Splash water on your face and apply about a teaspoonful of scrub using an upward, circular motion to exfoliate and refresh the skin. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and pat dry. Ocean Salt can also be used on other parts of the body including chest, back, arms and legs.
Coconut cream and sea salt scrub
Washing with Ocean Salt is like taking your face on a trip to the seaside for an invigorating splash in the water. The minerals in sea salt soften as it scrubs away dirt, dead skin and blockages for a bright, fresh face. We mix in fresh avocado and coconut to hydrate thirsty skin, leaving it balanced and soft. The cleansing effects of lime and vodka are ideal for blocked pores, blackheads or blemishes and leave skin visibly brightened. It's no wonder Ocean Salt is so enormously popular!
- Suitable for all skin types: Ocean Salt is beneficial for combination to dull and oily skin, and works well to occasionally exfoliate dry skin.
- Our most exfoliating cleanser: Ocean Salt contains a combination of coarse and fine sea salt.
- For an invigorating scrub: Salt and citrus oils can cause irritation for sensitive skin types. If you’re quite sensitive, we suggest using a gentler product.

Q:Hi I recently submitted a question about the pricing difference between teh UK and USA on this very same item. I did use currency conversation and even bought the UK one myself, so I know it's 50% cheaper than the US version, same size. I don't understand why it is , conversation rate taking into consideration, 50% mroe expensive than the U.K. Even comparing the ingredients and the particular order they are in which I know denoted the quantity of each ingredient it doesn't make sense. 7.75 pounds to USD is about 11.95 USD and currently this small size in the US runs at 21.95 USD. Same quantity too. 120g small size is equal to the 4.3 oz. I know dimensional analysis conversions. So I'm wondering what the difference is then? I've watched youtube review after review and honestly I don't care if they smell different, or look different, and that seems to be the only major difference from reviewers. I don't live near a LUSH store so buying a $21.95 cleanser is out of hte question to try out.Asked on 3/21/2015 by Cheesecake Goddess from Ithaca, NY
A:I believe the answer lies in the alcohol. It appears that the infusion in one recipe of self-preserving and the one non-alcohol free version are more expensive because the infusion process is expensive. The self-preserving non-alcoholic one being infused with Lime extract in Glycerine. While the other two are infused with Lime extract in Vodka. We do not have an alcohol-free version in North America. Only the regular Ocean Salt and the Ocean salt self-preserving, which are the same price comparatively as the UK Ocean Salt and Ocean Salt self-preserving.Answered on 3/21/2015 by Alexander from LUSH Direct
Q:Would this product be good for cellulite? Rub Rub Rub has been recommended for cellulite, but I was wondering which one would be better. Ocean Salt kind of terrifies me because of all the harsh and painful reviews!Asked on 2/21/2015 by Ami from Topeka, KS
A:I have never had a painful experience with Ocean Salt -- it's actually one of my favorites, I hope that you give it a try sometime. As for cellulite I suggest using something like Buffy because it moisturizes and buffs your skin!Answered on 3/21/2015 by Pauline from LUSH Digital
A:Contrary to most reviews, I personally find Ocean Salt to be pretty gentle and not harsh in the least, but it really depends on your skin and sensitivity level. That being said, I don't think using Ocean Salt would help much with cellulite since that develops beneath the surface of the skin and this would only exfoliate the top layer.Answered on 3/13/2015 by Endlessly from Minnesota
Q:I have combination skin, dry on my cheekbones but very oily on the rest of my face. Should I buy Ocean Salt or Mask of Magnaminty?Asked on 2/13/2015 by Dana
A:Either would work for your skin, Ocean Salt is lovely product because that is great for all skin types and is one of my favorite products. Mask of Magnaminty is a great for tightening and exfoliating your skin, which you will have to leave on your skin for 10 minutes. So it depends on your lifestyle, I usually have them both in my bathroom for when I have time or if I feel like pampering myself.Answered on 3/21/2015 by Anonymous
A:I've never tried the Mask of Magnaminty, but I LOVE Ocean Salt and would
recommend it over any other skin product. I have oily skin all over, but
because it's a wonderfully thick and dense scrub, I think it would take
care of your dry skin areas as well. This is a staple in my skin care and
I'll never be without it. It smells so fresh, like ocean water. I've used a
bath bomb (Big Blue) that smells just like it as well. I use them both
together so my whole body is soft and I can pretend I'm at the beach. Good
luck!Answered on 2/16/2015 by Anonymous
A:I have never used Mask of Magnaminty. I think either one would be fine, it looks like Mask of Magnaminty can be used everyday. I do not use Ocean Salt daily, maybe 2-3x week.

