Q:I have back acne, does this product work on body acne?Asked on 5/27/2014 by keke from alexandria, va
A:Hi Keke!! I noticed it controlled my pimples, and reduced the ones I had on my face during mother nature month... :0) been using the cleanser for 2 weeks now, and noticed it is gradually reducing my post acne marks. I know this doesn't answer your concern, but I hope it helped a little... & I think you should try herbalism!! Good luck!! :0)Answered on 6/9/2014 by The smeller from Texas
Q:How many times per week should I use this product? Can I use it every other day, so it wouldn't dry my skin out too much ?Asked on 4/14/2014 by Gz from Manhattan, NY
A:I used it everyday. It won't dry your skin out because it has enough natural oils in it.

A:Our Herbalism cleanser can be uses as often or as sparingly as works for your skin! It is gentle enough to use daily, but I recommend doing whatever works for you!Answered on 4/15/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT
A:I use it everyday, and it shouldn't dry out your skinAnswered on 4/14/2014 by Anonymous
A:Herbalism is a very gentle exfoliant so it should not dry out your skin. It's safe to use once or twice a day!
-MaggieAnswered on 4/14/2014 by Anonymous
A:I have never experienced dryness with this cleanser. I used it twice a day
every day. The clays it contains can be slightly drying if you have dry
skin (I have oily combination skin, which this cleanser is recommended for)
but its nothing a good moisturizer can't fix. The herbs are also very
soothing, so it won't irritate your skin at all. In fact, I find my skin
to be smoother and more evenly toned immediately after using this product.
Best of luck!Answered on 4/14/2014 by Anonymous
Q:How long does it last?
I know the cleanser is best used fresh, but how long til it is "expired"? I want to know because I want to get it, but it seems you can only get 8.8 oz online, not the smaller amount anymore, and I don't want it to go bad before I finish it.Asked on 3/13/2014 by Bea
A:Our fresh cleaners, such as Herbalism have a shelf life of 3 months.Answered on 3/22/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT
Q:Can I use this with my clarisonic?Asked on 2/19/2014 by miranda from Florida
A:We would not recommend using Herbalism with any type of cleansing device as it has pieces of almonds and rice bran that might clog the device.Answered on 3/21/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:The Clarisonic in itself is harsh enough on skin so I do not suggest you to double that with this really harsh paste. Use your Clarisonic with something with moisture and more importantly, something lighter. Or you will completetly destroy the brush on your Clarisonic.Answered on 3/10/2014 by CiliaVictoria from Seattle, WA
Q:Does anyone happen to know if this cleanser is non-comedogenic?Asked on 1/27/2014 by asdfghjkl
A:Non-comedogenic is a term that many cosmetic companies use to describe skincare products that don't use ingredients that will clog the pores, and generally cater these products to those with acne-prone skin. Since there are no regulations or specifications as to what is considered non-comedogenic, any company with any product is welcome to claim the title. Herbalism doesn't include ingredients that will clog the pores, and in fact it does just the opposite! With a kaolin clay base, Herbalism will help to clean the pores by lifting out dirt and debris to reveal clear, healthy skin.Answered on 3/22/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
Q:is this product good for blackheads?Asked on 1/19/2014 by lexi.
A:I found that this product really helps at unclogging pores! Another good one to try in our Mask of Magnaminty!Answered on 3/21/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT
A:I feel your pain -- I have deeply-rooted blackheads on my nose that no
amount of pore strips or scrubs can get rid of. While I loved how soft my
skin felt after using Herbalism, it did not, unfortunately, get rid of my
blackheads. I also wasn't a fan of the fact that the product comes in such
a big tub but expires relatively quickly (compared to the small amount
you're supposed to use per wash). Usually I would simply recommend getting
the smaller size tub, but the unit price difference can be steep sometimes.
The ingredients in it are great, with the exception of the perfume
additives -- I have the kind of oily, acne-prone skin that's also
sensitive. I realized recently that I had to be better about purchasing
skincare products that ruthlessly punish my skin and instead go for gentler
products that aim to balance my skin's pH. Talc and perfume are the two
skincare ingredients I try to avoid now. Altogether, though, if you're
looking for a scrub gentle enough to use everyday, Herbalism is your go-to
product (I would recommend adding in pore strips, too, - Biore might be too
harsh, I've looked into Boscia and DIY strips as well - if you're looking
for something to really help with blackheads specifically).Answered on 1/19/2014 by Anonymous
A:my experience so far is that herbalism is good for overall skin health. it seems to brighten my skin! for blackheads I recommend let the good times roll, dark angels, and ocean salt. those are in gentle-to-strong order. good luck! (good lush!)Answered on 1/29/2014 by Anonymous
Q:has anyone used lush cleansers on the body? I have a few clogged pores on my chest and want to get rid of them!Asked on 1/15/2014 by ry from chicago
A:Lots of our customers use our facial cleansers on troubled areas of their bodies with good results. Because the face is one of the most sensitive areas on the body, anything specifically designed for it will be gentle enough for areas like the chest, neck, and back, too.Answered on 3/8/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:I use the cleansers on my face and body, because i do occasionally get clogged pores on my chest as well and my husband on his back. They work very well and i definitely recommend trying it if you haven't already although you may tend to go through them faster.Answered on 1/25/2014 by foxyroxy336 from Colorado Springs, Co
Q:I currently have skin that has a lot of zits on it, and I was wondering if this cleanser gets rid of zits/bumps/acne?
If it doesn't, could you point me in the right direction and suggest a LUSH cleanser that does?
Thanks!Asked on 12/8/2013 by Kingsley
A:Herbalism is fantastic for troubled skin, as it contains loads of antibacterial ingredients like rosemary, rice vinegar, and nettle. In addition, it contains ground almonds to provide gentle exfoliation. It works wonders on acne-prone skin!Answered on 1/31/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct

