"This soap is great! My skin has never felt so clean, all without drying it out. It feels smooth and soft and is wonderfully exfoliated. I like the smell too. I wish it would last longer - so today I am ordering 2 more."

I have ALWAYS loved this soap and hope beyond hope that LUSH will always keep this available. If you love patchouli and the sensual experience of very soft sand on your skin you will love "Waylander Rhassoul" (though this was not it's original LUSH name). This is a totally unique product! It's an absolute pleasure from start to finish. It's sexy to the core and one of the reasons I appreciate and stay loyal to LUSH.

I was recently introduced to Lush and so far, I adore almost everything, from the soaps to the shampoos to the face wash. And with the description about what this soap could do for my skin, I so wanted to love it. But the smell was just awful.

I thought it was bad dry, but when I got it wet, it made my body smell like I'd jumped into a campfire and then rolled around in burnt rubber.

To its credit, this did seem more moisturizing than some of Lush's other soaps. I'm not sure if it really does magically transform your skin, as the sample Lush sent me only lasted one use (unlike some others, which have lasted longer).

Lush, I love you, but this product was not for me.

i am obsessed with the scent. lush sent me a sample with my last order and i wonder how did they know it was just the thing i was looking for. the scent lasts with me. i am constantly smelling my hands. my husband uses it too. i used the sample in the shower and was so relaxed as the scent was all around me. my only wish is that it lasted longer, the sample is gone already , so i ordered a bar!!!!

Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

I was very excited for this soap. I love mud flats so I thought this would be good to try. The smell....its hard to express how unpleasant it is. I normally like earthy scents, but this soap almost brings me pain when I catch a whiff. I've never had a smell do that. Some people described this scent as dirt, but I like the smell of dirt. This smelled toxic. Maybe it was a bad bar.

On the positive side, the texture is amazing. It is so creamy and muddy! I just wish the scent wasn't so overwhelming.

If only lush could make a soap like this without the scent of toxic death....then I would be in love!

    Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

I have been ordering a lot of Lush products lately, and have taken a particular interest in the Retro section. I figure I should try at least some of these great products before they potentially go away! This soap looked interesting, and I'm very pleased with how it works! It does not lather, and the smell is strong, although I find it quite calming and earthy. I feel like I'm rubbing clay or dirt all over me, and the cleansing is nice... not a tight or dry feeling, but more like you ventured into the wilderness and washed with a sandy mud mixture. The soap is soft, so you could either break some off and use it as a paste, or I have just left mine intact and scrub it all over. I would not use this as my main soap, but it is really nice as a very gently exfoliating and unique bar!

    Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

This soap is amazing. Since it's retro, I am afraid it might go away, so I will stock up. One thing I have learned about lush soaps, let them sit out for awhile before use. They come VERY fresh usually, and they need time to breathe. Then I cut them in small pieces and use a wash rag. There are ways around them not lasting long. This soap in particular needs it's curing time. I see no reason to complain about it lasting long. If it did, it wouldn't do what it does. Which is to make you feel and smell wonderful. Very earthy and natural. It's probably not for everyone, but it sure is for me.

If you like patchouli and earthy scents, this soap is great. But, it melts while you use it. It's not as exfoliating as I had thought either. I'd recommend it only for the heavenly smell, but it's too much of a hassle to get another since it's retro.

This is by far my favorite soap from anywhere. I love the scent of the patchouli in this... sometimes patchouli can have a bitter or unpleasantly musky smell, but not this one. It has the spicier, earthier scent that some patchouli products have.

The smell sticks, too, which I love. I come out of the bath or shower slightly perfumed.

The texture is creamy and rough, both, and feels so good. It exfoliates without being too harsh.

Another sample. I have very sensitive skin that tends to break out in eczema, acne, and hives. This stuff is great for clearing up skin -- it can be a little drying, though, so keep a light moisturizer handy. The smell is a very mild, earthy kind of smell.

Highly recommend to any potters or ceramic process lovers. As soon as water hit the soap and I began to use it memories of Raku firing flooded my mind. DEFINATELY not a smell for everyone. Burning embers and clay bodies are very natural and have a distinct smell to them. Unfortunately the soap doesn't last long enough to see any real effects. Mine lasted for 3 uses. I recommend this product for anyone longing to work with clay again and have fond memories of ceramics, but with the knowledge that like moments the soap doesn't last however the memories do.

I received this as a sample and recently tried it. The soap itself was softer than others I've had from Lush, you could pinch and pull off pieces, and it definitely disappeared quickly in the shower when the water hit it.

