Friends with Benefits
How to use
Glide the massage bar directly over dry skin; it will melt upon contact. Massage or rub the oils into the skin. As massage bars are made with natural butters and oils, take care to ensure they absorb completely before putting on your best pj's. Massage bars melt at body temperature, keep yours somewhere cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight.

A chocolate massage bar, best shared

Our very friendly massage bar comes with benefits, because it's chock full of marigold (tagetes) oil. Marigold oil is used in our skin care products (Charity Pot, Fair Trade Foot Lotion), not only for its lovely fragrance, but also because it helps keep skin calm, clear and comfortable. We chose Fair Trade organic cocoa butter and cocoa absolute for this tempting bar to make it smell extra chocolate-y. The only difficulty in using our melty bar? Deciding which friend to call first to use it with! When in doubt, call them both!

Features

  • Does a body good: Use this one to moisturize your arms and legs for soft, chocolate-scented skin. Yum.
  • Smooth on sex appeal: They say chocolate is an aphrodisiac, which may be why this one is so enticing!
  • Delicious and effective: Cocoa absolute is very thick, and has a rich, dark chocolate aroma.

I am a big fan of massage bars, but this one is on the bottom of my list. Although it is great at moisturizing I can't get over the smell. The woman at LUSH gave me FWB instead of Each Peach. If you don't like heavy chocolaty scents I do not recommend this. It gives me head aches every time I use it :/ I wanted to love it

I always read reviews of a product before I buy it. When I read comments thats said Friends with Benefits smells like white chocolate I decided to get it.
When I got it I found out it smelled more like bitter cocoa. I didn't dislike the smell but I didn't necessarily want to have it all over me. So for a few days I just walked around it, sniffed it and put it away until the next time. Couple of times I rubbed it onto my hands after washing and I have to say I didn't like it much. It smelled bitter and almost musty to me. No white chocolate in sight! But I didn't feel like returning it and I kept using it little by little on my hands because I didn't want to waste it. It did make my hands smooth. After a while I decided to use it after showering, as a lotion of sorts. Amazing thing happened. It did smell a lot sweeter, like a real sweet chocolate, quite yummy. I don't know if I simply got used to the smell or maybe the outer layer of the bar was a little funky and after I used it on my hands it got better but my feelings changed completely.
I really like it now, although I do generally prefer flowery and fruity scents.
My husband seems to like it as well:)
It's very moisturizing, if you have really dry skin you'll absolutely love it. My skin isn't that dry so I use it only occasionally. You only need a little, too. I just rub it with my hands and then rub my hands on my skin.
I like to use it after shaving my legs, it makes them really smooth and seems to prevent irritation as well.
One thing about it is that it doesn't sink in very fast so you have to give it time before you put on clothes. Even though it seems greasy it doesn't make me break out. Some richer body butters I used before gave me bumps on my back and shoulders, but not this one. I give it a B+.

I really like the smell of this massage bar, and I love how soft it makes my skin. Additionally, they weren't lying when they said marigold works on scars: my arms are always scratched and scarred, but with this bar they don't look that way anymore! Unfortunately, the delicious smell doesn't stay very long. I rub this on my arms before I leave for work in the morning and the smell is nearly gone by the time I get there. All in all, though, I enjoy this and will probably buy it again.

I love this bar! It smells delicious! Not like bitter chocolate at all. In fact mine has a bit of minty-ness to it, but it smells just like white chocolate. It takes a little bit of time to melt in your hand, and it can be a little thick going on, but I switched to putting a swipe on, then rubbing it in with my hands. Talk about massage! This bar has kept my shoulders and back clear of any ugly blemishes, and has calmed my eczema. no more red spots! Thanks lush!

this smells just like therapy, which is already one of the least popular massage bars bc no one wants to smell like bitter dark chocolate. i love the idea of this bar but it needs to have a different scent besides bitter cocoa butter. the organic cocoa butter ruined the scent of charity pot too, it was one of my favorite lotions when it had that sweet floral scent but after the cocoa butter became organic the scent went awry. please keep trying to make products that have the good cocoa butter but not that bitter scent please!

                      • Q:

I bought one of those in November-December 2011. I used it a lot when it was colder and I had dry skin but haven't used it so much recently. However, I noticed recently when I opened it up that there was this weird white residue on it. I'm pretty sure it isn't mold, since it didn't smell (it just slightly dulled the normal smell of the massage bar) and didn't flake off. But I'm wondering if the bar is still safe to use. I tried it and it seems to be fine, but does anyone else have any experience with this and know what to do? I also spotted this on my pieces of the Tiny Hands massage bar.

                          A:

Hi Rose! The white layer you're seeing is called cocoa butter "bloom". It's basically the fats in the cocoa butter rising to the surface of the bar which can happen if the bar melts and then cools again. It's very normal for this to occur, and it definitely doesn't mean there's anything wrong- it's absolutely safe to use. The white should melt back into the bar with regular use, but not to worry- it's all good!
