I am very, very lazy about putting lotion on after a bath or shower because of a chronic pain disorder. Sometimes, it's just too much effort to contort my sore joints so I can rub lotion on. This body butter cuts out that step in my routine. I rub it on my wet skin and sort of work it in the worst dry spots, and around my joints where it gets very painful. It is very, very gritty, which is something I enjoy, but I could see where it would be irritating to others.

After I'm out and have *gently* (I can't stress that enough, ladies and gents) towel-dried, I am very soft. I imagine I'll only get softer with repeat uses, but I'm very happy with the immediate results.

The smell of the bar itself is a bit strong, but not unpleasant. I'm a fan of bergamot and black current. On your skin, it is delightfully subtle and leaves one smelling of cherry cola. My husband definitely approves!

And, come on, how fun is it to make your skin go black in the shower? I loved to play with mud when I was a kid, and the same is true of me as an adult. It's just plain entertaining.

I've always had really dry skin, especially on my feet and legs, and I've been a faithful user of Aqua Mirabilis body butter for a few months now, but I felt like mixing it up at my last Lush stop so I purchased this black scrubby bar instead.

PROS:
The first thing I noticed is that it smells DIVINE, just like the Comforter bubble bar. So I hopped in the shower, and scrubbed up; It did work wonders on my legs and the rest of my body, leaving me nice and smooth on my chest and arms, and feeling just-shaved on my legs...

CONS:
...but did absolutely nothing for my roughest spots: my feet. I was disappointed there because the catalog made it out to be a really intense exfoliater, when really, Aqua did so much better for me. Here was the real clincher: THE BLACK BATH TUB AFTERWARDS. It was AWFUL, it looked like someone dumped a tray of Oreos in my tub >< I had to scrub on my hands and knees for ages to get the tub at least GREY. Not exactly what I want to do after a relaxing shower...

All in all I'll be sticking with Aqua Mirabilis. It may not smell as lovely, but I'll take that over a nasty tub any day!

Comments about LUSH You Snap The Whip:

I love the smell of you sanp the whip. I wasn't sure it was going to smell good because of the charcoal but i was pleasantly surprized. It will get all over your tub, but its easy to clean up. my skin feels so soft after using this, and thats saying something considering i have KP. The only downside is how fast it melts! only a few uses before the bar is gone, if i could find a way to make it last longer it would be the perfect product.

Comments about LUSH You Snap The Whip:

I can't say enough nice things about this body scrub. Hop in the shower, rub this bad boy over problem areas (oily patches, areas prone to break-out, bumpy bits), rinse, and boom - problem solved! The rough charcoal banishes bumpies and oil, and the cherry scent left behind is to die for, and not at all overwhelming or greasy. Further, while I sometimes break out after using some LUSH body bars, this is certainly not one of them. Only downsides are the fact that this bar (with intensive use - it was the week of my wedding and I wanted clear, perfect skin) only really lasted about a week. Also, the charcoal will leave a ring around your tub or black marks in your shower if you don't rinse it off well. Not a deal-breaker, just something to know in advance. That said, this is hands-down my favorite body bar in the LUSH catalogue - my skin never behaves better than when I use it consistently.

So I was a little silly using this the first time, I did not think about its color. I usually take a bath, use the sugar scrub, rinse off in the shower and then body butter. This body butter is black, and it goes on so smoothly it almost lathers. I had no problem rising it off, just felt silly, so remember, it's black!! I love that my skin had no trouble absorbing this butter, but it was also very moisturizing.

Comments about LUSH You Snap The Whip:

I've always had issues with my arms being tender and sensitive, and people who touch them have compared them to sandpaper more than once. I was getting real tired of that, real fast, so off to Lush I went.
Originally, I was going to try Buffy, but I'd picked up some of my blackcurrant favorites like Sweetie Pie and The Comforter, so I decided on this one to avoid any possibility of the scents clashing. My good friends at Lush recommended it to me and showed me how to use it, and I was excited to try it out!
In the shower, I use it after I've done everything else, just before I get out. I reach for it out of my soap dish, run it over my arms once or twice, and then massage in what's rubbed off. That's what the people at Lush recommended to me, and after using it for nearly two weeks it doesn't seem to have gotten any smaller! The pumice exfoliates without rubbing your arms raw, but I do need to grab a washcloth to make sure all the black is off my arms. But wow, what a difference it makes! I asked the same people to check out my arms now, and they're amazed at the difference. They're soft and smooth, and the scent is wonderful too. I'm going to keep using this product to whip my skin into shape.
One thing I have noticed is that I need to rinse really, really thoroughly. Sometimes, I'm left with a little bit of a greasy/sticky feeling on my skin after I get out of the shower, though it usually absorbs overnight. I'll take that with it, though, if it means my skin stays this moisturized and lovely!

