Start by moistening your face and the cleansing bar with water. Rub the bar in your hands to create a lather. Apply to your face in a gentle, circular motion, avoiding the eye area. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and pat dry. For best results follow with the LUSH toner and moisturizer that best suit your skin type.

Soothing calamine cleanser
Feel like you have the world’s most sensitive skin? Allow us to prescribe you a bar of Fresh Farmacy, our calamine-based cleansing bar. Fresh Farmacy contains chamomile extract to calm, rose and lavender to soothe dry patches and tea tree to clear up any blemishes. The name stems all the way back to the beginning of LUSH, when we held a competition to name the company. Although we (obviously) went with another option, we thought the name appropriate for our problem-solving cleanser.
- Oh-so sensitive? Fresh Farmacy is ideal for those experiencing redness, irritation or blemishes.
- Gently cleansing suds: It lightly foams to gently cleanse easily irritated faces without over drying.
- It’s not just for bug bites: Powdered calamine is an effective ingredient to calm troubled skin.

Q:I have been having problems with my skin lately, most likely due to stress and lack of sleep. I've experienced clogged pores and dry skin. I was wondering whether this would be a good choice or "Herbalism?" Thanks!Asked on 9/23/2014 by Emma
A:No, I don't think that this is the right product for you. I would recommend Mask of Magnanimity to use on occasion, because it is very clarifying and it's not just for your face, but your body as well. I would also recommend using Ocean Salt to brighten your skin and as a daily cleanser definitely give Angels on Bare Skin a try!Answered on 9/25/2014 by Anonymous
Q:I got Angels on Bare Skin as my first LUSH cleanser for my combination skin. (Dry cheeks, normal chin, normal/oily nose and forehead) and something in it reacted very badly with my skin. In the shop on my hand, it was fine and felt wonderful but my face was massacred! It was okay in the shower but once dry, I could feel the heat in my cheeks and they were very tender, red, and looked sunburned. I will be exchanging it for a different cleanser and I think Fresh Farmacy might be best but I think it was the lavender, chamomile, or maybe rose absolute that I reacted to unless it was something further down the list. My concern is that Fresh Farm has chamomile as a main ingredient and then lavender and rose further down. Should I get this or try something else like Aqua Marina? (with winter coming up, my skin becomes fairly acne prone so I don't know if AM will work for that.)Asked on 9/17/2014 by Laura from United States
A:My suggestion would be to perhaps ask for a sample of each since you may be allergic to one of the ingredients. Or perhaps even get an allergy test done to see what ingredient in particular you need to stay away from.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT
A:Hmmm, you obviously have very sensitive skin. Angels on Bare Skin is my
favorite cleanser from LUSH. Due to the ground almonds in the product I had
to learn not to rub too hard and damage the surface of my skin. Your best
bet would be to try Fresh Farmacy. I have used Fresh Farmacy and found it
very mild and good for combination skin, although I thought it did tend to
over dry my skin somewhat. Perhaps exchange Angels on Bare Skin for Fresh
Farmacy and ask for a sample of Aqua Marina.Answered on 9/17/2014 by kc_train from Kansas
A:I use fresh farmacy in all seasons. I had acne issues on my chin and forehead but not any more. Best facial cleanser I have ever used. I have sensitive skin and allergic to several ingredients however never had a problem with fresh farmacy. It does make my skin feel tight right after it dries however after a bit of moisturizer it feels good. Hope this was helpful!

