Me, hubby, and baby boy went into our local Lush store looking for something to hold up a mohawk for the little one. I hadn't ever bought a Lush haircare product other than shampoo/conditioner before, because honestly I thought they were too expensive. But all other products I tried in my boy's baby-fine hair (he's only a year old) were too heavy and made his mohawk flop over. The clerk actually let us try out a bit of Dirty in the store to mohawk him and a teeny tiny dab hawked his hair perfectly! I was shocked - it didn't flop over, didn't feel crunchy, didn't irritate his scalp, and that mohawk held up all the way to bathtime, when it washed out nice and easy with a bit of shampoo. Unlike baby, hubby actually has a proper mohawk with the sides shaved, and it's pretty long on top. His hair is thicker than baby's, but still considered "fine" hair. He tried some of baby's Dirty and is a total convert. He says it feels so much lighter and he only has to use a nickel to quarter sized amount (depending on humidity) to hawk his hair. And it never feels crunchy! The three of us went to an all-day rock music festival and both the boys wore their mohawks - Dirty held both of them up for 12+ hours despite a hot, sticky day, mosh pits for daddy, and naps for baby. Awesome stuff.

This is the first time i used it , i bought it today. The personal there is so great , the lady recommended me this , boy , it is great ! , it conditions my dry hair while giving it a divine shine and volume . The shampoo i use is Trichomania , but when i finish it i would like to try big , to soften and add shine and volume to my lifeless hair , THANK YOU LUSH , I HOPE YOU LAST FOREVER .

I am shocked to find a product that actually works on my thick, soft, limp hair. Gives lots of volumn and texture, yet is pliable. Yes, a touch sticky, but it works and is no more so than any other product.

I took home a sample of both dirty hair gel and The Big Tease because I wanted something that would keep my fine hair in shape without weighting it down .
Despite the fact that I love the Dirty line, this hair gel was too thick and stayed white in my (red) hair even though I only used a tiny bit.. I wanted to love this product so bad! Then I tried the big tease hair gel and I loved the smell (just like the olive branch shower gel) and the consistency was perfec too!! And just as I was about to purchase my first pot it got discontinued :( :( I m. Soooooooooooo sad!! Can t find any at the stores nearby either ..
I really really really hope lush brings it back under the Retro section..

I've had a lot of fun with this product. I mainly use it to give myself a faux hawk when I'm too lazy to get it cut that way. I've experimented with using it on both wet and dry hair and I've found it works best why barely wet hair. Just be careful when applying as it's very easy to put too much and end up with plasticky, crusty hair. I love the scent and don't regret buying it ever. It's gotten me out of many a bad hair day.

I have been trying to get my man to convert to using some Lush products as sneakily as possible. It started with getting him to use Fresh Farmacy sue to hismoily acne prone skin and the fact he was using a bar of drying body soap on his face made me cringe. Once he realized how much better his skin looked (and it does! Even a little glowy), I then got him to start using Tea Tree Water.... Last step is the hardest... moisturizer. For Christmas I got him Dirty shaving cream and Dirty hair styling cream as well as a small charity pot (he works with cardboard allday).... The shaving has definitely helped him wuth his ingrown hairs and razor burn and its moisturizing... But whenever I can I make sure he dabs on some Vanishing Cream... ANYWAY... Besides the FF, this hair styling cream is the only thing he has actually raved about... Multiple times. He has blonde hair andnother styling gels have always darkenes his hair, made it too crunchy, or made it so once he put it in, he was stuck with that style and couldnt change it. He LOVES that this doesnt change his hair color, how it feels in his hair, and how he can adjust throughout the day.... And i love the smell.

For men with curly hair that prefer a straight look (my hairstyle is the 1920's undercut... Jimmy Darmody look.) I use this after I've shampooed any debree out of my hair. I also like to use a hair dryer and bristle brush to smooth out the curls and waves in my hair before adding product. Once your hair is dry after brushing and drying hair into place, I rub a quarter size amount of the product vigorously on finger tips to palm. Then comb my fingers through hair and spread with palms evenly throughout the rest. Your hair will feel rewarded after this. The fantastic masculine smell will linger on for a few hours. I've had many compliments since using this. Don't miss out!

In attempts to Lush-convert my boyfriend, I bought him dirty hair cream. The smell is magical, its different on everyone and it blends with whatever other products you use. He has straight thick hair and uses it as a gel, he likes that it's not shiny.

Everytime I would go to his house, I would sneak a bit of it into my hair. I have thick and curly latin hair which doesnt get washed every day to preserve moisture and texture.

Here's the trick:

wash and condition. I use trichomania or godiva, then jungle or retread. then style as usual, for which I use R&B.

Dirty is a next-day fix. You can take a swipe of it and use as a pomade, or add some water to give it a creamier consistency. It won't get hard or crunchy, if you use the correct amount it wont be greasy and the texture it gives is just what the (hair) doctor ordered!

I reset my curls this way, both for next day or when I am on the go. My curly haired sisters will understand when I say that curls expire with the elements, and dirty is the saviour. Eventually I bought my own, my poor boyfriend was wondering why he would run out so quickly. When mixed with the R&B it gives a very refreshing scent that lingers softly. I get many compliments about smelling good and I know its the Dirty.

I have VERY frizzy curly hair that I've struggled with for years. I succumbed to a straightener/treatments for the past 6 years, but a few months ago I decided to go natural. I started using R&B which was wonderful, but I live in a very hot/humid place and my hair is extremely thick and frizzy, so I definitely needed more hold. I was at Lush and one of the employees recommended Dirty to me and gave me a sample. I washed my hair, combed it, and applied some R&B and Dirty on wet hair, and it was amazing! I am so happy. It gave my hair a lot of volume, defined the curls, and completely got rid of the frizz. I couldn't stop admiring my hair in the mirror. It also didn't make the curls crunchy at all, they looked soft and defined.

