Start by moistening your face and the cleansing bar with water. Rub the bar in your hands to create a lather. Apply to your face in a gentle, circular motion, avoiding the eye area. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and pat dry. For best results follow with the LUSH toner and moisturizer that best suit your skin type.

Soothing calamine cleanser
Feel like you have the world’s most sensitive skin? Allow us to prescribe you a bar of Fresh Farmacy, our calamine-based cleansing bar. Fresh Farmacy contains chamomile extract to calm, rose and lavender to soothe dry patches and tea tree to clear up any blemishes. The name stems all the way back to the beginning of LUSH, when we held a competition to name the company. Although we (obviously) went with another option, we thought the name appropriate for our problem-solving cleanser.
- Oh-so sensitive? Fresh Farmacy is ideal for those experiencing redness, irritation or blemishes.
- Gently cleansing suds: It lightly foams to gently cleanse easily irritated faces without over drying.
- It’s not just for bug bites: Powdered calamine is an effective ingredient to calm troubled skin.

Q:I have very oily skin and acne prone skin. I currently use Angels on bare skin in the morning and I love it, and at night I use a different makeup removing cleanser to remove my makeup. But I don't want to use it anymore because it does nothing for my skin and tends to dry it out. Using AOBS is really nice on my skin but I want something that will help my acne. On my acne I have really dry flakes. I wanted to get Fresh Farmacy because I've been told its great for acne prone skin. I was wondering if this would dry out my skin? And is really going to work for my acne?Asked on 5/23/2015 by Susana from Petaluma, CA
A:At night you'd probably have a better time using Ultrabland to remove your make-up. This will dissolve your make-up away and help to control oil without drying out the skins natural moisture barrier. To use you would simply apply a thin layer, work around your make-up and then wipe off with a warm face cloth. You could follow this with Fresh Farmacy for a very effective clean that isn't to drying.Answered on 5/26/2015 by Alexander from Lush Direct
A:Hmmm, I am not sure Fresh Farmacy is what you want to use if you are looking
for help with really dry flakes on your skin. My favorite cleanser is Angels
on Bare Skin. I have used it for years and found it helps control my acne
(T-zone area) mostly. I would suggest a very light moisturizer for your skin
to use in the evening after you remove your make-up and wash with AOBS. I
would give Imperialis a try. It was recommended by LUSH for my combination
skin and it did not make me break out or add too much oil to my already oily
zones. If you are dead set against a moisturizer, which I was for years, I
would try a different cleanser. You want to stay away from ones that will
foam like Fresh Farmacy or Coal Face. So try either Let the Good Times Roll
or Herbalism. I have also tried Aqua Marina but didn't care for the
consistency. If you live near a LUSH store, the fresh masks work wonders. A
store associate can help you choose the right one for your face. Hope this
was some help and best wishes.Answered on 5/24/2015 by kc_train from Kansas
Q:I just purchased Fresh Farmacy today (along with Mask of Magnaminty), because I needed something for my acne-prone skin. I've been reading on this website that a toner and moisturizer should be used afterward. Is this strongly recommended, or just a loose suggestion? Because I usually can't stand anything on my skin (I don't wear makeup because of this) and don't want to put more than I need to on it.Asked on 4/22/2015 by Eleza from North Carolina
A:I do not wear makeup either for the very same reason, I can't stand anything
on my skin. I have toner and moisturizer both from LUSH but rarely use them.
Both are helpful to your skin's long term health and if they control your
acne-prone skin then try to use them more often. Having said all that,
neither are a requirement, just a loose suggestion. There are those that
swear by toner and moisturizer but really it is just personal preference.Answered on 4/26/2015 by kc_train from Kansas
A:There is no required routine with LUSH products - you're free to use them however you like. The cleanser - toner - moisturizer routine is simply something some people feel is the most effective skincare routine.Answered on 4/26/2015 by Myriam from LUSH Digital
A:Yes it's a must, toner balances the skins ph levels then the moisturizer helps the skin stay hydrated so your skin doesn't think it's to dry which will cause it to over produces oil which can cause more breakouts and oily skin. always use it and you'll see a difference and if you don't like heavy products on your face get a light moisturizer. Toner dries after 30 seconds so you'll enjoy that. A couple of hints use a cotton pad with toner if you need the extra clean. Always make sure the toner is dry before applying moisturizer.
