When I first walked into the Lush store, Northern Lights immediately caught my eye. The soap itself looks like a huge neon yellow brick, with some florescent green here and there. It's hard to tear your eyes away from, since it practically screams, "Look at me! Look at me!" I bought a small chunk (about $6.OO worth) to take home.
Upon cutting apart this soap, I realized that it was one of LUSH's creamier ones. I didn't have to run my knife under warm water or anything to get a nice, clean cut in the soap.
As expected, the lather wasn't anything crazy. It was a pleasant lather, but I liked best the citrusy scent and squeaky clean sensation as I rinsed it off. Northern LIghts was definitely not drying for my normal-to-dry skin, although those with very, very dry skin or who have suffered from eczema may still need to apply lotion after their shower.
The morning after I woke up, I could still smell a distinct woodsy, musky scent, kind of like a man's cologne. Yes, I did keep on sniffing myself repeatedly, because it was so addicted. Was it as citrusy as the soap smelled in the shower and packaging? No, it seemed like the scent had evolved overnight into something more fresh and woodsy.
Northern Lights is a must-have soap, both for men and women. Its muskier isn't too harsh for females like me, either, because it still possesses a delicate concentration of fragrance.

well the smell is nice and clean, BUT it leaves a residue. Not sure if i'm just not used to lush soaps, and thats the problem, or if this one is particularly bad. It really needs more moisturinzing properties...
I use it on parts that need a thorough cleaning, or could stand to be dried out a little: armpits, inner thighs, feet, hands. at that rate my bar should last forever!
i allways replace the moisture lost due to this product when i'm in the shower by rubbing a little conditioner over the areas (something i do anyway, for my whole body to replace moisture lost due to showering in general). So i really dont notice serious dryness when i get out of the shower-but I probably would if i didnt take this extra step.
it's latering ability is about avarage.
i will not be buying this soap again...

I use this in the morning before work, I feel like Bilbo Baggins getting ready to run out the door for an adventure lol The cypress and lime scents are super refreshing. I haven't noticed any residue, but my shower floor is concrete so I don't have much to go on. The soap can be a little drying, especially since I get dried out in the winter pretty easily anyway- but I could see this working really well in the summer (and I'd love to see a scent similar to this for summer soooo...). As long as I moisturize it's not really a problem though. My favorite morning soap to date! ^_^ So sad its seasonal though...

I must admit, I was apprehensive about buying this soap, because I'm not really a fan of strong pine scents. But the numerous positive reviews won me over, and I was pleasantly surprised! The soap smells very strongly of lime/lemon freshness, with just a hint of a woodsy, pine scent. It is such a fresh smell that it may be my new favorite lush bar soap! And the color is so bright! The bar literally looked like it was glowing when I unwrapped it. I hope Lush decides to keep this as a permanent soap!

I was instantly drawn to this product because of its bright colors. I've never seen a soap so vivid before and I knew I had to give it a try. As soon as I opened the box the scent hit me right away. The citrus was very strong and it reminded me a bit of lemonade. I used this product the morning after I opened it and I have to say that it woke me right out of my morning fog. The scent isn't overpowering on your skin, but the lather is very intoxicating. It left me feeling clean, but it did leave my skin a bit dry. The scent doesnt last very long after you use it.

I have to admitt, that this is a soap I would never dreamed of purchasing/trying. The scent description and some of the reviews describe this as what could be interpretted as a Pine-sol scent desription. This is NOT the case! I got this as a sample and I am HOOKED! I just ordered some! I am actually begining to wish I ordered more. It does NOT resemble pine sol, but at the same time as a pine, citrus, musky, and earthy scent that is devine. My husband loves it too! It is so great for women and men. I wish Lush would sell year round and make a fragrance!

The color of this product is what first drew me in, then i smelled it and was hypnotized. Its like nothing I've ever smelled before...and whats even better is that it actually leaves my skin smelling EXACTLY is the soap does. The amount of times I've used a soap or a wash and my skin smelled nothing like the scent its supposed to have is disappointing. The only thing that bummed me out was that it left my skin feeling a little on the dry side. (hint hint...you guys should make a lotion that smells like this!!)

This is one of my favorite soaps, for when I want my body to feel very clean. After I workout this soap is great because it smells great and it gets you squeaky clean. However I don't use this soap everyday because it leaves some residue and sort of dries out my skin. I normally cut of a small chunk and use it up chunk by chunk so it doesn't melt in the shower. Overall this is a great soap!!!!!

This is hands down the best smelling product in the store! The soap gives a rich lather with my loofah in the shower and the smell lingers well after. I had to buy many chunks of this soap to last me through the year, I wish this was offered year round. The soap is not drying, I use it for every shower and my skin has not gotten cracked and dry like with regular soap. This soap is a keeper, and also looks beautiful in the soap dish!

This is my second favorite soap LUSH makes, coming in second to Snow Cake! I absolutely love the way it looks, how it smells, the texture, and the clean feeling it leaves behind. It doesn't smell so much like pine to me, but more citrusy/lemon-lime. I tried using it in the shower before and it just wasn't my thing, but I found that works best as a handsoap in your kitchen or bathroom! I've never had a problem with the soap lathering up like I have read in some other reviews. The only problem with this soap is a small one (otherwise it would have been given 5 stars) and that is the visible residue it leaves behind in soap dishes, in skins, and on shower floors. It's not a huge deal, but you will notice it over time. This leads me to believe that it might also leave residue on one's hands. So just be sure to rinse really well. This soap tends to be a little drying and I would suggest having hand cream or lotion handy after use. If you want to intensify the smell, use Lemony Flutter hand cream.

I got this as a sample but didn't love the fragrance. It doesn't smell BAD, just not what I would chose for myself. As far as being cleansing or moisturizing, I'd say this soap is just OK.
