WOW!
I am being serious when I say I have the most ridiculously oily hair. I spend hundreds of dollars trying top of the line shampoos and conditioners from every company on the planet because I am so self-conscience about my hair and nothing works. I seriously thought I was crazy, I mean how can no shampoos or conditioners work on my hair? Even though I had just spent $75 on a new hair care set, when I was buying soaps on the Lush website, I came across jumping juniper and figured, why not give it a try? I mean what do I have to lose?
Boy was I not disappointed. It smells great, lathers amazingly, and leaves my hair, most importantly OIL FREE. I mean my hair looks like I just got out of a salon. It is soft and light and looks so so healthy. I am going to be ordering about ten of these in my next order.
Thank you so much Lush for saving my hair. Please do not ever cancel this product, or at least contact me first so I can buy all of it that you have left!

My first retro product and shampoo bar, I have oily roots and dry ends. I used I Love Juicy until it started working too well, and the same started happening with Jumping Juniper as well.
It's a nice shampooing experience, it has this rich, creamy lather that is gentle and soft to the touch and smells nice, very easy to use and doesn't melt or wear away like other LUSH products. However, when the hair dries or even worse, if you use a hair dryer, I noticed after only a few times using it that it had dried my hair out even down the the scalp, making it dry and flaky even. Works too well! I would use it whenever you're having oily issues, but not for an everyday shampoo.

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I really wanted to like this and had high hopes. I bought it with the intention of being able to skip an extra day with shampooing and it just didn't work out for that. it was still a decent shampoo, but it also stripped my hair of any oils and didn't replace any of them, which made my mid-back length hair a nightmare to comb out.
It does smell really nice and lathers nicely. I used it until the bar ran out but I definitely won't repurchase.

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I have straight, medium-length hair that gets oily after one day. After researching the best shampoos for this condition, a lot of websites named the Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar as their #1 choice, so I tried it. And it worked! I went through two bars over the course of about 3 months. And then I got curious and decided to try some of Lush's other solid shampoos that seemed to be oily-hair friendly. I tried and went through a bar each of Squeaky Green and Seanik. After testing all three bars thoroughly (I shampoo every 1-3 days), I can honestly say that Jumping Juniper comes out on top, followed by Squeaky Green and then Seanik.
The solid shampoos, in general, are a great buy. They last forever, especially if you purchase a tin to store them in. Jumping Juniper smells fantastic, and my hair feels incredibly soft after each use. I have really oily hair, so I don't need to use any sort of conditioner on a regular basis (though, I would recommend to people with oily hair to deep condition occasionally for nutrition and strengthening purposes).
I can get away with using this bar and nothing else for my hair care regimen. If I shampoo every day, I use one application. If I skip days between washes, I rinse and repeat. The key to this shampoo (and every shampoo, for that matter) is thoroughly rinsing it out of your hair. I like to let my hair air dry whenever possible, but I've also found that blow-drying your hair immediately after washing it can help stave off an oily scalp and give your hair extra volume.
The only other product that I occasionally use with my hair is the Sea Spray, and only then when my hair needs some extra boost. Oh, yeah, and I also use Lush's No Drought Dry Shampoo for in-between days. That product is amazing, and worth a separate review entirely :)

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I used to have incredibly soft, shiny, and very straight hair, but about half way through my pregnancy, I developed an oil slick on the top of my head, and it didn't go away after delivering, like I hoped it would (my daughter's now 9 months old). I tried every kind of shampoo you can imagine, wasted tons of money, and still had a greasy mess on the top of my head. Out of desperation, I did a Google search for "best shampoos for oily scalp" and a few sites mentioned Lush's Jumping Juniper, so I decided to give it a try. I've used it for 2 days, and my hair is even softer than before I had my baby! I even wore my hair down today for the first time in months. I'm so unbelievably happy with Jumping Juniper and highly recommend it. Plus, it smells amazing!

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I love the scent and idea of this shampoo! I mean, who wouldn't love the idea of a SOLID shampoo? I actually bought this to save space for my suitcase at summer camp, but I really like it! I may make it a permanent use sort of thing. I don't usually have very greasy hair, so I can't really vouch for un-greassiness. But my hair does seem unusually shiny! But I don't like how the little plant/leafy thing comes off in bits. I learned the hard way that they can get caught in your hair! But now I just lather it in my hands and pick them off if they fall off the bar. Overall, this is great!

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I love this product! I have really greasy hair and I have to wash it every day otherwise my hair looks like I haven't showered in three days.
I used this product and it works miracles. I can go three days without washing my hair and every day it looks like I washed it that morning. This product doesn't weigh hair down, lathers well, and smells good!
I use this every other day because
1.) I don't need to wash my hair every day anymore
2.) It tends to dry out your hair and scalp if you do wash every day
This is a must have for me and I will continue to repurchase!

