Just tried this product for the first time, and I am IN LOVE!!!
I'm going through the brutal process to platinum blonde after a year of dying my hair black. My hair is very dry, brittle and breaking off quite a bit.
I took the extra time to coat all of my hair in small sections, and used the whole pot. Left it in for 30 minutes, rinsed out, washed my hair and conditioned.
Not only does it smell great, but my hair hasn't felt this soft and healthy in months!
Seriously a miracle!

I definitely enjoy using Marilyn on my hair. My hair has been deeply damaged and the ends have a "cotton candy" look i've been trying to grow out over time which helped me transition to using all natural products. This product smooths nicely onto my dry hair when i use a coloring brush and i only use about a 1/4 of the pot (my hair is about 2 inches below my shoulders so using the brush certainly extends the number of uses). After my hair is thoroughly saturated i put my hair in a shower cap and put the blowdryer over it until it's nice and warm (typically 20 - 30 mins except when it's not winter then i'll just go sit in the sun) and then i'll either leave it on overnight or until it is almost dry in my hair then i'll wash it out. After i run the warm water for a couple mins thru my hair massaging my scalp i used my Ultimate Shine shampoo bar and just a dab of Retread on my tips before i rinse with cool water. After using another dab of R&B once i've started to dry my hair to smooth it out i can notice a difference immediately. My hair looks brighter and healthier. It doesn't change the color or seem to lighten my dirty blonde hair but it looks great to tone it out and make it look like the healthy color should!

Growing up I never spent much money on hair products besides shampoo and conditioner (the cheap kind). I've pretty much accepted that my hair is frizzy and I will rarely if ever have a good hair day. But I bought this product, as I now consider myself somewhat of a grownup, as a treat for myself. Oh my goodness my hair was soo soft and smelled so good after using. After my shower my hair's frizziness was down 70%, and I got to see how pretty my natural curls could look. It's been 3 weeks, and I can still say that my hair is soft and with less frizz.

How I used: about 1/4 pot, my hair is wavy/curly, slightly thick, and a little past my shoulders. I left it in for 3 hours, then washed out with regular shampoo and cold water. I loved smelling my hair after for days.

-I have dirty blond hair, and expected some lightening, but I did not notice any. That's the reason for 4 stars.

I have never tried a hair treatment before, because my hair is so thin/ fine that I assumed a hair treatment wouldn't/ couldn't do anything for me. Boy, I was so wrong! I was browsing the "lush times" paper that was included in the box from my last Lush order and I saw Marilyn and thought, "why not?" I am so happy with myself for thinking that!!! This hair treatment is great. I slathered it all over my dry hair (using about a 1/4 of the pot, as recommended for short/ medium length hair) and left in on for about 35 minutes while I watched some television. The smell was fantastic. I saw some reviews that said they didn't like the smell, but I used mine right before my shower before bed and the smell was quite soothing and really very pleasant. I then shampooed and conditioned as normal and the results were simply out of this world! My hair is sooooo soft and shiny and the natural blonde in my hair pops now (I have strawberry blonde hair). I use once a week for perfect results. I will buy this over and over again! To all you blonde babes and dudes, natural or not, BUY THIS! You won't be sorry!

I bought this product on a whim after a friend (and Lush employee) recommended it.

I made the mistake of going from brunette to blonde with at home color, and it destroyed my hair. 6 months later, it's still very frizzy and no products have helped. One use and SUCH a difference. It's so much softer, lighter in the sense that the orange tones are nearly gone, and the frizz has minimized.

It is a tad difficult to put on, it's very liquidy and the jar says to put it on dry hair, but I've found it works better on wet hair, plus you use less product. I've also notice that if I color my hair, putting this on after really helps take out the orange tones and minimize the damage.

I have fine, straight, dirty blonde hair. I LOVE this product because it brings back my summer blonde highlights without looking overtly obvious. Plus, my hair has an amazing shine, texture, and smell. I use this once a week and leave it in for about 40 minutes. I find the product works best if you periodically hold a blowdryer to your hair while it is setting. Seriously, buy this.