•Ariel Ketchner HarknessAnswered on 4/22/2015 by Ariel from Arizona
A:It's a loose suggestion. You usually cleanse, toner then use a moisturizer or serum. For me, I have acne prone skin to and I usually cleanse, toner and then use Full of Grace serum. For extra, you could use a moisturizer after but I don't!Answered on 4/22/2015 by Anonymous
Q:I am looking at buying a new face wash because nothing I have used before has helped. My skin is typically oily and dry at the same time. I don't have terribly bad acne but I mainly just have lots of annoying blackhead type things on my four head. I do get regular pimples regularly. I just want to know if this product will get deep into my pores and get rid of all the little bumps and blackheads on my skin. Thanks!!Asked on 4/21/2015 by LouLou
A:To help get rid of black heads, you'll need a deep exfoliating cleanser rather than something that sticks more to the surface like Fresh Farmacy. I would recommend Dark Angels. It's made out of a base of rhassoul mud and charcoal, which will absorb any excess oil from your skin without over drying it out. The black sugar provides ample amounts of exfoliation to unclog pores and get rid of unwanted dead skin.Answered on 4/26/2015 by Myriam from LUSH Digital
A:It has worked wonders for my husbands and I's skin. But black heads and white heads don't go away because of a wash. Those are clogged pores and they can only go away by removing the blockage and then after doing damage control like fresh pharmacy soap and toner and a moisturizer that suits your skin type. Regular facials would be a recommendation. :)
•Ariel Ketchner HarknessAnswered on 4/24/2015 by Ariel from Arizona
A:I have similar skin to what you described. I got better results with Angels
on Bare Skin than I did with Fresh Farmacy Cleanser. Angels on Bare Skin was
a little more abrasive and helped with my blackheads and controlled my oily
T Zone. Fresh Farmacy is not as a abrasive and tended to dry my skin out in
my already dry areas and had no affect on my oily areas. Plus Angels on Bare
Skin made my pores look a little smaller!? Good luck with either choice.Answered on 4/21/2015 by kc_train from Kansas
Q:I am currently using this product. I understand it does not lather much, but as I got to the end of the bar, it seemed like it dried up so that I can't get any lather at all and it is starting to break when I rub it hard. Has anyone found any tricks (e.g. heat is up) to get the most out of my remaining 1/2-inch pieces?Asked on 4/14/2015 by Julie the Lush lover from San Diego, CA
A:I've found that rubbing the bar with a washcloth works wonders. The cloth helps to pick up the soap if you find your bar is a bit dryer than when you first purchased it.Answered on 4/15/2015 by Kels from LUSH Direct
A:Wow, thanks for the heads up. I, too, am nearing the end of the bar. Mine
has not dried up yet and I am still able to get a fair amount of lather
while using the bar. I have found that vigorously rubbing the bar under
running water increases the later production. I personally have not heard
of any tricks to increase the lather but I will treat my remaining bar a
little more gently.Answered on 4/14/2015 by kc_train from Kansas
Q:Can I also use this on my chest and back in the shower? Does it help clear up skin? I don't have super bad acne but I usually always have some kind of blemish (usually blackheads) on my four head. Also, how long does it last? Thanks!Asked on 4/3/2015 by Em
A:Yes, you can use Fresh Farmacy Cleanser on your chest and back in the
shower. Fresh Farmacy has helped me clear up my skin. I have large pores and
blackheads in my T zone and this has helped shrink the appearance of my
pores. The bar does last longer than I thought it would. I have had mine for
several months now but a lot of that would depend on how much you use the
bar and how often.Answered on 4/3/2015 by kc_train from Kansas
A:Yes, you could use it all over. It is great for helping with blemish prone skin, even those with sensitive skin.Answered on 4/3/2015 by Lana from LUSH Direct
