I wore this perfume to my wedding, and it was the perfect scent for the task.

Smell of Freedom is one of those perfumes that will develop differently on your skin than the sampler in the cup will smell like. I wasn't that thrilled with the scent in the cup at the store, but the associate put it on my skin and it almost instantly transformed into exactly what I was looking for--bright but not overpowering, earthy but not dirty, citrusy but not like Lysol. It's at once a grounding and uplifting scent that works with my body rather than against it. (There's something about my body chemistry that turns almost all perfumes into total abominations. Fortunately, this one escaped my body's wrath.) It also stayed with me all day long, which was another huge plus.

I also feel it's worth mentioning that I used the solid stick version. I have asthma which can be exacerbated by certain strong scents, and the solid version I can wear without an issue. My husband also has asthma, and his asthma is not bothered when I wear it. (Yay!)

I do occasionally wear it "just because", but if you do this I definitely suggest you go light-handed with the scent. If you apply it gently, it will sit on your skin like a note of happiness following you around all day.

Wow, I am so thoroughly impressed with this scent. I cannot get enough of it. My first scent with Lush perfume was Karma, and while I love it, especially the shampoo, the perfume has a sweet and sharp scent I wasn't expecting. I followed that up with Breath of God, such a strong scent that filled my head with happiness. Once I went back to the Lush store, I was directed towards The Smell of Freedom, and thought it was nice. I ended up purchasing a solid of Freedom and a bottle of Breath of God, hoping for my interest to grow on Freedom. Two days later and I cannot get enough. I've applied it multiple times throughout the past two days, and keep getting compliments. While I like Freedom, it was a bit intense alone and I thought I needed something to balance it out. I added Breath of God on top (a scent which has since become lackluster in its depth while alone) and now those two mixed together create an inspiring experience that makes me want to cover my life in this scent mixture. Try it out, and see what you smell. Although it may be overkill, I dabbed a bit of Karma onto the Freedom/Breath of God mixture and it was magical. See what happens, this perfume mixes well.

One caveat of all solid Lush perfumes, they're tinted and it can make your skin an unpleasant color. Too much Karma is like a bad tan, too much Freedom is like jaundice, so I can only imagine what dirty or loverboy would do. Especially because of the lack of scent strength of solids, requiring constant reapplications and ensuring more discoloration.

This is the best fragrance I've ever had!! I get sooo many compliments of how good I smell and how everyone loves it!! I wish you made lotion that smelled like this! The Smell of Freedom is just that....Freedom!

This perfumes conjures up happy memories of my Grandmother, but otherwise it smells like the scent she used in her linen chest but after it had gotten slightly musty. I'm afraid I cannot recommend this perfume at all.

Smells totally different on your skin than in the bottle. It starts sweet and then gets more earthy as the day goes on.

There's something very annoying about this scent. It has a tinny tang which develops into a less unpleasant and sweeter cantaloupe scent with soapy bitter undertones. Not a scent I want on my body. Smells strange. Ugh!

I tried this out at the Lush store because the sales girl said because I like Demon in the Dark, but this was horrible! I guess if you like REALLY spicy things, you might like it but I had to wash it off as soon as I got home because it made me have a terrible headache!

This perfume is transforming. It makes me feel beautiful and confident and like I should go out into the world and change it for the better.

Who knew a perfume could do that?

This scent is woody and spicy with a hint of citrus. I think it's too strong for everyday wear, though. And I think the scent intimidates my boyfriend a bit, heh. Lust is one I'm going to try next since I'm such a fan of Flying Fox, but I will still rock The Smell of Freedom when I need that extra boost to own the day.

Ordered the sample pack of all the scents and this by far is in my top 2. Lust is also up there. I definitly say get this product. yum!

I wear Lust and Freedom everyday. Most days I mix the two as it creates a
Wonderful scent all its own with my particular chemistry. My husband smells yummy too when he mixes them. Occasionally though, i may feel only a bit Lusty or a call for Freedom only. Either way, i start my day smelling magnificent! (so does the hubby) we have been known to snarl at one another over the Freedom!

My new signature perfume. Works wonderful with my body chemistry. The sandalwood and ginger comes through almost like a floral. Try the [$] sample you won't be disappointed. People react to perfume like fine wine. If they care for and understand the notes, they always do so with closed eyes. This perfume, when I have offered it for others to smell, is always appreciated with closed eyes and positive comments. If you have concerns about the smell fading, try it on the back of your neck or skin area not as exposed as the wrist.It lasts all day for me.

I personally love the smell of vanilla, however vanillary just doesn't stay on my skin for much longer than a few minutes. However, when I put The smell of freedom on my skin the smell was not only still there after an hour, but I smelt a note of vanilla! The scent really works for me on my own skin, but this is definitely something you don't order online. going to the store and actually smelling the fragrances on yourself is best.

I tried this on one hand and Breath of God on the other. It develops differently than smelling it straight out of the glass jars they spray the perfume into to test. In the jar you smell the burst of bright orange blossom with green earthy and woody notes. It smells like that at first on skin with mildly spicy notes, but then it gets warmer and warmer to gourmand and sweet ambery notes. Not so liberating when the base notes develop.

I was introduced to this scent because i LOVe Karma. When the SA put it on me she stressed the importance of letting it sit because of how this one changes. She was right! It smelled totally different on me when she first put it on verses fifteen-20 minutes later. And it smelled noting like it does in the bottle on me! I was shocked! People are always asking me what scent i'm wearing because it is that touch unusual yet it blends so well with the other lush scents i wear (flying fox, tramp, karma, american cream, etc.)

It really has to work with YOUR body chemistry, but when it does, WOW!!

I tested this fragrance in the store and didn't like it at first. My husband didn't like it at first. BUT it mellowed with my body chemistry to a really seductive and captivating scent. At which point my husband decided he liked it better than the Vanillary I bought. He is gonna have to buy this for me for Christmas now!
