I HAVE to hand it to Lush for their line of lotions. No matter the smell, I have loved each and every one for their incredible moisturizing properties. This definitely ranks in my top 10 favorites. It has this Perfect consistency that rubs right into your skin and makes you feel instantly soft without being greasy.

The description says the primary scent is of Carnations, and I agree but its almost kind of spicy, like nutmeg or some tasty baking spice. [I understand the bewitching reference now!] Then, the secondary notes are definitely Rose, and later as the lotion wears off I'll catch a little bit of a sweet almond scent. Overall a complex and exciting set of aromas that I've come to just love.

And like most of Lush's fragrances, it stands out from the uniform smells that other more main-stream companies are going for. And you can feel good buying it too 'cuz everything here is super fresh and organic.

I've been a Ro's Argan, Rose Jam, rosie rose girl for a long time and I'm now in love with this beautiful blend. For sure a floral lover's pic!

this is maybe my favorite thing ever from lush. im a lush addict and read about this online. im a floral freak and HAD to try it. it smells devine you will smell it all day when you put it on in the morning its a light smell but not to light. if you put to much on it can be greasy but its not that big of a deal. it moisturizes very well and i cant get over the scent! a little expensive but totally worth it!

I really enjoy this lotion as a standard after-bath lotion. I would say it's a better budget lotion as for the other lotions available through LUSH, which can really get expensive and which, in my opinion, don't smell nearly as well or are worth nearly as much as this gem! I would really like to see it brought back into stores instead of as a Retro product only. I don't get excessively dry skin normally as long as I apply lotion after a shower, so I am not certain how it would work for others. I would say my skin will get dry unless I apply lotion right after a shower but it's not excessively dry. I love the smell. It smells like when you first walk into a LUSH shop, basically. It's a nice standard LUSH smell if you want to keep it going all day. I would definitely say I can pick up all the notes in it.. almond, carnation, and rose. I would say that after awhile the scent does die down (at least to my nose, but perhaps I've just gotten too used to smelling it..) but it's still very nice to smell yourself for awhile when you first start your day!

I LOVE the smell of strong carnations...sweet and spicy all at the same time. This smells totally "carnation-y."

Absorbs much like Vanilla Dee-Lite...a lightweight lotion, but good after a bath/shower when your skin is already hydrated before application. The smells lasts a reasonably long time, but I do like the smell so I wouldn't mind it if it were stronger...or if they made a fragrance with this scent!

Something about this scent is very familiar to me, although I can't place it. I keep thinking it smells a little like a childhood vacation spot, and a little like my mom and my sister. Really not sure where that comes from, but I love it! I like it for fall and winter because it has that carnation smell you find around the holidays. The scent is so yummy... If you have been trying to decide whether to get this, I would highly recommend it. I was afraid it would smell old or too flowery, but it is really subtle with a hint of holiday spice. Very unique.

I had high hopes for this lotion because I love the smell of carnations and I love Ruby Red Slippers bubble bar, although it smells like an incense when dry.
While Ruby Red in the bath transforms into a light flowery scent the Potion Lotion kind of stays smoky/clove-y/peppery on my skin. It does mellow down some but it's more spicy than flowery.
The good news is that it's light but moisturizing, It seems a little greasy at first but sinks right in.
I live too far from a Lush store to return it or exchange it so I will use up the bottle I got but I don't think I will re-purchase.

I love Potion Lotion. I use it daily on my hands, elbows and arms. The scent is heavenly--like old-fashioned carnations. The thick lotion is filled with essential oils that keep my hands soft even after a day of gardening.

I am hooked on this product and it is now one of my favorite gifts to give!

I have been using this product for several years after my mom got me hooked! I love the scent and find it old fashioned, but not too overpowering. The only con is that it's not available in stores for some reason, and the shipping time is always a bit lenghty, but it's well worth it!

I normally reach for heavy lotions and thick moisturizers, and I have a hard time finding a "lighter" lotion that is still moisturizing enough. This is perfect.

It goes on super smooth and feels like silk. It absorbs quickly, with no sticky or waxy feeling residue and is that "just right" level of moisturizing without being heavy.

Oh and the scent! Yum! On me, Potion is intensely floral with a peppery bite that never fails to get compliments. It's my go-to, keep-a-bottle-in-my-bag, never-be-without-it lotion for every day use.

I am addicted to this product. This is by far my favorite lush product, I've been buying it for years. I cannot sleep without this, I use it every night before bed and the scent has the most calming effect. It is moisturizing but not too heavy and the spicy scent lingers for hours.

This lotion is great! Smells like roses yet not overwhelming! It smells exactly like Ruby Red Slippers and the Christmas Eve bubble bar with a hint of roses! Very calming!!!

I always put lotion on after I shower because I can't stand dry skin so I am always considering the chemicals in my skin products. I love LUSH products in general because they are much more natural than mass market products. The first time I used Potion I thought the scent was kind of light but now it has cast a spell on me! It's spicy, floral, and creamy dreamy. It makes my skin smell great and soft after showering. After being out of stock for a long time I have just gotten two new bottles of this wonderful Potion, I would buy more but then I'd be broke! Anyway, I put it on at my BF's house and he couldn't stop smelling me and saying how great it made me smell...so a major 5 stars for this one. Please don't ever stop making this product LUSH...in fact you could make more products with this scent. P.S. LUSH, you need a store in Traverse City, MI

I don't understand WHY people like this smell so much here. It smells way too strong and spicy, it makes my head hurt all day long. A SEXY smell? Uh...I feel like I'm at the dentist's where they use way too much scent machines to seem so clean. It's driving me mad and I can't focus on anything. Went right into my trashcan after 2 days of use. What a waste of money.

Received my first order of this yesterday and my nose has been glued to my arm ever since. The carnation smell takes me back to my youth - Mom's favorite flower! Wonderfully moisturizing!
