7 steps to a romantic Valentine’s night in

The season of love is upon us, but with busy schedules, family obligations and the stresses of daily life, romance often falls by the wayside. This Valentine’s Day, make a point of treating your partner (and yourself!) to a romantic and relaxing evening in. With these handy tips and a little preparation, you’ll be on your way to a sexy soiree in no time. Who knows, maybe it’ll become a regular tradition!

1. Save the date: choose your date well in advance and clear your schedule for the evening. You’ll feel much more relaxed if you don’t have errands and obligations looming.

2. Prepare yourself: when the big day arrives, hop in the shower or tub and lather up with some sensual-smelling suds. 5. Get cooking: once you’ve both relaxed a little, start preparing your meal. Light, appetizer-style dishes are best: they’re shareable, casual and fun to prepare together. Think stuffed mushrooms, crostinis, salads or dips. Trying a new recipe together is perfect for creating memories…even if it doesn’t turn out as well as you’d have liked!

6. Sit back and relax: enjoy your meal and drinks and let the conversation flow naturally. Take things slow and don’t rush: you’ve got all night! After your meal, have a few novel activities planned: do you two normally watch old movies on Netflix? Go for a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood, play a board game, or go stargazing instead. This will give you and your partner time to enjoy each other’s company in a new and exciting way.