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I have wavy, somewhat thin long hair. Over the past few months my hair had been getting more and more oily and seemed thinner. A hairdresser commented that my hair was very fine, and by the end of the same day I got a professional wash / haircut my hair already seemed very flat and limp. My hair was also breaking at the crown and becoming a little course. I finally traced these problems to a medication that was also making me break out, but in the meantime looked for a shampoo solution. This is the best one I've found so far. A few of the other oily-hair shampoos I tried actually seemed to make the problem worse. But my first thought combing my hair after using this shampoo was, "I've got my old hair back!"
I use it every day and definitely use more strokes than the bar recommends. (I do like a good foam!) Even so, it's lasted for over a month. It's really improved by leaving the lather in for several minutes and washing in cooler water, although I seldom do the latter. As others have commented, it doesn't smell like much. As with any shampoo, you have to make sure to rinse it completely out, and this left no scent. I also found it expelled a lot of dust the first few times I used it, which got in my nose/eyes and was relatively irritating. But this stopped once I used the bar a few times and it melted down a bit. Just be aware of this, and perhaps leave the top of the can off so you don't have to wrestle with it and let out more dust.
In my case, I think a topical treatment won't solve 100% of the problem, so I've admittedly been treating my hair more gently since I started using the product, until I switch medications: Just a little conditioner now and then, detangling and twisting at night to add volume, leaving the next day, no more blowdrying. But this shampoo still seems to do wonders, and I've straightened my hair / gone a little over 24 hours without washing it with no disasters! I haven't found it to make my hair *too* dry, as others have commented. Occasionally I have an off-day, but these are few and far between. Thought a shampoo bar was too shishi for me at first, but now I'd definitely recommend it!

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I'm fairly new to lush products but now that I've started, I can't stop! The idea of solid shampoo intrigued me, but I'll admit I was skeptical. I ordered a whole bunch of products online, including jumping juniper. It's amazing! I have a really oily scalp, and this product definitely works without completely drying out your hair! I color my hair, and it didn't strip it either. I also just can't get over the smell, so yummy! Overall, it's just an amazing product!

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
While this shampoo works for some people, I found the more I used it, the more ineffective it was for my hair type. I have a dry scalp, but my hair gets very oily throughout the day. The bar smells amazing and lathers well, but with my thick curly hair it stripped it, making it dull and frizzy. If you have super oily hair, but don't have dry scalp this is the shampoo for you.

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
This is what got me hooked on Lush products.
I have very fine hair, and it get's oily quick. Using store bought shampoos and conditioners really weighed my hair down, and an hour later after having used those products, my hair looked like a oil slick. GROSS.
I has never even heard of Lush until I stumbled upon this on the internet. I was searching for a product to take all of my hair worries away. I was a little iffy, because of the price. I thought it would be "just another product". Boy was I sure wrong! This is amazing. The first time I used it, my hair never looked the same. I looked like I just walked out of a salon. This will always be in my bathroom!
Just a warning, I don't use this everyday, although I'm sure you could. It drys my hair out, and makes it hard to brush, so please pair with a very mosturizing and light conditioner.

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I love this product so much. My local mall recently got a LUSH, and I've been meaning to try out solid shampoos - total impulse buy while I was waiting for my new glasses, and so worth it!
I have hair that's somewhere between just wavy and very curly, it can get oily, and it's thick. Really thick. It's the kind of hair that you'll pull out handfuls of every time you wash it. With this shampoo I've noticed a decrease in shedding, and it takes care of my oil without drying it out too much. (I'm still using drugstore conditioner, that may make a difference.)
HOWEVER. I haven't been noticing any irritation on my scalp or hands, but since I've started using Jumping Juniper the skin on my cheeks and the underside of my jaw has been irritated for at least ten minutes after coming out of the shower. It's red, blotchy, and itchy - it usually fades after a while, but it's very unpleasant. Despite this, I don't think I'll stop using this shampoo, and I'll just find a good facial moisturizer instead. The shampoo itself is perfect.

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I have struggled with limp, straight and EXTREMELY greasy hair all of my life...this product is a miracle! I used to have to wash my hair every other day or else I looked like a complete grease ball now I only have to wash my hair once every 2 or 3 days and it stays clean and oil free! There is not much of a scent and it does dry out my ends a little bit but I found using a nice leave in conditioner fixes that right up! This product has made me a LUSH fanatic!