Q:Recently just got this to try and branch away from the gentle exfoliating face cleansers, but I was apprehensive because of the fact it's a bar and it comes with no means of protective storage. I saw that someone mentioned one of the tins for travel, but the tins look way too small, especially for the block I got. I also saw another person sort of mention keeping the bar out to dry. I totally understand the point to let it dry between uses, but I'm slightly germaphobic when it comes to beauty bars or anything in bar form when it's left out in the open. Is it better to let it dry out in the open and invest in a good sized soap dish for storage uses? Also should I not be putting it away in a clean and empty cleanser pot? Because I almost feel it might be worse than leaving it to sit out in the open.Asked on 7/22/2014 by Chica San from Philadelphia, PA
A:Using your empty black pots would work great for the bar, but they are right when they say let it air dry a little first. If you put it into an inclosed space germs will likely grow due to the moisture. Also, you could try to store your Fresh Farmacy in the container since it's on the large size and only take what you need so the whole bar doesn't get wet and will not need to be air dried out.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Anonymous
A:I would suggest leaving the Farmacy cleanser out in the open to dry out in
between uses, that is what I do. And I do use a clean and empty cleanser pot
without the lid to store it. I make sure there is no extra water accumulated
on the bottom of the pot after use so the soap does not melt. You can invest
in a good sized soap dish for storage but I would look for one that has
drainage holes so the extra water is pulled away from the product. I have
found the bar to last a long time. Good luck and hopefully you will find a
method for storage that works for you.Answered on 7/22/2014 by kc_train from Kansas
Q:I purchased Fresh Farmacy yesterday and was wondering what the best way would be to store it after use (open or closed container) and if I should rub the bar on face as well as my hands to make a better and more penetrating lather?Asked on 7/2/2014 by maitycakes
A:The way you store Fresh Farmacy is completely up to you as long as you keep it in a cool, dry area. Some people prefer to keep it exposed on a self-draining soap dish, while others prefer a closed container. Both are okay! As for applying the bar directly to the face, you absolutely can if you like. The product has less of a lather than some of our other cleansers, so you likely won't find that it makes a generous lather either way.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:I cut my bar up in slices and store the unused portion in the wrap it comes with then I put that in a ziplock baggie. I do both, I use the small chunk I've cut off and lather up in my hands then wash my face normally. Sometimes I use the bar directly on my face when I have acne is like to clear up faster. Good luck, you're going to love it!!Answered on 7/2/2014 by Lushaddick from San Francisco
A:I store my Fresh Farmacy bar in an large open container. I make sure not to
get too much water in the bottom so the soap does not end up sitting in
water. I take the bar out of the container away from the stream of shower
water, use the soap and return the bar to the container, again keeping the
container itself away from water as much as possible. I lather up the bar
using my hands, return the bar to the container, then use the lather to wash
with. The bar does tend to drag across the skin at first so I would avoid
starting this way but if you want to bring the bar to your face for more
penetrating lather after the initial lather than go for it.Answered on 7/2/2014 by kc_train from Kansas
Q:I'm pregnant, would this be safe to use?Asked on 4/10/2014 by Mommy2Be from New Mexico
A:Fresh Farmacy is made for people with very sensitive skin so it should be fine. However if you have any concerns, you should take the list of ingredients on the site to your medical professional to check out.Answered on 4/11/2014 by Anonymous
A:I don't see any reason why not. The ingredients are natural and calming to the skin. I have extremely sensitive skin and it has done wonders for my completion. It wouldn't hurt to ask your OBGYN just in case. :)

Q:So I just recently bought this product and I love it. I also have the Tea Tree Water Toner and I feel like when I apply it on my face, my skin tightens up a bit (it doesn't make it dry) ...either way I would really like to know which one of the Lush moisturizers would be the best for my skin since I have very sensitive dry/flaky skin.Asked on 2/18/2014 by ashesandroses
A:Everybody is different so the best thing you can do is try until you find one that works for you, but if you you want a good place to start I would suggest Imperialis or perhaps Gorgeous.Answered on 4/2/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT
A:I love enzymion. I don't use the toner but after fresh farmacy I do grease lightning on spots and enzymion everywhere. This combo is the first thing in twenty years to keep my skin clear.Answered on 2/18/2014 by Anonymous
Q:I am new to LUSH products- my friend recommended them to me. My face is super dry and sensitive, but I also get breakouts in certain areas on my cheeks/chin/sometimes forehead. I can't decide if I should get fresh farmacy or Aqua marina?Asked on 2/16/2014 by Kristen from Bloomington, IN
A:From the description of your skin, Fresh Farmacy would probably be the best choice. It is really effective at treating acne and blemishes, but is also soothing and balancing so should help with dryness and sensitivities. Aqua Marina is formulated for mature skin or skin in need of moisture as it contains ingredients to help with moisturizing, soothing, and hydrating the skin more so than treating break-outs.Answered on 4/2/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:My skin is exactly as described in your question, sensitive and dry but
prone to breakouts. I have not used aqua marina, but I am currently using
fresh farmacy. Fresh farmacy is very soothing and calming. My skin feels
relieved after washing. I also enjoy using Grease lightning for acne spot
treatment and Celestial as my moisturizer. They are great for sensitive
skin. Hope this helps :)Answered on 2/16/2014 by Anonymous
Q:Since this is so light and good for sensitive skin, would it be possible to "combine" it with another cleanser?
