I am very, very lazy about putting lotion on after a bath or shower because of a chronic pain disorder. Sometimes, it's just too much effort to contort my sore joints so I can rub lotion on. This body butter cuts out that step in my routine. I rub it on my wet skin and sort of work it in the worst dry spots, and around my joints where it gets very painful. It is very, very gritty, which is something I enjoy, but I could see where it would be irritating to others.

After I'm out and have *gently* (I can't stress that enough, ladies and gents) towel-dried, I am very soft. I imagine I'll only get softer with repeat uses, but I'm very happy with the immediate results.

The smell of the bar itself is a bit strong, but not unpleasant. I'm a fan of bergamot and black current. On your skin, it is delightfully subtle and leaves one smelling of cherry cola. My husband definitely approves!

And, come on, how fun is it to make your skin go black in the shower? I loved to play with mud when I was a kid, and the same is true of me as an adult. It's just plain entertaining.

I've always had really dry skin, especially on my feet and legs, and I've been a faithful user of Aqua Mirabilis body butter for a few months now, but I felt like mixing it up at my last Lush stop so I purchased this black scrubby bar instead.

PROS:
The first thing I noticed is that it smells DIVINE, just like the Comforter bubble bar. So I hopped in the shower, and scrubbed up; It did work wonders on my legs and the rest of my body, leaving me nice and smooth on my chest and arms, and feeling just-shaved on my legs...

CONS:
...but did absolutely nothing for my roughest spots: my feet. I was disappointed there because the catalog made it out to be a really intense exfoliater, when really, Aqua did so much better for me. Here was the real clincher: THE BLACK BATH TUB AFTERWARDS. It was AWFUL, it looked like someone dumped a tray of Oreos in my tub >< I had to scrub on my hands and knees for ages to get the tub at least GREY. Not exactly what I want to do after a relaxing shower...

All in all I'll be sticking with Aqua Mirabilis. It may not smell as lovely, but I'll take that over a nasty tub any day!

Comments about You Snap The Whip Body Butter:

When I first smelled this product I fell in love! It smells so good! However, when I used it, it got all over my tub and shower walls and stained the bottom of it. It also stained the skin around my underarms and breasts. The smell lingers on your skin for a few hours after, which is nice. But with it being so messy, and staining my tub and me, it's just not worth it to me to repurchase it. Go with the sweetie pie shower jelly instead, it smells just like it!

Comments about You Snap The Whip Body Butter:

OH MUH GAWD!
This bar of delicious yum-yum is THE single reason I view showers as a pleasurable experience now, as opposed to a chore that needs to get done at some point. This is my #1 favorite Lush product (and trust, I'm very fussy, have sensitive skin, a sensitive nose, and own many other Lush products, this is THE ONE). I use this in conjunction with my Back For Breakfast shower gel and Each Peach moisturizing bar. My skin has never felt/looked better! I have KP and blotchiness on my upper arms and this stuff has been surprisingly effective at improving the tone and clarity of my skin all around. Even on days when I'm too lazy to use my moisturizing bar, my skin still looks and feels soft, smooth, and dewy. I use this first thing in the shower, and then wash with Back for Breakfast. The moisturizing properties of the cocoa and shea butter can still be felt even when using the soap afterwards. I also really love the fact that the Blackcurrant oil in this (aside from giving it that heavenly, non-headache inducing smell) has Gamma Linolenic Acid (an omega 3!) that does wonders for skin!

Comments about You Snap The Whip Body Butter:

I have become recently obsessed with this product. When i went into the store, it was always something i was curious about, but after making the purchase, i've never been happier. You snap the whip smells AMAZING, and really does its job with exfoliating your skin. You will feel silky smooth in no time.

The issues I had with this product were few. One that is was REALLY Messy, i mean black water EVERYWHERE, The other, is that in one use, it was already half the size that it was at purchase.

Goodbye chicken arms!

Comments about You Snap The Whip Body Butter:

Whenever I drop by my local Lush store (which is probably more often than I should go, haha) I don't give much consideration to the body butters, going instead for the more flashy bath bombs and bubble bars. My most recent shopping venture was to check out a new limited edition massage bar, and this product was on display along with the new massage bar. The sales associate said that it is great for people who have oily skin, as the other body butters can be a bit heavy, so I decided to give it a try. I did like the smell, after all.

