So, let me begin by saying that I have fairly oily hair. Typically what this means for me is that my hair only looks good for the first day after washing. By bedtime of that first day, or by the time I wake up in the morning, my hair is an oily mess. What this usually lead to was several days of ponytails for my in-between wash days. I had tried other dry shampoos, but they left my hair smelling of chemicals and crusty with product. Not so with No Drought! It is a loose powder that poofs out of the bottle either into your hand or straight onto your hair. If you have no brush on hand, puffing the powder into your hand and sifting it through your hair works just fine, but by far the best method is to poof it straight onto your hair and comb it through. Though it is true the powder can get a bit messy it only seems to be that way if you try and get it onto your hands. There seems to be less room for error when you apply it straight to your hair.
My dear husband, who is not known for his perceptive nature when it comes to my beauty habits, told me today that my hair has been looking really great for the past two days. Which is funny, since I haven't washed my hair in three! So, in his eyes at least, it seems my hair looks better with No Drought than it does when I use my normal shampoo!
P.S.--It smells lovely. The scent is light and faintly citrusy, and it definitely takes away any unclean smells.

I was SO excited to hear that Lush came out with a dry shampoo since I had been using store brand dry shampoos for a while. I found the store brands to be FULL of chemicals and I disliked the synthetic smells. SO I swiped up a bottle of No Drought as soon as it hit the stores. It works super well, making your hair look fresh and clean as well as adding mounds of volume to my thin hair. The only complaint i have is the bottle makes it really hard to apply without accidentally dropping a small pile of snow like white powder in one spot. I understand that Lush cant use spray bottles but maybe putting it in a dusting brush container like some other dry shampoos would be a good alternative. Lastly the smell is kind of meh... like lime Popsicles, not my favorite Lush smell but also not bad. I wish they had a muskier or even mint variation. All in all I prefer this over the commercial brands by far!

This product did not work for me. My hair is long, bushy and curly. I couldn't get it out, even with tons of brushing and shaking. I was left with dusty, gummy hair. But I have had this problem with all dry shampoos, so it is my hair that is the problem, and not the dry shampoo.
This is a really innovative product that would likely work great on shorter, straighter hair. And it smells great, like lime lifesavers!

I love this dry shampoo! It smells great and its perfect for in-between washes. I tend to have oily hair, so I find myself using this product a lot. The only thing I don't like about it, is that my hair looks a bit grey after using it, so make sure you brush any excess product out.

Better than my aerosol dry shampoo
Pros
- Absorbs oil
- Adds texture
- Adds Volume
- Smells Good
Cons
- White Residue
Best Uses
- In between washes
Bought this last week and have used it a couple times now. I'm no newbie to dry shampoo and have used several different kinds. Up to this point I've only used aerosol kinds and they work but not as well as this. This also smells 100 times better than any other brand I've used.
I know a lot of people dislike the packaging but I've found a good way to apply this powder. I puff some into my palm and use a big, cheap makeup brush, dab it in my palm, then dab on my scalp (I part my hair starting at one ear-apply, then part a little farther over-apply, etc. til I've reached the other ear.) Then I let the powder sit for awhile (while I do my makeup) then rub my scalp and brush my hair to get rid of any white residue.
This product absorbs most of my oil and allows me to work a little bit of extra volume into my hair (I have pretty flat, thin hair when I straighten it).
I DO recommend this product using the method I described.

I was given this as a gift, and I was overjoyed. It smells amazing and it was inexpensive too. I use it on days when I don't wash my hair, and it balances out the oils in my hair, so I am not to oily or dry. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Not just for hair!

Cons

I bought this when I had my hair a lovely shade of bubblegum pink, hoping that I could lengthen the days between washings so my color didn't fade as fast. It worked decently, but I was a little turned off by how messy it was to apply so I fell out of the habit of using it.
Fast forward a few months and I've got nearly a full bottle in my cabinet that I didn't know what to do with. I've been battling oily skin for years now and even though my Lush routine keeps my skin clear, it doesn't keep my face from getting oily slick by bedtime. Looking at the ingredients and doing a little research on the Lush site, I put two and two together and thought to myself, 'hey, could this be used on my face?'
Seriously, people, it works. I poured a measure of it into one of my empty black pots and used a big makeup brush to apply it. Works like a charm! Better than buying those stupid expensive blotting papers, that's for sure.

Miracle powder
Pros

Before I found No Drought, I had to wash my hair every. single. day. (I have tried several methods to wean my scalp off of the shampoo-too dry-scalp produces more oil-need more shampoo cycle. Nothing works. I just produce a lot of oil.) The problem is, my hair is also bleached and cut in a short, funky style that looks better when it's dirty - but not greasy/flat! No Drought gives me that dry volume I've been searching for with other products. I use it every other day (still can't go more than 48 hours without a full wash). I get so many compliments on my hair on the days I use No Drought!