Q:Hi. I have recently been diagnosed with Rosacea, I have been using a prescribed cream and it works great, however, I do want a new facial cleanser (and moisturizer if you can recommend one), I love the feel of exfoliating cleansers, but now that I know my issue, I think I need to find something else, I'm wondering if this would be the best option for a cleanser. Thank you for your recommendations!Asked on 3/11/2015 by Val from Ohio
A:Fresh Farmacy was actually designed for sensitive skin that experiences breakouts of the oily variety. It has a ton of Calamine powder in it to help calm any kind of redness you may be experiencing. That being said I think you should check out our new MPG free MOVIS soap with a tone of Vitamen E and gently exfoliating Wholemeal Bread.Answered on 3/21/2015 by Alexander from LUSH Direct
A:Sometimes the tea tree oil in the Fresh Farmacy soap can be irritating for those with sensitive skin. Consider looking at our Ultrabland and Aqua Marina cleanser too! I have found them great cleansers for those who suffer from Rosacea.Answered on 3/21/2015 by Kels from LUSH Direct
A:I would first and foremost check with your doctor before trying any new
products. Having said that, I think Fresh Farmacy Cleanser would be nice and
mild for your skin with just a little exfoliation. As for moisturizers, I
use Imperialis and find that gentle for my mature skin type. However, I am
thinking you might try Celestial but I am sure a LUSH associate would be
able to guide you towards a moisturizer suited for your face type.Answered on 3/11/2015 by kc_train from Kansas
A:Yes! This cleanser is milky and mild! Very smooth and gentle on my skin. Imperialis is my favorite daytime moisturizer and is great for combination skin and wear under makeup. Skin drink is great in the evening for parched skin. Hope this helps!

Q:Can and should fresh farmacy be used with an exfoliater? If so, which do you recommend for combination, acne-prone skin?Asked on 11/18/2014 by KayKay
A:It definitely can! If your skin is a little more on the sensitive side, I would suggest trying out our Angels on Bare Skin cleanser. It has ground almonds in it, so it provides some exfoliation, but nothing too intense! If you're looking for something a little heavier duty, give our Ocean Salt a try. This facial exfoliator is loaded with coarse and fine sea salt to scrub away dead skin, as well as bright citrus infusions such as lime and grapefruit to brighten your complexion!Answered on 11/19/2014 by Serena from LUSH Direct
A:I recommend self-preserving Ocean Salt. It is a vodka lime oil infused
cocktail you may use in conjunction with fresh farmacy. I find that when I
use S/P Ocean Salt in the morning it really tightens and brightens my skin.
It keeps trouble at bay too. If you are on the sensitive side use the scrub
as needed. It definitely gets all the dead skin off, helps with spots and
keeps your skin fresh and clean!Answered on 11/18/2014 by Anonymous
A:Whether or not you exfoliate your skin in combination with Fresh Farmacy is
entirely up to you. It is not going to harm your skin, it may help it or not
but only after you try it a few times will you know for sure. I regularly
use Angels on Bare Skin and have used it with Fresh Farmacy but found it to
be too harsh on my mature, combination skin type. I use either one but not
both at the same time. I have also tried Herbalism and like it just as well
as Angels on Bare Skin.Answered on 11/18/2014 by kc_train from Kansas
A:Personally, I would not use Fresh Farmacy as an exfoliator. It dries out your skin which is really good for getting rid of acne and it's nice and gentle on the skin. Just make sure when using Fresh Farmacy, you combine it with a good moisturizer. It tends to dry it out a little too well. As for an exfoliator, I would suggest maybe try using herbalism. It is very grainy, but easy on the skin at the same time! I hope this helped!

