Make it: DIY popsicles

Posted In: LUSH Life >> DIY

It’s the start of a good thing…summer is just around the corner and we’re looking forward to long sunny afternoons spent on the patio with great company and delicious refreshments. Lucky for you, we’ve got a steady stream of delectable LUSH-inspired recipes in store to help you make the best of the season!

We’ve taken inspiration from the fresh ingredients in a few of our products to create our very own collection of LUSH-inspired frozen treats. They’re easy to make and super-refreshing!

Here’s what you’ll need to make the pops:

-Re-usable ice pop molds (if you don’t have reusable molds, use any freezable container you like: try using small glass jar and popsicle sticks.)

-A blender or food processor

-A freezer (with enough space to house your frozen treats)

-Ingredients as set out in the recipes below

We’ve blended them into a perfect summery treat to help us celebrate the season.

Step 2- Add shredded coconut and mix by hand.

Step 3- Fill your popsicle molds and place in the freezer.

Tip: For those who are crazy for the taste of coconut, toast your shredded coconut for even more delicious tropical flavor.

American Cream Pop

American Cream vegan popsicle recipe

Our ultra-fragrant American Cream conditioner is loaded with whole fresh strawberries and oranges to cleanse the hair and a generous dollop of sweet local honey to soften strands. We’ve taken this lovely blend of ingredients and made an icy pop that’s reminiscent of a bowl full of fresh strawberries and cream.

 -1 medium orange

-1 cup of sliced strawberries

-4 tablespoons vanilla extract

-1 ½ cup yogurt or coconut milk

-⅓ cup honey (optional)

American Cream vegan popsicle recipe ingredients

Step 1: Peel orange, remove seeds and blend fruit into a puree in a blender or food processor.

Step 2: Add vanilla extract and yogurt or coconut milk to the orange puree and blend briefly until well-mixed.

Step 3: Place sliced strawberries on the bottom and sides of the popsicle molds.

Step 4: Fill popsicle mold with yogurt/coconut milk mixture and freeze.

Each recipe will yield about 6 pops (depending on the size and shape of your molds) Sizes and moisture content of fruit will vary: As a general rule, to make about 6 pops you should have approximately 4 1/2 cups of mixture.

For all of the popsicle recipes, leave the pops in the freezer for 8 hours to ensure they’ve frozen completely through. To remove pops from their molds, dip the molds in hot water for a few seconds and gently pull on the stick to release.

We recommend eating the pops within a week of freezing for the freshest flavor…but we bet they won’t last that long!
