Sympathy for the Skin is my favorite Lush "pot" lotion. (Although Creme Anglaise is sneaking up in my affections.) It's a medium-thick lotion that works well on any part of the body. My favorite thing about it is the scent. It smells so delicious, a mash up of sweet vanilla and bananas with just a hint of chocolate. Yum! I would be head over heels with this if only it absorbed better. As it is, I'll dab some on and it sits on my skin for a while before sinking in. It doesn't really hurt anything but it is a little annoying. However, I'll keep using this as long as Lush makes it. It just smells too good not to.

I use this after every shower and can honestly say I've never found a better all around body lotion. It smells absolutely gorgeous, I just want to break out a spoon and eat it! The banana smell isn't overpowering, it just lends to the vanilla to give it this glorious creamy dessert-like scent. It's also kept my overly-dry and damaged skin beautifully moisturized. I was shocked! My skin takes a beating, lifeguarding outdoors 3 months a year and harsh college dorm water for the rest of the year has not been kind to me. I have tried a lot of lotions to try and reverse some of the harm I've done to it and Sympathy for the Skin keeps my skin well moisturized and it feels healthier every day! Miracle in a pot.

I LOVE this lotion! I use it daily to every other day after my shower in the morning. It has made my skin remarkably more soft and supple. I was laying on my side in bed the other day, had my arm perched on an exposed part of skin on my hip. I shuffled, and felt the smoothness of my skin. I swear, I didn't believe at first that it was my own body!

For those worried about the banana smell- if it wasn't listed in the ingredients, I wouldn't even know it was in there. It's definitely a French-vanilla ice cream scent, maybe a super faint hint of banana fragrance. My boyfriend told me that I smelled like "awesome coconut tropical vacation."

One thing that might be off-putting to some people is the little tiny granules or "things" in the lotion. When I first noticed them, I thought, "Oh great, I'll be finding these bits on me all day long." But aside from the application process, I NEVER notice them. I don't ever find them on the floor or on my skin or clothes. I think they really do just vanish.

All in all, if you're on the fence about it, give it a try!

This is the first Lush lotion I have purchased, and I'm not going to lie.. I was a little bit alarmed by the price for (what seems like) such a small container. But once I actually applied it to my skin after a shower I quickly realized that a little goes A LONG way. And how amazing did it feel on my skin! It was not "greasy" or "heavy". Yes, it is thick, but it absorbed quickly and left my feeling so silky. It smells delicious, like vanilla bean ice cream. Mmmmm! Love it

I was given a sample of this when I went to stock up on some bath bombs and facial items. Upon first trying I applied to arms and elbows (they are ashy!) it absorbed super quick with almost like a custardy thickness. 30 min to and hour later I noticed my elbows felt like velvet! If you HATE bananas, do not worry! When I first opened to smell, the scent I thought was cocoa butter/cocoa bean and vanilla. When I came on to lush.com to research it I was surprised to see banana! But now I can tell a very light banana scent with the vanilla and sandalwood creating the "cocoa" scent I thought it had! It's very calming, milky, thick scent...perfect for before bed/dreaming! Try it for problem areas for sure!

My mom got this for me because i was breast feeding my baby. He was doing great but my areolas were so sore/ chapped. I wanted a product that was safe for my baby and would give me some relief. We both loved it!! Smells delicious (banana pudding/ vanilla). I keep mine in the fridge so it will sty fresh. It's great for sunburn too!

I got a little sample of this in my previous Lush order and I fell in love. This product smells so delicious. I love putting this on after I've shaved, or right before bed. It is a bit expensive, but I'm very happy with the product.

Thats how good this stuff is. Within a week my "rough spots" such as elbows and knees felt so soft, smooth and moisturized. I just KNEW it was this because it was the only change in my beauty routine (I even went back to the Lush shop and made all the s.as feel my elbows for themselves. Haha).