Q:Why would you put fragrance in a cleanser for sensitive skin? Or any cleanser?Asked on 11/10/2014 by Lea
A:The word "fragrance" in the cosmetic industry is an umbrella term that allows companies to keep secrecy in a couple ingredients so that the product cannot be replicated. The same high quality ethical ingredients that go into our products are used in our fragrances. We also publish quantitative ingredient lists of all our products. You'll find that fragrance is often at the bottom which means it is present in low concentrations. While Fresh Farmacy contains a mild fragrance, not all our cleaners do. If fragrance is a concern of yours, I would recommend taking a look at Angels on Bare Skin.Answered on 11/12/2014 by Rene
A:I don't think LUSH added any fragrance to the Fresh Farmacy Cleanser. What
fragrance there is from the cleanser is just the smell of the calamine and
chamomile soap, it is extremely mild. The same goes for Angels on Bare Skin,
the only fragrance comes from the lavender, rose and chamomile oil.Answered on 11/11/2014 by kc_train from Kansas
Q:i just bought the cleanser fresh farmacy (125g), and i Wonder how long would it last, as i didn't found any time Storage mentionned. thank youAsked on 10/6/2014 by mahaty
A:Fresh Farmacy has a 14 month shelf-life from the date it was made, and will last longest if you are storing it in a cool, dry place between uses.Answered on 10/7/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:How long the cleanser will last is hard to answer. I have had mine a few
months now and it is finally getting smaller. I wash my face every day but
do not use Fresh Farmacy cleanser every day. I would guess it is going to
last you a lot longer than you think.Answered on 10/6/2014 by kc_train from Kansas
Q:I've been told it's better to wash your face every night and morning- but I saw in the comments that multiple people only wash their face before bed ? Wish one is best ? should I just clear my face with fresh water in the morning and wash it at night ?Tho it seems pretty smooth like cleanserAsked on 10/4/2014 by Lea from Canada
A:I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to your question, you need to
do what works best for your skin type. There are several factors that go
into making a decision though. Do you wear make-up? If you do then you for
sure want to wash your face before going to bed at night and probably do not
need to wash it again in the morning before applying the days make-up. Is
your skin oily in the evening or at all? If it is, then you might want to
wash your face in the evening and the morning time. Do you put on any kind
of overnight cream? If you do then you will want to start with a clean fresh
face in the morning. I do not wear make-up nor do I use an overnight cream
so I just wash my face once a day during my daily shower which is usually in
the AM. My favorite LUSH cleanser is Angels on Bare Skin. I have used Fresh
Farmacy Cleanser, Coalface, Let The Good Times Roll and Aqua Marina.
Currently I am trying out Herbalism but still my favorite is Angels on Bare
Skin. Again, it really all depends on your skin type and how you treat your
skin during the day. Best of luck to you.Answered on 10/5/2014 by kc_train from Kansas
A:It really just depends on your skin, and your routine preference. If you find that your skin is on the oilier side, perhaps cleansing twice per day would make a difference for you. One isn't really better than the other, though, as it totally depends on the individual!Answered on 10/5/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:Lea, I would only wash my face once a day, as it could dry your skin too
much to wash twice. I wound relax abs wash your face when you shower.
Whatever works for you and your schedule. I would rinse my face at the end
of every work day. Any time my face was exposed to dirt, I would rinse.
Hope this works for you.Answered on 10/5/2014 by Anonymous
Q:I have been having problems with my skin lately, most likely due to stress and lack of sleep. I've experienced clogged pores and dry skin. I was wondering whether this would be a good choice or "Herbalism?" Thanks!Asked on 9/23/2014 by Emma
A:No, I don't think that this is the right product for you. I would recommend Mask of Magnanimity to use on occasion, because it is very clarifying and it's not just for your face, but your body as well. I would also recommend using Ocean Salt to brighten your skin and as a daily cleanser definitely give Angels on Bare Skin a try!Answered on 9/25/2014 by Anonymous
Q:I got Angels on Bare Skin as my first LUSH cleanser for my combination skin. (Dry cheeks, normal chin, normal/oily nose and forehead) and something in it reacted very badly with my skin. In the shop on my hand, it was fine and felt wonderful but my face was massacred! It was okay in the shower but once dry, I could feel the heat in my cheeks and they were very tender, red, and looked sunburned. I will be exchanging it for a different cleanser and I think Fresh Farmacy might be best but I think it was the lavender, chamomile, or maybe rose absolute that I reacted to unless it was something further down the list. My concern is that Fresh Farm has chamomile as a main ingredient and then lavender and rose further down. Should I get this or try something else like Aqua Marina? (with winter coming up, my skin becomes fairly acne prone so I don't know if AM will work for that.)Asked on 9/17/2014 by Laura from United States
A:My suggestion would be to perhaps ask for a sample of each since you may be allergic to one of the ingredients. Or perhaps even get an allergy test done to see what ingredient in particular you need to stay away from.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT
A:Hmmm, you obviously have very sensitive skin. Angels on Bare Skin is my
favorite cleanser from LUSH. Due to the ground almonds in the product I had
to learn not to rub too hard and damage the surface of my skin. Your best
bet would be to try Fresh Farmacy. I have used Fresh Farmacy and found it
very mild and good for combination skin, although I thought it did tend to
over dry my skin somewhat. Perhaps exchange Angels on Bare Skin for Fresh
Farmacy and ask for a sample of Aqua Marina.Answered on 9/17/2014 by kc_train from Kansas
A:I use fresh farmacy in all seasons. I had acne issues on my chin and forehead but not any more. Best facial cleanser I have ever used. I have sensitive skin and allergic to several ingredients however never had a problem with fresh farmacy. It does make my skin feel tight right after it dries however after a bit of moisturizer it feels good. Hope this was helpful!

