How to use How it's made
Moisten the bar under warm water, and then slide it gently along the length of your wet hair in long, top-to-bottom strokes. Massage it in with your fingertips as you would a conventional conditioner. Rinse thoroughly and revel in the results.

Solid conditioner for fruity, well-behaved locks

Tame your mane with our solid fruity conditioner filled with an abundance of fresh fruit and conditioning cocoa butter. LUSH co-founder and inventor Helen Ambrosen was the first person to make a solid conditioner work. She discovered that cocoa butter will slide onto your hair to make it softer, and then dissolve in water to leave it smooth, shiny and de-tangled. Jungle feels rich and hydrating on the hair and leaves you with a fresh, fruity fragrance after washing it off.

Features

  • Vitamin K: Kumquats are rich in calcium and vitamins, including vitamin C, which has antioxidant properties.
  • Made by hand: Fresh bananas and avocados are mashed into every batch to condition the hair.
  • Dual purpose: Our preservative and packaging-free solid conditioner also doubles as a shaving cream for your legs.

This is THE BEST hair product I have ever used, no joke. I'm usually not that enthusiastic about hair products after using so many useless ones, but this stuff has done wonders for my long, thick, dry/oily, can't-decide-if-it's-wavy-straight-or-curly hair. This conditioner gives me nice, soft waves with no effort and it smells great for ages. I've found that after using it, my hair doesn't get oily as often and so, I don't need to wash it as often.

TIPS ON USING EFFECTIVELY- The key to making this conditioner work is using it properly, which can be confusing because it's solid. What I do is scrape off the softer underside of the conditioner and smash it into my palm until it's a paste. After you've used it and left it in the shower, the side it rests on will be mushier then the exposed side and that's the stuff to use. You can also cut it up into little pieces, put them in a bottle and pour hot water over them. It will thicken and end up like a traditional conditioner.

Sorry for the long review, but I seriously can't say enough good things about it. Also, it is SO well priced and it lasts a LONG TIME. I bought mine 2 months ago and I have only used maybe 35% of it. I use it nearly every time I shower, so maybe 4-5 times a week. Hope this helps!

I'm a huge fan of Lush's solid Shampoos and received this conditioner as a gift. I had some high expectations for it but unfortunately, it didnt hit the bar. I have long, thick hair and this conditioner, when I add ALOT to my hair leaves it somewhat soft and clean but only on my scalp area. The rest of my hair ended up very dry, became brittle and now I have split ends.

I assumed the problem with this was that I wasnt applying it properly so I tried mashing a little up and watering it down so it would be easier to spread but no dice. The same thing happened with my ends and my hair is still brittle. Surprisingly my hair feels softer BEFORE I apply this conditioner than after. I think I'm going to stick to Lush's liquid conditioners and, though this one smells amazing, is a great concept, I wouldnt buy it again unless they improved their formula.

Comments about LUSH Jungle:

I have pretty thick hair down to my waist, and I haven't touched it with a scissors in almost three years. Discovered Jungle about a year ago, and use it every few days. I won't ever go back to other conditioner! I have NO split ends, and my hair has never been shinier or healthier.

I tried to use it in the bar form, but had a lot of trouble. It's easier for me to use a knife to scrape off little bits, and then put them in a container. I add hot water in a 2:1 ratio with the conditioner bits, cover, and in a few hours it's a thick paste - even when I accidentally use too much water, I can let it sit overnight and it will paste-ify. (An empty small Lush product jar works perfectly for this!) The only downside to this method is it's not as airline-travel friendly as the regular bar would be.

My scalp tends to the oily side, so I make sure to only get a little bit on my scalp and concentrate the use on the ends.

Also, I keep the bar in my shower to rub on my legs before I shave - gives me a perfect smooth shave every time.

Comments about LUSH Jungle:

I ordered this online before smelling it and when it came in, I HATED the smell, but it's still a thousand times better than Veganese (*ahem* LUSH needs more vegan conditioner).
The first time I used it, I decided I liked the smell, especially after my hair dried. I couldn't stop smelling it. But I couldn't really find any differences between Jungle and the salon bought stuff I was using before.
After I went through the whole puck, I decided to just keep buying it for the smell. It wasn't until about 2 weeks ago that I discovered that I could shave bits off of it and mix it with hot water to make it into a liquid conditioner (just enough for one or two uses at a time). I cannot believe what a huge difference it's made in my hair since then. My ends have gone from dry, straw-like, frizzy messes to shiny, silky, smooth, beautiful ends in two weeks. I will never go back to any other conditioner I've tried. Thanks for making such an amazing product, LUSH. I don't even really mind that I have to take 5 minutes to make this into a liquid/cream.

