I've been slowly trying to switching all my cosmetics and beauty products to more natural, chemical-free products. With that said, i was pretty psyched to try this eyeliner.

Unfortunately, I ended up being pretty disappointed. I wear eyeliner on a daily basis and this was just too messy to deal with every day. I tried but I ended up spending so much more time trying to get this too look right. I don't know if it's the brush, the consistency of the liner, or a combo of both. Plus, the shape of the bottle prevents you from ditching their brush and using an angled eyeliner brush that would give you more control.

I know a lot of people had problems with flaking but I didnt. When I finally got it on, it usually lasted the day ok. It's just too much of a pain for daily use. I won't rebuy it when I run out.

Lush- I LOVE LOVE the colors in your emotional brilliance line and I love the idea of healthier, cruelty-free make up in fun colors. They are so hard to find! but I am begging you to rethink some of this line. Maybe some eyeliner pencils, which would be easier to apply? Or have them a little more solid in tiny pots so we can use different brushes? I would snatch up the fun colors for eyeliner so fast!

I tested this at my local LUSH store and had to have it. Its very gentle on the eyes, doesn't irritate the delicate skin.

I can put this on in the morning over an eyelid primer and it lasts all day. It is also easy to apply, and easy to fix if you make a mistake with it.

The color is nice and dark, just the way I like it!

This eyeliner is overall a great product! My only complaint is that its pretty liquid-y. However, I am not too good at eye make up, so that could be part of the problem! I love using this at night because it is so easy to make a thin line for a casual look, or thicken it up for a bolder eye.

This is the liner I've been looking for. Finally, one that isn't harsh on my eyes, yet stays in place all day! I line my top lids as close to my lash line as possible and then tickle the length of my bottom lash lines for a clean, radiant finish. No more ending my days looking like a panda bear. Not to mention, I can feel great about the ingredients!

So sad. So wanted this in my life. It feels great on and is super easy to control and looks natural (as natural as liquid/cremem liner can look). However... it has a blue tint to it. It appears like a navy eyeliner, not a black one. Very sad.

Was never big on using liquid eyeliner but have started getting hooked on Lush products so thought I'd give this a try. Love it! Goes on easily, wears all day. I have very sensative skin (yes, including my eye area) but this product does not irritate at all!

I have very very sensitive eyes and I was so thrilled when Lush debuted Emotional Brilliance! I couldn't wait to try this liner! So far I have no problems with it. Yes, it can get flakey at the end of an 8 hour day and yes, it will smear if you cry but it is SO worth it just to have a simple black liner that doesn't drive my eyeballs insane with irritation. Please keep this product around!!!

A little goes a long way with this bottle. I have had Independent for 5-6 months and I am just getting close to finishing it. The brush is incredible, small and very easy to apply. I find the color to be true; appearing very black. It dries fairly fast on my eyelids. If I have to make any corrections I wait about 30 seconds. I have worn this on my long days, at work or just out and about, and it has stayed on without even smudging. I remove my makeup with 9 to 5 by Lush and Independent comes off smoothly. The best part about this product is that it is vegan! The only negative comment I have to say is that it is too pricey, but that is expected of Lush. I will continue to buy this as my only black liquid eyeliner for as long as they sell it! :)

I'm a huge fan of winged liner, and as far as liquid liner goes, this one is easy to use. I think it smells a little funny, but it's no big deal. Takes some practice to get used to, as most liners do, but it washes away easily if you mess up and stays in place for most of the day. A little more expensive than I would've wanted to spend, but there's loads of it in the bottle. Lush wins again.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago because my eyes were getting really sensitive and irritated by my other eyeliner. This product is so gentle! I've been using it off and on for a couple of weeks with the new Lush mascara, and my eye lashes are getting thicker and softer, and my eyes are no longer irritated.
It is a bit messy but it is a liquid eye liner. That is to be expected. The only thing that I wish was different is that after about a 6 hr day it starts to get a little flakey.
Once again Lush makes a great product. Way to go, guys!

