I recieved this as a sample with one of my online orders(I don't have a Lush near me. ]: ) and decided to try it out. I wasn't crazy about the smell, but it was a very familiar scent to me. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. My hair is VERY dry/frizzy, curly, and thick. Even people with thick hair tell me I have thick hair. When I used this product, I just felt like it wasn't really cleaning my hair. My hair is so thick, I felt like the product wasn't reaching my scalp. Granted, I didn't watch the "how to use" video until a couple minutes ago. I think this would be a good product for people with normal hair. The one thing I really liked about this product is how long it lasted me. I have a lot of hair and that sample last over a week. I think I might try a different solid shampoo instead.

I use this on my 2-year-old and has worked wonders on her hair. It is supersoft and shiny, with more golds and reds showing in it. Her hair is pretty long so I also use some Veganese in it once a week to help with tangles. The smell is amazing and lasts until her next bath, I really prefer this over Trichomania. Definitely going to keep using this in her hair!

I ordered Gentle Lentil because I dye my hair and the lovely Lush SAs and I were at a loss as for which solid shampoo would be the best fit. I am extremely picky when it comes to product scents. I love Seanik, Squeaky Green, and Karma Komba, but I was afraid that they would strip my hair color (Seanik definitely does :'[ ). So I read the reviews and decided to give GL a try.

I'm still having very mixed thoughts. The first time I used it, I had to lather, rinse, repeat, which is unusual for me. But the second lather was MUCH better than the first, my hair felt soft and clean, and Retread was able to cover up the smell (it reminds me of those chocolate scented pencils... I don't get any vanilla at all). I am 22 and cry every. single. time. I brush my mid-back length, wavy hair after washing and conditioning it. With GL and Retread, I was able to get the comb through with ZERO tangles!
The second time I used it, I followed up with American Cream (my usual routine is Seanik/AC). My hair was slightly harder to comb when I got done, but not nearly as bad as it could have been. When it dried, my hair was so shiny that I had to ask my dad if it looked greasy. My natural color is red, I dye it a darker red, and red hair doesn't really get shiny in my experience. The second day after washing, it felt heavy and like there was product buildup (I don't use products often). I think GL/Retread is a better combination than GL/AC, and will probably rotate it with my other shampoos so I can still use my beloved AC. So far I haven't noticed my hair fading any faster than normal.
I'm not sure if I'll buy this again, but I sliced up my bar, so I still have a lot to get through. We'll see if things improve by the time it runs out. I might have my sister try it because she has very course, very curly hair that she can NEVER brush (even freshly washed), and I think that this would be really moisturizing for her.

I just received my Gentle Lentil that I ordered from the Retro section online and I really like it :)

The vanilla scent is pretty and subtle and the shampoo itself cleans really well. It lathers nicely and leaves my hair soft, shiny, and clean. Perfect!

I love this Shampoo so much. I am on a vanilla kick right now, so the smell doesnt get much better than this, and paired with the American Cream conditioner... it is heavenly. This product cleans well, and leaves my hair really soft and easy to work with. I cut a piece of it for my friend to take home and try and she said that it left kind of a weird residue in her hair, but I have never felt that when I use it.. So I guess everyone is different. For me at least, it works very well and smells amazing =)

Although i got this as a sample i had already been using the New solid shampoo bar from lush. which i love. This however i'm not a fan of only because i have thick hair, and no problems with oil. and i did not like the scent either or rather it has a scent when dry but nothing noticeable to me on my hair. it left my hair very dry and and it did not later well and fell apart as i tried to rub it into my hair/hands. I would recomend this to someone with fine hair, or oily hair.

I received this as a sample when my boyfriend got me a gift for our 2 year anniversary I've never used solid shampoo before and I must say, for my first time using it... I AM IN LOVE WITH IT. My favorite scent is vanilla, too! It lathered better than I thought it would, and using the american cream conditioner along with it just left my hair smelling like a treat and feeling soft.

I have decent thickness hair but not a lot of it so it tangles easily and it's greasy at the roots and dry at the ends. I've been looking for a replacement hair system since Aussie no longer makes "Cleanse and Mend". The first time I used the Lentil hair soap, it cleaned my hair great, it was just kinda drying and made it pretty much impossible to get a brush through my hair. I did use conditioner the 2nd time I washed my hair, and my hair is perfect now.

I ordered this along with Reincarnate after looking at this for a while on the site. and just like I said with Reincarnate, I'm so happy that I did!! this shampoo is really creamy and amazing. It's gentle, it smells wonderful, it moisturizes my scalp and hair, leaves my hair manageable and smooth..it's right up there with Reincarnate, which I alternate this with.

again, I may have to cheat on Godiva with this one as well, and make it a staple :D

(and again, if you cut the bar into smaller pieces, it's easier to handle and lasts longer)

This is my favorite Lush Shampoo. It cleans my hair well with out giving me an itchy scalp, making me a frizz ball or drying my hair. I have long, very fine hair that really suffers in the winter, but this works well for me. Some of the other shampoos dry my hair, weigh it down because it's too rich, or make my scalp itchy, but not this! Did I mention it smells great, too? Like Butterball bath bomb. I also like New a lot. BTW, it's a great value. One bar lasts me two months. Just don't keep it in the shower when you aren't using it!