I use herbalism in the morning and let the good time rolls at night.
Would this make a good "refresher" or afternoon/evening cleanser inbetween the two?
Or is that just too much cleanser in one day?Asked on 11/24/2013 by shea the lush newbie from dallas, tx
A:Fresh Farmacy does have a lot of pharmaceutical properties which are ideal for the skin! I would suggest using some of the cleansers once or twice a week just so that your skin won't break out from too much products! If you find that it is working well, I would continue with your facial regiment as everyone's skin is very different!Answered on 11/28/2013 by Anonymous
Q:I have acne-prone skin on my shoulders, and sometimes my chest (when I get very stressed). Can I use this on my body? If not, what do you suggest?Asked on 10/29/2013 by Jordan from Berkeley, CA
A:With Fresh Farmacy, I would not recommend using on your body as it is meant as a facial cleanser. This is not to say it's bad for your body but I would suggest using body products for skin blemishes on the body.
I would try out Mud Flats soap if you are looking for a product for your body. You might be surprised to know that antiseptic rosemary, salt, tea tree, sage and cleansing Moroccan clay can make such a difference, but the powerful combination of these ingredients is what clears out dirt, oil and debris from the skin.
I hope this helps!Answered on 11/17/2013 by Anonymous
A:Yup. This product works great on chest and shoulders. Clears acne well and is very gentle.Answered on 10/30/2013 by Anonymous
A:I use it on my face, shoulders, chest and sometimes my back. I get occasional breakouts there as well and the fresh farmacy soap helps to clean and dry it out a bit. I am allergic to some ingredients in soaps and creams and have to be careful what I put on my skin. I love it and won't use any other soap on my face. Hope this helps:)

Q:How well does this remove waterproof eye makeup?Asked on 9/5/2013 by Rachel from Indianapolis, IN
A:From the customer reviews I have previously read, this product does not remove waterpoof eye makeup. You can also use some coconut oil to remove your makeup, as I've been told it does have an effect!Answered on 11/28/2013 by Anonymous
A:Not well at all, hahaha. It might move it around a bit... I would recommend using an oil based eye makeup remover from another brand, as LUSH doesn't seem to have any great makeup removers. 9 to 5 works fine, but I can't imagine it doing much for waterproof.Answered on 9/18/2013 by Grace Deehl from Miami, FL
Q:I am currently using fresh farmacy in the morning and Dark angels at night. And I'm breaking out in little bumps along my cheeks, is this because im over washing my skin or are these two products not compatible with each other?Asked on 9/5/2013 by Minime
A:With our Dark Angels, it is an intense but effective for exfoliating the skin. Fresh Farmacy is a much more gentle cleanser which is ideal for those experiencing redness, irritation or blemishes.
Sometimes, with a new facial regiment, it can cause your skin to get worse before it gets better. The vitamins and nutrients in the ingredients work to get rid of any bad bacteria in the your skin which may cause you to break out a little. If you are still experiencing problems after a couple of weeks, I would recommend using our Dark Angels only once or twice a week instead or perhaps using one at a time to see what your skin is reacting to.Answered on 11/28/2013 by Anonymous
A:I think it might be just skin irritation from either one of these products( or other products you may be using). Try using them one at a time and see what happens. Hope this helps!Answered on 9/22/2013 by akannabeth from SoCal
Q:How often should I be using Fresh Farmacy ? I've been using it as my day and night cleanser and on the 2nd day I got very irritated skin.Asked on 8/4/2013 by Eva from Mesa, AZ
A:Fresh Farmacy is definitely gentle enough to use twice a day, every day. However, when you switch to a new facial cleanser, it can take your face about three weeks to complete it's turnaround cycle and get used to a new formula, so your irritation might be related to this transition.Answered on 10/4/2013 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
Q:If used on a daily basis, about how long will one bar last?Asked on 6/17/2013 by Heather from Colorado
A:This varies from person to person, but as long as it's stored in a cool dry area out of direct sunlight, your bar should last a few months with regular use!Answered on 10/3/2013 by Brandy from LUSH
A:It depends on how much you buy of it, as well as how many times a day you wash your face. When I buy Fresh Farmacy I generally buy around $5 worth and it lasts about 6 weeks (I only wash my face once a day). Remember to keep it in a dry place when you aren't using it!Answered on 7/5/2013 by Katie from USA
Q:Is it safe to use on a new tattoo?Asked on 6/12/2013 by lexcee from New York, NY
