Give Yourself a Helping Hand...or Two
There are more good reasons to take good care of your hands than there are fingers. We overwork them and expose them to the elements but we rarely pay any attention to take care of them. Hands can tell you (and others) many things - how you lead your life, how well you take care of your skin, and even how old you are.
The skin on your hands is actually very delicate and thin and has few oil glands which leads to dryness. Weather, exposure to sun and cold, detergents, chemicals and gardening in the dirt all cause further damage too. Hands and nails need to be nourished, moisturized and treated with care. It's not just about moisturizing your hands daily; you should protect your hands whenever you can too. Wear gloves when you're out gardening and in the cold winter weather.
In summer, apply sun protection to your hands as often as you do your face. Whenever you can, don't forget to take a few minutes to give yourself a hand massage. Using a massage bar, Tiny Hands, or your hand lotion, work it across your palms, fingers and wrists focusing on your pressure points. It's a perfect little escape from the stresses of the world, if only for a moment.
