Perfectly balancing lavender cream

If you’re not sure which moisturizer is for you, we recommend starting here. Imperialis is a finely crafted moisturizer that works with most skin types to ease and soothe irritations. Made with lavender infusion to balance the skin's sebum production, the lavender encourages dry skin to produce more natural oils and discourages oily skin from overdoing it. Orange blossom water brightens up dull looking areas and leaves you smelling gorgeous all day long.

Features

  • Feel like your skin has a split personality? Balance oily T-zones with Imperialis.
  • Say goodbye to slick: Thanks to its lightweight texture, Imperialis absorbs easily upon application.
  • Refine visible pores: Tiger lily extract tightens the pores to keep dirt and oil out of blemish-prone skin.

I really like the feel and the smell of Enzymion, but I really hate spending that much on moisturizer. Imperialis has a more college-student-budget-friendly price tag, and is just about as effective. It's heavier, though, but that's an easy problem to solve: use less! This means that you spend less AND you get more uses out of it. Definitely worth the money.

I've been using this in conjunction with Herbalism and Tea Tree Water Toner, with great results. My skin has calmed down and I rarely break out anymore. I used to break out a lot, you see, so this is a major and very pleasant change. This is actually helping to minimize my pores and smooth my skin out. I think it's great.

The only thing is the smell. It smells sort of neutral, and a little bit... strange, somehow. It doesn't really matter, though, because it doesn't last long at all.

I tested this out for a few days and had the worst breakouts of my life. I have combo skin and thought this would be great - big mistake.

First, this was way too greasy. Even on my really really dry and flaky areas. It made my oily areas a oil slick.

Second, it caused my worse breakout ever. It made my face a mess. I broke out on my cheeks and that NEVER happens. Whiteheads all over the place. How embarrassing, my hubby asked what was going on with my face and he felt bad for me :( It was the only new product I used and soon as I stopped it started clearing and drying up. This was a bad choice for me.

Comments about LUSH Imperialis:

I use this product daily as part of my morning and night routine. I was given a sample of Vanishing Cream that really irritated my skin and was also a little out of my price range. So I decided to try Imperalis and I love it! It's a very light smell and doesn't affect any of the scents that I wear normally. It also helps keep my skin soft and my makeup on during the day.

I also have an allergy to Lavender when it's a processed oil. It causes me headaches, but I was very pleased to find out that the Lavender in this moisturizer didn't affect me negatively at all.

    Comments about LUSH Imperialis:

i've always used the cheapest products from the drug store, and i also used to think the stronger the alcohol in the product the better. i was very wrong.
then my boyfriend's mom introduced me to lush. she bought me a bar of facial soap, which i dont know the name of it, she bought it for me without my knowing but it has lavender and camomile in it, and its a light pink color.
i was confused because i could feel the soap cleaning and soothing my skin but i was still getting more and more pimples on my face. i was still using a cheap supposedly 'organic' moisturizer. so i went back to lush asking for a moisturizer that would go well with it. the woman at lush was extremely helpful and i got imperialis. and the toner, eau roma water, which i guess makes the moisturizer last longer through the day.
literally i've been using it for a week, and probably 10 pimples have disappeared. i have no issues with it yet. other than the fact that my boyfriend thinks i smell like his mom now!

There's no greasy feeling after it's had a few minutes to sink in, and the lavender keeps me from getting too rosy-cheeked despite the wind and snow! One tip: as with all other LUSH moisturizers, you need *very* little to do up your face! I dot my finger in the top of the jar and then dot my forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks -- and then add a tiny bit more if I need it once I've rubbed that in. It keeps your product lasting longer and will make sure you don't end up putting too much on.

I LOVE THIS MOISTURIZER. I switched from a name brand all natural moisturizer that costs about $60 per jar and I will never go back. I've been using Imperialis for about a month with very noticeable results. I typically never leave the house without at least some mineral powder foundation on, even if it's just a little to even out my skin tone. Since I've been using Imperialis, I don't need it. I've actually gone to work with no foundation, only mascara and blush and that has never happened in my life. I'm a convert!

            Comments about LUSH Imperialis:

I've been looking for all-natural face moisturizer for awhile now. I'd been using an all-natural line last year, that at first I really liked, but the more I used it I realized that it wasn't always sinking into my skin (I live in South Florida - hot and humid are daily occurences).

