This is a great hand cream for really dry skin. I work in a hospital and wash my hands quite frequently. I noticed a difference in my skin with the very first use. The smell isn't bad it's just not great. The effectiveness of the product outweighs the smell.

This is actually a great hand moisturizer. I have really, really dry skin to begin with, and then I am constantly washing my hands with cheap office soap that strips my skin of the tiny bit of oil it naturally produces. Add to that winter weather and we have a problem. I have searched years for an effective product and have shelled out quite a bit of money. I was not particularly impressed with the results after the first use, but a few days later my dry, chapped hands feel luxuriously soft! Anyone that thinks it is greasy just needs to use less. Unfortunately I just cannot deal with the smell. It is awful. The sales lady claimed it was the chamomile, but the Marilyn doesn't bother me and it doesn't smell like chamomile at all. I don't know what the odor is. I'm going to try to see if the Lovely Jubblies might work as a hand cream, otherwise I will just have to suck it up. The unpleasant smell doesn't linger TOO long and it's not worth going back to chapped hands.

This has saved my winter hands! Before using this, I had dry, chapped, cracked, bleeding (awful, I know) hands during the winter. It was painful and sad, but no amount of drugstore or super fancy hand creams helped, so I had pretty much accepted that my hands would be in pain throughout the dry and freezing midwestern winter. But I stopped into the Upper West Side Lush while visiting NYC and the awesome salesgirl (wish I remembered her name) convinced me to try this. I am SO GLAD I did. Within a day my hands were starting to heal and no longer in pain, and in two days they were back to normal. Amaaazing. You need a good five minutes to let it absorb into your skin, and I don't find the smell annoying like other reviewers (the scent is definitely a little earthy but I don't mind, especially once you get used to it), and it lasts all day. I use it in the morning and before I go to bed. I also use Lemony Flutter on my cuticles (and knuckles, too, when they're really dry), which really helps on those 5-degree days. Thank you, Lush, and the amazing UWS salesgirl, for saving my hands!

I have had problems with very, very dry hands. In Winter, my hands are red and chapped. They have been so dry that the skin on the tips on my fingers and cuticles would split and bleed.

That was true until I found this regime. Handy Gurugu hand cream after using Ocean Salt Scrub.

Incredible difference for the better!

I find the herbal smell isn't so bad if you only use a little bit. That's all you need anyway.

I bought this product for myself after trying it at my local LUSH retail store.

I am a huge fan of Helping Hands, but the store associate recommended this as an even more powerful moisturizer for my extreme dry skin. While I'm not in love with the scent, I agree that this moisturizer is thicker and seems to last a bit longer.I use it at night and I wake up in the morning with soft hands that are perfect -- not greasy or dry. I also use the lemony cuticle cream with this product and sometimes the smells conflict with each other but after everything calms down it's fine. My only complaint is that this seems to be a bit more tacky/sticky than Helping Hands for the first half hour or so after I apply it. I am sticking with Helping Hands in the daytime and using Handy G at night because of this issue.

I just recently got this sample from a Lush store. I will definitely be purchasing it soon! The smell isn't the best but is totally worth it for the great quality. I have always had a problem with dry legs during the winter. I have only used this lotion a couple times on my legs and already notice a difference in my skin. Would recommend!

My hands were dry, itchy, chapped, cracked and rough from the combination of constant hand-washing (I'm a nurse), cold winter weather and dry heat. As soon as I received Handy Gurugu in the mail I put in on my hands and immediately they felt relieved. This stuff is just the right consistency and absorbs into the skin quickly without making hands greasy and slippery. Even after you've hand your hands in water the products still remains on the hands, like it's "protecting" them. An added bonus that I've noticed, is it works wonders on the cuticles and nails too! Also, it smells great; I constantly sniff the backs of my hands after I put it on. I plan on purchasing an extra one to keep in my locker at work so I don't run the risk of forgetting the one I have and being without it! Highly recommend!

I'm on a very tight budget, and I don't often splurge on non-essentials. That said, I consider this hand cream essential to my well-being, particularly in the winter months. I have dry, sensitive skin, and during the winter it gets so parched that it's actively painful. My hands are the worst - my cuticles peel, crack, and bleed. Everything I tried only provided temporary relief, until a SA at the Boston store convinced me to try Handy Gurugu.

It provided relief right away, and healed my hands within a week of use. Now I use it as a deep conditioning treatment at bedtime on my cuticles and elbows.

I cannot get over how amazing this cream is. It's saved my hands, and a single pot of it has lasted me a year. That's with daily use during the colder months, occasional use in the summer. The smell is light and herbal - I don't mind it at all and it fades as it absorbs - though I suppose it's a matter of personal preference. At any rate, even if I found it unpleasant, I would tolerate ANYTHING for the relief that this cream provides.

It's probably my favorite LUSH product and that's saying a lot.

I was given Gurugu as a sample by my local Lush ladies and I must say it is by far my favorite!! I absolutely love the smell. I also have Helping Hands and that I don't care for the smell. But this is just heavenly.

