Summer DIY: Mangnificent Mango Lemonade

LUSH Life

Summer is in full swing and it’s time to make the most of the gorgeous sunshine! Whether that means participating in an intense bocce ball tournament or simply lounging on the patio, there’s nothing more refreshing than a cold fruity drink on a hot summer’s day.

Lucky for you, we’ve taken inspiration from our brand new Mangnificent soap and created a delicious mango lemonade recipe! Mangnificent soap contains a tropical blend of fresh pureed mango and Sicilian lemon oil to snap you into an energized, wakeful state and leave your skin feeling clean and bright.

While these ingredients are beautiful for your skin, they also make for a refreshing tropical summer drink. The sweetness of mangoes makes the perfect match for the tart taste of lemons. This recipe serves 4, but feel free to double (or triple!) it to serve a crowd.

Here’s what you’ll need:

3 cups of water

1/3 cup sugar plus 2 tablespoons for your glass rims

2 mangoes

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4 lemons)

Step 1

In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water and stir frequently over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 2

Slice your mangoes into cubes, removing the fruit from the peel. Not sure about the best way to cut a mango? Neither were we. Watch this handy video to become a mango-slicing pro in no time!

Step 3

Squeeze the juice from your lemons, being careful to extract the pits. 4 lemons should yield about 1 cup of lemon juice, but this will vary depending on their size and juiciness.

Step 4

Combine your mango fruit, water/sugar mixture and lemon juice in a blender or food processor and whizz it up until it’s smooth.

Step 5

Chill the mixture in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve it. Give it a quick stir and serve over ice in a sugar-rimmed glass.

There you have it! A fantastically fruity drink to keep you cool and hydrated during the summer’s hottest days. Looking for drinks with a bit more kick? Check out our LUSH-inspired cocktails too!