The smell was ... interesting. Definitely dirt/mud, but clean. I didn't like it, but at work, several people commented on the smell. Some didn't like it, others really liked it. One said it reminded her of fresh spring dirt ready to sprout dandelions. I'm not sure what that meant, but it seemed to come from a good place. I personally prefer a sweeter scent to my soap, but overall it was nice.

The scent was much too earthy for me, it literally smelled like mud, but I didn't care for it.
The texture was very smooshy and soft.
Left skin feeling moisturized, but I would't purchase it for myself.

I've used this soap since I found it many years ago in Amsterdam and carted it home several times by the pound (or kg if you prefer). It had a different name then, but no matter what it is called, it's the best face and body soap ever. I have never liked a strong pachouli smell, but this soap reminds me of an exotic far east kind of incense scent. I love showering right before bedtime and inhaling the slight residual fragrance on my skin before I drift off to sleep. I love using this on my face as it exfoliates very gently and makes my skin ultra smooth. Lush, rename it whatever you like, just never discontinue this gem ever again! :-) Just keep it out of the water as much as possible to make it last longer. I also love Uluru bath bombs because of their exotic fragrance as well.

I'm slightly disappointed on how soft it is and how it doesn't last long at all. Especially paying this much for this soap and only getting so little use out of it, it's irksome really!

Suggestion: Make it into a whipped cream soap in a tub. It'll be easier to use, probably be a lot more too.

Now that that is all said and done. I love the scent, very very earthy. It's also wonderful on the skin and would work wonders for the hair if it wasn't so creamy!

I received this as a sample when I made a purchase online. It does not really lather, and it has a very patchouli/woodsy scent which I found pleasant. It is a great exfoliating soap, and if you can let it sit on your skin out of direct water for about thirty seconds you can feel it start to firm up. During the summer I think it would be great, especially for people who are prone to less that perfect skin due to the heat. All in all, if you can get past the scent, its a great once or twice a week soap.

I am glad I got this as a small sample in my last order because I don't ever see myself buying this. It makes my skin soft and all but the smell is just horrible. At first it smells like a musty forest, then it turns into the smell of a stale campfire while you're washing with it. It also doesn't last long either, not that I wanted it to anyways. Sorry LUSH, this is awful.

I got this soap as a sample in my last order and through the plastic wrap it smelled more like a men's item to me, so I gave it to my husband to try.

When first removed from the package it did have a very strong smell that I didn't like. I told him it smelled like a big clod of dirt. But, the scent it left on his skin afterward was not as strong and was actually nice. It lasted all day also. He said he got compliments on it all day and I'm here to buy him some now.

So I can see how some people might not like the scent, especially at first..and it's not for everyone, but if you're the kind of guy/girl that likes that type of earthy aroma, once you get past the initial slap in the face/nose smell of it, it does leave a nice scent on the skin.

            Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

Let's start with the scent of this soap - it is a strong smell, like a souk or some other exotic place. I love it, but understand that others may not feel the same way (there are other Lush products that I don't like the smell of, but others love; such is life).

This is a great soap for men or women. My guy uses it and he smells fantastic all day long. I work in public health so a strongly scented bath soap can be a real blessing at work sometimes, plus it makes me feel homey and happy to smell it in the middle of a stressful workday.

The drawbacks are that it doesn't last long in the shower, and the pumice part tends to be the last bit left, which is scratchy. I also find it drying, so I don't like to use it on my face. I wish they made this soap minus the pumice, maybe as a bath gel.

Mostly I'm grateful that this soap is back in production! It was gone for a while, and I bought some off of a seller on an auction site who was in the Philippines, it is that worth it to me.

            Comments about LUSH Waylander Rhassoul:

I love everything about this soap. So much so that I'm adding a second review. What prompted me to write about it once more is all the compliments I receive. I use it in combination with Aromaco deodorant. The scents commingle to create a smoky, earthy and entirely fabulous fragrance that lasts all day. I used up my last bar months ago and am dying for my yearly Lush Gift Certificate so I can stock up. I use Waylander Rhassoul with "scrubby gloves" in the tub and get double the exfoliation in addition to enjoying the mysterious and addictive scent. It's one of the reasons Lush products are so unique.

How rough is this soap? Is there enough pumice to make this a real exfoliant?

It honestly isn't rough at all. It is very soft like washing with clay. If there is pumice it is dust. It's still a great soap. If you want exfoliation try sandstone. It smells like lemons and suntan oil. It will rub your epidermis off. lol

It's very gentle, more creamy than exfoliating.

I think this is best for keeping hands and skin smoother than non-exfoliating products. I use it constantly, so yes, the pumice content is good for everyday use...not for heavy exfoliating; more of a buffer!

The Waylander Rhassoul does have a bit of scrub to it, but it's not as rough as say, Sandstone soap for instance. It's more of a light to medium level of scrub, if that helps.