Q:Recently just got this to try and branch away from the gentle exfoliating face cleansers, but I was apprehensive because of the fact it's a bar and it comes with no means of protective storage. I saw that someone mentioned one of the tins for travel, but the tins look way too small, especially for the block I got. I also saw another person sort of mention keeping the bar out to dry. I totally understand the point to let it dry between uses, but I'm slightly germaphobic when it comes to beauty bars or anything in bar form when it's left out in the open. Is it better to let it dry out in the open and invest in a good sized soap dish for storage uses? Also should I not be putting it away in a clean and empty cleanser pot? Because I almost feel it might be worse than leaving it to sit out in the open.Asked on 7/22/2014 by Chica San from Philadelphia, PA
A:I know it seems counterintuitive, but leaving your soap out to dry is the best thing if you are a germaphobe. Bacteria and germs thirve best in water. That is why Lush solid items do not require perservatives. Let it dry and then store it in a large black Lush container to keep nasty things from reproducing.Answered on 2/14/2015 by Maggie from Laguna, California
A:Using your empty black pots would work great for the bar, but they are right when they say let it air dry a little first. If you put it into an inclosed space germs will likely grow due to the moisture. Also, you could try to store your Fresh Farmacy in the container since it's on the large size and only take what you need so the whole bar doesn't get wet and will not need to be air dried out.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Anonymous
A:I would suggest leaving the Farmacy cleanser out in the open to dry out in
between uses, that is what I do. And I do use a clean and empty cleanser pot
without the lid to store it. I make sure there is no extra water accumulated
on the bottom of the pot after use so the soap does not melt. You can invest
in a good sized soap dish for storage but I would look for one that has
drainage holes so the extra water is pulled away from the product. I have
found the bar to last a long time. Good luck and hopefully you will find a
method for storage that works for you.Answered on 7/22/2014 by kc_train from Kansas
Q:I purchased Fresh Farmacy yesterday and was wondering what the best way would be to store it after use (open or closed container) and if I should rub the bar on face as well as my hands to make a better and more penetrating lather?Asked on 7/2/2014 by maitycakes
A:The way you store Fresh Farmacy is completely up to you as long as you keep it in a cool, dry area. Some people prefer to keep it exposed on a self-draining soap dish, while others prefer a closed container. Both are okay! As for applying the bar directly to the face, you absolutely can if you like. The product has less of a lather than some of our other cleansers, so you likely won't find that it makes a generous lather either way.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:I cut my bar up in slices and store the unused portion in the wrap it comes with then I put that in a ziplock baggie. I do both, I use the small chunk I've cut off and lather up in my hands then wash my face normally. Sometimes I use the bar directly on my face when I have acne is like to clear up faster. Good luck, you're going to love it!!Answered on 7/2/2014 by Lushaddick from San Francisco
A:I store my Fresh Farmacy bar in an large open container. I make sure not to
get too much water in the bottom so the soap does not end up sitting in
water. I take the bar out of the container away from the stream of shower
water, use the soap and return the bar to the container, again keeping the
container itself away from water as much as possible. I lather up the bar
using my hands, return the bar to the container, then use the lather to wash
with. The bar does tend to drag across the skin at first so I would avoid
starting this way but if you want to bring the bar to your face for more
penetrating lather after the initial lather than go for it.Answered on 7/2/2014 by kc_train from Kansas
Q:I'm pregnant, would this be safe to use?Asked on 4/10/2014 by Mommy2Be from New Mexico
A:Fresh Farmacy is made for people with very sensitive skin so it should be fine. However if you have any concerns, you should take the list of ingredients on the site to your medical professional to check out.Answered on 4/11/2014 by Anonymous