For those of you wondering if this smells like bananas: no. The smell of bananas is RARELY if AT ALL there. You really get more of the vanilla than anything. I highly recommend this with the "Its Raining Men" body wash (if you're into sweet scents). That really kicks up the moisture factor. Perfect for my sensitive skin!

One star off for not coming with a pump! :< (its more sanitary that way)

I think I'm in love! I just got a pot of this sweet smelling skin-saver, and it might be my new favorite product! It has a beautiful vanilla bean ice cream-like scent to it in the pot, but once you rub it onto your skin it has a scrumptously sweet, banana custard scent. YUM! And as far as moisturizing goes, this lotion works SO AMAZINGLY WELL! It gives a faint sheen to your skin, which I like, yet it's not the slightest bit greasy. Since this lotion is so thick, a little bit goes a long way! I was able to cover both of my arms and shoulders without it looking like I'd even opened the pot. So I don't mind spending [$] on this, because I can tell it's DEFINETLY gonna last me a while. Overall, I think this product is fantasic, and I recommend you get a pot because I promise you won't regret it!

This is my go-to hand cream. I wash my hands all the time, and I must moisturize! I keep it on my desk at work. It smells like light, fresh, vanilla with the slightest hint of banana. YUM.

This is great as a non-greasy moisturizer. In the jar, it smells funky. Like old bananas. But on the skin it smells heavenly. Sweet, light, warm, and like a much more pleasant banana. This lotion moisturizes without feeling heavy. In fact, sometimes I forget to lotion a part of myself, and with this lotion, I can tell where I missed even later in the day! It lasts that long. My skin feels smooth and wonderful from using this on a regular basis. Look past the smell in the jar and try it on yourself! A little goes a long way, so the price of the lotion is really reasonable considering the quality and how long it lasts. Love this product!!

I am only just recently a dedicated Lush customer. A friend took me to their store in the Cherry Hill Mall in NJ and I was spotted by the friendly staff as a future addict.
I will spend whatever I need to get the right lotion for my skin. I have too many tattoos to preserve to be cheap about moisturizing and I love it when people tell me how soft my skin is. Also, well hydrated ink is beautiful ink, and anyone who knows tattoos will tell you the best way to keep them good looking is to take care of them. Which brings me to SFTS. This lotion changed my life. Not only does it leave my skin feeling smooth and smelling DELICIOUS, it minimizes the appearance of any bumps on the backs of my thighs and calves. I can see the condition of my skin improve as I rub it in. It is my new favorite and I cannot live without it. I don't even feel guilty about the indulgent price because of how well it works for me. I love Sympathy for the Skin.

this stuff is amazing...I had run out and forgot about how delicious it is, I've been distracted by other great products, but was reminded of this when a Lush sales girl put this on my new tattoos and gave me a small sample pot. I started using it again, and had to make a special trip to the store near me to get the full size, and oh my gosh, I adore this. I actually use it on my dry skin on my face, as all other face lotions make me red and irritated, this is the one that doesn't. I know it's marketed for body, but I use it for face and body..I get rosacea and this is just what my skin loves. I actually use Coalface and aquamarina as well for cleansing. Lush has cleared up all my irritations. But seriously, this cream is like heaven.

Mine smells nothing like bananas. I can see specks of banana seeds but that's about as bananas as it gets. To me, it smells like a tub of melted full-fat vanilla ice cream which is pleasant enough because I like ice cream. The problem is -- and I don't know if it's my body chemistry-- after the initial application, when it's set on my skin, there's a bit of a chemical/plastic-like odor. It fades relatively quickly. This lotion is extremely thin but it moisturizes well and absorbs quickly into the skin. I use it after a shower, before bed and it gets the job done. Good lotion, but again, nothing special.

I use this after I get out of the shower. The texture is very soft and smooth and glides on very gently on my skin. The scent is to die for! I always get reminded of a custard pie each time I open it. However, if this is kept for a considerably long time, the scent may form a stench since like other Lush products, this too consists of natural ingredients.

