Splash water on your face and apply about a teaspoonful of scrub using an upward, circular motion to exfoliate and refresh the skin. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and pat dry. Ocean Salt can also be used on other parts of the body including chest, back, arms and legs.
Coconut cream and sea salt scrub
Washing with Ocean Salt is like taking your face on a trip to the seaside for an invigorating splash in the water. The minerals in sea salt soften as it scrubs away dirt, dead skin and blockages for a bright, fresh face. We mix in fresh avocado and coconut to hydrate thirsty skin, leaving it balanced and soft. The cleansing effects of lime and vodka are ideal for blocked pores, blackheads or blemishes and leave skin visibly brightened. It's no wonder Ocean Salt is so enormously popular!
- Suitable for all skin types: Ocean Salt is beneficial for combination to dull and oily skin, and works well to occasionally exfoliate dry skin.
- Our most exfoliating cleanser: Ocean Salt contains a combination of coarse and fine sea salt.
- For an invigorating scrub: Salt and citrus oils can cause irritation for sensitive skin types. If you’re quite sensitive, we suggest using a gentler product.

Q:I have used dark angels and recently ran out of the product. Its in high demand because it is out of stock online. I was thinking about trying this particular one instead, had anyone tried this after using dark angels? And if so how did your skin take it?Asked on 7/31/2014 by Help from Oklahoma
Q:I am confused about one of the ingredients. In the list of ingredients, it says it contains coconut fat, in the description to the right is says it has coconut cream, and one of the Lush employees who answered a question said coconut oil. Which of the three is used in this product? Also what purpose does lanolin and glycerine serve?Asked on 7/29/2014 by anonymous
Q:I am curious about how the avocado butter is made. In the ingredient list, it lists "fresh avocado butter." I know that avocado does not produce a natural butter and thus is hydrogenated to become a butter. How is your avocado butter produced?Asked on 7/29/2014 by anonymous
Q:How long is this product good for? I can't find the expiration date on my container.Asked on 7/11/2014 by Bianca
A:I did some research and discovered that the shelf life for this is 14 months.Answered on 7/11/2014 by Anonymous
Q:I'm suspicious about the coconut and avocado fat in this. Does it really not clog pores?Asked on 5/26/2014 by em
A:This is my favorite Lush product! It does wonders for my skin; clogged pores have not been a problem.Answered on 5/27/2014 by Anonymous
Q:Does this product need to be refrigerated?Asked on 4/27/2014 by Camille from Brookfield, CT

A:It doesn't need to be. I haven't tried it, but I bet it feels GREAT cold during the summer.Answered on 4/28/2014 by Anonymous
A:No refrigeration necessary. Just keep it in the shower.

Q:Can this product be used all over the body. I have used it on my face no problem but i decided to use it on my chest and arms to exfoliate and I developed tiny bumps that itch like crazy.Asked on 3/20/2014 by Dominique from United States
A:Ocean Salt can be used both on the face and body, however, if you are finding it causes irritation to a certain part of the body we recommend you discontinue using it in that area. The skin on the face is much different from the skin on the body, so sometimes what works for one area might not be the same for another.Answered on 3/26/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:I know I use it on my face as well but I also use it on my body. Sometimes the water being too hot can irritate the skin. If the water is not too hot then I would discontinue the use of it on the body.

A:Its odd that you seem to be able to use this in your face and not your arms. I would speak to your Health Care Provider about your reaction before using it again.Answered on 3/20/2014 by Anonymous
A:Yes! I have used it on rough spots and places where my skin is extra
dry. I love this product!Answered on 3/20/2014 by Anonymous
A:If it irritates your skin in any way, definitely discontinue use on that
part of your body. However, I've only ever used it from the neck down and
LOVE it. It's one of my favorite LUSH products.Answered on 3/20/2014 by Anonymous
Q:What color is this?Asked on 3/5/2014 by me
A:Because each batch is handmade, some batch variations can occur. Generally it is a mixture of blue and white.Answered on 3/11/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT
Q:Should i use this after my regular face wash or after?Asked on 2/24/2014 by Sonyy from Dallas, Tx
A:Ocean Salt is a facial cleanser, so it would be used in place of another face wash!Answered on 3/4/2014 by Brandy from LUSH
A:Use a regular face wash daily, and for best results use the Ocean Salt
Cleanser once or twice per week to exfoliate the skin, following with one
of Lush's Fresh Face Masks :)Answered on 2/27/2014 by Anonymous
A:I would use this as your face wash. It tends to be a great all over face wash. The sea salt really opens the pores so it can sting a little if you have any cuts or open sores on your face. I absolutely love how smooth it makes my face feel!

