Take a quarter-sized amount and apply to the entire face, including the eye area, with gentle, upward, circular motions. Remove with a warm, damp face cloth or cotton pad. Follow with a balancing facial toner such as Eau Roma Water.

Q:I bought a pot of Ultrabland for the first time the other day, and I noticed the texture is super gritty and not at all smooth and creamy like I was expecting. It also smells pretty bad, pungent and almost sour. Could I have bought a bad pot, or is this the standard for Ultrabland?Asked on 1/21/2015 by Anonymous
A:I've used Ultabland for some time, and while it does have a strong smell, I
wouldn't call it sour. Texture can vary between pots, but I've never
noticed a gritty texture (to me, gritty means a sand-like texture).
Sometimes if there is a problem with a batch, the store will receive an
email to pull pots, so I'd call the store where you made your purchase to
be sure, or call the customer care line. Both would probably be able to
reassure you better than I can. Other than that, since many of Lush's
products are hand packaged as well as hand made, so there may some
differences between the batches, but that doesn't always mean a batch is
"bad". I hope this helps.Answered on 1/22/2015 by Anonymous
A:I don't recall UltraBland ever smelling pungent, or perhaps my sense of
smell is less sensitive. There is a subtle texture to it, so that is
normal. There should be a date as to when it was made on the pot. If you
bought it at a store, or there is one nearby, I would suggest taking it in
to ask their opinion. Otherwise, call customer service. Lush takes a lot
of pride in their products. I feel they would exchange it if necessary.Answered on 1/22/2015 by Anonymous
Q:I have Love Lettuce, Grease Lighting, Tea Tree Toner, Ultrabland and some seriously acne-prone skin. Assuming I use this as a cleanser before bed and for taking off makeup, what order to do I put it on my face?Asked on 12/15/2014 by Deezy from United States
A:I would go Ultrabland, Love Lettuce, Tea Tree Toner, then Grease Lightning!Answered on 12/19/2014 by Serena from LUSH Direct
A:Use Ultrabland first! Then tone, and follow with grease lightening. I'd use
love lettuce just after cleansing (before toning)every few days or so...Answered on 12/16/2014 by Anonymous
Q:How well would this help with combating KP(Keratosis pilaris)? Has it been associated in treating KP?Asked on 12/5/2014 by Richard T
A:I've never had KP myself, but I have had problem skin my whole life (which, at times, resembled KP symptoms. Also, my skin's not a problem anymore!). Since KP is exacerbated by dry weather conditions and harsh skincare products, I would imagine that this cleanser would be a good option. It's super gentle and moisturizing and would probably help soften/loosen dead skin cells and hard keratin on the skin's surface. I would visit a Lush store if that's an option for you and get a sample of this, along with a gentle exfoliant like Let the Good Times Roll, which is really good for people with eczema and rosacea, or Angels on Bare Skin. See how Ultrabland works for you! I don't think this product has been clinically tested for treating KP, but its gentle, restorative properties will probably help those with KP - it definitely can't hurt.Answered on 1/20/2015 by Apathetic Star from Atlanta, GA
Q:Hi, I recently purchased Ultrabland Cleanser, Herbalism Cleanser, Eau Roma Water Toner, & Celestial Moisturizer. Can you please tell me what order I should be using these products?Asked on 12/3/2014 by Amar from United States
A:Hi there! Thanks for your question!