Holy chicken arms, batman! Like many other fair-skinned people, I am cursed with keratosis pilaris (those annoying red bumps on the upper arms). When I used this for the first time, the majority of the bumps disappeared! I don't know if they were exfoliated into oblivion or if there is some other magical power at work, but my arms are now smooth. It isn't super moisturizing, at least not for me, but since I have naturally oily skin anyway, that isn't a huge concern for me. And it's a bit messy, but that's a small price to pay for soft, smooth arms. :D

Yes, this bar will melt like an ice cube under running water, but it's quite simple- just don't stand under the shower head when scrubbing yourself down, and once you're done with it, tuck it away someplace safe away from the shower. In my bathroom, it lives on the windowsill behind the curtain. I've used it at least five times already and I fully expect to get at least five more uses out of it, probably more.

This is the only product I have ever used from Lush that I did not like. I love the body butters (Buffy is probably my fav), but this one just didn't do it for me. It left my bathtub with dark spots that resembled mold and I had to scrub to get it off. I didn't care for the smell - it reminds me of bubblegum. If you like that smell, this may be your cup of tea. It also didn't exfoliate as well as I would have thought. Buffy and Sandstone do a better job in that area. It also melts verrrry quickly. And yes, I chop mine into pieces, but the pieces that I cut are mostly melted by the time I'm finished running them over my legs! On top of all that, it didn't provide that much moisture, in my opinion. I won't be repurchasing...I'll stick with the others. Still love you, Lush!!

This is the best thing I have EVER purchased from Lush. If I could walk around in public with this on my body I would. The smell is fantastic and it looks incredible. I feel so clean and soft after using this! The only thing is, I dont use it in the shower. I rub this all over before hopping in the shower and then rinse it off and use body wash. You still feel super soft and nice and its not as complicaated and messy. Plus it keeps so so much longer than using it under running water. Try it this way and I promise you wont be disappointed. Also if you tan or go spray tanning, this is awesome as a pre-tan exfoliator!

Comments about You Snap The Whip Body Butter:

Love, love, love this product. First of all, it smells awesome -- I was a bit leery of it in the store, but it's fantastic in actuality and not too strong. Second of all, it works wonderfully as a moisturizer. It goes on smoothly, with just a hint of exfoliation from the charcoal, and it spreads easily over my skin. It's just the right amount of moisture of my torso, especially when used after a slightly drying soap like Mud Flats, and it never feels greasy or too heavy.

Now, a couple of issues others have mentioned: It definitely does "melt" pretty quickly. I forgot to try cutting it up into chunks to use, so I'll have to try that next time, but I can say it definitely helps to turn off your shower when applying this. I usually go through my whole routine with face and hair and body washing, and then cut the water and use You Snap the Whip. It spreads wonderfully just using the water on your skin and doesn't seem to melt as quickly. I usually just swipe it across general regions, put it back in the tin, and then spread it around and work it into my skin really well. It does create a bit of a mess in my shower, but it's easy enough to rinse away once you turn the water back on. Additionally, I also noticed the charcoal residue sticking to my skin a bit (especially around my underarms) but I've found the more time I spend rubbing it into my skin before I rinse, the less seems to stick.

yes, this product can get messy. yes, you might have to clean up your bathtub after you use it (is that necessarily a bad thing?) but honestly, if you have problem skin...this product really does help. and it will make cleaning your tub after worth it.

i don't think this is for everyone, as it IS quite exfoliating, and if you have extremely delicate skin, i can see it being a bit scratchy. but the charcoal does what it's supposed to do, and the scent is lovely. it's not going to moisturize you like buffy does, nor will it scrub calluses off your feet. but if you have KP, or a body breakout, or even just want to feel extremely clean...give this a try.

just make sure to store it properly, as it does tend to melt quickly. cut it into smaller pieces to keep the bulk of it dry, and if at all possible, don't use it directly under the water. it's not going to last forever, but if you make an effort, you'll get longer use of it!

It will get all over your tub, but its easy to clean up. my skin feels so soft after using this, and thats saying something considering i have KP. The only downside is how fast it melts! only a few uses before the bar is gone, if i could find a way to make it last longer it would be the perfect product.

I can't say enough nice things about this body scrub. Hop in the shower, rub this bad boy over problem areas (oily patches, areas prone to break-out, bumpy bits), rinse, and boom - problem solved! The rough charcoal banishes bumpies and oil, and the cherry scent left behind is to die for, and not at all overwhelming or greasy. Further, while I sometimes break out after using some LUSH body bars, this is certainly not one of them. Only downsides are the fact that this bar (with intensive use - it was the week of my wedding and I wanted clear, perfect skin) only really lasted about a week. Also, the charcoal will leave a ring around your tub or black marks in your shower if you don't rinse it off well. Not a deal-breaker, just something to know in advance. That said, this is hands-down my favorite body bar in the LUSH catalogue - my skin never behaves better than when I use it consistently.

