Loranda Vazquez

Loranda's LUSH story begins fresh out of university. Knowing she wanted to write for a living, but not knowing where to start, she turned to her friends and family for words of wisdom. Loranda's father-in-law gave her the following advice: "Find a company that you love, and find out how to do what you love for that company". She applied at one place - LUSH.
Loranda began as a sales associate and voiced her dream of one day becoming a copywriter. In the shop, she learned about the brand, products and ingredients and moved into managing. Next she traveled around North America setting up new stores and training staff on LUSH merchandising with the Design Team. She practiced her LUSH writing every day! Finally a position opened up for copywriter - her dream job! Since the spring of 2009, Loranda's been writing for the LUSH Times, the website and everything in between.

Top Ten Checklist for a New Year’s Night In, and Out!

We’re looking forward to New Year’s Eve and deciding how we want to celebrate.

How will you ring in 2014? Will you go for a wild night out on the town or a cozy night in with family and friends? Either way, we have some LUSHous suggestions to make your New Year’s Eve more fragrant and fun.

Top 10 Checklist for a fun night IN

If you’re just looking to relax at home, or have kids of your own and can’t get a sitter, you might want to plan a fun night ringing in the New Year at home. Here’s our list of necessities for the perfect night at home, whether you’re celebrating with many friends or just your closest loved ones:

1. Party Decorations You could do the traditional decorations, but who needs party hats and streamers when you’ve got leftover bows and ribbons from presents?

2. Movies Find out what the top rated movies of 2013 were and see if they’re available to watch at home on the last day of the year. Check out Rotten Tomatoes’ list of the top 100 movies for 2013 here

3. Music Make a playlist of all your favorite songs from the year. Do the Gangnam Style dance one last time. Start a spontaneous Harlem Shake. Twerk it out and let loose, then let’s all agree to leave these trends in 2013.

4. Snacks... Lots of Snacks There can never be enough variety when it comes to snacks. Make sure you cover all the bases with something salty, sweet and of course, chocolatey. Check out where you can search for appetizer ideas that are vegan, vegetarian, wheat/gluten-free etc.

5. Celebratory Beverages Ring in the New Year with a bottle of champagne! If you don’t drink, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out; pick up fancy sparkling juice.

6. Fresh Face Masks Pop into your local LUSH shop and pick up a few Fresh Face Masks for you and your friends. Treat your skin to a refreshing blend of cleansing clays, fruits, vegetables and essential oils.

7. Volcano Foot Mask While you’re at your LUSH shop, grab a pot Volcano Foot Mask. Soften up those tired winter tootsies while watching movies.

8. Party Games! Board games, video games, karaoke, charades. Plan some party games that everyone can play while you wait for the ball to drop.

9. Massage Bar Pick out a Massage Bar you think you and your partner or friends would enjoy. From Dusk ‘Til Dawn is full of energizing oils to keep you going well into the New Year.

10. Pots and Pans Pots and pans are not just for cooking! They’re also necessary for banging in the New Year. Get out on the front porch and make some noise when the clock strikes midnight.

Top Ten Checklist to get ready for a New Year’s Night OUT!

Part of the fun of going out to party is getting ready, and that’s where we’ve got you covered. Start with a celebratory soak in the tub or a citrusy wake-me-up shower, choose which emotion you’d like to project with Emotional Brilliance and spritz on your party perfume! Here’s our list of night-out necessities:

1. Upbeat Tunes Whether it’s the top 20 from 2013 or just your all-time favorite energizing music, pump up the jams and start getting ready. Billboard has a list of the best music of 2013 which you can find here.

2. Healthy Snacks Cut up some fruit, pour a bowl of nuts and snack while you get ready; give yourself a healthy dose of energy before a night on the town!

3. Energizing Shower Lather up with zingy Whoosh shower jelly to get the party started, or Happy Hippy shower gel which is full of stimulating grapefruit juice.

4. Bath Bomb or Bubble Bar Run a warm bath and drop in a citrusy Avobath for a luxurious, pre-party soak. For massive amounts of glittering bubbles, try crumbling up a Sunnyside Bubble Bar.

5. Drinks! Bring a glass of bubbly champagne to enjoy in the tub, or a fancy sparkling juice as a non-alcoholic option.

6. Emotional Brilliance Pick out the Emotional Brilliance colors that represent the emotions you want to experience. Try Fantasy Liquid Gold Eyeliner, Happiness Eyeshadow or Glamorous liquid lipstick. Spin the color wheel online to find out what color and emotions your subconscious desires.

7. Dress What to wear? Pick the outfit that gives you the most confidence- the one you feel good in!

8. Perfume Tonight’s the night to try something new! Pick an energizing or alluring fragrance for party times, like 25:43, Lust or Euphoria.

9. The Number for a Cab Program the number for your local cab company into your phone to ensure a safe drive home.

10. Hydrate! Do your future self a favor and set a tall glass of water on your bedside table to drink before you go to sleep. You’ll feel better in the morning.

When you’re deciding how to spend New Year’s Eve, think about resolutions for the upcoming year. Do you intend to spend more family time with loved ones? Do you intend to take the time talking to and meeting new people? Setting an intention for how you spend the last night of the year can set the tone for the year to come. However you decide to spend this New Year’s Eve, we hope you stay safe and have fun!
