10 Ways to Welcome Summer

LUSH Life

It’s summer! Long, languid days filled with hot weather, backyard BBQs, days at the beach and drinks on the patio are all on our must-do list. To welcome the season, we’ve put together a list of our favorite ways to celebrate the solstice and spend as much time outdoors as possible until the leaves change colors. Welcome summer. We’re ready for ya!

Summer fun

1. Let’s get this party started

What better way to welcome summer than with a party? Good food, good friends and good fun make it easy to celebrate the solstice and welcome the season with wide, open arms.

2. Scrub and rub

Change up your skincare routine. Keep toes sandal-ready with our DIY pedicure, and give your skin some summer TLC by exfoliating dry, dead skin with a scrubby cleanser like Ocean Salt, and keep it hydrated with a rich moisturizer like Dream Cream – the oat milk in it also helps soothe and relieve skin that’s irritated from too much sun.

3. Break out the summer gear

Sandals, flip flops and shorts, oh my! Trade out those sweaters, long pants, jackets and toe-oppressing shoes for lighter, more summer-friendly wear. It’s the easiest way to be cool this summer.

4. Hit the road

Pack your bags, grab your friends and head out on the summer’s first road trip. Go old school and carve out your adventure on a map, go off the beaten path, or make it a bike trip. Wherever you end up is sure to be full of good friends and good times.

5. Throw an outdoor movie night

Hot summer days usually mean hot nights. Invite the neighbors over and host a movie night under the stars right in your own backyard. We found the perfect setup from Celebrations that’s sure to be a blockbuster hit complete with an eco-friendly solution to keep the bugs away.

6. Make a summer reading list

When you’re sitting in the sun and enjoying the weather, what better way to relax than with a good book? Check out this huge list of some of our favorite books – both new and old – from Good Reads, and get your summer reading list started.

7. Take me out to the ball game

At home or away, get outside and cheer on your favorite team. There’s nothing more exciting than being at the first game of the season and being in the thick of all the action live and in-person.

8. Get a little culture

Whatever city you live in, chances are you’ll find plenty of local food, music or arts festivals. Pick up a local newspaper and make a list of events that are happening near you. It’s the best way to discover a little local culture.

9. Make cool, healthy snacks

To beat the summer heat, popsicles are a must-have no matter how old you are. We’ve got the perfect icy treats that are easy to make, delicious and healthy. Keep them stocked in your freezer and you’ll always be ready to cool down.

10. Get fresh

Everything is in full bloom right now and it’s the best time to hit your local farmer’s market. Check out what fruits and vegetables are blooming right now (there will be LOTS) and celebrate the season with something new for dinner.