I would recommend using one of the cleansers first, then the moisturizer, followed by the toner, to spray on after!Answered on 1/2/2015 by Anonymous
A:I have used all of those except the herbalism cleanser. I used the
ultrabland, then the toner, followed by the celestial moisturizer. You
could alternate cleansers for morning and night. Ultrabland would probably
be better at night. I would take it off by getting a washcloth with very
hot water, holding it over my face for a minute and then wiping very
lightly.Answered on 12/4/2014 by Anonymous
Q:How long am I supposed to leave this on my face? I've seen that some people who've found success leave it on for up to 5-10 minutes in the reviews but the instructions give no indication that you are supposed to leave it on for an extended period of time. Do you only do that if you have blemishes on your face? I have acne as well and when I left it on yesterday for 3 minutes my skin's texture improved notably. I just wanted to know if time really made a difference.Asked on 8/18/2014 by A from FL
A:It really depends on personal preference, and what works best for your skin. Some people choose to leave it on for some time, while others prefer to wipe it away right away. Ultrabland doesn't contain any acne-fighting ingredients, so there are no benefits to leaving it on the skin in terms of clearing up blemishes.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:Personally, I only let it set a few minutes if I'm using it as my soap to wash my face and not remove my makeup. I really only do this once a week or so if my skin is feeling dry in a couple spots (which is rare as I tend to be more oily). I find it best to do this before bed, but even then I don't think I've ever let it sit more than 5 minutes. In my experience with LUSH, if its supposed to sit on your skin for any length of time, they generally tell you or its on the label. Hope this helped :)Answered on 9/16/2014 by Allie Cat from America's Hi5
Q:About how long does a small container of Ultrabland last if used twice per day? I know that some people use more, some use less, but how long would a small container last on average?Asked on 7/29/2014 by Nathan from Green Bay, WI
A:On average, you can expect to have the product for at least a couple of months, as a little bit goes a long way!Answered on 9/25/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:A month or 2.Answered on 7/29/2014 by Anonymous
I have been using ultrabland for a month and love it! My skin is so much better.
I went in and bought a larger ultrabland size and with the new one it is gritty. The first tub I bought which I still have some of, was completely smooth. This second one almost feels like it exfoliates. My skin is too sensitive to have any roughness or gritty feeling to it. Did the product change? I hope not, I love it and have been able to come off all cortisone creams for my face. But I can't use it if it is going to be gritty. Any info would be great thanks!Asked on 6/29/2014 by wackycheetah11 from Dallas, TX
A:The grittiness that you are describing is very uncommon, but will happen occasionally when the beeswax in the product is melted down too quickly. It doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with the product itself, it is just a slight variance in batches that is a result of the handmade nature of our products. It is similar to the way chocolate tends to get gritty when it is melted at too high of heat when baking.Answered on 9/25/2014 by Melissa S from LUSH Direct
A:Hey, I just bought the product yesterday and it did not have a gritty texture. Its supposed to be the same texture no matter what the size. I hope this helps.Answered on 8/18/2014 by A from FL
A:I would definitely go back to the lush store and show them the product. They'll probably replace it at no charge.Answered on 8/14/2014 by Joey from Chicago, IL
Q:The pot says use nothing but Ultrabland for a month to see balanced skin.
Does this mean no toner? moisturizer? make up? All other instructions say to toner and moisturize after just needed clarification.
Thank youAsked on 4/13/2014 by Cassi the Curious from United States
A:This is just meaning no other cleansers. Stick to Ultrabland as your cleanser of choice for a month but definitely follow-up with any or all of the other products you've listed.Answered on 5/3/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:I most certainly used both toner and moisturizer with it and saw results
anyway so use how you'd like to. And def with makeup. I think it means no
added cleansersAnswered on 4/13/2014 by Anonymous
Q:Do I keep this item refrigerated?Asked on 3/6/2014 by lovleyd from LA, Ca
A:No, the Ultrabland Cleanser doesn't need to be refrigerated.Answered on 3/7/2014 by Jeanine from LUSH Direct
Q:I was told that this, along with using a Toner, can really help blackheads, is that true?Asked on 3/4/2014 by T.J.
A:I find that it does! Everyone's skin is different, so I would recommend trying it out and seeing the benefits for yourself!Answered on 3/28/2014 by Kayla from LUSH DIRECT
A:I was told the same thing and it definitely seems to be true. How it was explained to me and what I've experienced is that after using this for a couple of days you will start to see the blackheads kind of being purged out themselves, making it much easier to squeeze them out. It's because Ultrabland pulls out the toxins, oil, and dirt so the blackheads start to get pulled out themselves.Answered on 3/9/2014 by Charlie from Santa Clarita
Q:How long (on average, ish) will the two sizes last if I use it twice a day? I'm going away to school, and I just bought the smaller size, and have fallen in love, and with no Lush nearby I want to make sure I bring enough since it's right up the road from me here at home!Asked on 1/8/2014 by Lauren from Louisville, KY
A:Like with so many of our products, a little goes a long way. If you're using a small amount twice a day, the large pot will usually last about 4-5 months.Answered on 3/19/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:That cleanser is awesome. All u need is a lil bit twice a day.
It only lasts up to three
Months and that's about how long it will last for you.
