smell never really goes away, and it gives a great texture to the scent as you wear it. Towards the very end of the skin-life of the perfume, it gets a little more dirt-like than smoky, and the flowery and fruity aspect gets ever so slighly more fruity than before, but those are pretty much the dying gasps of the fragrance before it fades out entirely (I put it on at 7am, reapplied at around 2pm for another blast of smoke, and noticed remnants of the scent until about midnight.)

Free-associaton(-wise), this perfume made me crave a piece of cherry pie. Most likely because it reminded me of one of my great aunts who used to blow smoke rings for her cats to pounce on, and who had a cherry tree in her back yard.

Not reccomended to my friends because I WANT ALL OF IT!!!
