While being on Accutane/isotretinoin, my normally Asian oily scalp/hair has now dried to a pulp to the point of raining flakes/dandruff and entire scalp itchiness. I've tried other "moisturizing" treatments, such as Japanese camellia (tsubaki) oil, but none are as effective as the Snake Oil. After just 1 application, the itchiness has improved 98%, and the flaking improved 95%. After just 2 applications, everything is completely improved. Although the scent is not the greatest, the benefit far outweighs it.

Recently I've been suffering from a really dry, irritated scalp due to the recent cold weather. So of course I went to lush looking for a cure and even though I do not have any dandruff I bought snake oil even though I was really skeptical about buying it after reading hundreds of reviews about the horrible smell. It really does smell like minty-campfire- bacon, but I found that I really didn't mind it at all. It did take me a little while to figure out the best way to apply it.Its best to just melt it in your hands like you would with the full of grace serum bar. It takes awhile but eventually it works. I could not stand the smell of the shampoo bar that's recommended to go with it so I decided to just use my Seanik sold shampoo bar and it works amazingly at removing all of the snake oil. It worked so well that I didn't even have to shampoo twice. When I first used it, my scalp was instantly soothed and a lot of the redness I had decreased. I'm really really happy with it and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind the strange smell :)

I have had a horrible, itchy/dry scalp for as long as I can remember, and since I have my hair colored every 10 weeks it has gotten even worse. It wasnt't just "snowing", large, unsightly flakes became an issue. I have tried all sorts of OTC shampoos and "natural" home remedies, all to no avail. (I was very reluctant to go to a doctor because I was embarrassed by how bad it had gotten) I was researching online some different remedies and came across a forum with a specific comment from a woman saying that she had used Lush products and they had worked well for her. I looked at their products online, found the nearest store, and headed over. I purchased the "snake oil", "soap & float", "hair doctor" and "jungle". The first day my scalp was itching horribly, and I was afraid I had made a huge mistake, but I didn't give up. Today is day #3 and the flakes have reduced by 85%. I am amazed. Yes the smell is very strong, but jungle takes care of that, and the smell is a very small price to pay for the successful results.

Yeah, I wanted this to work, as my scalp has become sooo flaky, but when I tried to rub this bar into my hair, it made my hair heavy. I spent about 30 minutes trying to wash it out, but I still felt residue, so I just kept applying other shampoos, but still felt the initial residue of the bar. I tried it twice and the same effect. If you have black hair ( black people's hair) I wouldn't recommend this at all. My scalp was super flaky afterwards ( probably because I still had shampoo in it) and a weird texture.

Wonderful! Definitely helps with a flakey scalp. It's a little difficult to apply but it's soooo worth it!!

I have scalp issues when the weather changes. I get really dry scalp and its embarassing. I've tried different shampoos for "dry scalp" as they claim and nothing really helped. I used this snake oil scalp treamtment with tresemme moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and My scalp and hair is amazing! I straighten my hair and always get fly aways, using the snake bar tamed those bad boys!!

Reviews mentioned that it smelled really bad, and ok it has a very light smell of plastic, but honestly for the results it can smell like swamp and I would still use it. It works wonders and I love it! Theres no tingle or burning which is awesome. The only issue i had with it was cutting a piece and rubbing it in my hands then applying it to my hair. I wish i could just take the entire bar and rub it in my hair. (I attempted this but the bar just started to slip and slide out of my hand). So I had to use a little at a time but regardless I'm using it.

This has been the only thing I have found that helps with my dry scalp. Dandruff shampoos didn't help. A few minutes after rubbing Snake Oil in, the itching is reduced to almost none. If I am good and use it regularly, I have no itching or flaking at all, and no red irritated spots. I tend to put it on in the evening and wash it out the next morning to give it time to really soak in. LOVE this stuff.

I was really hoping for this product to work. I get a really itchy and flaky scalp especially during winter. After reading mixed reviews I decided I would try it to see if maybe it would be "the" product for me. Unfortunetly, it wasn't. It irritated my scalp, and the smell ws really bad, sometimes even if I double shampooed my hair I could smell it the next day.

*A tip for anyone who does want to try it*
After being frustrated with try to get the product into my hair I cut small chunks of it and melted it and then put it into my hair that way.

This product is amazing. I have never tried it myself, but after reading positive comments here, I bought it to my father who had really bad case of eczema. His hands were cracking and it was really painful. He was using cortico steroids but doctors had no response to his problem. After using this he immediately felt relief, and he could use less and less cortico steroids. Finaly, he was using only Snake Oil bar and couple of months later he's not using anything anymore, his hands are completely normal! (touch the wood). So basically, Snake Oil cured this condition that lasted for years and where doctors were powerless. Thanks Lush!!!