I did not like this product at all. I tried many ways to use it. Applying it directly to my hair, trying to rub it in my hand with water, nothing seemed to work. I did not like the smell so just when I was about to throw it away my boyfriend started using it and said it worked fine for him. So at least someone is using it

        Comments about LUSH Jungle:

I bought this with high hopes, but low expectations. I've used LUSH solid shampoos in the past and have enjoyed the scents and convenience, but never tried one of their conditioners. I have very thick, fairly long, quite curly, usually frizzy hair and I've never found a conditioner that helps to calm it down and make it shine. To my surprise and delight, this one actually does. I've been using it in conjunction with the Trichomania solid shampoo for about two months now, and am just now nearing the end of it. I'm just writing this review on my way to re-upping my supply of it because those two months have been the best hair months of my life. My hair has never been so soft, so sleek and so co-operative. I would go on, but I have to go buy more now.

        Soft, Healthy, Glossy Locks

            Comments about LUSH Jungle:

While on Accutane/isotretinoin, my normally Asian oily skin/hair/scalp has dried up with much scalp itchiness and flaking. The Snake Oil Hair Treatment and Soak-and-Float have worked wonders with dealing with the above symptoms.

I initially bought the Jungle just so that I would have a detangler/conditioner after using the Soak-and-Float shampoo. I wasn't really expecting anything great, but after just 1-2 applications of the Jungle, my hair is now soft, shiny, and glossy, just like after I've had a hair treatment.

I usually blow-dry and straighten my hair every 2 days, and my hair now has not looked so healthy since I was a child. I've tried many low- to high-end products before in the past too.

Instead of running the bar of Jungle down my hair, I use my nails to scrape off a little bit, and warm it up in my hands (not adding water). Then, I just run it through my hair, and clip my hair up. Wait 5 minutes, and then wash it out. It doesn't feel like there's anything in your hair or makes much difference during application, washing off, or even towel drying. After blow-drying and styling, however, my hair feels amazingly soft and shiny!

I am slightly confused on the check boxes on this one, it seems to be talking about a floral arrangement??

Again, this is something I bought to travel out of state with. It works really well but I think it is a product people with extremly thick and/or curly hair might have a harder time with. I have very very, stupidly thick hair, and it wasn't a hassle to use but it deffinatly took more than the 3 strokes they say to use in the instructions. My hair is medium length, so I imagine people with longer hair would also find it a little more time comsuming than liquid conditioner. I really like the smell, and since I've been home, and back to my liquid conditioner, it has been sitting in one of the bathroom drawers and makes the bathroom smell so fresh and clean, I think even if it wasn't a conditioner I would buy it just for the bathroom. Once I managed to rub it into my hair enough it is very light and smoothing, and in general a great conditioner.

                  Comments about LUSH Jungle:

This is my favorite conditioner, followed by American Cream. However, unlike American Cream, it has a much more subtle scent - perfect for when you want to wear your favorite perfume but still want a lovely smell when your significant other holds you and smells your hair. Because it's hard to crumble and mix in the shower, I recommend looking up Youtube videos about how to blend it with water so you have a liquid form. The smell lessens a bit, but it's easier to use. It also needs to sit on your hair for about five minutes before rinsing.
I go to a "hippie school" here in the USA and my sister tells me it smells like "dirty hippie" in the best way possible. Plus, the tropical smell is perfect here in FL where I'm in school, but the earthier tones are also great for colder climates. The conditioner works best in hot to cool weather, and during the winter, it's good to add a little extra to towel-dried hair. I've also discovered that it also works well as a styling cream when properly diluted. I have curly hair and it keeps it tame, soft, and shiny no matter how humid it gets in these sub-tropical climates.
Lastly, it works wonders as a shaving cream for people with sensitive skin. It's very nourishing and leaves no red bumps, plus your legs/pits/face/wherever will be baby soft!

Overall, I like this product. However, it is necessary for me to use R&B and completely blow dry my hair after I wash it. I used to just wash and go, but if I don't blow dry my hair feels really rough and untamed. But, once blowdried, my hair looks amazing. It still doesn't always feel as soft as conditioners with silicone, but it certainly looks great.