Comments about LUSH You Snap The Whip:

I love ever Lush Body Butter I have tried and was super excited to try YSTW expecting it to be just as amazing. The smell is not something I enjoy, it is a weird fruity smell that I can't put my finger on. The scent is not unpleasant but I am glad it doesn't linger. I have used this bar twice and it has only 2 more uses left.
The product itself is not moisturizing AT ALL, granted it doesn't leave my body feeling tight but it really seems like it's not buttery at all. It is not very scrubby either but rather more of a Coal Face bar for your body. I have tend to get acne on my bottom and shoulders and I can tell that this would be a good treatment when spots pop up but other than that this bar is a poor value and not worth the clean up after using it either.
In the end I will use this bar 2 more times and never buy it again, I will be sticking to Buffy and Schnuggle.

Comments about LUSH You Snap The Whip:

First of all, this product smells divine. Unfortunately, that is the only thing this product has going for it. I decided to try it in place of Buffy, and was sorely disappointed. While I generally love the messiness inherent in some of Lush's products, I did NOT love how it left my skin an ashy tone that did not wash off easily. Even with FURTHER exfoliation. My skin was left sore, still with grey spots from where it wouldn't wash off, and my dry skin practically untouched. Then, there was the bathtub...

Bottom line, save your money. It smells good, but there are better products.

Comments about LUSH You Snap The Whip:

I love body butters, and this was the last one on my list of BBs to try. I enjoy Buffy, but the greasiness is sometimes too much. Aqua Mirabilis is perfection except the bar melts quickly. King of Skin is great for moisture but can be greasy too, and with no exfoliation. I was so excited to try You Snap the Whip, hoping it would give the same grease-free exfoliation while lasting longer than Aqua.
YSTW smells like the gum inside a Blow Pop. I like the scent but not my fav Lush scent by far. The bar is black (obviously), but I didn't realize it would have a similar effect as Glorious Mud... It really leaves a "mask" effect and colors your body black until you rinse. I wouldn't mind the messiness if the bar lasted longer, but it is nearly gone after two showers. I used it out of the water and conserved as much as I could, but nevertheless it only has about one more use left. To me, this bar is not worth the blackness you have to rinse away (keep in mind, I usually never mind messy Lush products). The exfoliation is good, nothing crazy, and certainly not as much as my beloved Sandstone. Overall, having to rinse the shower walls and watch the bar disappear so quickly is not worth it for YSTW. I prefer Aqua Mirabilis over this, and highly recommend Sandstone for a bar that both Scrubs and Lasts!!! :D and it's cheaper!

I like this product quite a bit. After using it my skin feels wonderfully smooth and the smell is great. I have typically extra-dry AA skin and I must always use a moisturizer directly after bathing or it isn't just very dry but you can SEE how dry in about 20 minutes. I use this product and I don't actually need to moisturize till the next day. A tip on preservance though: Immediately after buying chop the bar into quarters and freeze them. Use one quarter at a time and it will last 4 uses. It dissolves very quickly with water and will melt with warmth.

Comments about LUSH You Snap The Whip:

I discovered Lush at the King of Prussia mall near Philly. I immediately fell in love with the uniqueness and variety of the products. And they way they're shelved is so cool! Anyway, I purchased YSTW among other things and, almost a year later, I still make sure I include a bar or two in every purchase I make! YSTW is amazing. My boyfriend and I both adore the smell. So much so that when I'm going to use it I let him know so he can shower with me and enjoy the smell. I let him use it sometimes when he's being extra sweet! You can definitely smell the sweet blackcurrant and it is divine. Good enought to eat! It's a must for me to have one bar in the shower (in a tin) and one bar stored away as a back-up.

