Paws & Listen

As a company that cares deeply for animal welfare, we were horrified by the needless slaughter of 100 sled dogs in Whistler in April of 2010. The following spring, we partnered with the Vancouver Humane Society (VHS) to encourage our customers to 'paws and listen' about the suffering of sled dogs. Our British Columbia shops asked their customers to sign postcards addressed to the Minister of Agriculture demanding a ban on dog sled races and tours. We held walks in Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler with concerned customers and their canine companions in protest of the dog sledding industry, and of course, it wouldn't be a LUSH campaign without a beautiful limited edition product to raise funds for the VHS! PAWS soap was sold in our BC shops and online during the month of the campaign.

Our Partners

The Vancouver Humane Society is a registered charity dedicated to exposing animal abuse and assisting individuals, businesses and governments to end animal suffering, cruelty and exploitation. Funding comes primarily from donations, and our activities are made possible with the generous assistance of volunteers. For more information, visit www.vancouverhumanesociety.bc.ca

Our Progress

You couldn't wait to get your paws on our limited edition soap! The proceeds raised from PAWS soap totaled $14,500 and were donated to the Vancouver Humane Society (VHS). 10,725 of you signed our petition to ban dog sled races and tours in British Columbia, and our voices were heard! VHS presented our signatures along with thousands of others at a hearing in Vancouver, and British Columbia now has the strictest animal cruelty laws in Canada.
