Wow, this is good stuff! I have thick slightly wavy hair that's very poofy. If I want my hair to look sleek, I have to flat iron it. While this conditioner doesn't quite straighten my hair, it does make it more manageable and some of the poof is reduced. My hair is also coarse and this makes it feel softer.

I use this product once a week, only on my ends. One container will probably last me about a month since I have hair that reaches my bra strap. I just bought a back up of this conditioner last week! I don't want to be without it now that I've discovered it.

I was a little reluctant to try this product because some reviews said it smells bad - but I don't think it smells bad at all. I mean, it's not my favorite but it's pleasant enough. I think it smells herbal. However, if this smelled as amazing as some of Lush's other products, I would have given it 5 stars!

Cannot say enough good things about this product! My hair is very think, coarse, curly and prone to frizz. While it wasn't totally smooth, the frizz is greatly reduced, and gets better with weekly use. My hair reaches my shoulder blades, and I get about three uses per container. I usually pin it up in sections to ensure root saturation and then lay on additional product at the ends. Definitely a must have for me, and I LOVE the smell...definitely a nice bonus :)

I put the whole tube in my hare dry and left it in for around 35 min washed out with sylvia stout. MmMmmmm i loved the smell!!! It made my hair soft and smooth, but it didnt help all that much with the poof. I have seriously poofy hair, long, wavy, poofy hair. since my hair sucks i think i might give it anouther try.

I do feel like my hair is very smooth and sleek after using this mask. (I have thick hair that tends to frizz due to heat styling)It's not particularly shiny though.

You can definitely smell the booze in it though (Stout!) but I don't mind it because there's a lot of fresh herb smells as well, and it works.

One jar will give me about 4 treatments (once a week conditioning and my hair is fairly long, about chest-length) so I'm not sure if I'm digging the value on this product. I'll probably purchase it again when I feel like splurging.

I'll be honest, I got this because it's called The Strokes... But I was intrigued by the ingredients, too (like stout beer??) and after recently dyeing my hair it could certainly use all the TLC it can get. I only used about 1/4 of the tub and my hair is medium-long, but I noticed my hair behaving much better today, even in a hot and humid work environment. Yesterday my hair was so frizzed out from humidity but today, The Strokes saved it from being an ugly pouf!

I also noticed while rinsing it out in the shower, my hair felt clean enough to skip shampooing. I shampooed anyway, but I think this could be something to use in between shampoos to avoid drying out your hair.

The only bad part, really, was the incredibly pungent smell. I personally like the clean smell of lemongrass but combined with the other ingredients plus the funk of beer made it overwhelming. And the smell persists after shampooing and conditioning (I used my regular drugstore stuff). I kept getting wafts of it all during work... It wasn't very strong or unbearable but I didn't really like it emanating from my hair (even now, 12 hours later).

All in all, today was a good, frizz-free hair day!

I used this 20 minutes before a shower. I had to wrap my hair in a towel to keep the smell to a minimum. After 20 minutes, I showered like usual. After Styling my hair, it was (in one use) much softer, had more shine, easier to brush, and less frizzy. The awful pre smell died down to a light lemony scent, pleasant but not overpowering. Totally worth the cost and the 20 minute sniffer torture.

after using this product twice i had noticable results and compliments. my dry prossessed hair actually refomed into soft light uniform waves. it looked like it had been hot rolled but it had not. it is not greasy at all. just enough of the right stuff! love it.

I don't know what anyone else is talking about--my hair smelled AMAZING. Seriously, amazing. But, I like very spicy/clean sort of scents. (It smells like a very spicy lemon pledge).

I used The Strokes after I had colored my hair (note: real chemicals, not henna). I rinsed out my color, towel dried my hair and then let the treatment sit on my hair for 45 minutes. I rinsed the treatment out, shampooed my hair normally and then used Retread conditioner. Now, mind you, I haven't been the biggest fan of Retread up to this point (I don't feel it conditions very heavily), but I'm almost done with it, so I figured why not? I slept on my wet hair.

The next morning--wowza! Normally, sleeping on wet hair means my hair is super terrible in the morning and won't do anything--but not that morning! Shiny, soft and incredibly manageable and I smelled like a million dollars. (It even covered up the vague sulpher odor from Retread!) I have very, very thick fine hair that often gets bushy/frizzy/voluminous--but it behaved SO nicely and was SO shiny. I styled and finished with R&B (which, of course, made it smell even MORE amazing. I could actually see, when fixing my hair, where I had not gone all the way up the hair shaft to the root with the treatment (for fear of making my hair greasy and heavy) and there was a clear difference in frizziness/flyaway's between the two sections. Next time, all the way to the root!

I LOVE this stuff. In an effort to keep my hair healthy, even though I dye it, I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week (btw, the Karma Komba is amazing for training your hair to go longer inbetween washes) and I think I will probably be using this once every week or two. I have shoulder length (mind you, very very thick!) hair and I did not use a quarter of the container on my head. I would say that I will probably get 6-8 uses from this little container.