I'm surprised this got any negative reviews. I've been wearing this pretty regularly and I've never had any problems with it, certainly not with it flaking. If anything it remains moist and blendable for most of when I am wearing it, so I have to be careful not to rub my eyes after putting it on for the first hour. But after that it stays put and goes the whole day.

Another huge thing is that once, I got a big dab of it in my eye while I was putting it on and I didn't even notice because my eye wasn't irritated at all! I just blinked a few times and it was like it never happened. I'm more careful putting it on now, but it's good to know that I don't have to worry about harsh makeup on my eyeball if my hand shakes in the future.

Of course it can be messy to put on if you have long eyelashes, but with practice it gets easier. It's so smooth going on that you don't have to apply hardly any pressure for it to make a line, so getting the size line you want--thin or bold--is really easy. And if you make a mistake, you can wipe it off with nothing but your finger!

The only thing I can think of that could account for any problems those other reviewers might have had was if they were using it on their waterline--the eyeliner doesn't stick there, probably because it's too wet from the eyeball. Not a huge deal if you're like me and don't care if you have a perfectly black waterline, but I could see it being an issue if that's what you wear. I'd say invest in separate liner for your waterline but leave everything else to INDEPENDENT. It's awesome, and it's all I need.

I use eyeliner on my top lid most days, and my problem is that my eyelids get kind of greasy. By the end of the day I go from looking like I'm wearing eyeliner to looking like I have badly applied dark eyeshadow smeared on my eyelids. This eyeliner is absolutely perfect for me. It stays in place all day! I even went for a run with my makeup on and it still looked absolutely awesome. On top of that, the brush gives me so much control that I can finish doing all of my makeup in about two minutes, instead of taking almost ten painstaking minutes trying to get my eyeliner exactly right. It also cleans very easily and just feels very light on my skin. I am definitely going to stick with the LUSH emotional brilliance line for all of my makeup from now on!

The first time I tried to post my review Lush didn't accept it, so I guess I'll try again. I wear black liquid eyeliner everyday and this is the worst one I have ever used. First of all it is described as a true jet black, which it is not. It has a silver sheen to it but when I shake it, it turns a dark gray. It has a very strong paint scent. I wore it in a cat eye and It only wears for about 6 hours then it cracks and flacks off. Not worth it.

I would first like to state that I have been an LUSH addict for the past 12 years. I have tryed everything they have ever come up with good and bad, but I must say there are not too many iteams that I dislike. I love them all some more then others. But most have my heart.

this will be the first I will have to say, lush love the idea but u must work at it a lot more in the lab before women around the world busy or not put this on there eyes;(...

I sooo desperately wanted to Love this eyeliner but I just can't make any excuses for it.. It's drips all over the place,takes so long to dry. And to top it off it flakes all over you face within a few hours. Lady's please if your going out to a club or bar Do NOT USE THIS! No matter how good your drink makes u feel once u walk into the lady's room to Rosie up your lips u will u understand why every guy at the bar was holding up on buying u a drink.

I use a liquid liner everyday, I have used a ton of different products and I have found over the years that I prefer the fine brush tip, no felt tips for me! This product is true to its color,(Independent =Black) stay on VERY well and doesn't need much of a touch up. The fine brush tip is perfect as well. My one minor complain is that that screw top handle is a little weird to get used to as far as control. (I have very long eyelashes)Otherwise with my oily eyelids and wear preference it stays on great and doesn't move. Its also very easy to correct errors with a wet q-tip. You may think its a bit pricey, but I promise its worth it!

THIS IS SERIOUSLY THE BEST EYELINER EVER! I can't even believe how great it is. I have worn eyeliner for 10 years and never found one that is better. It doesn't smudge or make weird creases or feel sticky or anything. It holds perfectly (even in Phoenix summer heat), it comes off easily when it needs to and I love it so much.

I love the look of liquid eyeliner, but every drugstore brand I have tried has left my eyes feeling stiff and sticky. This is the first eyeliner I have used that has given me the look I want without any sort of stickiness. It applies smoothly, feels great, and dries into a black matte that looks incredible. I will definitely use Independent for a long time.