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I agree with the people who said it dries hair out. Just like them, the first few times I used it, my hair was squeaky clean and beautiful (I have regular straight hair, a little weave, neither fine nor thick). The oil and dandruff had vanished and I noticed I didn't need to wash my hair every other day anymore, maybe just every 3rd or 4th day. However, after a few weeks of using it(along with Superbalm for dandruff and American Cream conditioner - both very good), my flakes started coming back, but from dryness this time, rather than oily scalp. They were everywhere, it was a disaster. I blow dry too, so that increased the dry, flaky effect. My husband was using it too and the exact same thing happened: he started getting dry, big gnarly flakes. I realize now, after reading other reviews, that the Jumping Juniper is best for oily outbreaks, not for regular use (for us, at least) because it over-dries in time. I will have to look into something more neutral or for sensitive scalp.

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
This product is very easy to use;I rub it several times around my hair and scrub. It lather okay not a lot as i would want it but it does lather. The Pros of this product is that it does work for what is says it works for. I have medium-thin hair and it gets oily quick but using this product I dont notice any oily hair until like the forth day. It also gives it some shine not alot but i mainly I bought this product because it help with my oily hair. The CONS of using this product is that it makes my hair feel really rough after i rinse it out and SUPER tangaly, you MUST use a conditionor with this product. Also the first time I bought this product it lasted for about 4 to 5 months and worked well through out its use but the second time i bought this product it did not work well in my hair I noticed my hair get oily faster and felt rough with no added shine. I am not sure why it didn't work the second time I bought it, but Jumping Juniper does work well if you are lucky and buy one that works.

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I used to have such oily hair and was always scared to use new products because my hair would turn into a ball of grease. The shampoo I used to use was getting too expensive so I looked at LUSH and found this shampoo that was recommended for oily hair and figured I'd give it a try. Right away I could tell my hair felt cleaner, healthier, and looked great! It feels as if I had just gone to the salon! I had never used a solid shampoo before so I was surprised at how well it lathered! I have really long thick hair and it took maybe a couple of circles around my scalp to get enough soap to cover everything. And best of all, it smells great too! I am completely 100% satisfied with this product! I would highly recommend it to anyone who is frustrated with oily hair. I know how frustrating it is to find a good shampoo for oily hair that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Look no further! This stuff is even better than the salon shampoos that cost $50+

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
I'm 22 and have very fine, straight hair. Over the past couple years my hair has become very oily. I'd shampoo in the morning and have very greasy, flat hair by mid-afternoon. This shampoo made my oil problem MUCH worse. When I used this shampoo my hair was oily IMMEDIATELY after I got out of the shower, as if I had never washed it! I thought maybe the results would improve if I used this product for several days in a row. Still no change: my hair stayed disgustingly greasy. I had to use dry shampoo as soon as my hair dried just to be able to leave my house. Will NOT purchase again!

Comments about Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar:
This is easily my favorite product from LUSH, and the best shampoo I've ever used. My scalp gets fairly oily after about a day, and ends up feeling so gross and itchy I can hardly stand it. A friend brought me into a local LUSH shop and I was immediately intrigued by the idea of a solid shampoo. I asked which would be good for oily hair, and the salesperson showed me Jumping Juniper. I don't know if I could ever use anything else now! Using this shampoo, it takes longer for the oil to start building up, and even then it's much less than before. The bar also lasts forever since it's not so easy to overuse unlike with a liquid shampoo, and it lathers incredibly well. I strongly recommend using the shampoo bar tin for storing it, though. I used a normal soap dish at first, and the grooved bottom pulled at the bar and made it shrink a lot faster.

Nearly every source I can find on hair care says that sulfates are NOT good for hair, especially oily hair as they can dry out the scalp and cause excess oil production. So what makes this product, whose first ingredient is the #1 offender, different from other sulfate shampoos that leave my hair oilier than ever? Are sulfates not as damaging when used with natural ingredients as opposed to chemicals? I'm very curious as to why sodium lauryl sulfate is used in so many of your products when it is said to actually strip the hair of essential oils and good moisture.Asked on 4/23/2013 by Zo from United StatesKnow the answer? Yes, absolutely. With less oils weighing your hair down, you get great volume. I wish I could use this every day to get the kind of volume it gives me, but it's too drying for my bleached hair so I only use it once or twice a week.Answered on 6/14/2012 by lovesilverbullet from Las Vegas, NV

The form that the shampoo is sold in makes no difference. I have been a licensed cosmetologist for 9 years and the most important thing is the way your hair looks after use. There is nothing in a Lush shampoo that could harm your hair. However, hair is like it's wearer, always looking for the right match. If your hair looks shiny once it is dry, then the cuticle is smooth, and your color is as protected as it's gonna get. Lush sells a Henna dye, and they are nearly impossible to remove if you truly want permanent-permanent hair color.Answered on 4/12/2012 by EdieVioletLutz from San DiegoA:

We do not test our shampoos on color treated hair, which is why we do not state that they are necessarily color safe. Jumping Juniper, however, shouldn't strip color as it doesn't contain loads of clarifying ingredients such as salt, or citrus juices.Answered on 8/31/2012 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