Note: I think where people may be disappointed is that your hair doesn't feel super-soft verging on greasy (like most deep conditioners) after using this. It does make processed/damaged hair feel silky, healthy and bouncy! (I have my fair share of damage due to coloring and heat-styling, but my hair is not completely straw-like and fried--to give you an idea of where I was starting from.) And you can definitely feel that your hair health is improved, just not in a "drenched in emollients" kind of way.

If you are looking for a frizz reducing hair treatment, I would definitely recommend this as #1 on your list! Of all the Lush products I have tried and loved, this was the one that surprised me the most and blew me away.

I have super fine, wavy hair that drives me crazy. Generally it is in a state of being flat and frizzy. Since using The Strokes I have had multiple compliments on how shiny and full of body my hair is. It definitely it more swingy and feels stronger. I don't mind the smell,it's mostly just the scent of lemongrass/beer. Unless this stuff causes extreme buildup over time, I am planning on keeping my shower stocked with it.

I love this treatment. I live in an area that is VERY DRY. It is bad for my hair and normally i had curly wavy hair. here it was straight looking bad. With this it made it normal again! I was stupid and used it before i went to teach preschool. Other than the smell(which grew on me), I love it.

I found that this product was a let down. [...] I was dying to see if this treatment would revive my frizzy, chemically over-processed hair but it didnt do anything. My hair looks the same. It doesnt even shine. It smells AMAZING though but thats it it doesnt do anything good for the hair. I wont recommend this to anyone.

While the smell of this product isn't exactly conventional (while soaking in, it smells similar to a pub), customers should always carefully read the descriptions and ingredient list of a product before buying it. Chances are, if there's beer in it then it will smell like beer; this is just a fact of life.

For those who are willing to tough out 20 minutes of the smell (which isn't really a feat if you keep your hair out of your face) the rewards far outweigh any negative attributes of this product.

I have dry, damaged, curly, frizzy hair that gets fluffy the moment a drop of humidity enters the air. After using The Strokes, not only does my hair smell like lemons (the resulting scent after rinsing the product out) but it is EXTREMELY tame and shiny.

I slathered about 1/3 of the pot on my hair, while it was dry, about 20 minutes before my shower. Once I got in the shower, I put Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo in my hair (while The Strokes was still in), scrubbed my roots with my fingertips, then rinsed. I let a smattering of American Cream Conditioner soak in my hair then rinsed it out (not too thoroughly) once I was done with my shower.
The Strokes totally tamed my hair and every time I use it, it looks like I just got my hair done at the salon.

Job well done, LUSH. This hair mask is fantastic. It's well worth the price, the time, and the mild smell. Follow with Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo and American Cream conditioner then enjoy days of awesome tresses!

Great conditioning product!!! Have tried all the lush hair masks save JasmineHenna fluff ease and this is by far the best. Deeply moisturizing but totally non greasy or heavy... left my waist length hair the softest and smoothest it has ever been and that was with air drying, sleeping on it semi damp, and then just getting up and going without styling. Really wonderful treatment, absolutely worth the price... I have thick, long hair and will get three treatments out of a pot so it is not too expensive when taking the quality and usage into consideration. Highly recommend this to anyone with dry, damaged, chemically treated or long hair especially =)

i wasn't sure i wanted to buy this product because it IS expensieve, but i did and after maybe 3 uses (i bleached my hair prior to using this) my hair was soft, no frizz and shiny. but it doesn't smell too good.

My hair is naturally frizzy and fluffy, because it's both fine and thick, and I've never been able to find a way to tame it - especially since I've started blow drying. However, after my first use with this product, my hair is softer, sleeker, and smoother than it's ever been. I can't stop touching it! Don't be scared by the smell - like an old gym bag someone poured beer in - because it'll go away as soon as you wash, but will leave your hair like you've gone to a salon! I can't recommend this enough!

Okay, kiddos... this smells like beer. I should have guessed that much before I bought it, given the fact that it has beer in it. I guess all the people who have written reviews so far love the smell of beer. I happen to hate that smell. So I had to dock two stars for that. The smell doesn't make me feel nauseous, but it makes me choke, and it is very strong.

However, unpleasant scent aside, this stuff DOES work. Smooths my hair nicely and adds a bit of shine. I slather a good bit- maybe 1/3 of a pot- onto my hair and leave it for 20 minutes to half an hour, and then rinse it out. Thankfully, the beer smell washes away and leaves a light lemon scent. But those 20-30 minutes are pretty unbearable in the meantime.

The smoothing effect is pretty temporary, though- only lasts a few days- and is only apparent if I blow-dry my hair. It works about as well as the Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Eaze, which I think smells a thousand times better than this. So because I can't stand the smell, I probably will stick with the more expensive Jasmine and Henna hair treatment. At least I can buy that in stores and don't have to order it online.

I might recommend this to a friend if I knew she liked the smell of beer. :)

I have never reviewed a product before, but I have to chime in on this one. I started using The Strokes six years ago and it changed my life. When the stores stopped carrying it, I almost had a breakdown. Then I found it online and audibly gasped in amazement. I have tried nearly every other hair treatment and nothing comes close to this one. It smoothes my hair without weighing it down and it smells incredible. My hair is pretty straight naturally, but this stuff makes it look styled without even trying. It should never have been relegated to Retro status.