I'm sure if you are away at school there are computers, order your products online and it will come to your door! :) enjoy and good luck!

A:It really doesn't take very much product at each washing. Mine has lasted
almost a year, but I only use it once a day, so if u use it twice a day I
would say around 6 months, plus u can always order it online :).Answered on 1/9/2014 by Anonymous
Q:I have a separate makeup remover for my skin is very sensitive but would this be a good cleanser for the morning time just to give my face a quick cleanse before my moisturizer and makeup? do you have any suggestions for a gentle morning cleanser?Asked on 1/3/2014 by sceaster
A:This would be a great option as it is very gentle and works well with sensitive skin.Answered on 2/28/2014 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:I use this as my daily face cleanser. My skin is prone to flaky dryness in some areas and breakouts in others. This cleanser takes care of both. While it does remove my eye makeup with no trouble, it works just fine as cleanser. It is so gentle that I can open my eyes while I am rubbing it around on my face. It doesn't drip and it certainly doesn't sting.
If you are unsure, I would recommend going to a Lush location and asking for a trial sample. I am sure they'll be happy to give you some so you can try it at home.Answered on 1/28/2014 by MoMo from Hartford, CT
Q:i feel like i am just rubbing my make up all over my face then wiping it off do i need to wash with it twice if i have a lot on?Asked on 9/20/2013 by Anna G from Albuquerque
A:You do not need to use a lot of this product. It's recommended that you only use a quarter-sized amount and apply to the entire face, including the eye area, with gentle, upward, circular motions. Remove with a warm, damp face cloth or cotton pad.
Also, if you would like follow this with a balancing facial toner such as Eau Roma Water.Answered on 11/21/2013 by Anonymous
A:I love ultrabland. I put it on my face and then use a washcloth to take it off. I only use about a dime size. Hope this helps.
Sent from my iPhoneAnswered on 9/21/2013 by Anonymous
A:Don't be afraid to apply a glob of Ultrabland directly into your eye area if you, like me, don't have any reaction to it getting in your eyes. Concentrate gentle, circular motions on the areas with heavier/sticker make up, then soak a wash cloth in very warm water. Hold the wash cloth against your face, and let the heat form a little steam. I push my finger tips against my eyes and hold it against my cheeks with my palms. After pressing the wash cloth against your face for at least 3-5 seconds, remove it in a slow, wiping motion like they do when you get a facial, being sure to gently, methodically wipe the entire surface of your face once. If I have particularly heavy make up on or if I didn't take enough time or care with the wash cloth the first time, I will rinse the cloth and repeat the steaming/wiping step. The wash cloth will be full of make up that is hard to rinse out so I often use a new one each day, which is sort of a pain. If your skin can handle it, I sometimes wash first with Cetaphil. I understand that's not ideal, but if it makes you use the Ultrabland regularly, it's better than...not using it. Try taking more time with the Ultrabland before jumping straight to pre-washing. The ingredients in Ultrabland really should be enough to break down your make up, so washing first is more of a way to make you feel better. It's similar to how you might feel like your hair is cleanest when it's squeaky after shampooing, when what you've done is dried out your hair.Answered on 9/20/2013 by Anonymous
A:I personally.. get a hot wash towel.. wet my face before I put the
cleanser on, and then rub the cleanser on my eyes mostly.. then rub
around the rest of my face., and you don't need a whole lot to rub on
the face..I rub it in , till I get all the cleanser rubbed into the
face to loosen up the makeup .. and then I wash it off.. then rinse
the towel a couple of times, and rinse again... till I feel its
washed off , and feels clean.. :)Answered on 9/20/2013 by Anonymous
A:I don't wear too much makeup, on a heavy day it's BB cream and mascara and blush so once does the trick for me! I don't think it would hurt any to do it twice!! I usually use a nickel sized amount and massage it in my face for and on my eyes and that seems to more than cover everything

A:Anna G - the ultrabland is a bid thick. I use it like those old
fashioned cold creams. You put it on and some people just wipe it off
with a tissue or cotton ball. This leaves a moisturizing base on and
they use that instead of lotion. I actually like to wash it off with
just some warm water and a facecloth. This also leaves a moisturizing
base on but it isn't as heavy. I think that it's okay to wash it twice
if you have a lot on.