I tried my hardest to love this shampoo. First of all, the smell is amazing. I can't help but smell it every time I go into the bathroom. And it lathers beautifully. I bought it to use on myself and my son. We both have very fine hair- but a lot of it. We also have very sensitive scalps, so it's hard to find a shampoo that doesn't give us "itchy spots". For some reason, when I use this shampoo, it makes my hair feel very waxy. I can barely run a brush through it, and it just feels very stiff and gross. Now, when I use it on my son, it makes his hair very soft and shiny, and it shapes his adorable little blonde curls perfectly. And best of all, it doesn't make him itchy. I'll keep buying it for him. Also, I bought the bar back in October. I wash my son's hair twice a week. I still have half of the bar left. But I cut it up into pieces so it doesn't get washed away. I would recommend anyone to try it. It didn't work well for me, but I think it was worth trying.

This product smells wonderful, and gives you a great rich lather. It's very softening on the hair. I love how creamy the lather is on my hair, it feels great. The moisture for my hair isn't much of a priority so I pay not much attention to that, but the lather and feel is great. I did go through the product very quickly though, maybe I was lathering too much?

This shampoo smelled absolutely amazing, but sadly that is the most positive thing I can say about it. Gentle Lentil did not agree with my hair AT ALL (I have fine, long, wavy hair). After washing, my hair felt heavy and almost sticky, and while blowdrying I could hardly get a brush through it. Definitely will not be using again.

I'm a Lush employee (Water Tower Place!), so I've tried nearly all of our haircare...

This shampoo is crazy good. I was worried that it would be fairly drying, since most of the shampoo bars are not intended for hair like mine (thick, wavy, a bit damaged), but I was so wrong. It actually brought my curls out and made them really soft and bouncy.

I have Wavy/Curly hair that is dry and prone to frizz. That being said this bar replaced my shampoo and conditioner without any fuss, its a little more difficult to brush my hair after a shower without the conditioner but no new frizz or other unplesant surprises. Smells sweet, hard to describe the scent though maybe vanilla mixed with orchids, very soft scent.

This is my first LUSH review (yay!) and I just wanted to share how absolutely amazing this little shampoo smells. I got it as a sample with an order and I'm in love. I can't exactly describe the scent except to say that it's so so good and I can't stop smelling my hair now. So full of happy.

I've only washed my hair with it a few times, but it's made my curls bouncier and more defined and when coupled with Jungle I have such soft, sweet/subtle smelling hair. I used to throw my hair back in a ponytail but after using LUSH, I wear it down and free and feel so gorgeous. And like I said, I can't stop smelling my hair!

I can't recommend Gentle Lentil enough.

This stuff smells so good. It took me a while to figure it out but, to me at least, it smells like warm vanilla and sugar. Maybe that'd just how lentils smell but that's the scent that kept this chunk of soap to my nose instead of to my head. It lathered really nicely- not too much to the extent it would make me uncomfortable with the amount of chemicals (though I was saddened to see it contains sodium lauryl sulfate), but still enough that it was easy to spread and appeared to be doing its job. And its job it did. Almost too well. I have dry hair, thanks to unfavorable genetics which has only been added to with years of chemical and heat abuse. My hair literally squeaked when I was washing it out, a sign there were no more oils. It doesn't seem dry exactly, just not smooth and silky. I think my hair just needs some time to adjust to a new product. Overall, it's great, definitely far from being a disappointment. I was torn between this and Trichomania (which I got as a sample but have yet to use) and this stuff smells way better!

The first time I used this I had really long hair, so I found it hard to get it all lathered up the way I wanted. One six-inch haircut later, I really think this is a great shampoo! With two or three swipes, it lathers up nicely. This is the first Lush hair product I've used. I wouldn't say I'm completely converted to solid shampoos now, but this seems to be a nice product so far. I hope it lasts as long as solid shampoo are rumored to last; that would be a nice bonus to this product.

The smell is lovely. Very light, somewhat sweet, and it lasts all day on my hair.

I haven't noticed any changes as to whether my hair is less tangly or easier to take care of, but I have seen an increase in shine and healthiness. Now, I'm not saying that my hair went from rope-dullness to diamond-shine, but the shine is there. And I don't think I can directly attribute the softness of my hair with this shampoo (because I always put on conditioner after I use it), but it probably has something to do with it too.

In summary, great product after I got used to it. Would buy again.

Oh, one other thing though - it's sort of awkward to take care of. Obviously since it's a rectangle it doesn't fit in a shampoo tin, so I'm left wondering how to store it. Haven't come up with any bright ideas yet!

Wow.. I got it as a sample and I already ordered 3 full size bars of shampoo. I recieved so many compliments when I used the sample. One person said it look like I had my hair professionally done but I just used the shampoo at night with no conditioner and straightned it out the next day. It does look a lot healthier and less dry because I have longer hair that is pretty dry especially at the bottom. You will be surprised. I love it and Im sticking to it. I tried the Godiva and I didnt like it as much as this one.