The smell is very strong, but I think it wears off a bit through the day and I know I got used to it. Its a wonderful product.

FIrst of all, the smell is amazing. Even on days when I don't need hair product I still put a tiny bit of this in my hair just to smell it all day. Having short hair, I need something with good hold that isn't too sticky or makes my hair rock hard, and this is just the thing for me. It keeps your hair soft, in place all day, and smelling fantastic. It also lasts a long time since a little goes a long way. If you're not sure, just try it. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely love this product. It smells great first of all, and it lasts ALL day long. I take a finger tip amount, rub over my hands, and run through my hair. It sets quickly, and holds each hair in place. Dries quickly, which is awesome, and holds all day long.

I took a finger tip and a half, massaged it all over my hands, applied it by running my hands through my hair in the opposite direction of how I wanted it to sit. After you pull the hair into place and there is a nice, volumizing effect without the greasy look. I have very fine hair that gets really oily, really quickly with bad product and a lot of pomades. This worked really well and smells great. My hair looks very naturally textured.

I wanted to start using a styling cream that would not make my curly Hispanic hair frizz, dry, flaky or feel crunchy, so what better products to check out than in LUSH? The Lush attendant suggested this product.

When I tried it out for the first time I washed my hair (with Big shampoo and Retread conditioner ... LOVE) and put the product straight on my damp hair. I let it air dry and WHOOLA my curly hair was shiny, smooth to the touch, soft and bouncy, and very little fly-a-ways. I always receive compliments on my curly hair since I begun to use this product.

Just don't use too much of it or it will be too much. I feel great that I'm using a great product with natural products in it.

I gave this four stars because while I cannot stand the smell and found it overbearing, the product is incredible. If you like the Dirty fragrance then I definately recommend.

I was disappointed that its smell did not really match the description. A lot more of the Thyme than any other scent.

I am a girl with super fine, thin, dark hair. I wear it short (about half way down my neck) and very layered because when it's long, it becomes even more obvious how thin and fine it is. I prefer a messy, frilly style, but no matter what products I used, it was always obvious that my hair was fine and thin, pomades all weighed it down and plastered it to my head, hair powders always made it feel gross and get tangled too easily.
On one of my tri-monthly Lush binges, I decided to give Lush Dirty a try and am I ever glad it did! In the bottle it smells very herby, but once it's on your hair other scents start to come out that make it smell clean and fresh (try rubbing some into your wrist at the store, because the smell in the container really is different).
This product really does have a great hold, and on my super fine hair (which is also very shiny), it builds up without weighing it down. It has a mattify-ing effect which makes my hair appear thicker and more full, and, even though this might sound like a contradiction, because of this mattify-ing effect, it actually brings out natural highlights that I didn't even know my hair had!
I use it when I get out of the shower on my damp hair, brush it into the style I want and let it air dry. Once it's dry, I brush it again into the style I want, coat my hands with the product and work it through again for finishing details. I've never found a need to re-apply throughout the day, but if I need a touch up, it doesn't get tangled like other products, so I can just run a brush through my hair and muss it up all over again!
I also feel as though I should add one final thing. I live in Boston and over the past few days, we've had a ridiculous heat wave (95+ degrees!) and when I used to use pomade in similar weather, it would literally melt on my hair, leaving me looking disgusting and totally greasy for the entire day. Not the case with Dirty! I can get into my sweltering car, put the windows down and not worry about cranking my AC just to keep my hair looking decent because this product does not melt in the heat!
If Lush ever discontinues this product, I will be absolutely inconsolable!

For starters, I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! I have natural african american hair (mostly 4a for those who go by hair type) and i have tried so many products to use for wash and go's and none of them get the job done right (leave my hair dry, cause build up, no curl definition, bad ingredients, etc.) I bought this this styling cream yesterday and worked it through my freshly washed, wet hair in the shower this morning and when I got out ad looked in the mirror, I WAS AMAZED!My hair smelled great (this product has a very natural fresh/minty smell)and looked awesome! When it was mostly dry a few hours later, my hair felt soft, had get curl definition, and was left moisturized! Couldn't ask for more! THANKS LUSH!

I have very short curly hair and typically used gel to style my hair. I decided to try this because one of the descriptions was "gives hair a wet look." Unfortunately for me, my hair looks pretty dull when I use this product. I love everything about it except the lack of shine. Leaves my hair soft but controlled, tames frizz and smells great. But no shine. That just won't do :(

I went from very long fine hair to very short hair. I bought this for my husband for Christmas but in the end grabbed it from his shelf and never returned it. I DID return the expensive item my hair stylist recommended I use. I will be heading to LUSH to get my second pot of DIRTY! It is easy to use, lightweight and allows you to sdjust your style during the day, if needed. Love this product! Thanks.

This should be renamed to "Yes, ma'am!" because it makes your hair do what you want! I was amazed when I tried it - it is what I have been looking for all my life! (and I am in my late 40's). I am a female w/ curly & fine hair which can be a difficult combo to hold a style or ever look good. This product smooths my hair, gives volume, and holds the style without making my hair greasy or flat - a combo I have never been able to see another product achieve. my friends were amazed at the difference in my appearance. I use a tiny amount, rub together on fingertips and quickly & lightly spread thru hair. Different amounts give different effects. Whoever formulated this is a genius - PLEASE don't stop making this LUSH!!!