Another cleanser that really works for me is 'let the

Of acne this cleanser would be good to try!

Q:I have combination skin and my face rarely breaks out. I've been wanting to try this cleanser but I'm seeing it's mostly for only skin with serious breakouts. Is this a bad cleanser for my mostly clear skin?Asked on 12/2/2013 by Lindsey the Lush Lover from Columbus, MS
A:It wouldn't be a bad cleanser if you would like to keep your skin nice and clean from debris! Our products are good with all different types of skin so you can definitely use this product if you so choose.
If you are looking for another product more suited for combination skin, I would suggest that you try our Coalface cleanser bar. Inspired by the complexion bar in ‘Annie Hall’, we created Coal Face for combination to oily faces.Answered on 12/5/2013 by Anonymous
A:I have combination skin and use this cleanser daily. I was experiencing
mild breakouts when I decided to try Herbalism - they weren't bad and they
were easily covered by makeup, but I found them annoying. Herbalism has
cleared them up completely, plus it keeps my skin exfoliated. I'm not
certain that it has necessarily reduced the oiliness in my T-zone, but it
hasn't made it worse, and it doesn't dry out the dryer parts of my face
like my cheeks. I highly recommend the cleanser, but, if you're on the
fence, you might try the smaller size - it will last at least a month and
give you a good idea of whether to purchase the full size. Good luck! :)Answered on 12/3/2013 by Anonymous
A:No I would honestly say it's for all skin types. I have sensitive, oily and dry skin and I occasionally get a few blemishes. This cleanser is amazing and works perfectly for me. I used to have really bad breakouts in high school which left me with dark spots and this cleanser helped lighten them and also balance out my skin. It took about a week to see results and for my skin to get used to such a different cleanser but it is definitely my holy grail now. Hope this helps!

Q:Is Herbalism good for combination skin?Asked on 11/3/2013 by BrendaBabyface
A:Herbalism can be used for those who have combination skin! The antibacterial blend of rosemary, nettle and chamomile help clear up problematic skin while ground rice bran acts as an effective exfoliant, while kaolin clay deep cleanses pores.Answered on 11/17/2013 by Anonymous
A:Yes, definitely! I am oily around my nose, forehead and eyelids but dry under my eyes, around my lips and on my checks and it has done miracles for my skin! So soft and I never have breakouts. I will forever use lush face products and herbalism is my holy grail!

