From Head to Toe: Caring for Your 5 Most Neglected Body Parts

While the skin may be the body's largest organ, our skin is not the same all over our body. Some areas are rough, others are sensitive - but it all needs to be taken care of. "I don't have time," you protest, "I don't want to add another step to my routine." Newsflash: It's super rewarding to look after the little things and it goes a long way towards keeping your skin healthy. We're calling shenanigans on you, and offering our easy tips and tricks for taking care of all your bits!

1. Lips

Did you know that your lips are unable to produce moisture? It's true! Lips don't contain sweat or sebaceous glands, so they have a hard time staying soft and smooth on their own. The thin skin often comes into contact with our saliva, which contains enzymes to break down food - and it does the same to the sensitive skin on our lips! This means that eating, drinking and even too much kissing (say it isn't so!) can lead to dry lips.

Before you go on a kissing strike, you should know that maintaining soft, healthy lips is easy (and delicious!) Start off with a sugary lip scrub to buff away rough or dead skin. Lick the excess sugar away, and then apply one of our rich, buttery lip balms. We make our lip balms with moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, beeswax and honey to nourish sensitive lips. Heading out for the evening? Paint your pout with an Emotional Brilliance lip color for a bold splash of color.

2. Scalp

People are awfully selective when it comes to their shampoo, but the health and appearance of our hair is actually determined by the state our scalp. Whether you're experiencing an itchy, flaky scalp, or your hair has a split personality; it's always a good idea to show your scalp a little TLC. So where do you start? With a scalp or hair treatment! Itchy, flaky scalps will benefit from Superbalm's lavender oil and salicylic acid infusion. Take time to massage the treatment in with big circular motions. This stimulates blood flow to the area, naturally exfoliates flaky skin away and allows the treatment to penetrate more deeply. Finish by washing it out with a conditioning shampoo that containsherbal infusions to balance your natural sebum production, like our Rehab shampoo.

3. Décolletage

For those who don't know, your décolletage is comprised of your neck, shoulders, back and chest. There are few sebaceous glands in this region so restoring moisture is key! Make your own décolletage mask by mashing a large avocado with a few tablespoons of yoghurt and a dash of lemon juice. Apply all over, relax with a LUSH Times for 10-15 minutes and then rinse clean for soft, fresh looking skin. After you've dried off, lavish your ladies with Lovely Jubblies, our gorgeous floral breast cream.

Made with tiger lily extract and meadowsweet infusion to tighten and tone, Lovely Jubblies leaves your décolletage smooth, hydrated and smelling like a bouquet of fresh flowers. And if it's an extra special evening, dust the whole area with the seductive scent of our Silky Underwear dusting powder. Hello, low plunging necklines!

4. Eye Area

There's nothing better for the skin around your eyes than a full night's rest, but if you've been a little naughty and need a quick fix, reach into your fridge for a cold cucumber. Place two thin slices over your eyes and relax for 10-15 minutes while the cucumber works its magic. It's a classic remedy for a reason! If you wear eye makeup, gently remove it before going to sleep with a moisturizing cleanser like Ultrabland. Gently is the operative word, friends. Washing your eye area too vigorously can cause small capillaries to burst, causing those pesky dark circles and puffy bags. Follow up with a touch of Enchanted Eye Cream.

Dot it around the brow bone down through to the cheekbone, lightly massaging it in as your go. Enchanted Eye Cream contains soothing lavender honey water and cold-pressed almond oil to keep your skin supple and moisturized.

5. Heels & Toes

Look down. Look way down. Our feet definitely take the cake as our most-neglected body part. A little surprising, considering the average person takes more than 10,000 steps a day. With each step our heels lift off the ground and transfer half our total body weight to our little toes. Ouch! Don't you think they deserve a little attention after all that hard work? Start by scrubbing your soles smooth with a Stepping Stone. Work the fine sea salt, pumice and cold pressed jojoba oil over your roughest parts - anywhere thick skin has built up a hard layer, like heels and toes. Next, apply a dollop of our soothing Fair Trade Foot Lotion, packed full of peppermint oil and rich cocoa butter for tingly, soft tootsies. Ready to take the next step? Massage a dab of Lemony Flutter cuticle butter into your nails to brighten and reduce breakage.