Also, at first I cut about 1/4 of the bar off thinking this would extent it's use, but it made it very difficult to use. So I would recommend leaving the bar intact.

My hair is soft and nourished and light.

I am a lifeguard instructor, and I teach class every week, so I spend many hours a week in chlorinated water. I'm also a haircare freak. I have found that this conditioner does GREAT for pre-soaking my hair before entering the water every day. I just rinse my hair in warm water, then dampen the bar and rub it all over the shaft and ends. Then I get some of the creamy conditioner on my hands and rub a bit into my roots and scalp and leave it in while I teach. The next day, it's like my hair never went in the pool! Better yet I can still use my regular shampoos (usually Godiva or Seanik) with it, rather than chlorine neutralizer. Sometimes if there is excess conditioner, it will rinse off in the pool, so be sure that you only use what you need so your hair can absorb it. I hate using silicone and synthetic conditioners and shampoos for my hair when I'm swimming; I'm so glad that my beloved Lush products still save the day!

                      Comments about LUSH Jungle:

This, along with my Godiva bar, is the first thing I have tried from Lush, and I LOVE it! The first time I used both of them, I knew immediately that I love the smell - both of them are fragrances I'd probably never pick but they work great together and even the hubby noticed I smelled nice.

But more importantly, this stuff genuinely moisturizes the hair shaft. When I first used it, I thought, as my hair was drying, that it had dried my hair out, because I'm used to conventional conditioner. Most conditioners have at least some silicone in them to give you that slippery, soft feel. This one doesn't, which actually allows the hair to "breathe" and keeps it from building up.

When I first had this product in the shower, I thought for sure it wouldn't work - my hair didn't feel slippery like it normally does with conditioner in it. I did have to work it in a little more than what the instructions indicated.

After my hair was completely dry, it felt beautifully silky. And the next day, it seemed to get even softer. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has split ends or long hair like I do, because I can tell it is going to help me through the winter.

This was way too heavy for my fine hair - couldn't get it distributed evenly and lightly enough through the hair, so it was impossible for me to use. I also found the scent too strong, such that it would compete with my regular perfume.

My boyfriend, however, took to using this when styling his hair, used it right up.

                            Comments about LUSH Jungle:

I have bought this product twice...mostly for the smell. It gives out wonderful aroma that stay on you hair for the whole day. But that's all I like about this product. The conditioner doesn't moisturize your hair enough unless you use a lot of it, and that will make your hair smell like heaven too. However, you will run out after 2 weeks.

...because I want to stay in the Jungle! This is one of the best conditioners that I've tried in a long time and I've tried more than a few! I have curly-kinky hair which is by nature more dry than oily but still soft which means it is more easily damaged by the elements. This conditioner is awesome and I love the smell. I use Trichomania for shampoo and they pair well together.

grabbed it on a whim, my hair is straw like and pretty well beaten up.

my first go was a complete failure, i was confuzzled by this "solid conditioner" so i didnt use it properly and it made my hair greasy and very heavy. so i decided id give it another chance to wow me and holy moly did it impress me!

shampooed my hair like normal, and ( i ut the bar into quarters) ran the small hunk through my hair *paying close attention to my ends and i was feeling no love still, and after rinsing it was not feeling like it was working when my hair was wet. but after i dried my hair... it was shiny and soft, smelled amazing and i didn't even have to straighten it...let me tell you how this will be a staple in my home from now on. and i will preach the gospel of 'solid conditioners' now im excited to give the solid shampoos a go! you have made a true believer out of me <3

This product is hard to apply but once you learn how to use it it's amazing. I have a ton of fine hair and the first two times I used it I totally over did it and the results were oily and heavy although my hair smelled fantastic. The instruction video didn't work for me at all. I use the top of the tin and add a small amount of jungle (pea sized, slightly bigger) and about 1-2 tbs of warm water in the shower. I mix it until it looks like a normal conditioner then apply to my ends. It doesn't give you the slick feeling of conditioners you are used to but when you dry your hair it's de-tangled and shiny. My favorite use is after I blow dry or straighten my hair; I take a small amount and heat it between my fingers/palms and use to smooth out fly-aways and give texture. The scent sticks around and it really smooths out my split ends.