I generally use this for it's deep moisturizing when I go to bed. I fall asleep to sweet scents and wake up with soft skin! I also use it at work. It is a tad greasy, but I find that as long as you are not using globs at a time, the greasiness is really not that bad and within a few minutes you are able to grab pens and not have them slip out of grip. :)

And as long as you are not allergic to any of the nuts in them, you are going to be happy to have Gurugu!

I adore this product! I use it on my hands and legs after I shower and it makes my skin super soft, and great smelling! The smell is both herbal and floral (but not overpowering). The smell takes a little getting used to, but once you are used to it.. you can't stop using it!! I get extremely dry hands during the winter, and my legs are dry year round, but this cream does a great job of keeping me soft and smooth all year long! Keep in mind, a little goes a long way, and that you can always add more if needed. The texture of the cream itself is light and airy, but thick enough for it to be a true hand cream!

I had psoriasis for YEARS and finally gave up treating it the conventional way. I discovered this by accident in California and started ordering it online and now they have stores everwhere (locally for me too) so I'm in there every chance I get. I highly recommend the BIG BLUE bath bomb too - it's like you spent the day in a spa.

I have a friend who is a high school math teacher. Every time we go to Las Vegas I drag him into the LUSH store. He wasn't too thrilled about this stuff initially because the staff were a bit too generous with the sample. He rubbed it into his hands and his forearms, and it still didn't completely absorb into his skin. His hands and forearms were greasy for the rest of the day. Needless to say he wasn't a fan. This last time we were in Las Vegas, his hands were super dry and cracked (his skin was actually broken) from handling papers and using hand sanitizers all day long, so I dragged him in again. We talked to the LUSH staff, and they gave him an in-store manicure using Lemony Flutter, Ocean Salt, and Handy Gurugu (a reasonable amount this time). This time he actually bought it because it helped his hands out so much. His hands are no longer dry or cracked, which he likes.

My story is far less amazing. My hands are dry, but not to the point of cracking or anything; just mild discomfort. A tiny bit of this stuff and my hands feel normal. I don't feel like I've put anything on at all. It absorbs quickly and keeps your hands nice and moisturized for hours. It's a great buy; the 3.5 oz container will probably last me all year, and now I won't need any of other hand lotions.

I received a sample of this at the store and my husband and I absolutely love it!! Its got the best consistency not too thick or sticky but its not gone in 3.5 seconds either! Im an esthetician and work at a high end spa full of creams and lotions but I will be buying this over any of those! I've been using it not only on my hands but my body as well, my legs get soo dry and after using this sample just a couple times you would never know it! Its an amazing follow up to the volcano foot mask too just slather it on your feet and ankles and throw on some thick socks before bed....Heaven!
This has definitely replaced all my other favorite body creams/butters.

This is the only cream that soothes the severe seasonal dryness that strike my tummy, sides of my breasts and nipple area.

If it weren't for this product, I'd scratch myself raw during the drier months, which would leave scarring (something that occurred in one spot prior to purchasing "Handy Gurugu").

What's more, it smells beautiful. I never wear perfume, but I'm always asked what brand I use. Men also LOVE the smell: soft, gentle, not at all over-powering as many alcohol-based perfumes tend to be.

I always place some of it behind my neck and a little behind my ears. Nothing makes me more happy than sitting on the couch with my love, him nuzzling against my neck and breathing in deeply.

For this alone would I buy "Handy Gurugu".

I work in a hospital and wash my hands many times a day, and this stuff actually helps keep my hands moisturized, and I love that it actually beads water, so my hands aren't yucky and chapped at the end of the day. It smells a little different, but it's light, and great before bed.

This was given to me as a sample from a SA at Lush. Smelling it was painful for me - my mother used to wear a perfume in the seventies that is a dead ringer for this hand lotion. I am told it used to drive the boys wild, but it is awful to my nose.

Handy Gurugu made me love it, even though I didn't want to. I am a professional nanny to an infant, so there's a ton of hand washing and antibacterial gel abusing my hands. In the winter, my skin cracks and stings when a breeze goes over it. I've cried over my hands before. This lotion healed my poor hands in three nights.

Use it before sleep if you dislike the scent. Your hands and feet will love you for it, I promise. I ran out of my sample but will be purchasing promptly.

There are SO MANY things I love about this hand cream. During the winter months especially, my eczema gets out of control and my hands appear dry, cracked, and often bleed. This is the first winter in a long time that my hands are picture perfect.

I love Handy Gurugu because of its sheer luxury. It's a very rich cream that goes on easy, but the best part is this - it's not greasy. At all. All you feel is its soft moisturizing qualities. And believe me, it makes your skin SOFT! I also enjoy putting it on my elbows and kneecaps, which also tend to get dry. I wouldn't recommend using it as a body cream, though. I've tried it and it feels weird. It's so rich, its definitely for areas in need of emergency, like dry hands.

The smell might be off putting for some people, but it's definitely not bad. It's very earthly, herbal, and warming. Personally, I love it, especially right before bed! A little goes a long way, too. If you've got hand issues, this one's for you.

I put this on my hands, and it felt tacky. It was hard to spread. It takes a while to absorb, and it makes my hands feel sticky and gross on the palms. The smell is horrible, too. It smells like an old lady who smokes. It doesn't moisturize well enough to keep using. I'm glad I only got a sample.