Q:This cleanser says that it has ground rice bran as an effective exfoliant, does that mean that I do not need to exfoliate my face during the week? Would it be too harsh to exfoliate separately?Asked on 9/28/2013 by KC from Arizona
A:The ground rice bran is very gentle on the skin so many people find that they are still able to use a separate exfoliating product once or twice per week. Really, it depend on your skin so we recommend paying close attention to your particular needs!Answered on 12/12/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:It doesn't extremely exfoliate your face, so you can try another way to exfoliate, it just basically opens up your poresAnswered on 10/2/2013 by Belma Begzadic from Bowling Green, KY
Q:I have been using Herbalism for about a week, twice day and have noticed that my skin has broken out more since using it. I also started using Love Lettuce face mask twice a week. It's my first time using Lush products and I wanted to know if this is normal and how much longer I should try using it before I make a decision to keep using it or not.Asked on 8/31/2013 by Hannah
A:A full skin cycle is roughly three weeks so we generally recommend using new products for at least that amount of time before making any decisions. Especially for acne-prone skin, breakouts tend to get a little bit worse before they get better with new products simply because the skin is purging itself of impurities to reveal clearer, healthier skin!Answered on 10/28/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:It's clear that these two particular products aren't your perfect match. That's ok, everyone's skin is different, but don't lose faith! Go into a store and have a skincare consultation. They will give you samples and if those work you can go back and get the full size. I have loved LUSH forever and can tell you that it is AMAZING what they make. Best of luck!Answered on 9/26/2013 by Glitterella from The Great Northwest
Q:What's the difference between Herbalism and Dark Angels cleansers? They seem pretty similar...Asked on 8/30/2013 by anon
A:Dark Angels is our most heavy duty cleanser, and the ingredients work differently than those in Herbalism in a number of ways. It contains black sugar and charcoal to exfoliate and absorb excess oil, rhassoul mud to reach deep into the pores, and avocado oil to nourish, soften, and moisturize the skin.Answered on 10/28/2013 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:For me, the primary difference between the two (other than their active
ingredients) is Herbalism uses ground almonds as the exfoliating
ingredient. It's far more gentle on sensitive skin than the sugar in Dark
Angels, which is why I prefer to use Herbalism on my face (I like to use
Dark Angels as a body scrub). Herbalism is gentle enough to use daily,
whereas Dark Angels is recommended for once or twice a week. As far as its
use on acne-prone skin, that will most likely be determined by your own
skin. While I love Dark Angels, I've had far more luck reducing my acne
using Herbalism, but other people have had the opposite experience.
Experimenting is really the best way to find out what will work for you.Answered on 8/30/2013 by Anonymous
A:I purchased both and Herbalism is more of a daily cleanser while dark angels I use every other night. Personally I feel as if dark angels provides a deeper overall exfoliating cleanse while herbalism is less harsh and more of a daily face wash.Answered on 8/30/2013 by Anonymous
Q:How often can I use this product in one day without it drying out my face and making it less likely for it to help with acne? My face get's oily at various times during the day and I like to wash my face several times throughout the day: once when I wake up, two times randomly in the middle of the day, and a fourth time at night before I go to bed. Will this product be harmful to my skin, or worsen my breakouts if I use it four times a day?Asked on 8/24/2013 by John
A:While Herbalism specifically wont be drying to the skin, you will likely find that any cleanser will be drying if you are using it four times per day. Instead, we would suggest choosing an effective cleanser that will help control oil production throughout the day so you only need to cleanse twice. Herbalism, having a clay base, should definitely do the trick for you!Answered on 10/9/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:It didn't dry my face out at all have you tried it yet because i actually thought it left my skin a bit moisturized. have used several cleansers that dried my skin out way more, have you tried the pharmacy cleanser?

Q:Can you use this product as a morning and night cleanser?Asked on 8/15/2013 by Taylor from United States
A:Yes, you can use Herbalism any time!Answered on 8/21/2013 by Megan from LUSH Direct
A:es, I use this as a morning and a night cleanser and I love it. It seems to keep my combination skin happy and healthy (clears up my adult acne and doesn't dry out my skin). I do follow up with my night/day moisturizer, but I think you would do that with any cleanser. My only caveat (morning and night) is to check your nostrils for any bright green herbalism that might have snuck in... yikes.Answered on 8/19/2013 by Teresa from Palm Desert, CA