Caution
I just got mine in the mail today and I have a warning: Open the sealed lid very slowly. When I popped the seal I got a HUGE burst of product all over myself! I will say, it smells great! And once I got the appropriate amount from my shirt, it seems to work well.

Great for morning runs!
By Kriss
from Honolulu, HI
This product is great for anyone who has oily hair. I like to exercise in the mornings, but I don't like the deal with washing my hair and styling it for work as it takes too much time. Instead, I use No Drought to help me out with time. A lot of people complain about the container, but it's easiest to use by screwing off the top and tapping as much as needed into your palm. From there, you can apply it either with your fingers or with a kabuki brush. I prefer to use a brush to save time. It works miracles on oily hair. My only problem is that when I travel, it tends to spill out. It's not sealed as well as it could be because of the top.

Packaging isn't right for product
Pros
- Absorbs oil
- Innovative
- Smells Good
Cons
- Dries hair
- Harder for black hair
- Messy
- Packaging
Best Uses
- Between hair washes
I really like the concept of this product. The actual product is okay. Maybe my hair isn't oily enough to use it. When I want to skip washes and my hair gets a little greasy is when I use it. First of all I have black hair so It's extremely difficult to blend it. Second, the packaging is for a liquid product and this is a powder - it should be in a dusting power package. Otherwise, I like it and think it's a good product. Maybe make it a little darker, and change the packaging and I would buy it again.

Wanted to wash it out
Pros
Cons
- Hard to apply
- Turns hair grey
Best Uses

I'm sorry, but I hated this stuff. It was really hard to apply. And then even after brushing out a bunch, it made my hair look grey and I have medium brown hair with blonde highlights.
It made my hair feel like there was gunk in it and I really wanted to wash it out. And I brushed and brushed it, but it just felt weird. Have to say, I've not used other dry shampoos to compare.
The only time I think I would use this, is if I was doing an updo and wanted to thicken my hair. It def. made the hair feel dry and thick, which would be good for updos and wedding hair.

Good Product!
Pros
- Absorbs oils
- Smells Good
Cons
- Messy
- Packaging
Best Uses
- Between showers
- Oily hair
I had never used dry shampoo before picking up No Drought, and I was skeptical at first, but this product has definitely won me over. My hair tends to get oily, but if I shower every day, my hair turns into a nightmare. This product lets me skip washing my hair for a day and keeps it from feeling disgusting!
The only problem with this product is the awkward packaging. When I open it, it's hard not to get the powder all over the place. It's very messy too, so I don't use it after I get dressed or while standing on any carpeted floor. If you can deal with these things, the product is definitely worth it.

Pretty good
Pros
- Absorbs oil well
- Bottle lasts long
- Reduces shine
- Smells Great
- Volumizing
Cons
- Becomes oily quickly
- Clogged bottle
- Very messy
Best Uses
- Day after hair wash
- In a rush
I've always had oily hair due to washing my hair everyday for years. My friends and hairstylist told me to wash it only every other day, but I hated it because my hair would be SO oily the next day. This dry shampoo is a great alternative to completely taking out the oils in your hair by washing it with a liquid shampoo. I mainly use it when I don't have time to wash my hair as well as when I know I won't be out for too long because your hair does start to get even more oily several hours after applying the dry shampoo. My only major gripe with this product is that it's messy. Product gets on the floor, on my shirt, my shoulders, and on my face. It's a good thing there's a lot of product inside the bottle.

Excited; but disappointed
Pros

I always love Lush products, and have never been disappointed in the past. After trying all sorts of commercial and DIY remedies. I was ecstatic to try Lush's. I had particularly greasy hair when i went to the store so I thought it was a perfect time to test out the product. The lady at the store helped me determine how much I needed, and she guided me on how to massage it into my scalp. I bought a bottle thinking that I would love it just as I loved all my other Lush products, but after an hour - my hair seemed to feel worse. I don't know if my hair being thin, long, and dyed has anything to do with it. But I saw a change for the worse. I had to return this product.

Ultimate LUSH Staple

- No grease residue
- Smells Great
- Smells refreshing
- Volumizing
- Works easily
Cons
- Packaging
Best Uses

I've used many other dry shampoos on the market, I've even attempted to just use baby powder. I used to use the spray bottle of Tresemme but it would leave my hair even more greasy after an hour. Baby powder wouldn't brush out of my hair, and I hate the smell of baby powder. When I saw that LUSH had a dry shampoo I got excited. And after the first day I tried it, I loved it and realized even if my sister and I share this bottle, there's no way we will be going through it any time soon. Best [$] spent at that store so far!

Smells nice, works okay.
I hate washing my hair every day because it makes me scalp really dry and itchy. Enter the dry shampoo! I've tried a million different kinds and most of them were in aerosol cans and leaked after 1 or 2 uses. I would use baby powder instead but I HATEEEE the smell of baby powder.
No Drought Dry Shampoo smells lemony and fresh and makes my hair look a lot less greasy so I don't have to wash it as often.
That being said, I'm a little sad that the container exploded the second I pulled the little plastic tab off the bottle. Like, literally EXPLODED all over my clothes and face. My eyelashes were white with powder. Thankfully I didn't lose very much of the product and it wasn't too hard to clean up, but be careful opening it right after you recieve it.