It does melt fast, like other reviewers say, but I try all I can to make it last. I use a body butter tin to store it in the bathroom when it's not being used. I only use it about once a week as a treat for myself because I get so sad when a bar gets all used up! Also, when I do use it, I step away from the water, rub it on small areas of my body (a circle on my tummy, a streak down my arm, etc.), put the bar away, then rub/spread the product all over my body. I get just enough exfoliation that way and usually have enough product to cover my whole body. It also moisturizes enough where I don't need lotion afterward, unless I'm feeling extra dry (which doesn't usually happen). It leaves my skin soft and smelling great for most of the day :)

It can be a bit messy, but I kind of like that. And, like other reviewers say, it's easy to just rinse off the shower once I'm done with it to get the product off the walls or shower curtain.

The ONLY con I have to mention is there was one time I got a bar that didn't seem to have the exfoliation ingredients that the bar usually has. It was completely smooth. I've been through maybe 10-12 of these bars and only ran into this the one time. I love the roughness of the bar and was surprised when that particular bar wasn't rough at all. I'm not sure if I just got a bad bar, or if this happens sometimes. It didn't keep me from buying more though!

Bottom line, smells amazing, is very exfoliating, leaves your skin feeling moisturized and soft, and is a delight to use!

I can work a full day and still smell it on my skin. My body has never felt softer. Comments about LUSH You Snap The Whip:

I was a tiny bit disappointed in this one, to be honest! I wanted a little break from Buffy, as I find that it's a little too heavy for me in the summer (however, that can be fixed with a little dusting powder!), and so I decided to give this guy a try. I prefer the smell of You Snap The Whip over that of Buffy, and the amount of moisture it provides me with is just right. Only trouble is, I really had hoped that it would be really, really scrubby, but it only exfoliated my skin very slightly. The other thing I wasn't too crazy about was the fact that it shrunk so quickly! I tried using cooler water thinking that it was the temperature of my shower that had caused it to melt so quickly, but that wasn't much help. It also makes a huge mess in my shower and sticks to my tub quite a bit, but comes off with some scrubbing. I'd certainly buy it again, but I would only use it rarely or when I need some motivation to clean my bathroom!

Comments about LUSH You Snap The Whip:

SO I am ALWAYS mean to my skin. I work hard and play hard, and take care of my skin accordingly. I am a cerial exfoliator to keep it soft. I will use a sugar scrub and loofa every shower, and rub rub rub at any bumps or imperfect patches.

I was almost startled by how rough this was!! I have never used an exfoliant this effective!! I used it on the backs of my arms and it instantly banished those dumb little red bumps so many of us suffer from! I then used it on a fully healed but still dry and peeling old sunburn and my skin was flawless after! I am in love with this product!

                  A few notes and tips:
Mine did arrive a little melty (it was warm out, but not hot. 75 maybe?) But I popped it into the fridge and no problem! I store it in there in a ziplock now :)

Melts away very quickly!! It is very nice and buttery, but the downside to that is it is very soluble. I wet myself in the shower, turn off the water, scrub down and tuck the bar away outside the shower, then resume showering. This is the only reason I gave 4 starts. It is a bit of a hassle to extend this bar's life. WOrth it though!!

Will make a dark gray mess of you and the shower, but it does not stick or stain. washes right down the drain easily, so no worries :)

I was initially devoted to Buffy (and I still love Buffy), but I wanted something that would exfoliate well, but without leaving my shower floor greasy. You Snap the Whip isn't as moisturizing as Buffy, but it's refreshing, scrubby and it smells delicious (just like the Comforter Bubble Bar!)

Warning: there will be blue/grey water all over your shower! It doesn't stick, it's just a bit of a surprise! :)

I purchased one of these about 2 years ago. Since then I haven't been able to find it, I believe my local retailer has stopped carrying it *sad face*. I'm so happy to see it's still available online. This thing is AMAZING! I have eczema patches on my legs, oily skin on my chest and back, and dry skin on my arms and feet. This thing does wonders for it all! It completely balanced everything out. I didn't even have to use lotion after! I was just smoothing it over my body and then rubbing it in. I even used it to shave with no problems. I bought the tin with it, and never had any issues with it melting super quick. It lasted me about 7-8 months. That's well worth [$] to me. I almost forgot to mention house delicious it smells. Absolutely wonderful black currant fragrance. I love love love this thing. I've decided to switch back to more natural products and I'm even getting my husband used to the idea. Hopefully my local retailer has restocked this so I can pick it up this weekend!