Q:This product came with lots of salt on the top but seemed like more of a cream underneath, should we mix it before using it?Asked on 1/25/2015 by Ellie from NC
A:Hi there! Thanks for your question!
Yes, I would recommend stirring it with your finger! That is so the salt can be mixed into the cleanser! :)
Hope this helps!Answered on 1/26/2015 by Anonymous
A:Yes- you definitely want to mix the salt and the cream together

Q:Is this product better to use at night, or in the morning, or both?Asked on 1/13/2015 by Dana from New Jersey
A:Hi there! Thanks for your question.
Overall - Ocean Salt is such a fantastic cleanser it really doesnt matter when you use it. If you want to cleanse before bed so your skin can relax, that is a good choice, but if you want a fresh start to your morning you can also use it then, too! It is totally fine to use it once a day but I wouldnt use it more then twice a day if you use it everyday - you dont want to over-exfoliate your skin either! :)
Hope this helps :DAnswered on 1/19/2015 by Anonymous
A:I use this product at night before bed. For me it helps clean off all the grossness of the day and helps remove any makeup I missed with my makeup remover wipes. Hope it helps!Answered on 1/15/2015 by Chicken Thugget from Tallahassee FL
Q:can I use a mask right after washing my face with ocean salt?Asked on 1/4/2015 by Alex from Burbank
A:Hi there! Thanks for your question!
I would suggest using a softer mask that isnt too harsh of an exfoliater, as Ocean Salt gets deep into the pores and cleans so well.
I would suggest Cosmetic Catastrophe!Answered on 1/13/2015 by Anonymous
A:I have done this before and it will leave your skin feeling wonderful! I don't suggest using a mask that has a harsh exfoliator though like love lettuce or honey brazened. I suggest using this scrub with BB seaweed or oatifix.Answered on 1/9/2015 by Leithiana from Hopatcong, NJ
Q:I have really sensitive skin and have been using the Let the Good Times Roll cleanser followed by Eau Roma Water and Cosmetic Lad, but I still have some blackheads on my nose. Will this cleanser irritate my skin too much? Or should I just stick with my routine that I've been using?Asked on 1/2/2015 by Jake from Charleston, SC
A:Hi there! Thanks for your question!
It is totally up to you, and if you have sensitive skin I would recommend using Ocean Salt once a week. It is a very powerful cleanser, but it works well for acne!Answered on 1/2/2015 by Anonymous
A:I have very sensitive skin as well. When I used Ocean Salt on my whole
face, it looked and felt like I was burned. I do, however, continue to use
it for very specific areas like my nose and my chin to clear out
blackheads/whiteheads, but only a couple of times a month. I use Ocean Salt
as a body exfoliate and to shave my legs, so I always have it in the house
whenever I feel I need to use it on my face.Answered on 1/2/2015 by Chrissie from New York
Q:What purpose does the vodka serve in this product? I don't know why, but I feel weird about putting that on my skin. Wouldn't it be drying?Asked on 12/27/2014 by Anon
A:To make Ocean Salt, we utilize vodka to extract the juices from fresh, organic limes. Alcohol has a unique property in which it is able to extract beneficial plant substances that are unable to be extracted with water. The antibacterial and cleansing effects of our lime and vodka infusion are ideal for blocked pores, blackheads or blemishes; leaving skin visibly brightened. We blend fresh avocado and coconut into this product to balance out any of the potential drying effects of the vodka. These two powerhouses hydrate thirsty skin, leaving it balanced and soft.Answered on 12/29/2014 by Carly from LUSH Direct
Q:Will this product upset my dry skin type? Is it a harsh exfoliator? Does it moisturize at all?Asked on 10/22/2014 by Rachel from Minneapolis
A:It's actually great for all skin types, but dry skin specifically! The coarse and fine sea salt can be an irritant if used too much, so i recommend using it only a couple of times a week. Also, the avocado and coconut work great as a moisturizerAnswered on 11/14/2014 by Anonymous
Q:will this product be discontinued now that you've introduced the new self-preserving ocean salt? i find the original to be far more effective.Asked on 10/5/2014 by sarcazm
A:We completely understand that the original products have very loyal fans and because we've had to make a few adjustments to the ingredient list to make the new ones contain no added preservatives, there can be slight differences between the two. Since this is the case, we will continue to sell both formulations to suit all of our customers.Answered on 10/6/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT
Q:I am curious about how the avocado butter is made. In the ingredient list, it lists "fresh avocado butter." I know that avocado does not produce a natural butter and thus is hydrogenated to become a butter. How is your avocado butter produced?Asked on 7/29/2014 by anonymous
A:Avocado butter is produced from the flesh of the fruit; it melts with ease, making it effective for skin and hair care products. Also, the fruit contains unsaturated oil that rehydrate skin. The oil soothes the upper layers of skin and is very good for dry, cracked, aging and peeling skin.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Anonymous
A:They have a video on they're website of how the whole product is made.Answered on 9/14/2014 by Dee23 from New York, NY
Q:I am confused about one of the ingredients. In the list of ingredients, it says it contains coconut fat, in the description to the right is says it has coconut cream, and one of the Lush employees who answered a question said coconut oil. Which of the three is used in this product? Also what purpose does lanolin and glycerine serve?Asked on 7/29/2014 by anonymous
A:Creamed coconut is desiccated coconut ground into a thick paste and pressed into bars to make creamed coconut, while coconut oil and fat are the same thing. It is the fat that is used in the product. Lanolin resembles skin’s own sebum, it is highly emollient and an effective moisturizer. Also, glycerine is softens the skin and carries into it the nourishing elements from the fresh ingredients of our products.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Anonymous
Q:How long is this product good for? I can't find the expiration date on my container.Asked on 7/11/2014 by Bianca
A:Ocean Salt is good for 14 months from the date that it was made. There should be a round sticker on your pot with a picture of the person who made it, the date it was made and the use by date.Answered on 9/8/2014 by Anonymous
A:I did some research and discovered that the shelf life for this is 14 months.Answered on 7/11/2014 by Anonymous
Q:I'm suspicious about the coconut and avocado fat in this. Does it really not clog pores?Asked on 5/26/2014 by em
A:The coconut and avocado butter are great for hydrating the skin. Ocean Salt contains a lot of sea salt which is exfoliating and leaves the pores clear.Answered on 9/12/2014 by Anonymous
A:This is my favorite Lush product! It does wonders for my skin; clogged pores have not been a problem.Answered on 5/27/2014 by Anonymous