A:We definitely recommend getting in touch with your tattoo artist to see what is best, as he or she will know what the best choice is for your particular needs. We list all of the ingredients of each product on our website, as well as in stores so feel free to take the listings of the ingredients to your tattoo artist.Answered on 10/2/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
Q:What moisturiser works best with this cleanser?Asked on 4/23/2013 by aforaustin from Riverside, CA
A:The moisturizer you choose really depends on the results that you are wishing to achieve so this can definitely vary from person to person. Fresh Farmacy is one of our more gentle cleansers that also helps for acne-prone skin so moisturizers that would have similar properties would be Celestial, Vanishing Cream, and Imperialis.Answered on 9/20/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
Q:Is it better to use this cleaner at night or in the morning?Asked on 4/6/2013 by Carlitos from Atlanta, ga
A:It doesn't matter whether you use Fresh Farmacy in the morning or the evening. Really it is up to personal preference, as it will work its magic any time of day!Answered on 5/10/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
Q:How would I store it in the bathroom?Asked on 2/19/2013 by Anonymous
A:This would be able to be stored like any soap. I keep mine in a dry soap dish, making sure no water can pool in the bottom of the setting. So long as it is kept dry and is allowed time to dry, it will last a while.Answered on 2/28/2013 by Anonymous
Q:Does Fresh Pharmacy clog pores, or does it unclog pores? Clogged pores are my number one skin care issue. If this product doesn't help, what product does? Thanks.Asked on 2/17/2013 by Curious Miss from United States
A:It will vary from person to person, but it shouldn't cause issues with your pores! You could also check out Angels on Bareskin or Herbalism, which are gently exfoliating and deeply cleansing and would help keep your pores clean!Answered on 8/14/2013 by Anonymous
A:It tones my pores, it feels like everything is being sucked out of them and it makes my blackheads actually extract themselves after a few days. Most of the small clogged pores on my forehead completely cleared themselves!Answered on 5/11/2013 by Sarah from Chester, NY
Q:i started using fresh farmacy about a week ago, and it has been making me break out ever since. An employee at lush said that this was because the cleanser was "drawing forward impurities" and that these were zits i would have gotten at some point down the line, and my skin would eventually clear up, and look even better than before (kind of a "it'd darkest before the dawn" type thing). Is there any truth to this? if so, how long should i expect to continue to break out before my skin clears up?Asked on 1/6/2013 by Anonymous
A:You were absolutely told the correct thing! An average skin cycle is about 3 weeks so we definitely suggest using the products for at least that length of time to determine if it is right for you. After about a month if you are still not seeing improvements, we would be happy to help you find something better suited to your needs!Answered on 8/20/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:There is truth to this. An "average" skin cycle lasts about 3 weeks. So I would give ANY new facial cleanser at least 4 weeks before really deciding.
If after a month or so you're still having issues, I'd go back into Lush and explain the situation and have a sales associate help you find something better suited for your skin.Answered on 8/9/2013 by Cay from Orlando, FL
A:Good question. Yes, the SA told me the same thing when I got this. She said the skin has to go through a 2 week transition period. In that time, you have to be dedicated and can't stop using this product, because your skin is transitioning to it. It takes two weeks, then you know. How do you know? See how your skin is acting after using this soap for two weeks. If skin is bad, stop using it after the two weeks. I use this in the AM, but I use a toner on a cotton ball after this because I think it's really gentle to really clarify my pores. In the PM, I use my clarisonic and Cetaphil. I have acne prone skin, but I keep it very tamed with these minimal products. Just stick with it, it will get better over a couple weeks! Have a good one!!Answered on 7/30/2013 by JessaT from Scottsdale, AZ
Q:Would this product melt or get harmed in anyway when traveling via airplane or when taken to an area with an extremely hot climate? If so, what could I use to protect it?Asked on 6/7/2012 by Anonymous
A:No, the Fresh Farmacy is fine in warm weather. Keep it open to dry between uses for best results.Answered on 6/12/2012 by Megan from LUSH
A:i cant imagine this product melting, but if you want to be safe i would get a lush tin and store it in the tin.Answered on 6/26/2012 by lily from co