I purchased this on Saturday and I have used it on my daughter's and my hair. My daughter has a lot of hair. It is fine and curly. My hair is shoulder-lenght fine and wavy. We both used Trichomania to wash our hair and applied Jungle after rinsing (duh). When I applied it to my daughter's hair, I was not sure if it was going to do anything at all. When I rinsed and towel dried her hair though I could comb it through without a problem. No tangles! On my hair I applied it as per instruction and let it set for 3 or 4 minutes. Right there and then I could run my fingers through my hair!! After rinsing and towel drying I used a little bit of R&B and I let my hair air dry. It is so shiny and soft! And, smells so good between Jungle and R&B!!! Another plus is that it will last a long time and when I am done with it there will be no bottle to throw way!

Maybe my hair is too thick for this product, but it did not make my hair softer or feel more conditioned. It was also hard to use and I had to break off huge chunks to feel like I was getting enough coverage. Breaking pieces off resulted in a lot being wasted. I like the smell but my husband said it made me smell like a hippy.

I have long (waist length), thin, extreamly straight hair that gets oily really quickly. It also gets tangly really easily. The main worry with this conditioner was that it wouldn't get rid of my tangles.
It takes awhile to get used to. It is a bit more difficult to apply than a traditional conditioner, but it's worth the extra effort. I personally get it wet in hot water in the shower, rub it between my hands to get it really slippery, and then rub it on the bottom half of my hair, like from my neck area to the ends. I stroke it up and down that length of my hair about 10 times until it feels really slippery and then I rinse it out.
It is a little bit more challenging to comb my hair out after using this conditioner when compared with traditional ones, but I still like it better. It gives enough moisture to make my hair look healthy and not dried out but it also doesn't weigh it down like other conditioners did.

                                      Comments about LUSH Jungle:

I bought this months ago with a bunch of Lush goodies. I used it daily for weeks then, since I'm always looking for other products, started using some other things. This has lasted me for months, and I still have a decent amount left, but decided to buy a replacement anyway.

I personally love the smell. I can see how it isn't for everyone, but it reminds me of the smell of my local co-op (which has a lot of herbs and body products near the front door): earthy but inviting.

How I use it is mostly on my strands...I usually don't use this on my roots. I'll take the bar (back side usually) and run it down the length of my strands, top and underneath, and concentrate it on my ends. Then, like with any conditioner I use, I let it sit while I wash with other Lush goodies. When I rinse it, I feel like it rinses really cleanly. It doesn't leave my hair caked in product, but still manages to make it soft and smooth.

I don't know if it's this product, the shampoo bars or both, but I can honestly say that my hair dries quicker with this, and with more volume. It does NOT weigh your hair down at all. For that reason alone, I was sold. I can't explain it! I've used other products (from drug store like Aussie/Pantene to higher end Aveda/Wen) and love this product above the others.

Wish I had been around for Jungle perfume!

I have a severe allergy to kiwis but it's a fairly recent discovery (4 yrs or so), long after the last of my last sliver of the Karma solid conditioner I used to buy ran out (I've confused this one w/ that one in a review until I read the ings.). I badly need something to moisturize my thin, dry hair (I have Lupus) & dry, itchy scalp. Wld the kiwi in this make me have a reaction?

We would strongly advise against using any products that contain ingredients that you are allergic to. We have some great liquid conditioners that don't contain any kiwis, so I'd have a look at those instead to be on the safe side.

Depending on the amount you use the Jungle is should last for quite a while, as it takes time for the solid bar to melt down. To help preserve it for as long as possible its best to store it in a dry, cool place when not in use as it contains coco butter, an extremely hydrating but meltable ingredient. A drainable soap dish is ideal.

I would use it on color-treated hair that is not severely damaged. I have colored hair, but it's colored with temporary non-ammonia dyes. I am not sure with blonde or bleached hair, but I would definitely give it a try.

Use it with Godiva. I swear this product works!

While Jungle isn't specifically designed for colour-treated hair, in my experience I have not found it to be stripping, as it is meant to help seal down the hair's cuticle to give shine and protect the hair.

No, but it does smell really good. It does have the same type of smell as far as being sort of earthy and warm, but it smells nothing like Karma. I love Karma, and I love this, so I would suggest you try it (:

I don't find them even slightly similar. I hate the smell of Karma and love the smell of Jungle.

Jungle isn't the same scent as Karma Komba, and it has a tropical fruity and slightly floral scent. It's quite unique, and I smell a bit of sandalwood, lots of green and floral notes.

It's a little too tall when you first buy it. After a few uses, though, it should fit fine.

Yes, definitely! Because they are handmade, sometimes there is a bit of size variation, but mine fits perfectly in my shampoo tin. :)