Q:Can this product be used all over the body. I have used it on my face no problem but i decided to use it on my chest and arms to exfoliate and I developed tiny bumps that itch like crazy.Asked on 3/20/2014 by Dominique from United States
A:Ocean Salt can be used both on the face and body, however, if you are finding it causes irritation to a certain part of the body we recommend you discontinue using it in that area. The skin on the face is much different from the skin on the body, so sometimes what works for one area might not be the same for another.Answered on 3/26/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:I know I use it on my face as well but I also use it on my body. Sometimes the water being too hot can irritate the skin. If the water is not too hot then I would discontinue the use of it on the body.

A:Its odd that you seem to be able to use this in your face and not your arms. I would speak to your Health Care Provider about your reaction before using it again.Answered on 3/20/2014 by Anonymous
A:Yes! I have used it on rough spots and places where my skin is extra
dry. I love this product!Answered on 3/20/2014 by Anonymous
A:If it irritates your skin in any way, definitely discontinue use on that
part of your body. However, I've only ever used it from the neck down and
LOVE it. It's one of my favorite LUSH products.Answered on 3/20/2014 by Anonymous
Q:What color is this?Asked on 3/5/2014 by me

Q:Should i use this after my regular face wash or after?Asked on 2/24/2014 by Sonyy from Dallas, Tx
A:Ocean Salt is a facial cleanser, so it would be used in place of another face wash!Answered on 3/4/2014 by Brandy from LUSH
A:Use a regular face wash daily, and for best results use the Ocean Salt
Cleanser once or twice per week to exfoliate the skin, following with one
of Lush's Fresh Face Masks :)Answered on 2/27/2014 by Anonymous
A:I would use this as your face wash. It tends to be a great all over face wash. The sea salt really opens the pores so it can sting a little if you have any cuts or open sores on your face. I absolutely love how smooth it makes my face feel!

A:If either product is new, I would try switching off to make sure the combo of products doesn't irritate your skin.
I like to use it first, then follow up with my regular face wash and moisturizer.Answered on 2/25/2014 by Anonymous
A:I actually use it in replacement of my regular face wash about 3 times a week. I find that it takes off grime just as well (maybe not mascara) but skin doesn't need to be exfoliated every day. Hope this helps!

Q:Hi.... Can I use Ocean Salt on my face daily??? I have oily face... and if I used it one time aweek or twice as you recommended is that ok if i use different cleaner during in the rest of the days of the week??Asked on 2/16/2014 by lena from iraq
A:I also have oily skin and I use this product everyday. I usually use a "regular" face wash at night and use Ocean Salt in the morning so my skin is exfoliated, smooth and ready for the day!Answered on 3/28/2014 by durbanpoison from Los Angeles, CA
A:Ocean Salt can be used daily as long as your face isn't too sensitive. It is quite exfoliating, but a lot of people use it every day, so it's completely dependent on how it works for you. If you'd like to switch things up, it's also okay to use a different facial cleanser along with Ocean Salt, as again many of our customers do.Answered on 3/21/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
Q:What LUSH moisturizer(s) are best paired with this product?Asked on 2/14/2014 by Kingsley from Green Bay, WI