I first have to say that I am a major LUSH junkie and love almost all products I try, and continually try new inventions. I was excited to try Marilyn this past summer because my blonde hair was getting lighter by the sun and ocean water, and I wanted to keep it that way. Additionally, from the same causes, my hair was drying out. Marilyn seemed like the perfect solution! I was disappointed. I used a third of the pot and kept the product in for forty five minutes before shampooing it out. During that time, I sat outside like a LUSHie told me I should try. The result was sad because it was like it hadn't done anything. The only thing Marilyn did for me was improve my texture a little bit. Same results with the other two times I used it to finish the pot. No change in color or softness, just my hair texture was a little thicker and less frizzy. I'm sure other products could do the same for me. I was not happy with Marilyn, unfortunately. As for the scent, it's strong, but I liked it. My roommate found it to be unpleasant, however.

I got this product as a gift for Christmas and I used it last night! I was honestly skeptical about it seeing that in the reviews about 50/50 people liked it. I went into it with low expectations and was blown away
! My poofy, dry, thick, curly mane was transformed into a silky, soft and smooth manageable mane! I'm impressed! Although I don't believe it lightened my hair drastically, I can definitely see a difference, it looks brighter to me if that makes any sense. I will be buying again and using as a deep conditioner!

P.S. the longer you keep it in the better! I kept it in under a shower cap for 3-4 hours!

Awesome product!! I've tried a bunch of other at home deep-conditioning treatments, because I have very long, fine hair that is prone to drying, especially at the ends, and I'll never buy a different hair treatment! This is less expensive when compared to a salon treatment, but a little more pricey when compared to similar at home treatments. Trust me though, its worth the couple extra bucks. First of all, how could you go wrong with all natural ingredients?? It made my hair smooth, soft, and less prone to tangles. Even my boyfriend noticed the softness, and you know how hard it is to get men to notice things! It added a brilliant shine to my hair. I have naturally dirty blonde hair with some highlights only about 2 shades lighter than my natural hair. Marilyn definitely made me more blonde in a subtle way, as promised. the change is there but not crazy noticeable. To be honest though, I did not use as much as they recommended. I also noticed that Marilyn brought out my highlights more than it changed my natural hair, so I'd say, expect more drastic results if your hair is dyed, and less results if your blonde is natural. I'm very happy with this product overall. It certainly doesn't smell bad, but its not the best smelling lush product, either. This is going to be a staple in my bathroom from now on!

I love this Product!!! It smells really good!!! I was a little hesitant at first, but the lady recommended it, and so I had to try it! It ended up being awesome, and totally worth the price. In the directions it says to use half of the jar, but it works just the same If you put just enough to cover your hair! It made my hair soft and it brightened it to make it a brighter more beautiful blonde! The only thing that worried me was the consistency. It was kind of watery at first, but it got more thick, and it ended up being ok. Overall I love this product and would buy it again!

Hair smells very good after using the treatment, but I am afraid women who have dry ends need additional conditioner to take care about them.
I have fine wavy bleached hair and ends are very fragile(( I feel my hair gaining more elasticity, flexability. Hope on some time my colour would be much more pure.
Also it is much more expensive there in Rissia. But I will buy it again.

I wanted a hair mask to make my hair smooth and shiny, and an associate at Lush actually recommended that I use Marilyn. I was wary because I know it's meant for blondes. I was afraid it would leave my hair with some weird coloring because I have medium brown hair (natural). I didn't want it to be brassy or orange-ish.

I finally worked up the courage to use it, and I fell in love! I have very long hair, but I do not think that you need a lot. I get my hair a little damp with a spray bottle and then work in about a quarter of the pot. I leave it in for as long as possible, at least 30 minutes but as long as overnight if you can. When I wash it out I don't use shampoo or conditioner, I just make sure to get it out as much as possible with cold water.

It leaves my hair so soft and perfumed! My hair looks shiny, healthy, and smooth after using Marilyn. It does not lighten my brown hair, so don't worry! It definitely helps to bring out natural highlights and undertones. It gives a lot of dimension to my hair and kind of makes it look as if I went and got a glaze at the salon.

I would use it maybe every three weeks or so, or if you feel that your hair looks dry or dull.

Marilyn isn't just for blondes!

Honestly, the only reason this doesn't get the full rating is because the scent is ever-so-slightly lackluster. However, the product is GREAT at keeping my natural blonde hair looking shinier, softer, and healthier -- even adds a bit of brightness to it, too. I usually keep it on for well over the suggested 20 minutes (more like an hour or two!)