So I finally decided to try out Lush after hearing so many good things. The hype isn't false! At first I wasn't sure about the smell of the product, but now it smells really great to me.

You only need a little bit, but it goes along way (unless your skin is feeling dry, then you can tell that it sinks in sooo quickly). I can tell it's going into my skin and not staying on top of it, and I don't feel unnaturally slick when I go outside.

I've also noticed that my skin tone has evened out some -- the last few months of using my old moisturizer, I was noticing blotchy red areas on my cheeks. This has stopped after using Imperialis. My face is still occasionally dry (guess I no longer have the oilier skin I did as a teenager) but overall I am very impressed.

I will definitely be a repeat customer -- even my fiance says it feels good on his skin.

                  Comments about LUSH Imperialis:

I have mildly acne-prone skin- not everything will break me out, but once in awhile the wrong product will. This is one of those wrong products. Imperialis does deliver as it promises: it moisturizes dry patches and tames oily areas, both of which I have on my face. Other than that, there is nothing good about it. I can get past the smell of any product as long as it does its job, but certainly not when it doesn't! This was the only product I've changed in my facial routine so I know it had to be the culprit, and my face was a mess. It's been a few weeks now since I've stopped using it and I'm still working on getting my face cleared up. I love LUSH as a whole, but this was a huge fail for me.

So, I am a long time Lush-lush, and this is the first product I've been moved to write a review about. I have always had a hard time with my skin; breakouts, acne scars, pits and redness. I purchased the Imperialis when I ran out of some other high-cost moisturizer, and within a few days noticed my skin felt softer, smoother and healthier, and my skin tone is more even. It is a little on the oily side, but that might be just my skin getting used to the new product and not the moisturizer itself. I usually spritz my face with Tea Tree Water toner water before application, which allows me to use less.

                      Comments about LUSH Imperialis:

I've always had oily skin. Extra shiny, blinding myself with my nose in the sun, yah, that bad and more. So I've also tried to go without a facial moisturizer because they've always left me feeling more like a oil slick and blinding everyone else as the sun reflected off my face like a angry fiery god.

That was until I picked up Imperialis.

I noticed the change right away. My face wasn't an oil slick, the moisturizer actually blended into my skin and soothed it, and the texture?
                      Oohhhh yah.

I'm never going without this stuff for as long as I can. I've also noticed it calmed down my breakouts to the point of near non-existence and using it on a sunburn isn't half bad either.

If you're ever in doubt just ask for a sample and give it a try. I'm just glad that I did.

I've used Imperialis, and although it wasn't my holy grail daytime moisturizer, it definitely wasn't bad, either! I had some redness around my nose area and on my cheeks, and Imperialis seemed to clear it up (probably the lavender at work!) It's also non-greasy (which I love!), so I could throw my makeup over it and not have to worry about my makeup sliding around. Overall, I would say that it's very average, which is what I really like in my daytime moisturizers.

I started using Imperialis about a month ago along with Angels on Bare Skin and Tea Tree Water. I have always had very bad stress acne on my chin. Every product talks about dryness, oiliness or combination, but none of that really described my problems or my skin, so I've never really found anything that helped, let alone got rid of the acne.

Until now! The Imperialis scent is very light so it doesn't clash with any other scents you may wear or use. It is very light so I don't feel like I've slathered my face in grease. I have a HUGE texture issue with anything I perceive as oily or greasy, or thick. I just dip the tip of my index finger in and rub it into my forhead, templed and top of my nose, dip again for each cheek and my chin. It dries very fast so I don't have to wait if I am putting make up on. These products have also greatly reduced the old acne spots on my chin.

You'll get used to the smell, it goes away after application. The oil absorbs quickly, redness is reduced, Imperialis leaves my skin soft as a baby's bottom.

got this as a sample yesterday, i have a hard time finding moisturizers that aren't greasy and don't reek of perfume- so far i am enjoying this! It is very light, disappears instantly into your skin, and the scent vanishes as well. I think this will be a permanent part of my lush collection.

