Ultra-fantastic, all natural skin care

Our moisturizing, all-purpose balm is made with plant waxes and nothing else. No petroleum jelly, no mineral oils - just natural goodness. Ultrabalm is versatile because we keep it simple, with only three naturally effective ingredients. We also believe in using the best quality organic, fair trade and vegan (whenever possible) ingredients in our products. Our mix of candelilla wax and organic jojoba oil is a vegan alternative to beeswax; it creates a protective barrier on the skin and locks in moisture, while rose wax soothes irritations. Apply to scrapes to relieve discomfort, to tame flyaway hair, or even as a lip balm.

Features

  • Simple, effective skin care: Simplicity at its best, for those who love no nonsense skin care.
  • Ultrawhere and everywhere: Ultrabalm is our multi-purpose wonder and can be used anywhere – dry heels, chapped lips, and even on fly away hair.
  • Vegans and non-vegans rejoice: Candelilla wax (a vegan alternative to beeswax) helps the skin retain moisture.

I didn't know just how badly I needed Ultrabalm. I believe every household NEEDS a tin of it! I have a rare form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma called Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma, and the hallmark of this cancer is fierce itching, raised red plaques, rashes, and patches on the skin. This beautiful balm is what I now use to soothe those areas when I get a flare up. There's no cure for this type of cancer (but I feel I will be healed!), but in the time being, this gives me great relief.

Also, completely unrelated, 2 weeks ago I had 2 pre-cancerous areas removed from my left breast. Ultrabalm to the rescue again! I use it to keep the suture lines soft and to hopefully avoid too much scarring. I truly feel that it will heal much better with the use of Ultrabalm. This is, to me, a miracle product! It's simple, but it works. 3 ingredients- how much purer can one get? This has helped my life immensely since it was introduced, and I hope to always have a tin around. It's so versatile as well. I use it on my lips, sore cuticles, feet, and a bit on my hair to give it shine. I just haven't found anything it can't be helpful for! LUSH, this product fills a big niche in your lineup. I might even grovel (and that won't be pretty...) to encourage you to keep Ultrabalm one of your regular items. It's hard for me not to use it daily- multiple times, even!

Smells Awful

To me it smells like horrible smokey wood chips-- and not in a good way. Like musty mesquite or something. I can't get past the smell to even use it. :[

I use Ultrabalm mainly on my legs after shaving, but I recently used it on a sunburn and will likely never go back to using regular aloe after sun gel! A little bit of Ultrabalm goes a LONG way, and it not only soothed the sting of the sunburn, but it also locked in moisture. My skin is still a bit pink, but it's also very soft/smooth with no peeling! It's naturally gentle, so it doesn't irritate. Best, ever.

      Comments about Ultrabalm body balm:

I'm a cellist and my hands are pretty damaged and calloused from the long hours of playing. Anyone who plays guitar or any other stringed instrument can probably relate. They're dry and crack easily and no matter how much moisturizer or balms I use nothing seems to help enough. UNTIL NOW!

I will admit the smell is not exactallly my fav but it's not unpleasant either. If you have dry damaged skin I promise you this will do wonders for you. Not even just on hands. That's mainly what I use this for but it works for eczema too (which I use this for on my knees or elbows).

It's great to leave on at night for good healing in case you don't like to use balms on your hands during the day. I use Smitten as my hand lotion (amazing!). It's a retro product that you need to order but it's so worth it! If you're strictly an in store buyer, helping hands works great too.

I have had Nummular eczema on my leg since last summer. I have tried everything you can think of to make it go away. I found a review that Ultrabalm could help my condition so I tried it. I used Helping Hands cream, and then applied a little bit of Ultrabalm. I started using both products on Wednesday, here it is Saturday, and already it looks better than after using any other product I've already tried. It is on the way to disappearing! Just in time for shorts weather! Thank you, Lush! It is also working on my horrible, cracked heels! Just in time for sandals! A little goes a long way, making these products a fantastic buy!

I'm currently suffering from a nasty cold that keeps lingering on. My nose started getting red and sore from having to blow it so often, so I started applying Ultrabalm to it. It's incredibly soothing as soon as I put it on and it lasts through several Kleenex sessions. I have very oily skin that breaks out constantly, but Ultrabalm hasn't caused me to break out at all.

My only complaint is the tin...the lid is hard to get off and then it's hard to get it to stay back on. It would probably be best if it had a screw on lid.