Comments about You Snap The Whip Body Butter:

So I was a little silly using this the first time, I did not think about its color. I usually take a bath, use the sugar scrub, rinse off in the shower and then body butter. This body butter is black, and it goes on so smoothly it almost lathers. I had no problem rising it off, just felt silly, so remember, it's black!! I love that my skin had no trouble absorbing this butter, but it was also very moisturizing.

Comments about You Snap The Whip Body Butter:

I've always had issues with my arms being tender and sensitive, and people who touch them have compared them to sandpaper more than once. I was getting real tired of that, real fast, so off to Lush I went.
Originally, I was going to try Buffy, but I'd picked up some of my blackcurrant favorites like Sweetie Pie and The Comforter, so I decided on this one to avoid any possibility of the scents clashing. My good friends at Lush recommended it to me and showed me how to use it, and I was excited to try it out!
In the shower, I use it after I've done everything else, just before I get out. I reach for it out of my soap dish, run it over my arms once or twice, and then massage in what's rubbed off. That's what the people at Lush recommended to me, and after using it for nearly two weeks it doesn't seem to have gotten any smaller! The pumice exfoliates without rubbing your arms raw, but I do need to grab a washcloth to make sure all the black is off my arms. But wow, what a difference it makes! I asked the same people to check out my arms now, and they're amazed at the difference. They're soft and smooth, and the scent is wonderful too. I'm going to keep using this product to whip my skin into shape.
One thing I have noticed is that I need to rinse really, really thoroughly. Sometimes, I'm left with a little bit of a greasy/sticky feeling on my skin after I get out of the shower, though it usually absorbs overnight. I'll take that with it, though, if it means my skin stays this moisturized and lovely!

Comments about You Snap The Whip Body Butter:

I love ever Lush Body Butter I have tried and was super excited to try YSTW expecting it to be just as amazing. The smell is not something I enjoy, it is a weird fruity smell that I can't put my finger on. The scent is not unpleasant but I am glad it doesn't linger. I have used this bar twice and it has only 2 more uses left.
The product itself is not moisturizing AT ALL, granted it doesn't leave my body feeling tight but it really seems like it's not buttery at all. It is not very scrubby either but rather more of a Coal Face bar for your body. I have tend to get acne on my bottom and shoulders and I can tell that this would be a good treatment when spots pop up but other than that this bar is a poor value and not worth the clean up after using it either.
In the end I will use this bar 2 more times and never buy it again, I will be sticking to Buffy and Schnuggle.

So I was a little disappointed with this one. i was expect a SUPER rough exfoliation but honestly Buffy is more rough. BUT I love the way it formed a kinda mask on my skin. Smells wonderful. Would buy again but not over Buffy.

Comments about You Snap The Whip Body Butter:

First of all, this product smells divine. Unfortunately, that is the only thing this product has going for it. I decided to try it in place of Buffy, and was sorely disappointed. While I generally love the messiness inherent in some of Lush's products, I did NOT love how it left my skin an ashy tone that did not wash off easily. Even with FURTHER exfoliation. My skin was left sore, still with grey spots from where it wouldn't wash off, and my dry skin practically untouched. Then, there was the bathtub...

Bottom line, save your money. It smells good, but there are better products.

Definitely, yes. It has improved the look and feel of the KP on my upper arms. I think that the combination of the Linolenic acid, and shea/cocoa butter soothes the skin while the pumice is an effective mechanical exfoliator. The soothing oils and scrubbiness combined has worked really well for my back acne as well, without irritating it. The way I use it, is to put it on first thing in the shower and then use the Back For Breakfast shower gel. My skin has definitely improved :)

                      Hi,
I bought this about 6 months back, cut it into small pieces, put it in a box, stored in the fridge so it does not melt and forgot about it. I recently found it and used a part of it once. I felt itchy the rest of the day/night. How long do these products stay good?

                        A:

The shelf-life of this body butter is 14 months. There's no need to cut it into smaller pieces (unless you prefer). If you experienced itchiness after use, this might indicate an allergy to one of the ingredients, so I'd recommend discontinuing use, and consulting with your physician about any allergies.

Yes, you can definitely prolong your body butters' life by cutting smaller pieces to use while leaving the rest solid and dry.

It might. I think that the reason people find it running out so quickly is because it's not being stored properly. I purchased the square tin with it and mine lasted me about 7-8 months. I think the tin was like five bucks, but well worth it!