It is totally a must-have product if you're not so good with getting trims every 4-6 weeks (like me who goes for, um, months without one!)

I bought a pot of this today, and actually used it as a conditioner after shampooing rather than a leave-in deep conditioning treatment (as recommended by my trusty sales associate). I have thick, dry hair (but my scalp gets pretty oily after a couple days), and struggle finding a balance with my shampoo/conditioner because I can't wash my hair every day--otherwise it feels like a horse's tail. I also am not a blonde, but have blonde highlights. As heavy as this is as a deep conditioning treatment, it's actually a great conditioner--moisturizing without being heavy. I applied this just on my ends (working up a little towards my crown & stopped there), and left it in for about 3-4 minutes while I washed my body before rinsing. My hair is super soft without feeling weighed down. As far as brightening my blondes, it's a very subtle difference; maybe with time it'll be noticeable, but honestly it's not a huge deal--I'm happy enough with the results I've gotten already. So if you're already a die-hard Marilyn fan or looking for a different kind of conditioner, give this a try.

Wow. Seriously. I tried this on a whim after reading previous reviews on the site. I am a natural brunette but highlight my hair. I had a horrible experience at a salon back in May that resulted in severe damage to my hair and a horrible color job. My hair was brassy, orange, and dry. I have since switched salons and have spent tons of money on color, treatments, and products to help get my hair back to healthy. I received Marilyn in the mail today after ordering at the end of the week (score one for Lush's amazingly quick shipping and handling of orders!). It was my day off work so I immediately went to work at giving it a try. I used not even a 1/4 of the tub (I have medium, shoulder-length hair that is fairly thick). I left it on about 25 minutes and let it sit while I folded laundry. Afterwards I hopped in the shower and washed my hair with my usual shampoo and conditioner (Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo and Super Rich Conditioner). I just started blow drying my hair and had to stop. I couldn't believe that I actually can see a difference in my highlights. It's time to go to the salon again, my roots have grown out a bit, and I'm starting to get some brassiness showing through again. However, this product pulled out some of the brassiness I had in my hair and really brightened my blonde quite a bit. Plus my hair feels AMAZING! I expected it to help, but I was really shocked at how well this work. I'm a believer! Thank you Marilyn!

I purchased this because it was labelled for blondes, which I am. However, it was kinda greasy! I've been using it differently than Lush suggests by applying it to my entire head and wrapping my hair in a towel to sleep on before I go to bed, then rinsing it out and shampooing/conditioning afterward. It has done wonderful things for my dry hair! It's a fabulous deep conditioner for a once a month treatment, but probably not more often. I would recommend it for those with dry hair.

I'm not a natural Blonde: my hair are bleached and very dry and damaged.
I'm not impressed by this product. It didn't do any bad to my hair, but didn't improve anything neither... My hair look exactely the same before and after a treatment, so I feel like I wasted my money.
I used this product twice a week, 30 minutes before my shower/shampoo for 2 months. I even tried to let it sit overnight on my hair, and again, I didn't notice any difference. It really didn't do anything for me.

I LOVED THIS! I bleached my hair last week, and used a deep conditioner right away, and used the same deep conditioner again after toning my hair. Then, yesterday, I put this stuff on for about 25 minutes, rinsed it out, shampooed my roots with Shimmer Lights shampoo for blondes, and then used the same hair conditioner I had used previously. This time, my hair was A LOT shinier and SO SO MUCH less tangly! I can run my hands through my hair! I will definitely keep buying this product! ALSO: I personally loved the smell. I found the chamomile aspect very soothing. But that's just me!

I almost always try new products with Lush, but every time I empty a tub of this stuff, I replace it with the same. I'm about about the darkest blonde, so my color doesn't change much, but I find the light penetrates my hair more, when I use this product, if that makes any sense.

I'm a guy with a medium-long men's cut. I'm about a medium-blond. I don't even know what it really did, but my hair is kinda glowing, and seems a little blonder, but not necessarily... a different color? It's a really neat product, I'm absolutely going to use this again. My hair is super soft normally, and I even noticed a difference in how nourished it felt. Pretty easy to use, as long as you don't get drippy globs all over the floor.