Great for in-between showers
Pros
- Convenient
- Sulfate-free
Cons
- A little messy
Best Uses
- On the go
- Short on time
I work overnight, 9.5 hour shifts. When I get home, the last thing I want to do is make an effort to get in the shower every day. I force myself; but my hair ends up dry or if I skip a day, really greasy and smelly. A co-worker had recommended a dry shampoo, but the brand she recommended was more expensive and didn't have the best reviews. So I tried this one.
The application isn't the most fun; it's like trying to get baby powder to stay on my head. I did get some of the shampoo on my sink counter and floor. Perhaps with more practice I will do better. I think this is just a problem in general with dry shampoos and not this brand alone.
The oil and smell of sweat in my hair is gone. My hair has a little bit of volume too as a result of application. I've very pleased with my first experience of a dry shampoo.

Amazing!
Pros
- Long Lasting
- Not greasy or dry
- Smells Good
- Volumizing
- works
Cons
- A little messy
- Residue sometimes
Best Uses
I use this whenever I'm running late and don't have time to shower! I just sprinkle it all over the top of my head and leave it for a minute or two to "settle in" and then I work it in with my fingers, really rubbing it in, and then I use a brush to brush my hair. Sometimes your hair will have a little bit of white powder that is hard to get out, but just keep rubbing your hair and brushing it and it will eventually just fade into your hair. This product is so great, it looks like I just hopped out of the shower, and no one can tell that I haven't showered for a day or two! It smells awesome, and I mean AWESOME.Also, it's great value - at first I was hesitant because I'm on a tight budget and [$] is a lot! But I've had this for two months now and I have probably only used about 1/10 of it! I can easily imagine this lasting me another year and a half! This is a must-have product for me and I will definitely be repurchasing, considering most of the other dry shampoos I have bought felt sticky, greasy, or just plain didn't work, or were flawed in some other way. This is the first dry shampoo that I have really been happy with. I would completely recommend this to anyone who often finds themselves pulling on a beanie to cover up oily hair.

I have dark, dark brown hair (nearly black) and it works well for me. If I'm feeling particularly self-conscious about the powder showing, I mix a tiny bit of cocoa powder in with the No Drought to darken it up. Also, if you're unsure about committing to buy it, I would suggest trying it in the store (if you can) or even using a similarly colored/textured item to test it out! For this, I'd say a little bit of powdered sugar would be a reasonable substitute - just to check on the color, that is.Answered on 7/11/2012 by Alyssa S. from Portland, ORA:
I have dark brown hair and can use this product. I do notice a difference in the shade of my hair on days I use it, but it's not obvious and doesn't look bad.Answered on 5/30/2012 by EmmiDahling from York, PAA:
I have chestnut brown hair and it seems to work fine. You have to be very gentle when sprinkling it on so that you don't dump it all in one spot and once you brush through, it isn't noticeable. It works much better than any other dry shampoo I've used.Answered on 4/24/2012 by Spaceymacy101 from The Woodlands, TXA:
It does work on darker hair - I have very dark brown, almost black, hair. You will have to do a little more brushing or rubbing to get it to blend in, but it does eventually disappear. I read a review from someone that said she wouldn't suggest it for dark CLEAN hair, because it needs something to soak it up, but I have used this product many times with success.Answered on 4/19/2012 by probablyjess from St. Louis, MOA:

It might make it slightly grey. However, that is just blending it with your hands. If you want maximum blending, use a bristle brush. It should be fine then.Answered on 3/13/2012 by Tim from VirginiaA:
Yes it does! I have blackish-brown hair and use this couple times a week. Massage it into your scalp and then brush your hair well--that's what works for me.Answered on 3/9/2012 by Lush Lover from IndianaA:
It does work on darker hair but I would recommend if you have dark hair to keep a natural bristle brush handy. Put some No Drought in your hair, as close to the roots as possible then let it sit for a couple of minutes (while you brush your teeth or something) then comb out the area you put the product with the natural bristle brush. Hope this helps!Answered on 3/3/2012 by Jenni from Salt Lake City, UTA:
If your wondering if it leaves a gray like color on your hair, it doesnt bc i have dark brown hair and i use it. Now if your wondering if it removes the excess oil properly then I have to say that it depends on the amount of product you use (more is better).Answered on 2/24/2012 by MD CP from Santo Domingo

Brush your hair first, making sure it's free of tangles. Then distribute a light dusting of the No Drought evenly through the hair and shake it through to ensure coverage. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, so it can absorb sebum from the hair. Finally, brush through the hair again to remove the powder. Voila! Fresh hair once more!Answered on 2/21/2012 by Megan from LUSH