A:If either product is new, I would try switching off to make sure the combo of products doesn't irritate your skin.
I like to use it first, then follow up with my regular face wash and moisturizer.Answered on 2/25/2014 by Anonymous
A:I actually use it in replacement of my regular face wash about 3 times a week. I find that it takes off grime just as well (maybe not mascara) but skin doesn't need to be exfoliated every day. Hope this helps!

Q:Hi.... Can I use Ocean Salt on my face daily??? I have oily face... and if I used it one time aweek or twice as you recommended is that ok if i use different cleaner during in the rest of the days of the week??Asked on 2/16/2014 by lena from iraq
A:I also have oily skin and I use this product everyday. I usually use a "regular" face wash at night and use Ocean Salt in the morning so my skin is exfoliated, smooth and ready for the day!Answered on 3/28/2014 by durbanpoison from Los Angeles, CA
A:Ocean Salt can be used daily as long as your face isn't too sensitive. It is quite exfoliating, but a lot of people use it every day, so it's completely dependent on how it works for you. If you'd like to switch things up, it's also okay to use a different facial cleanser along with Ocean Salt, as again many of our customers do.Answered on 3/21/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
Q:What LUSH moisturizer(s) are best paired with this product?Asked on 2/14/2014 by Kingsley from Green Bay, WI
A:Ocean Salt is a great cleanser because it is really suited for most people's skin, therefore, the moisturizer you choose really depends on your skin's needs. Feel free to either pop by a LUSH shop or contact our customer care team, as we would be happy to give you a consultation!Answered on 3/26/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:My favorite lotions are Dream Cream and Coco Lotion, though I found out recently Lush discontinued the Coco Lotion for some reason. The Charity Pot lotion is pretty great as well.Answered on 2/14/2014 by Anonymous
Q:will this scrub work with other non-lush products, without over drying and irritating my skin?Asked on 1/27/2014 by Skin beauty nut
A:Ocean Salt shouldn't dry your skin out, as it contains loads of moisturizing ingredients like avocado and coconut oil. Although there is a high sea salt content, we balance any drying effects with these super-hydrating ingredients!Answered on 3/21/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
Q:Would this cleanser be okay to use without a moisturizer afterwords?Asked on 1/17/2014 by Kingsley from Green Bay, WI
A:We would suggest following up with a moisturizer just because this is a very clarifying cleanser and there are a lot of great benefits provided by moisturizers. However, if you feel you don't need one afterwards, feel free to skip it.Answered on 3/8/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:In summer I don't need a moisturizer, but use one in winter. I'm 59 years old with sensitive skin. Ocean Salt doesn't dry your face, though. I love it!

Q:Can you use this product on your lips?Asked on 12/30/2013 by Dean Winchester
A:We would not recommend this product for use on the lips as it would be too abrasive because of the large salt crystals and citrus juices. A lip scrub would be a better option as sugar granules are smaller and more suitable for the sensitive skin on your lips.Answered on 2/26/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:I use on my whole face & body, wet lips first and use sparingly as not to over scrub. lush does have a lip scrub if u want something that tastes better than sea salt LOL ;)