A:Yes you can, it's very gentle and while it helps with drying oil, it's not
drying to your skin. However, if you wear makeup, you may want a makeup
remover to take that off before you wash up with Herbalism. (Also, since
Herbalism helps cut oil, even if you use a cheaper oily makeup remover,
Herbalism will keep it from leaving an oily residue on your face!)Answered on 8/15/2013 by Anonymous
A:I have been using it both morning and night. The exfoliation is gentle enough for my skin ( which is sensitive, combination skin) and not too drying.Answered on 8/15/2013 by Anonymous
Q:I've purchased this product along with Grease Lightning and the Tea Tree Water toner. In what order would I use these products? And if I was using a face mask; when would I put that on? Ex. Before Herbalism or after grease lightning. That sorta thing. Thanks ;)Asked on 7/10/2013 by Cant Wait ToTryDis
A:For this particular regime, we would recommend starting with your cleanser and use the Herbalism first. If you are using the mask, apply that next! Once it's rinsed off, you would use your toner water and Grease Lightning on the spots you need it on - really it's up to you which one you want to apply first. Follow up with your moisturizer and you're all set!Answered on 9/25/2013 by Anonymous
A:Hiya! I would start by getting all make-up off your face, Herbalism doesn't remove make-up. Then I'd use Herbalism, followed by the mask (if you are doing one that night), and then toner and finally Grease Lightening. Toners are best when used after your face is cleansed, same with masks. ;) Hope that helps! Enjoy!Answered on 7/19/2013 by Peaceful Erin from Portland, OR.
Q:I recently bought 100gr of herbalism, and it will expire at 3 months. can i freeze some of the herbalism so i can use it for a longer time ? (after ill finish the amount i have i will temper the one i put in the freezer)Asked on 7/10/2013 by lia
A:We recommend using the products fresh, as this is when they are most effective! We don't recommend freezing or using the products past the use by date for safety reasons.Answered on 9/20/2013 by Megan from LUSH Direct
Q:I am currently using Herbalism as my daily cleanser for about a week now. I am noticing now that I have used it, I am breaking out around my forehead and in the cheek region. I understand the purging processs, but I am afraid this product isn't going to work for me. I have very oily skin, and struggle to control breakouts. I also feel like I am applying it wrong to my face. Help?!Asked on 6/19/2013 by Abby
A:To use Herbalism, just take a pea-sized amount from the jar, create a paste with a bit of water, and massage it into your skin! It takes at least 2 weeks for the skin to complete a full cycle, and in some cases it can be as long as a month, so that's why we recommend using a product for a few weeks in order to give it a chance to prove itself. If you still find that your face is not reacting well to this cleanser, it may be a good idea to try a different one!Answered on 10/3/2013 by Brandy from LUSH
A:I hope you kept using it! The first week was horrible for me, I broke out everywhere. But as a previous Q&A states, this is because the cleanser is drawing out the impurities. Now, 3 weeks later, my skin is clearer than ever!Answered on 7/3/2013 by Ohioian from Mentor, OH
Q:Is this product safe to use while pregnant?Asked on 5/20/2013 by Ambular from SC
A:Generally speaking, our products are totally safe to use during pregnancy, but we always recommend checking with your physician, as they will know best what is appropriate for your specific needs. We post full ingredient listings for all of our products on our website, as well as on the product and in stores for your reference!Answered on 9/27/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:Generally, cosmetic product safety tests are not performed pregnant women or fetuses, so there is likely no official ruling. I would ask your physician about the specific ingredients in lush products. I have a feeling your doctor would prefer you use the natural ingredients so this might be perfect for you.Answered on 5/21/2013 by KM from Los Angeles, CA
Q:I have tried Ocean Salt, Mask of Magmaminty, and numerous products from other stores to clear my clogged pores. Is this finally the answer??? Don't get me wrong, Ocean Salt is amazingly brightening and Mask of Magnaminty has that great tingly feel and I love them both! But still I have little clogged pore bumps on my cheeks. Help?Asked on 4/19/2013 by Curious Miss from America the Beautiful
A:If Ocean Salt and Mask of Magnaminty didn't quite do the trick for you, Herbalism is a great choice! It contains ground almonds to gently exfoliate the skin, which can help to unclog pores, along with kaolin clay to draw out impurities and rosemary and nettle, which act as natural astringents and help to reduce the bacteria that causes blackheads and breakouts!Answered on 9/24/2013 by Brandy from LUSH