I was recommended by of of the lovely Lush ladies to try this product for my itchy scalp and dandruff. But unfortunately it just did not work out well for me. I have long hair and trying to get the product on my scalp was a little challenging. I tried to get as much as I could on there though. It was super greasy, which I was expecting, but it continued to keep my hair greasy even after I rinsed and washed. Also, afterwards by scalp didn't feel any different or better. On the plus side, the smell is good. It reminds me of a campfire!

Love the smell! I noticed that I started breaking out on my scalp (scalp folliculitis) after I went natural and gave up using the Head & Shoulders products. The breakouts tend to be painful and very itchy (just like acne on your face). I was looking for something natural and healhty for my hair that would help fight my itchy scalp. This works great! I had results within days after one use! I only wish it was heavier. It took some time to get enough on my hands to cover my entire scalp.

Every now and then, I'll get a bit of dandruff that I have to deal with for a little while (a couple weeks or so) before my scalp returns back to normal. After discovering Lush, I decided to buy this product to see if it would help on the few occasions when my scalp decides to act up.

The first day I noticed a little dandruff, I massaged the snake oil into my hair about 10 minutes before taking a shower. I noticed a slight decrease in dandruff once my hair had dried. The next day, I forgot to use the snake oil. Whoops! When my hair was dried, I was shocked to discover that my dandruff was gone! Not only did the snake oil work very well, but I accidently discovered that it worked so well that I did't even have to use it every day! I am very happy with this product and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a solution to dandruff issues.

I've noticed that many people have complained about the snake oil smelling bad. If you're not a fan of the smell (it smells kind of like a campfire), it does wash out with a simple rinse of shampoo.

first off remember not to use to much of it at a time because it made my hair extremely greasy once i put a bit to much. but overall its a good product it smells good plus it lasts extremely long.

My hair is super long and thick and I my scalp is always dry and itchy I put this stuff on for 20 min and it tingles and helps with the dry and itchness. It smells really good and it works great. I think its better than things like Head and Shoulders or Selsun Blue.

This helps a lot with my more serious scalp problems. I use Soak and Float for dandruff, but I apply this before shampooing to soothe the spots of more serious scalp problems like eczema that I get sometimes. It is a little messy trying to get it melted and onto your scalp, but I usually hop in the shower soon after applying it, so it's not too bad. It smells a little weird, but the smell doesn't linger after washing.

I used this product by placing it directly on my scalp and letting it melt in my hair. It still only used such a tiny bit. I left it in overnight and washed my hair in the morning. My scalp is typically extremely dry to the point when I scratch it, it bleeds. After one use, that dryness almost entirely gone. I know this product has not the best smell but, I can so get over that with these results. Works better than what my dermatologist gave me.

I've had the worst dandruff for the past 8yrs,to the point I was getting sores from itching. Over the yrs I've spent so much money trying fix my scalp nothing ever worked until I found this. I use it with soak and float such a great combo,Its been 2months and I no longer have to use everyday I can do this 2 times a week and its great.

My teenaged boys and I gave each other head massages using this bar and we all agreed on two things. One, it smells like minty bacon. Our dogs were very interested in us. And two, it was very hard to get out of our hair... And my guys have crew cuts.
I thought that if this product did a great job on my scalp, I'd keep it and suffer through smelling like a dog's dream come true. But it didn't. We just didn't love it. It's going back to the store. The end.

This is a great product for those with irritated skin! I have been having problems with a dry, itchy, and flaky scalp for years now and I have always wanted to try this product. Snake oil has helped relieve all my symptoms and has made my hair softer and healthier looking. I feel like the most effective method to use it is to break a tiny piece off (no bigger than a pea) and message that directly onto the scalp, and I continue doing this until I feel like I have used enough. I leave it on overnight because I felt like the recommended 30 mins was not enough. Kind of hard to use bar form, a paste form would be awesome/ more convenient. Otherwise, it is LOVE!

I just got a sample of this product on my last trip to LUSH and decided to use it today after Rehab had failed to calm my scalp. I put this on my dry scalp, waited 20 minutes and washed it out with Soak & Float. Both of those have Cade Oil in them, giving them their signature camp fire scent. Some people don't like it, but I love it! My hair didn't feel super greasy with it in, but my fingers did. As soon as I ran the shampoo bar over it, it washed out and then I conditioned as usual with Retread. I'm still waiting for my hair to dry completely but I like it so far!
