As with many others, I got a small sample of this with my latest online order, and because it's LUSH, I was excited to try it. I was very disappointed with the scent, though - I popped online to see what on Earth it was (I couldn't identify the scent for the life of me; I just knew I didn't like it), and was not at all surprised to discover it's cloves and cinnamon, two scents I strongly dislike. However, the soap DID lather quite well, and the black exfoliating bits were nice at first (although they were too scratchy on my second use, so I picked them out of the sliver and threw them in the trash). All in all, I would not buy this, but I bet it would be perfect for those who like the scent of cloves and cinnamon (sadly, no one in this family). I'll finish the sample, though, just because it does clean so nicely.

I stock up whenever I can. My hubby uses this to shave in the morning and it makes his face so smooth and smells so great! I love that first kiss in the morning!!!

I absolutely love the smell of this soap- so nice and warming in the cold MN winters. However, the cloves are very rough, and hurt my skin. I wish it came without the clove pieces on the top.

I personally love the clove smell. I don't however, appreciate the clove twigs that stick out and poke/scratch as you lather up. It seemed too wasteful to cut off half and inch off of the top AND bottom. I ended up picking out the pieces as I came to them, which was a pain (literally) as they wouldn't always come out until enough of the soap was used up around it.

I received a sample of this, and I'm not too crazy about the smell. I gave it to my dad, perhaps it will work better as a men's scent. It reminded me of smelly clove cigarettes..

Lush was not lying when they said that this stuff wakes you up! I love the smell! The Cinnamon comes through the strongest so if you are a fan of cinnamon you will love this soap. My only complaint is that my skin feels tight and dry after using it

So I got this as a small sample in the mail and I was so excited... the smell is disgusting, like ash/smoke/with a hint of spice, thrown all together to smell god awful. But I wanted to still try it out so I could give it a full review, the smell intensifies in the shower... It lathers good, so if you like this smell, go for it.

I received this as a sample, I don't like to waste so I just used it until it was gone. I don't keep my soaps in the shower so the sample lasted me well over a week. As a soap it functions really well. I just did not enjoy the smell at all, It reminded me of a cologne my grandfather would wear, not really appealing to a girl in her 20s. I will note that after the shower the smell on my skin was light and not overpowering, which was a plus for me but perhaps it would't be if you enjoyed the fragrance.

Initially I liked this soap - it lathers very well, better than most Lush soaps. I couldn't smell the oranges, just the clove, which was nice. I thought I might end up smelling like a goth teenager, but it didn't linger on my skin. Unfortunately it dried out my skin and I was itchy after using it.

I got this soap as a sample and I am so glad because I would have been bummed if I actually bought this. I smelled it and it made me gag :( I really wanted to like it, so I washed my hands with it to see if it would be better, but it still was not great. I just do not like the smell of it but everyone is different, so I suggest smelling it before you buy it.

This is my absolute favorite Lush soap of all time. I used to buy it in the stores then had to shift online. I use it in the shower and keep it in a plastic tub so that when it melts (as all bar soap will do), it melts in the tub and then I have liquid soap. You don't waste the melting bit this way. wish I could buy some of this scent so I could make my whole house smell this good.

I received this as a sample in the mail with my most recent LUSH order. Through the packaging, I could only really smell the spicy cinnamon (which was nice!), but using it to wash my hands really brought out its complexity. I'm big on nostalgia, and the smell reminds me so much of those homemade, clove-studded orange pomanders that my family used to hang up around the house, especially during the autumn and winter months. I have always loved that smell. The only downside is that the soap did dry out my hands, but almost all bar soaps seem to do that anyway. Overall, a very pleasant surprise in my LUSH order. I would definitely repurchase this!

I got this soap as a sample and didn't think much of it at first. Then I used it in the shower and was pleasantly surprised! I love anything with cloves, and this soap smells just like cloves mixed with fresh orange juice. Best soap I have tried so far!

There is nothing negative to say about red rooster. I found this soap in Derby, England's Lush and have been addicted to it ever since. It fills your whole bathroom with the wonderful scent. I'm not a morning person and have a hard time waking up, but when I jump in the shower and start lathering up I'm wide awake, and this is before my coffee. I was upset when I couldn't find it in the stores anymore but it was short lived when I found out I could get it online. This is by far the best soap I've ever used!

Ew. i got this as a sample soap with my online purchase and it stunk up my whole box. it doesnt smell anything like the description says, it smells like pepper. the smell is so nasty & STRONG it's not even worth trying it out in the shower, it gives me a headache.

This soap is fantastic! The clove smell is VERY strong though so if you don't care for cloves this soap is not for you! I happen to LOVE the scent of cloves so this soap is one of my very favorites!!!

We got this as a sample with some other soaps and bombs and I tried it this morning. It's VERY fragrant. I can still smell the cinnamon and orange aromas and maybe that's a good/bad thing depending on how those fragrances sit with you. The small sample bar lathered fairly well for me but I use a sponge. I'm a pretty big guy (6'3", 220#) and i was able to wash head to toe with one application of the soap to the sponge. it rinsed clean and i can actually feel a slight tingle, maybe from the cinnamon oil. to use different words, i smell like i'm using 'tiger balm', if anyone knows what that is, that's the closest i can compare the fragrance. but it's not an overwhelming aroma that's left on the skin, just a bit but i'm sure it wears off as the day goes by. all in all, not bad but i think i like it more for the aroma in the shower than the aroma left on my skin. :)