I bought this today and I couldn't wait to get home and try it. I was not disappoted with the way the product performed, but I was disappoited with the overall quality of the product. First let me say, it smelled fantastic and it worked the way I thought it would, however, it disolved VERY radpidly. When I finished using it the bar was HALF the size that it was before I began using it. It's way too expensive to disolve that quickly.

Admittedly, I did not like this product at first. I was expecting it to be essentially the same thing as Buffy, but just scented differently, and there was my fatal flaw! Because of this, I didn't think it was "moisturizing enough" and I was put off my the black mess.
However, after a while, I took to using it on my chest and shoulders, areas that need exfoliation, but not as heavy a moisturizer as Buffy and it's worked like a dream. At the end of my showers I scrub this on my shoulders and chest and stand out of the water while I scrub it in nice and good. Not only does it provide the perfect amount of moisturizer for this part of my body, but I swear the coal is clearing the acne on my chest. And it smells great.
                          Love love love it!

Comments about LUSH You Snap The Whip:

My skin isn't super dry but it does feel a little tight when I use soap or a body wash and don't follow with a lotion.
You Snap The Whip smells like fruit but not fresh fruit. It smells like fruit compote or a pie, it's very soft, sweet, warm and mellow. I like to use it after Sweetie Pie which, to me, smells very much alike.
After rinsing the soap off I shut the shower off and rub the bar on my skin in single streaks along my arms, legs, belly and back. Then I put the bar away and rub my skin with my hands until I feel it's exfoliated enough. It is pretty rough but I like it. Don't use it on dry skin though, it might scratch, especially if you're not used to it. Then I turn water back on, rinse off and pat myself dry.
The good thing about the bar is that you can get dressed immediately, it soaks right into your skin. If you have very dry skin, it might not be moisturizing enough for you, it is very light.
It exfoliates well but it may be too rough for sensitive skin.
It melts quickly. I used it 4 times so far and I'd say 3/4 of it is already gone. And I use it sparingly. I'm pretty sure if I used it according to the direction (under water in bath or shower) it would be gone in 2-3 applications.
Due to the charcoal, it is a messy business, it leaves gray streaks and splashes on shower walls, curtain, bathtub etc. Fortunately, it rinses off easily.
One more thing, if you're like me and like your showers to be on a cool side (hot water dries out your skin) you'll have to make it warmer for this one. Not thinking clearly I tried to rinse the buttery charcoal off with a lukewarm stream and ended up with dark gray bruise-like patterns all over my body. Even when I turned the warm water up the charcoal just smeared without washing off. I had to soap up again to get it off. You need the warmth to have all the good oils and butters melt into your skin:)
The wonderful smell lingers on your skin but it's very subtle, you can only smell it when you put your nose directly to your arm (which I did a lot:))
Overall, I'll probably buy it again but use it only occasionally. It disappears way too quickly to use every time you shower or bathe.

My skin is already fairly soft, save for a few rougher spots on my feet (super oily skin has to have some upside). But even so, a little exfoliation is good for everyone, right? And this stuff has a great name. So I love the smell, and how it goes on looking like wet ash, and leaves my skin with a soft clean feeling (as opposed to the squeaky clean you get with soap and hard water). And for my skin, at least, it was almost painfully scratchy (which I can appreciate, with the way it's marketed). My only complaint seems to be everyone's complaint: after one full body rubdown it's at least 1/3 gone. For the $ it should last a bit longer. I think my make-it-last strategy will be to rub a bit onto my hands, and then run them over my skin. That should tone down the intensity a bit, as well, for those who don't like it quite so rough.

                              Hi,
I bought this about 6 months back, cut it into small pieces, put it in a box, stored in the fridge so it does not melt and forgot about it. I recently found it and used a part of it once. I felt itchy the rest of the day/night. How long do these products stay good?

The shelf-life of this body butter is 14 months. There's no need to cut it into smaller pieces (unless you prefer). If you experienced itchiness after use, this might indicate an allergy to one of the ingredients, so I'd recommend discontinuing use, and consulting with your physician about any allergies.

It might. I think that the reason people find it running out so quickly is because it's not being stored properly. I purchased the square tin with it and mine lasted me about 7-8 months. I think the tin was like five bucks, but well worth it!

Yes, you can definitely prolong your body butters' life by cutting smaller pieces to use while leaving the rest solid and dry.