I was really excited to try this product because I have heard that it clears up the skin and makes keratosis pilaris (chicken skin) clear up. Which I have on my upper arms and legs. After using the product for over 3 weeks I noticed a small change but my skin has not cleared up completely. Still waiting on that. I have dry/itchy skin, especially on my legs and it hasn't improved after using this. Also, I wish the product came in a better packaging such as a squeeze bottle because it grosses me out to have to keep going into the same container with my fingers when using this and having bacteria harvest in the lotion. When smelling the product in the container, the plastic smell of the container is so overbearing and mixes with the scent of the lotion. Again, better packaging for the products would be a great idea considering the cost of the lotion and it is not very travel-friendly.

I have pretty severe hand eczema (pompholyx). My flare-ups go in cycles, with the first part being itchy and weepy and the second part being painfully dry, scaly, cracked and incredibly sensitive. I got this cream because I wanted a way to manage a particularly bad flare-up without strong steroids. I sampled this and Dream Cream in store while my hands were basically meaty lumps of pain, and they both felt fairly good, but at that point I was so uncomfortable that a little stinging didn't bother me. I chose this one due to some vague preference of ingredients. Luckily, it turned out to be a good choice! I applied it several times per day and it helped to soften up my skin so that I could extend my fingers without cracking my skin and bleeding. This did NOT cure my eczema, but that's an unrealistic goal; just figured I'd put that out there. However, when I used it as part of a regimen every day, my hands improved dramatically. Here's what I did:
Washed my hands with Putty for your Hands instead of my normal Burt's Bees soap (even that is too harsh).
Patted hands dry, then coated with raw, unpasteurized honey and let sit for a few minutes until tacky or until I got bored.
Rinsed off the honey with cool water, patted dry, and applied two coats of generic version of Cortizone 10 anti-itch cream (this is a steroid, but a mild one).
Slathered hands and wrists and any other dry, uncomfortable patches with Sympathy for the Skin and rubbed in until less greasy.
Put King of Skin in hand, let melt a little, and rubbed butter/oil stuff on hands to create a barrier layer to retain the moisture from Sympathy for the Skin.
Put on white cotton knit gloves and went about my day.

The smell is sweet, vanilla-y, and strong. It's not my favorite but I can deal. It does leave little black vanilla seeds on my skin but that's ok. I'm just happy to find a good moisturizer without lots of water, alcohol, lanolin, and harsh perfume agents.

I was not sure about this one in the store. I hate bananas and I am already a huge fan of Cream Anglaise. So this was a hard sell for the associate. I smelled it in the jar and it was just ok. Then she smoothed a little on my skin and it smelled good, not great just good. I bought it since I did not have the money for Cream Anglaise and took it home. I tried it that night and let me tell you, shocked is not a big enough word to describe how amazed I was. It went on SO smooth, just melted into my skin! And the smell was beyond divine! Like I said I am not a fan of bananas but this is the perfect mix of bananas and vanilla! Its such a creamy, decadent, luxurious scent. Its like being covered in all the smells you would except in Grandmas kitchen. And a little goes a long way which I really appreciate! It blends so nicely into your skin. I was also worried about the little "bits" in the lotion but as I smoothed in onto my skin there were none to be found on me! This is a must try!

This is probably my favorite body lotion of any brand, period. This is because not only does it moisturize like nothing I have ever encountered, but it also helps the bumps on the backs of my arms and on my thighs/backside subside. Most products irritate the bumps, but this product actually makes them go away, which to me is worth it. This scent is not particularly my cup of tea as I usually prefer floral, fresh, or herbal scents, it's a subtle sweet scent, after applied on the body, that does not interfere with any of my perfumes. The scent prior to being applied to the body is a thick banana/vanilla scent that is very sweet. A lot of reviews said this cream was greasy, but I have to think that maybe they were using too much because you only need a small amount in order to moisturize your entire body, and once it soaks in it is not greasy in my experience. This product is also great for softening cuticles when they need to be manicured.