I have combination skin and this moisturizer is absolutely perfect. My tzone does not get oily, my cheeks are not dry but they are perfectly moisturized. My skin is seriously glowing. I was worried that it was going to be mediocre but it really is amazing. I only use a tiny amount and my skin is soft and supple. I mean I used a TINY amount. Should last a very long time. Immediate results. I highly recommend.

This is so good! It moisturizes really well, and I've only gotten a sample of this and I'm so excited to go buy it! It was a little over a week's worth. It was perfect for my skin (dry to combination) and it really lessened oil secretion on my T-zone. I could tell it REALLY worked because I used it while on vacation, where I was outside ALL DAY! (And it's summer, mind you)
If you really want matte and less oil on your face, this works really well!

this product is great on my combination skin, it moisturized my dry areas and controlled oil in my oily ones but i'm not a huge fan of the smell, kind of reminds me of rancid oatmeal. if you can get over the scent this product is magnificent. its very light and you cannot feel it on the skin. it does not make me break out or look greasy (i live in florida, where its hot and humid ALLLLL the time). i just ran out and i am considreing buying another one.

This is great! It totally smoothed out my drier patches and my oily bits were not greasy. And a litttle bit goes a loooong way! Just a tiny dab was enough to coat my entire face.

                                                  Comments about LUSH Imperialis:

I originally used Celestial moisturizer but had skin issues. However this one seems to be just perfect for my skin.

My skin is mostly normal. At times it can be oily or dry but I would not label it as combo because most of the time it is normal.

It is a light mositurizer, softens skin and evens out skin tone.

I'm not a big fan of the scent but that is a non-issue for me. It's not horrendous.

I have combination/oily, acne-prone skin. Vanishing Cream wasn't moisturizing enough for me. I've read that cocoa butter clogs pores. Will the cocoa butter in this moisturizer or one of the other ones clog my pores?

We use cocoa butter in almost all of our moisturizers as it's quite lovely for the skin! If you've found that your Vanishing Cream hasn't been moisturizing enough, Enzymion or Gorgeous are also fantastic choices!

                                                      Hi, pinkbunnies,

Can only speak personally, but I haven't noticed any pore-clogging. The moisturizer, despite having cocoa butter, is actually VERY light and fluffy feeling. It's not dense at all. It goes on your skin very smoothly and sinks in quickly, so it doesn't feel slick on your face.

Hi! I looked for an ingredients list online re: Imperialis. I noticed that it contains parabens and there is much controversy that this ingredient may produce hormonal imbalance. I was surprised to see this ingredient in this product. I rely on lush to be natural. I am on the fence about this. Can you please provide me with more information about Lush's use of parabens and the reasons why they are used. I am trying to make an informative decision and I would like to hear your viewpoint. Thank you, Natalie

At LUSH we use fresh fruits and vegetables, the finest essential oils, and safe synthetics to create our products. In our liquid products, we need to include a preservative material to make sure that dangerous bacteria, molds, fungi and other nasties don't grow in the product and make you sick. We choose our synthetic ingredients based on a long history of safe use, and we feel that the way we use parabens (in safe quantities, and in only liquid products that need preserving) safely and as intended to keep your product from going off and making you sick.

In short, Imperialis can definitely work for acne-prone skin. Depending on how else you would describe your skin, there may be better options. Imperialis is great for balancing the skin, as lavender encourages dry skin to produce natural oils, and discourages oilier skin from overdoing it. For oilier, acne-prone skin we would suggest either Enzymion or Vanishing Cream.

I use this but do not have an acne problem. A very good friend does have an acne problem and uses this moisturizer. It helps just a little but certainly doesn't hurt it. She also uses Tea Tree Toner prior to application (that does help decrease pore size). I hope that helps!

Look at the expiration date on the bottom of the pot.

It lasts for a pretty long time. Its expiration date is for about a 10 months after i bought it and if you use it daily, after the shower like me, you'll have enough for those 10 months. But, don't use too much or it can feel greasy so just a db goes a long way!

When watching out for gluten in our products, you'll want to look for wheatgerm, wheatgrass, any manner of oats or oat milk, and yeast. Imperialis is free of these ingredients! If you'd like to avoid any possibility of cross-contamination, you may also want to avoid any soy ingredients, in which case Imperialis is still in the clear!

The gluten protein is found in processed wheat, barley, and rye. Imperialis has none of these products and thus, gluten free.