Q:I asked for a free sample of this at LUSH and they gave it to me. I heard it clears up acne pretty well. I do not have any acne anymore, Herbalism cleared it up perfectly! But I do have one issue. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but i have little bumps on my cheeks. I think they're clogged black heads? I'm not sure. When i first washed my face with this, the little bumps on my cheeks stung like crazy. I washed it off. I use Ocean Salt maybe 2 times a week. Every time i wash my face with Ocean Salt, the little bumps on my face sting. Is this normal? Do you think its helping getting rid of them? They just won't fade away. I don't know what to do anymore. Let me know. Thanks. Have a beautiful day!Asked on 12/2/2013 by BrendaBabyface
A:When introducing a new product to your facial care regimen, your skin might have a mild reaction. This is often a case of your skin getting used to the new product, but if it persists, or causes any discomfort, that definitely sounds like a sign that this product might not be a perfect match for your skin.Answered on 2/25/2014 by Brandy from LUSH
A:Not sure about the little red bumps but I am sure of this. Skincare should
not sting. If it stings something is wrong. First I recommend a visit to a
dermatologist. Find out what the little red bumps are. You could have acne
rosacea or any number of other skin conditions and there are treatments for
those but you have to know what you're dealing with. Second, switch to a
gentler cleanser like fresh farmacy or aqua mirabilis, something with lots
of calamine to combat redness and sooth your skin. In my experience acne
goes away when your skin is in balance and it's properly treated with the
right skin treatment for you. It doesn't require harsh skin cleansers or
heavy exfoliation and if you're doing something that hurts you're overdoing
it.Answered on 12/3/2013 by Anonymous
A:Perhaps your face is too sensitive to the exfoliants, try the Tea Tree water toner followed by the Celestial moisturizer and the irritation as well as the bumps will most likely go away.Answered on 12/3/2013 by Anonymous
Q:if i have open wounds on my face (popped pimples, etc.), will this product sting?Asked on 11/30/2013 by Tally from usa
A:This product may sting a little bit as it's one of our more intense exfoliators. It does tend to depend on the condition on ones skin. I would recommend you try our Grease Lighting if you are looking for a lighter product which works well for blemishes.Answered on 12/8/2013 by Anonymous
A:Alas, I am well past the popped pimple stage but this does have salt in it so I would think it would sting. I don't use it if I have any irritation, sunburn, etc. I would let your skin rest a bit and then resume use.Answered on 11/30/2013 by Anonymous
Q:How long does it keep? Can i wait to use it for a while?Asked on 11/21/2013 by molley1999
A:The Ocean Salt cleanser has a 14 month shelf life from the time it was made, which leaves plenty of time to use the product. All of our pots have made on and use by dates on them so it's easy to see when they expire!Answered on 11/28/2013 by Anonymous
A:Yes, it keeps well. I live in the boonies of Maine, so I order it & get a few at a time. Once it it's opened, the grains of salt will melt a bit, but stay good until the end of the jar. The ones that stay closed are fine & are still nice and gritty when you open them. I love this product! I have very sensitive skin & am 59. Keeps my skin happy with no irritation. Smells great, too.

Q:Is Ocean Salt safe to use during pregnancy? Will the alcohol absorb through the skin?Asked on 10/17/2013 by Anissa the Architect from El Paso, TX
A:The Cetearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol that is derived from coconut oil. Very commonly used in moisturizers. It is definitely safe.Answered on 4/29/2014 by Amanda the engineer from tulsa, ok
A:Ocean Salt should be safe to use as we mostly natural ingredients with this product. But I would highly recommend that you provide your doctor with our ingredient list for the item and have them confirm whether or not it's safe to use!Answered on 12/8/2013 by Anonymous
Q:i have lots of blackhead and cystic acne. for my skin type, should i use this or the let the good times roll?Asked on 10/5/2013 by lushie17 from United States
A:The Ocean Salt cleanser and the Let the Good Times Roll have very similar properties. They are both good for combination skin types and exfoliate the skin thoroughly. I would recommend that you use Ocean Salt because the antibacterial effects of lime and vodka are ideal for blocked pores, blackheads or blemishes and leave skin visibly brightened. I hope this helps!Answered on 11/15/2013 by Anonymous
A:I would not suggest using this if you have cystic acne, for it may be too harsh on your skin. I would try something that is more soothing for your skin, yet still exfoliates your skin.
If you have a lush store nearby, go into the story and they will be more than glad to help you find a skin regimen :)Answered on 10/18/2013 by Marie from Los Angele, CA
A:I have not ever tried let the good times roll, but I LOVE ocean salt!! I am on my second tub. I don't use it every day, maybe two times a week, but it smells wonderful, and makes my face smooth. Good luck!

Q:does this product remove makeup?Asked on 8/26/2013 by bridget from United States
A:Ocean Salt is less effective at removing makeup than some of our other products, however, some do find success with it. We recommend pairing it with Ultrabland or 9-5 to help remove makeup!Answered on 10/9/2013 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:Yes! I use Fresh Farmacy first, then Ocean Salt. I have VERY sensitive skin, but it can get oily & dull & most scrubs tear my face apart. While Ocean Salt is abrasive, the salt grains round off quickly & the other ingredients help to cut through oil & dead skin & ick. I am 59 and get lots of compliments about my skin. Both products don't dry my skin & it is soft & comfy when I'm done. No zits, blackheads or dull skin. No help for wrinkles, though! Hope this helps & Ocean Salt works as well for you as it does for me. Deb