Also, my mom uses it just as a nighttime lotion. She will put a thin
layer on after a shower (she often showers at night) and then just go to
sleep. She says that it really helps to moisturize her skin, especially
in the wintertime.
Hope this helps.Answered on 9/20/2013 by Anonymous
Q:I've been using this as a cleanser and a moisturizer, I've seen a positive change but will this end up clogging my pores in the long run?Asked on 8/29/2013 by damsel.incontrol from United States
A:Utlrabland is really effective at removing build-up from your skin, so I don't think it will contribute to blocked pores. It is very moisturizing as you've found, so you might want to alternate with a different cleanser if you're finding it is over-moisturing your face.Answered on 10/4/2013 by Kendra M from LUSH Direct
A:Hello. I use the ultrabland pretty much every day. I also gave some to
my mom and my aunt and they love it. We haven't had any problem with
clogging of the pores. I use it mostly as a cleanser and in the
wintertime, also as a moisturizer. My mother mainly uses it as a
cleanser. We're all way above the age of any pimples - puberty is far
behind us. I've been using this product for almost five years now
(pretty much daily) and oiliness/pimples has not been an issue. Hope
this helps with your question.

Q:Can you use it as a mask?Asked on 7/26/2013 by Neels from United States
A:Yes, I like to apply a thin layer like a mask while I soak in the bath, and then I actually use a bit of Coal Face to rinse it off! Ultra Bland is very versatile, and if you leave it on the skin for a bit before wiping or rinsing it off, you will find your skin will be very soft and smooth.Answered on 8/21/2013 by Megan from LUSH Direct
Q:I can't tell if this product is just purging the toxins from my skin or just causing me to break out? Ive been using for a week, how long should i give it to determine if it's right for my skin?Asked on 7/24/2013 by jacey
A:It can take at least 2 weeks for the skin to complete a full cycle, and in some cases it can be as long as a month, so that's why we recommend using a product for a few weeks in order to give it a chance to prove itself. Sometimes breakouts are part of this process, but if they do persist, it might be time to try another product!Answered on 9/20/2013 by Brandy from LUSH
A:It took me a week to start seeing results but I also felt like I was breaking out more the first 4-5 days. Give it at least 2 more weeks :)Answered on 7/26/2013 by Breakout princess from Honolulu , HI
Q:I have acne prone , oily skin . Will this make me break-out ?Asked on 6/28/2013 by anonymous
A:Although Ultrabland does contain oils, it shouldn't cause breakouts! As long as you smooth it on, and then remove it completely, it should bond with any excess oil and lift it away, leaving your skin feeling soft and refreshed!Answered on 10/4/2013 by Brandy from LUSH
A:I have acne prone and oily skin. Ultrabland is amazing. I have no more acne and my skin is in balance.Answered on 8/29/2013 by Damsel.incontrol from Salt Lake City, Utah
Q:Would I be able to use this with my Clarisonic or is the consistency not compatible?Asked on 1/27/2013 by Rachel from New York
A:Ultrabland was not designed to be used with additional tools other than a wet washcloth or cotton pads to help remove it! It's best to just apply it with the fingers.Answered on 9/10/2013 by Brandy from LUSH
A:I wouldn't. This product latches onto the gunk in your skin and pulls it out when you wipe it off with a wet cloth. Because of the thickness of this cream, it will likely clog the brush/bristles and prevent the cream from doing its job naturally.Answered on 3/19/2013 by lushieinthedesert from Albuquerque,NM
Q:After using this product, do you follow up with a moisturizer?Asked on 10/3/2012 by jah flo from flint, mi
A:Ultra Bland is a very moisturizing cleanser in itself. However, if your skin is very dry and you still find it needs a moisturizer after using Ultra Bland. Skin Drink is a great moisturizer for parched skin.Answered on 10/27/2012 by Anonymous
Q:Why are there parabens in this product, aren't they bad for you?Asked on 7/24/2012 by Teri from San Diego, CA
A:The preservative ingredients in Ultra Bland keep it from growing bacteria, yeast, fungi, and other nasties which could seriously harm someone if they were allowed to grow in a skin care product. We use only the smallest amounts of preservatives needed to do the job effectively, and we make sure to choose our synthetic materials based on their long history of safe use.Answered on 8/28/2012 by Megan from LUSH Direct