              Comments about Ultrabalm body balm:

I purchased Ultrabalm a while ago to use as a nice, thick, overnight lip balm (because the Lush lipbalm I was using at the time- Lip Service- would disappear within 2 minutes of my applying it and I wanted something that would last throughout the night; I've since discovered Whipstick, which is the awesomest lip balm ever). I was new to the Lush brand and didn't know a lot about their products but the saleswoman said Ultrabalm was their vegan version of Vaseline, so I bought it. This product didn't cut it (in my book anyway) as far as an overnight lip balm is concerned (it's a bit on the thin and greasy side and didn't last nearly as long as I'd hoped). It does work really well as a lip balm, just don't expect it to last really long. Ultrabalm can be used for about a dozen other different things (much like Vaseline) and it rocks for all of it's other uses. It's great as a moisturizer for dry, cracked cuticles and severely dry, cracked, irritated skin (especially dry, wintertime hands, elbows, knees, and feet). It soothes and helps to heal cuts, burns, blisters, etc. I use a facial hair depilatory cream once a week on my upper lip and chin and I always apply Ultrabalm to those areas after rinsing off the hair remover cream. Let me tell you, it is amazing for this! There have been occasions where I've accidentally left the hair remover cream on longer than I was supposed to and ended up with red angry looking burns on my skin. However, when I apply Ultrabalm, the irritation is gone within a day and it soothes the area and eases the pain of the burns. I imagine it would also be great to use after waxing, or even shaving. This is so versatile, it's the MacGuyver of beauty products, every household should have a tin of this stuff! I gave 4 stars because it does have a bit of a strange, slightly unpleasant smell to it (kind of an earthy, burning wood sort of smell) but it's so faint that you may not even notice it. Also, this product melts VERY easily in even mildly warm temperatures. Plus, because of the way it's packaged, when it melts, it very easily oozes out from around the lid of the tin, no matter how securely you close it. I've had to clean the outside of the tin (and the shelf I keep it on!) several times to remove the balm that melted and leaked out. So definitely keep it somewhere relatively cool and out of the sunlight (I also put the tin into a small Ziploc bag now, just to be safe). Otherwise, this stuff is amazing. I kinda regretted buying it when it didn't do the job for me as a lip balm but it is so good for so many things that I don't know how I ever went without it! A definite must have!

              Comments about Ultrabalm body balm:

I used to use Vaseline as a daily moisturizer, on dry skin, or if I got blisters on my heels. I then started out to find something vegan and came across Ultrabalm! This is perfect for everything I need. I mainly use it as a daily moisturizer. On the first morning, after I had used it on my face, I realized that a couple scars and minor pimples on my face were beginning to fade and by the next morning they were gone. Ultrabalm remains to do that for me. This product is extremely greasy. Since I use it on my face, when I wake up the next day my hair is greasier than usual, which is fine considering I shower in the mornings. The only problem I have with this is that the product doesn't last very long since it comes in a small container. Ultrabalm usually doesn't last me more than 3 months. Other than that, I love this product and will continue to purchase it.

              Comments about Ultrabalm body balm:

I had no idea I needed this product so badly. I got it by accident in the store when I asked for a sample of ultrabland and the sales associate gave me ultrabalm instead. I thought it was weird that she was telling me not to be scared to try it on my lips because it makes an amazing moisturizer. It might have been my fault though I really don't know if I said ultrabalm.

ANYWAY I get angular cheilitis in the corners of my mouth a lot from dry mouth. no lip balm has ever done anything for it and sometimes they even sting a little. I used some ultrabalm as lip gloss and I could see improvement in the corners of my mouth after only a few hours, it was really amazing to me as I've never found anything that helps except triple antibiotic ointment.

Before I could even finish my sample jar I was back for another tin. I keep the full tin in the refrigerator to keep it hard, this helps with the tiny gritty bits as they don't appear when refrigerated. I keep a small sample by my bed, one in my purse, one by my computer, and one in the living room so I never have to go searching for it.

My mother is a gardener and her hands get super cracked, dry, and split near the tips and her cuticles, she's also very allergic to almost everything (even her flowers, but she loves them too much to stop)She was able to completely stick her nose into the pot and take a huge whiff without having any sinus issues, I think it smells weird because of the rose wax but she's in love with it because it's so hard to find anything that doesn't bother her at all. After putting ultrabalm on her hands and waiting a day they were significantly improved, no other lotion has done that for her and she's tried everything (everything that doesn't have perfume)

I could go on for days about the wonders of this product, but don't take my word for it, you should try it out for yourself, I promise there's something amazing it can do for everyone.

I started out using this for my tattoo's that were healing and noticed the difference right away. The redness and swelling went down almost immediately. I was amazed at how well it moisturized too. I then started to use to everywhere else! I feel as soft as a baby's bottom!!