A:I don't see any reason why not. The ingredients are natural and calming to the skin. I have extremely sensitive skin and it has done wonders for my completion. It wouldn't hurt to ask your OBGYN just in case. :)

I also have the Tea Tree Water Toner and I feel like when I apply it on my face, my skin tightens up a bit (it doesn't make it dry) ...either way I would really like to know which one of the Lush moisturizers would be the best for my skin since I have very sensitive dry/flaky skin.Asked on 2/18/2014 by ashesandroses
A:Everybody is different so the best thing you can do is try until you find one that works for you, but if you you want a good place to start I would suggest Imperialis or perhaps Gorgeous.Answered on 4/2/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT

Q:I am new to LUSH products- my friend recommended them to me. My face is super dry and sensitive, but I also get breakouts in certain areas on my cheeks/chin/sometimes forehead. I can't decide if I should get fresh farmacy or Aqua marina?Asked on 2/16/2014 by Kristen from Bloomington, IN
A:From the description of your skin, Fresh Farmacy would probably be the best choice. It is really effective at treating acne and blemishes, but is also soothing and balancing so should help with dryness and sensitivities. Aqua Marina is formulated for mature skin or skin in need of moisture as it contains ingredients to help with moisturizing, soothing, and hydrating the skin more so than treating break-outs.Answered on 4/2/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:My skin is exactly as described in your question, sensitive and dry but
prone to breakouts. I have not used aqua marina, but I am currently using
fresh farmacy. Fresh farmacy is very soothing and calming. My skin feels
relieved after washing. I also enjoy using Grease lightning for acne spot
treatment and Celestial as my moisturizer. They are great for sensitive
skin. Hope this helps :)Answered on 2/16/2014 by Anonymous
Q:Since this is so light and good for sensitive skin, would it be possible to "combine" it with another cleanser?
I use herbalism in the morning and let the good time rolls at night.
Would this make a good "refresher" or afternoon/evening cleanser inbetween the two?
Or is that just too much cleanser in one day?Asked on 11/24/2013 by shea the lush newbie from dallas, tx
A:Fresh Farmacy does have a lot of pharmaceutical properties which are ideal for the skin! I would suggest using some of the cleansers once or twice a week just so that your skin won't break out from too much products! If you find that it is working well, I would continue with your facial regiment as everyone's skin is very different!Answered on 11/28/2013 by Anonymous
Q:I have acne-prone skin on my shoulders, and sometimes my chest (when I get very stressed). Can I use this on my body? If not, what do you suggest?Asked on 10/29/2013 by Jordan from Berkeley, CA
A:With Fresh Farmacy, I would not recommend using on your body as it is meant as a facial cleanser. This is not to say it's bad for your body but I would suggest using body products for skin blemishes on the body.
I would try out Mud Flats soap if you are looking for a product for your body. You might be surprised to know that antiseptic rosemary, salt, tea tree, sage and cleansing Moroccan clay can make such a difference, but the powerful combination of these ingredients is what clears out dirt, oil and debris from the skin.
I hope this helps!Answered on 11/17/2013 by Anonymous
A:Yup. This product works great on chest and shoulders. Clears acne well and is very gentle.Answered on 10/30/2013 by Anonymous
A:I use it on my face, shoulders, chest and sometimes my back. I get occasional breakouts there as well and the fresh farmacy soap helps to clean and dry it out a bit. I am allergic to some ingredients in soaps and creams and have to be careful what I put on my skin. I love it and won't use any other soap on my face. Hope this helps:)

Q:How well does this remove waterproof eye makeup?Asked on 9/5/2013 by Rachel from Indianapolis, IN
A:From the customer reviews I have previously read, this product does not remove waterpoof eye makeup. You can also use some coconut oil to remove your makeup, as I've been told it does have an effect!Answered on 11/28/2013 by Anonymous
A:Not well at all, hahaha. It might move it around a bit... I would recommend using an oil based eye makeup remover from another brand, as LUSH doesn't seem to have any great makeup removers. 9 to 5 works fine, but I can't imagine it doing much for waterproof.Answered on 9/18/2013 by Grace Deehl from Miami, FL