                  Comments about Ultrabalm body balm:

This product is actually PERFECT for helping to heal and protect gauged ears/fresh tattoos! I used Ultrabalm for when I did a 2mm skip in gauging. While the 2mm skip was NOT a good idea and I DO NOT recommend that, I am positive that without it, my ears would have torn. They are still healing, but using Ultrabalm on them seriously helps the soreness, and allows me to move my plugs around to stimulate healing.
ALSO great on tattoos! The balm helps to heal the skin and ease soreness, while simultaneously protecting it!

Seriously, for anyone gauging or inking it up, YOU. NEED. THIS. PRODUCT.

Psoriasis can be very painful and ugly! I have had it on my feet for years and have yet to find something that works well to remove the scaly skin, splits in my skin, redness, and itchy skin. I have had a sample of this product for a long time and used it just on my lips. On a whim, I tried it on my feet. I noticed a difference immediately in how my skin felt and started seeing changes within a few days. This product is wonderful! I won't be without it now.

I went to Lush at Universal City Walk after I got my tattoo, and the sales girl told me that she uses it for caring for her new tattoos, and I decided YES I WILL BUY THIS instead of all the creams and "eh" stuff that the tattoo places tell you to buy afterwards. It worked amazingly. The colors came out beautifully and made them nice and bright, a little goes a LONG way, and I didn't scab or get dry skin on or around my tattoo when I was using it. Using other lotions and creams wouldn't have made my tattoo this awesome. I take it everywhere with me!

I really love the Ultrabalm! I use it on my face actually, and yes - it is quite greasy but afterall my face really needs this much moisture! I have dry skin from acne treatment and this really sooths and brightens my skin so when I wake up I look glowing. I love natural products, its rare you'l ever really go wrong with them.

I wasn't sure how much use I would get out of Ultrabalm when I purchased it - I basically intended on using it as a lipbalm and to soften my elbows, heels, and cuticles. I had no idea that I'd be using this every day, all over my body!

I recently went on vacation and used this stuff constantly. I used it on the areas of my feet where my new hiking shoes rubbed, to prevent blisters. I used it to soothe the blisters I wasn't able to prevent entirely. I used it on sunburn - on my body and even on my face, which didn't break out from the Ultrabalm. I used it to tame the frizzy hairs on top of my head. And yes, I used it on my lips, cuticles, and elbows.

This stuff is magic and every person should have a tin or three.

As a lifeguard, I am in super chlorinated water for 10 hours a day. I used many different moisturizers in hopes to find a remedy for my horrendously dried face. My skin would get all white and chalky and hurt like nothing else. One of the wonderful ladies at the Lush store I visted suggested Ultrabalm and I love her to death for the suggestion. This balm is exactly what I needed. My face no longer dries out and gets chalky, nor does it get greesy and oily after use. If you have severe dryness, this will totally help!

I tried this product in one of your stores yesterday because I was told it could make the colors in tattoos more vibrant. But today I have seemed to develop a rash on the arm I tried the product on. It has spread throughout the day which leads me to believe I must be allergic to one of the ingredients.. In the description it says there are 3 ingredients but I only see candelilla wax and jojoba oil mentioned.. what is the third ingredient?

The three ingredients are rose wax, jojoba oil, and candelilla wax. I'd recommend checking with your doctor, as it sounds like you may be allergic to one of these materials.

While Ultrabalm will bring hydration which is important for skin's health, you may want to try a product with neroli oil in it, as this essential oil is helpful in improving skin's natural regenerative qualities. Give the Therapy massage bar a try- it's got some great neroli oil in there as well as soothing lavender and emollient butters.

Our products are not tested on children, so we cannot guarantee that they are appropriate for use on infants. However, Ultrabalm has a very simple ingredient list, consisting only of Organic Jojoba Oil, Candelilla Wax, and Rose Wax, so you may want to check with your paediatrician as well as the manufacturer of the diapers you use to see if they're able to approve of the use of these ingredients!

It's quite thick and is much more of a balm or waxy texture rather than liquid or creamy. It may be a little heavy as a hand cream, however you'd be welcome to try it this way if you like a thicker balm for hands!

definitely, its a bit greasy after you apply it but absorbs well. I would put it on at home and let it soak in. Don't apply right before driving or using your kindle.

The TSA's own website is a bit vague about this, but to be on the safe side, yes put the balm in a ziplock bag, or if you can do with out it for the flight, it might just be best to put it in your checked luggage.

It is a balm which I believe is considered a solid, however you may want to verify with the TSA or your particular airline to be completely sure it is acceptable in carry on luggage prior to travel.
